Re: Who inspires you?

I look up to many people, but only three come to mind right off: Joan Baez, Steve Jobs, and my partner, Eliza.Steve created one of the most revolutionary products (the iPhone), and one of the most revolutionary technology companies in the world, all because he had a dream to "make a dent in the universe." And all without a college degree. There are other reasons too, of course, but most of them are very personal, so I'll say no more here.Joan has a beautiful heart and a beautiful voice, and inspires many people worldwide with her beautiful folk music. I bet no one can strum or fingerpick the guitar as well as she can, at least in my eyes. And my partner, Eliza. Like Joan, her heart is full and beautiful, and both of us continue to persevere through long-distance and never give up the fight. We just celebrated two years together this past Tuesday (11/24), and I say without a hint of regret that they have been the best two years of my life. Though most of my immediate family are bigots and don't love her nearly as much as I do, I don't let that stop me from doing whatever I have to to keep loving her. And as I said with Steve, there are other personal reasons why my partner inspires me, but they are, of course, personal, and could be in violation of her safety and/or privacy should anyone want to go digging at her heart in a way neither of us will allow, so I'll say no more here.

Re: Who inspires you?

Let me explain about Ken Jennings for those who don't know. In 2004, when I was a lot younger, he was on Jeopardy for 75 days, winning 74 of those games. I had never seen anyone that smart before. All I knew was I wanted to do that too. It kind of turned me into a trivia/game show nut. I spent years on the school quiz team, but that ended in college because my school didn't have a team. I miss my trivia competitions.

Oh Yes, Some of the people on this forum are inspiring. I got motivation to learn Audio Editing due to some of the very skilled people who talk about it on this forum. One more thing that inspires me is that no matter the topic, we all have unique experiences, solutions, ideas and opinions. Never mind that some of the things I strongly disagree, some of the time I feel like how on earth did they dare to think like that, say like that. But alas, it's only improovement that we seek, no matter the emotions or distractions.

I don't mean I find it easier to talk to them but I understand them slightly better than before. As for my first group, every prophet/messenger preached absolute pacifism, even if the texts that people read say otherwise. As for my second group, the celebrities' music point to the absolute pacifist way of life; for example: heal the world and imagine just to name 2 songs that people hear but don't really listen to ; meaning, they may like the messages but they either cannot understand what's being sung or they choose not to comprehend nor apply what's being sung to their ways of life.  As for Gandhi and Martin, people respect them but I don't know anyone except my diosa who even wants to try to live as they do. I'm not saying we should be carbon copies of those we love, respect and look up to but just as they were non violent, we should be to. I can honestly say that they inspired me because I have been able to not only take on board what they all said but I'm able to and am living an absolute pacifist lifestyle meaning, what you see here on audiogames, this is how I am off audiogames. I should also mention that we didn't start out as absolute pacifists, we started out as bad, even evil people before we were woken up.Kind regards, Amin Abdullah.

Re: Who inspires you?

I guess I don't really see the point in taking inspiration from people. Like, what is it supposed to do? Unless you can translate that inspiration into something productive, it's useless. Now, you can respect someone for things they've done; but that doesn't carry with it a sort of hint at things to come. Inspiration does, which is why I tend to think what y'all really mean is respect. Here's how inspiration can translate into something productive. You're confined to a wheelchair, and you see a news report of someone being confined to a wheelchair who has climbed Mt. Everest. You use it as a turning point, and you try to get out of your head and do something. It doesn't have to be a 1 to 1 translation, i.e. person A did a thing, and you took inspiration and now you've attempted or succeeded at doing that same thing.SO saying that someone inspires you really does beg the question. To what feats do they inspire you? If you can't give an answer to that question, you most likely respect them or admire them, but perhaps  you aren't taking inspiration from them.To me, inspiration comes from the things around us more so than the people in our community. For instance, a musician happens to unconsciously start tapping their pencil, but then realizes hey, wait a minute, that's actually a nice rhythm. a light bulb goes off and they start writing it down and then they form a melody, a bass line a chorus, the bridge, etc. Soon enough, they've written a song, but the inspiration came from a fidgeting behavior.

Re: Who inspires you?

There is a guy on Youtube by the name of "colion Noir" who I definitely look up to in some ways.I disagree with him on plenty of points and when not doing interviews I find him overly militant for my taste, but I'm confident that I could still be his friend in real life. The reason I respect him allot though is because he did a fantastic interview with Joe Rogan a couple years ago (he actually just did another one that I haven't had time to listen to yet) and basically did a really good job at defending the pro gun side of the gun debate while also educating people with solid statistics and genuine conversation. That's extremely refreshing coming from either side of the issue since it's turned into such a shitshow and IMO represents everything wrong with the current political culture (I fall somewhere in the middle generally but find my self shifting from one side to another more than I'd like) if anyone wants to know. But the fact that he is able to respond to challenges (all be it Joe Rogan is relatively moderate on the issue and a good listener) without stooping to thinly  veiled personal attacks or restating the same points again and again in slightly different ways, or just straight up making shit up when he feels like he's losing the argument is inspiring.I've always felt that debate should be a judgement free, hopefully calm conversation where both people walk in with at least somewhat open minds and walk away having learned something valuable, but apparently proving your point is all that matters and (at least on TV) yelling over your opponent is now a viable strategy.I like to argue.  I liked it as a kid and I still have a very hard time stopping my self even now, but he acts as a great example of how to argue correctly, and even if his cause was something I didn't care about I would still appreciate his attitude.

A bag bigger than santa's bag. He said that in time for christmas, I'd get the bag of toys. So there I was, waiting, and waiting, and waiting and waiting, the guy had time dying and I didn't get the bag of toys. Who inspires you?

So we all have people who have done something to inspire us. I want to know who those people are for you guys. It can be a friend, a family member, a famous person, or even Bob from down the street. You can share reasons if you want to, but you don't have to.
