You're fucked unless you're willing to wait 5 minutes and hit a hotkey really fast. And GW and Audacity open dialogs do it, as they use normal Windows Explorer. Unfortunately it cannot map itself to the windows+e key combination so I had to get autohotkey and a script to do that. They would take computers from the last 10 years and spin up windows on them to see how well they coped. They'd use that data to improve windows. Now that's gone and you're lucky if they use VMs to test. They've shifted to the end-user is a tester. I literarely had to force reboot my comp 3 times due to explorer crashing so fataly that it took nvda with it and not even desktop shortcuts where doing it. This new pc is not making the problem though, i really wonder what is causing that how ever. You can't exactly choose what format to download when getting sounds from free sites, and if I wasn't super careful I'd have to kill the explorer process and all my other explorer windows along with it just to get control back.It even caused crashes in the Goldwave and Audassety open file dialogues, making me lose my progress on the current project a couple times since I had to force kill the program.Updating the web media extensions didn't help either. We're talking two minute hangs, etc. It freaks when you want to move, delete, or rename them. I don't really care about windows media player because I don't use it, but still, ms should fix it. Re: windows 10 1903 broke .ogg files Hi guys.Sorry for reviving this topic, it is ages old i know. But i, and also a friend of mine, has still the same problem. It wwas like this. It only happened on my old laptop fortunately but my friend has to bother with that on his actual machine.* If i try to play a ogg file with explorer(vlc media player on win10 1909 and 2004), it opens up vlc how ever in a really wierd state it sounds like this. "Documents window, Vlc media player" Even if i am not even near documents. It doesn't play and also the menubar is not accessable. When i try to delete a ogg file, it sais status 0 percent and gets stuck eventually. I don't see the percent window after wards anymore and also can delete nothing else any more, how ever every thing except deleting still works. I then have to get my os.remove python methot to remove the file, which then takes like 3 min for what ever file but eventually unfreeces explorer which then poopps up with multiple delete messages at once for the same file that is now already gone.This is a really wierd problem and i kind of have the feeling that there is some win program that tries to process the files somehow which causes the problem. Again, sorry for reviving, but did you guys find any solution? It's so got darn anoying and the interfaces of other explorer apps, mee. Re: windows 10 1903 broke .ogg files If you're one of the people who got the free upgrade to Windows 10, you should know that that machine's days are numbered unless you got a top notch machine. But even in the windows 7 days you didn't have laptops with hyperthreading core i7's and 16gb of ram and high-capacity nvme2 ssd's. So while your free windows 10 will never expire persay, you're eventually going to have such a hard time running the thing that you might as well just get a new machine. And if you're going to, you would want to do yourself a favor and get one off the business storefront and not off the shelf. You'll have to give yourself a clever business identity (most manufacturers don't ask for verification paperwork) but that does give you access to the more powerful machines at their actual msrp. I don't know what that means, maybe I need to get a new computer, or re-install windows. Don't know. Also, please for the love of all that's good, do not run any edition of Windows 10 on either less than 8gb of ram, or a mechanical drive. No one should be using a mechanical drive in 2019 anyhow, sata-based ssd's are drastically lower in price. And most al new machines come with them. The only mistake you can't easily repair is your ram, though. But you can always replace an hd, at least usually, but let's be honest if your hd is soldered it will more than likely be an nvme ssd anyway. I"m not having file explorer lag issues though might get Explorer Plus plus just because I can't take the ribbon. Seriously, it took long enough for me to learn how to create a new folder so much so that it was easier for me just to use my command line knowledge and just mkdir it.Mind you my system also has 16gb of ram and a hyperthreaded 6core core i7, butt my first experience of windows 10 was on a virtual machine with 4gb of ram, so I know exactly how windows 10 will do if your machine is too slow to run it. Try that before anything else. This is a File Explorer issue, not a file type or Media Player issue. Although if you're not using Winamp or VLC, then you're missing out on two great media experiences...
