I just found a real cool music creating tool called braille music editor 2. it is a midi editor of sorts, as in, it has a ton if instruments and can export to a midi file. but it uses braille music!just search braillle music editor 2 to find it. if people are having trouble I'll upload it onto my website. you get a two month free trial but then you have to pay. I don't know how  much.

Dark eagle, interesting about Indian weather, hope the droubt doesn't get too bad. Over in this hemisphere it hasn't decided whether it will be hot or not which is a bit nuts. The dresden books are fun, I've read the hole series, while I wouldn't say they're the best thing ever and Dresden himself really got on my nerves after a while, what with his constant sermons on how women need to be protected and then his complaints about himself, the series did have a lot of fun stuff going on, plus the audiobooks are read by James Marsters, Aka Spike from Buffy and also Captain John from Torchwood which is fun . Audio is how I do pretty much all of my reading, getting the books from the RNIB here in the UK or from other places. I don't have enough vision to read actual print, BUT I find reading with a synth a bit too distracting for it to ever really be my major way of wanting to read other people's work, especially in  passages or dialogue. Of course I use a synth when I'm playing gamebooks or doing my own writing etc, but I still find I just don't get the nuances without a human voice. @nidza07,  my  cold is somewhat in abeyance, or at least its now at the point where I actually am able to do more than lie down and feel completely drained, even if I still have a cough and the sniffles. I'm hoping this goes off  soon since there is music I want to learn. NvdA updates usually are good, I just hope the next one doesn't break too many addons I like for programs, like the Winamp or interactive fiction ones, though that's probably a matter for another topic. As regards games and the db, actually reporting miner errors like that is exactly what the site and forum feedback room is for. There has been a miner niggle on the db recently, quite aside to me feeling  full of virus, but hopefully I should be able to get back to getting some serious work done this week, including fixing the link for the park boss entry as you describe. Well as I said I'm feeling a wee bit better, which will hopefully improve, aside from my lady and I doing a lot of harry potter, yesterday we had the horrible appointment for my lady's spousal visa extension. This was a tortuous matter, apart from being a long form and costing over a thousand pounds (about 13 hundred dollars), to complete the thing on Monday we also had to go to Bermingham on the train, attend an appointment where the documents were uploaded and get my lady's fingerprints taken, which of course meant paying a private company an extra hundred quid for the privilege. Honestly, it was simpler when we had to submit a paper form. While it was quite a slog, especially the two and a half hour appointment, and the long train journey, hopefully its all fixed. I just wish this actually got my lady a bit more than just an extention of her existing visa, indeed when we originally got the spousal visa in 16, we were told in two and a half years she could apply for a settlement visa which would mean she could start a bank account and get some of the benifits of living in this crappy country, accept that now some idiot has decided to change their mind and we can't get that for another two and a half years, which means not only another couple of years of being terminally short of cash, but also another massive charge and huge visa form to do later. all in all its bloody stupid, but then again, so is most everything to do with the British government at the moment. the only good thing to say is that its done, and assuming that something doesn't go radically  wrong we shouldn't have to worry about it again for quite some time.]Either way, this means pretty much everything from me to my dog are fairly shattered today, although I still have a book review to write, as well as wanting to get back to work on my Novella which has been sadly neglected due  my cold.

Hello. If you want a good headset, you can try Razer cracken tournament edition. You can connect them via jack or USB. You can control the bass, volumes and it is very confortable. Before that headset, I bought 4 years ago another Razer headset and from what I can say, they can serv you for a long time without problems. I changed them cause it breaks the plastic, but not cable problems. The tournament edition has aluminium in its construction so it should be better than first plastic headset. I'm not going to stop playing rn but I'm starting to get rather, how do you say, restless?Aprone is making us pay for the game, yet he is letting us fend with what we have. I'm not taking any strike or anything, but I just think we could get some compensation for dropping 100 crates and them not counting, or dying to a bug that we didn't even know existed. And lets face it. He made hardcore fun when it first was a thing, and it got better. But having to find ammo, but use ammo to find ammo in the process is absolutely ludicris and I just wish we could have more leeway when it came to melee, after all, we can't exactly buy our ammo. Firstly I think you should use some punctuation, since your  posts aren't easy to listen to without it.Secondly, consider that each geneticist costs %2 of your breed speed whilst each nursary increases it by %1, then work out how many you can comfortably get, though I believe there is a more serious use for geneticists when you have a particular perk. Anything from Kingston's HyperX Cloud series like the revolver S recommended in post 7.I bought a pair of HyperX Cloud 2's last year after my overly expensive Logitek's broke.  I use these for work and play, so I wear them for about 8 hours a day.  The sound quality is amazingly clean and I have never worn a more comfortable headset.  Earcups have memory foam padding with leather covers, however, they do come with interchangeable earpads with something other than leather (some kind of cloth, not sure of the material) if you don't like the leather.  The Cloud 2's also have a detachable mic and a carry bag.  Also has a very long cable with volume and surround sound adjust box.  You can either plug in via USB or regular audio jack.  It also has an interchangeable adapter for the front of the cable so that you can have a single jack for both mic and earphones if you want to use it with your phone.They are a bit pricey for budget headphones at around $100 I think.  If that is too expensive you can try the HypeX Cloud Alpha's which apparently has better sound, but does not have the surround feature making it a lot cheaper at around $60.  The Alphas only have a regular audio jack though, no USB.The cables are braided and quite durable, I always forget they are not wireless because I am so used to my previous wireless set, I have yanked them around quite a bit and they are still perfectly fine.  My brother bought himself a pair in 2016 or early 2017 and they still look perfect, no wear on the leather or anything and he travels around with them a lot, uses them at lan parties and its his primary music headphones as well.  They are very durable and is by far the best value for money as far as headphones go in my opinion.

I've just gone and looked into it - and my sonification didn't work either! How bizarre!However it might be something simple to fix.Could you launch SoniFight, select the Street Fighter 4 config and then click on the "Edit Config" tab.In that tab are all the details of the config that specify where to look (watches) and what to do when a value meets a given criteria (triggers). What I'd like you to do is click on Watch 7 (Submenu-Text), and then in the "Pointer Chain (in hex with commas)" field, change the value FROM: 132FDC, 180 to the new value 132FDC, 170 - so basically you just change the 180 to 170 on the end.Once you've done that, click the "Save Game Configuration" button and then go back to the Main tab and give it a shot.Let me know how you get on!

I've just gone back to look at the "blame" revision history of the SFIV config.xml in GitHub just in case I'd accidentally modified it between releases and uploaded the inadvertantly modified version - but nope! No changes made.The subtext pointer chain always ended with 180 - but now it doesn't work, and you're the first person to report it not working. So when I just looked it up and browsed the memory around where the text used to start, it turns out that the text now starts 16-bytes previously in memory (final offset 170 instead of 180, in hexadecimal).Why has it changed? I have no idea. The SSFIV.exe file has a last modified date of the 25th of May 2015 - so it's not that.My guess would be more towards some subtle "padding" issue, whether this is Steam based or (more likely) operating system based.Anyways, have a crack and see what happens. Fingers crossed.

I've just gone through to check and some of the menu options in the SF4 config that used to work are now broken, however all the in-game sonification still works.I'll have to back through it all all, and perhaps (from what we've seen so far) subtract 16 bytes from the watches that are looking for submenu text.Not sure why this has happened, but it's not a difficult fix - just hoping it's not a common occurence!

I don't think it should automatically solve a captcha to begin with. Many news sites for example have a comments form with a captcha, while most times you do not even want to comment, the addon automatically starts solving a captcha and thus making a lot of unnecessary requests.

I've also just gone through to check and some of the menu options in the SF4 config that used to work are now broken, however all the in-game sonification still works, and the above "170" change will fix the main menu.I'll have to back through it all all and perhaps (from what we've seen so far) subtract 16 bytes from the watches that are looking for submenu text.Not sure why this has happened, but it's not a difficult fix - just hoping it's not a common occurence!

While I bought the pc version and have enjoyed playing it several times, I have to agree with Slj's questions here. This website is as much about games accessible to blind and visually impaired people as it is about games with an audio focus, one reason why you won't see guitar hero or the like discussed here. while I have enjoyed the pc version of mobshift, I'd prefer to know what is going on access wise, with other platforms and indeed with the settings on the pc version before I create an entry for the game on our games database.

However, the existing config states their data type and the associated triggers state the values to look for so that's the vast majority of the work still done. Going from the existing data it only took me about 2 mins to find the updated arcade menu difficulty settings (watch 8) and then all the associated triggers 'just work' again. The new chain for watch 8 is: DD9D8, BCAs mentioned I'll go back through and update them in the next few days when I have some free time.

Volcanic Storm is bad. I want to say Embodiment of Righteousness is bad too, but I might be misremembering. Aaron has been quoted as saying he will never change any of the dragon strike scrolls, so I just spam the easier one till the better one comes along in both cases. When that happens, you end up having wasted your time as a dev. Like if I build a spell you learn at level 10, one at level 15 and another at level 20, and the one at level 15 is decent but for some reason really hard to cast or obscure or whatever, and then people ignore ig because they can wait till 20 to get a clearly superior version? That's my bad. I'd own that.I don't mind the mazes in and of themselves, I'll say that much. Also, the music is fairly good. I got happily lost in the game the first time I played it. Same with manamon. I'll give Aaron that much, at least. The issue is replayability. Paladin's pricepoint was pretty reasonable, and it was not a bad first commercial attempt. I wish it would be fixed/updated/made better, but oh well. Once Manamon came around, using basically the same engine and map mechanics overall, I feel like there was very little excuse left, especially at nearly twice the pricepoint.

I think volcanic storm is doable with much, much patience and time. All of the scrolls are. What frustrated me the most was killing all those shadows in the tower of fear. It goes on and on, and after a while that iritating noise they make can really get on someone's nerves. Once, I killed more than half of them and pressed Insert + F12 to check the time. I think I took my finger off of insert first, because the game thought I pressed F12 and brought me to the main menu, the joy! The Kingdom of Fragments is another frustrating part, especially when searching for the doors.I loved the music and the characters, though. The storyline was ok too, even if it left me with many questions. I had fun discussing all of those plotholes with my friends.

TL:DR - Don't optimise via bitfields, let the compiler and the computer do its job.Sometimes bitfields are of use (i.e. simple powers of 2, simple if-this-then-that cases), but the vast majority of the time they make a simple task more complicated, the code becomes significantly harder to understand - and as such they are very prone to bite you in the ass.If you want a book on bit-twiddling (and this is one I actually own), try: http://www.hackersdelight.org/I'd caution anyone thinking they can save a few cycles by raw bit manipulation that they may also cost themselves a few hours if not days or weeks later down the track figuring where their bit-twiddling didn't work as expected in corner-cases because they bypassed the normal checks-and-balances built into the programming language primitives they were working with.Also, only ever optimise the core code than runs 95% of the time. If you can make something 1ms quicker and it runs 60 times per second then you're up 60ms * 60 minutes * 24 hours = 86,400ms = 1,440 seconds = 24 minutes per day. If you optimise something by 5000ms (5000 times more!) that runs once per day then you gain 5 seconds, and you probably spent at least a few hours 'optimising' it.

Looking for Blind Users for a Study on Audiogames and mouse

Hello!I am looking for blind users to participate in a study I am doing for my bachelors research project. Post 12 and 13, you make valid points in that perhaps it is not worth optimizing using bit manipulation if you have a nice compiler that will do everything for you behind the scenes. Especially since most of the bit manipulation operators are abstracted away from machine-level implementations due to overhead, register allocation, etc. However, it's obvious that OP is just curious about how these things can be applied. It never hurts to be curious.  I will say, OP, just keep that in mind when you want to use bit manipulation in higher level programs you decide to write that it might not be worth the headache. These are definitely tricks that an embedded systems engineer could use to significantly improve certain aspects of a program. Even at that, sometimes, there are compilers for really well-known microcontrollers, and if you have the privilege of having a nice OS, then you might not even have to touch them in any case. Bit manipulation certainly facilitates a better understanding of computers at a much lower level. IMO, a nice intro to Electrical Engineering.

As everyone said, you can't do player_x>1; you must actually do player_x-=1; or player_x--;-- and ++ increase and decrease the value by 1 and is recommended to use these unless you need to increment the value by more than one, at which point you'd do player_x+=3; or player_x-=3; respectively. Hi all,I like guitar hero type games, and the standard interface to these games with the notes coming down the screen works fine for me as I have full sight. I was just reading a paper on "Blind Hero" - a modification to the "Frets on Fire" guitar hero-esque game engine that uses a haptic glove to provide information about the game state by vibrating each finger before the note is required. However this fails the "come as you are" test. You need to use a peripheral, and are these haptic gloves even available? (I don't think they are).So, I have an idea - but before I get into it we need to discuss octals.In the Linux operating system, permissions are defined in terms of User, Group and Other. A user owns the file, the group is a group of users that the user may be a member of, and 'other' is everyone else.Each of these three groups may have different permissions, and the seperate permissions of Read, Write and Execute are assigned the octal values 1, 2 and 4. So read is 1, write is 2, and execute is 4. However, we can combine these read/write/execute values by adding them up. Here's some examples just for a single user (no groups or other mentioned).1 - User can read the file, but they cannot write to the file or execute it.3 - User can read and write to the file but they cannot execute it (i.e. 1 + 2)5 - User can read and execute the file, but they cannot write to it (i.e. 1 + 4)7 - User can read, write and execute the file (i.e. 1 + 2+ 4)When you apply these octal values to the user/group/other settings then you get things like this:7 5 5 - user has read/write/execute but other and group may only read and execute (not write)5 0 0 - user has read/write access but not execute, and the group and other users cannot access the file at all4 1 0 - user may read/write the file, group may read file only, no access to other usersOkay, back to Guitar Hero... Let's pretend there are only 3 possible notes (left/middle/right) for the sake of clarity.If there were notes coming down the screen then a fully sighted player has to see the notes and respond to them, for example, a sighted player may have to respond to:LeftLeft+MiddleLeftRightLeft+RightOkay, so good so far, now how about we transcode these inputs into octal? We get:1 = Left3 = Left+Middle1 = Left4 = Right5 = Left+RightIf this information was provided, say precisely one bar before it was needed, then a non-sighted user would be able to play a guitar hero-type song without needing a glove. This would take a little bit of time to get the hang of the numbers in combination (what's 3? what's 5? what's 7) - but I think this would work, and once the values are 'locked in' it could be made seamless.We've made the deliberate simplification to 3 channels of 'notes' we can play at the moment, so how can we expand this to four or five tracks? Easily! We just go 1/2/4 (which we already know) and add 8 and 16.Let's redifne our inputs as "far left", "left", "middle", "right", "far right" - and we'll assign them values 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 accordingly.17 would be "far left [1] + far right [16]"11 would be "far left [1] + left [2] + right [8]"10 would be "left [2] + right [8]"etc.So a chord sequence might go:11,1,11,1,4.i.e.:far-left + far-right, far-left,far-left + far-right,far-left,middle.Anyway, that's what I was thinking about this evening. so, i am a native ios user, i am looking for an accessible media player for ios, i tried VLC media player for ios but the thing i don't like about it is that the playback controls always disappear after a few seconds and i have to continuously tap the video player heading for the controls to come back but they always disappear again, so if there are any other media players i can use i would be grateful for any help i am given, thanks

Are there labels above the edit boxes? In most cases, it should ask for the port number or range, the protocol to be used, and maybe the IP address of the device to forward the traffic to. For protocol, I'd use both TCP and UDP, since it was never specified which the server uses.This is why I'd like to host this on my VPS if at all possible. You're guaranteed 99% uptime with much faster speeds than you'd get from most residential home connections. Has anyone managed to run Visual Basic applications in Wine? If so, how?

Hey Tikki,Yay! Glad those changes helped - at least I now know that something has changed (although I don't know what).However, I do know that it's not a big job to update the config because I've previously tracked down all the data types and ranges, so it's just a matter of 'going through the pointer finding process'. While this is massive pain in the ass for most people, it took me around 2 years to write SoniFight, so believe me - I've had a lot of practice...I'm finishing off some scholarly gymnastics that I've been working on part-time for the last 9 years at the moment, and the brunt of the documentation is due this Monday the 10th of June - so you're going to have to forgive me if I put any SF fixes on the back burner until everything's submitted!

What can I do to help stem the habit  of pressing on my eyes?

Because I am blind, I’ve developed a few things over time. Rocking for example, and pressing on my eyes. The latter is the most problematic by far.  A few months ago I was taken to the hospital because the outer protective layer had gotten screwed up.  Eyedrops managed to heal it, but there is a scar there now. Plus, the doctor said the same thing happening to the other eye is a possibility, especially if eye pressing  does not stop.  I’ve gotten the impression over the years that mine is better compared to some others because I don't press as hard and things of the like, but true or not, that doesn’t change the fact that this happened.  There are those that might just say, well, just stop. I don’t think it’s quite that simple. If it were, I would’ve quite sometime ago.  As for why I still actually do it, that is a complicated answer. One  that may not make complete sense to everyone.  You see, it is now second nature to me.  It is less of a habit more than instinct. And one thing that I’ve noticed is that if I keep my hands off my eyes for prolonged periods of time, I will begin to get drowsy and eventually groggy enough to fall asleep if I let myself.  It also seems to put me in a certain kind of concentration.  I’m not quite sure how to describe this.  Suffice it to say that there are a few reasons I have not quite been able to kick it.  Regardless of all of this, it’s going to have to go one day.  Is there anything I can do to help hurry this process along?

You're not wrong.However, Guitar Hero played visually requires a significant learning curve also.When I started playing GH I sucked, and it was only through deliberately playing on harder difficulty levels where I failed over and over again that I was able to improve my skills to the point where I can now play the harder difficulties cleanly, or 100% the medium or easy difficulties with ease.

Tikki, this is something SoniFight could help with. The selected character could likely be identified by their numerical value just like in Street Fighter 4. Like maybe Kilik would be 0, Taki would be 1, Raphael would be 2 etc.I don't know the character indices, but it's do-able.The problem, however, is with a constantly changing emulator versions where memory offsets may change - which is why I haven't written configs for emulators yet. I really want to find a solid mechanism to identify the start of the emulated system memory so I can offset from that, rather than the emulator base address from which the system memory address will vary (if that makes sense).

and it's probably not smart to have poool.update_listen_2d in the moving code, here is how I would do it.Please note: this might not work, but you know...I'm starting at void game. Instead of declaring those variables in void game, declare them at the top. I would also prepose using a vector instead of ints, but that's just me...

i have researched this one whyle ago and i was facinited bye the results.you see, the body generates energy, to you know hear things walk, interact iwth the things, also it generates the energy for seeing.since we are not spending it the body founding itself ways to spent that energyit gos of with rocking, eyepressing for some rair people it gos with humming, extreem spinning around.jumping on a chair, and so.as a salution, i dont know really i have that problem too.

I did this servay twice. Once, I got it way back when I was on Lenovo. Back then, I used to struggle with a hell lot of lag. Maybe that was because my hardware wasn't strong enough(it was a Celerone, after all.) what's more curious is-JAWS works without no lag on there. Now I am on  rather powerful and robust hardware, so the lag issue seems to have  disappeared for good. However, NvdA still takes away my number  pad, and to use the  numPad home/end, page up/down keys, I have to hit NvdA+f2, then the key. I don't like that. Hope they add the relevant keystroke to toggle on/off this behavior. This is the only thing which is keeping me away from  making NvdA as my primary.

Hi. This is because of the review commands. There are actually 2 ways to solve this: First, you can solve it natively in NVDA, by going to the input gestures dialog and re assigning all the review commands to something other than numpad, or if you don't need them at all for whatever reason leave them unassigned. Switching to the laptop layout might also do this, however you will have a different key mapping for NVDA. Second is to use an addon to toggle this behaviour, however I don't have a link at the moment. That said, I'm curious why you would want this in the first place? All the review modes are pretty useful in many cases, so I would definitely recommend either assigning new commands for them or getting the obj pad addon from Joseph for alternative review commands.

I'd appreciate techniques for this as well, my eyes are all fucked up and the bones above them are starting to erode like when water runs across rock, I guess. It's getting really bad by this point, my eyes are probably further pressed than anyone's.
