[AZORES-Genealogy] Jennie Solomon Silva
I am trying to identify Jennie Solomon Silva's sisters that travelled with Jennie on a whaling ship from the Azores. Does any part of this story sound familiar? Jennie Solomon Silva and her 2/3 sisters traveled on a whaling ship, likely arranged by her brother Manuel Silva 1851 who worked on this ship.. Their father(Joseph Silva abt 1821) was already in America and owned Vinehill Ranch near Sebastopol. He convinced Jennie ad her husband Manuel there was plenty of work in the berries, hops, and grapes. Jennie and her family arrived in Sebastopol (a town of about 200) by Northwest Pacific Railroad on April 14, 1892 at 6:30 PM. Jennie Solomon Silva- Born Azores 1857 Arrives 1866 Boston, MA(Whaling Ship) Married Manuel Ignacio Borba 1851 after arrival Children- Emanuel Borba George Borba Louis Borba Charles Borba Frank Borba Margaret Borba Marie(Mary) Borba Virginia Borba Harry Borba Joseph Borba William(Bill) Borba -- To unsubscribe from this group, send email to azores+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. Hi, An Egripo Apprentice is a student who was learning under the Egripo rule or teachings which were in the greek language. Adair, Can you give me some background on where the information came from? a diary maybe?. I've searched many times through the Sonoma records, the only person with a Solomon surname is a Charles, b 1848 New York. The Censuses and Great Registers don't show anyone in the county who could fit as Joseph Silva. There is a Militia list at CA Gen Web for Sonoma showing a J S Silva. We had Manuel and Jennie on the 1880 census farming in San Leandro. [AZORES-Genealogy] Nordestinho Research
I found several Couto families, some live on the hill of Algarvia (lomba Algarvia), parish of Nordestinho. Some live on the bald hill of Saint Anthony (calvo de lomba de Santo Antonio) Nordestinho. It seems whatever hill they live on - they still belong to the parish of Nordestinho. I found a connection between the Furtado Couto name going back to 1872 (Maria, daughter of Francisco Moniz Furtado Couto, lomba de Algarvia, d'esta frequesia Nordestinho. Some of the birth records on family trees show Algarvia, but the birth records on the archive site may be under Nordestinho. Hi Eliseu, My grandfather was Joao de Sousa da Silva. I don't have his exact birthday but he was born in 1900 in Graciosa. He came from a large family. Only my aunt is still alive she doesn't remember all of the names but I remember his brother Antonio da Silva that lived in Peabody MA Francisco Silva live in Providence, RI. I also remember my father talking about a Carlos Manuel. Their parents were Manuel de Sousa Da Silva Candida Isabel but I don't have any other details. We might be from the same family since one of my father's brothers was Eliseu too. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
