Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Francisco Pereira & Rosa Vicente- Sao Miguel
Sherry, I am not at home right now so can't check but have they looked in the book Portuguese Hawaiian Memories by Freitas?? If they have a bio in there it might give you the village along with the Island name. Rosemarie > They lived on Maui. Which island of Hawaii did they live on? A friend of mine is stuck at these 2 people on one of her lines. They were both born on Sao Miguel, we don't know where, but with different records stating different ages we are guessing they were born around 1875. On one Hawaii census, 1910, says he was 2 years older than her, then on a birth record of one of their children it says she was 2 yrs. older than him so we who knows! They met & married in Fall River, Mass. around 1899. Their first born child was born in May 1900 in Hawaii, which is where they went after they married. They stayed in Hawaii & died there. This is all we know & are trying to find out where they came from on Sao Miguel. Thanks, Sherry -- To unsubscribe from this group, send email to azores+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Francisco Pereira & Rosa Vicente- Sao Miguel
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I knew the members on this list could help! I appreciate it so much! My friend will be so happy. She has lots of information on the children of this couple but they have been her road block. Actually for quite a while she thought they were from Madeira. I was looking at her papers last night & noticed Sao Miguel was listed on some of the children's birth records. I asked her why she thought they were from Madeira & she said because her sister put a map of Madeira in the family book. Thanks for all the help! I will have her call to see if she can get more information as to where on Sao Miguel the couple are from. I looked for passenger lists to the US but there are a lot of Francisco Pereira's & Rosa's! I couldn't pinpoint them. Take care, Sherry In a message dated 3/30/2012 7:22:09 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time, jude2...@msn.com writes: The marriage was 21 Oct, 1899 in Santo Christo church. If you do not hear from anyone in a couple of days, let me know and I will ask a contact I have who does belong to NEHGS to look it up for you. It may not give you where in Sao Miguel, unfortunately, it might just say Sao Miguel. I will try and find their ship's manifest. I did notice the familysearch.org had some info on their children in HI but their are no images to view and from what I saw it did not give parent's place of birth. RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Francisco Pereira & Rosa Vicente- Sao Miguel
My first question would be does your friend have the marriage record from Fall River? The actual page recorded at the church where she was married may reveal the information she is seeking, Cheri knows about that. As a minimum the marriage record would have the parents' names which would give more information to go on along with the ages. I think the marriages for Massachusetts for that time period are on line so that may be a good place to start looking. Once you get a date and location for the marriage then the get a copy of the actual church document.
