RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] help with record
I was just looking at record and noticed the baptism for #11 Antonio. Could someone translate the information on this, It looks like he is part of the Cabeca family I am working on from Agua de Pau. I also have no idea what it states in the margin? Thanks so much! Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Family tree info on Anna Silveira (Borba)
Krysta, Ancestry will work as a partial resource for tracing with American records. Depending on your membership level, you can get the U.S. Censuses, some birth, marriage, death info, and maybe immigration. To get started the correct way though, you need to read this how to guide and get all the sources you can in America to find the freguesia in the Azores. http://goo.gl/M2a3Y Good luck, Cheri Mello Listowner, Azores-Gen Researching: Vila Franca, Ponta Garca, Ribeira Quente, Ribeira das Tainhas, Achada -- To unsubscribe from this group, send email to azores+unsubscr...@googlegroups.com. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] GRACIOSA ancestors
Hello Eliseu, I don't have a lot of detail yet. So far this is what I have on this Silva family. My great grandfather was *Joao Correia dos Santos* b 1 Nov 1885 in Sao Mateus, Praia, Graciosa. His siblings all had last names of *Silva* were: * Manue*l b 1 Mar 1894, *Maria* b 1892, *Virginia* b 1890 and *Carlotta* b 1888. Their mother was *Augusta Margarida Machado* b 16 Feb 1857 in Sao Mateus, Graciosa. Their father was *Joao Correia da Silva* b 12 Jun 1861 in Agua d'Alto, Sao Miguel. My gr grandfather was born on All Saints Day so he got the last name of Santos. I am working with Joao Ventura to get more detail. In the Acores they were usually baptized from a week to 10 days, some were baptized right after birth if they thought they might die and some were baptized later than the week to 10 days. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] looking for help
Hi, It is important to follow Cheri's recommendation on how to proceed, but when I took a peak at the records available on line they were a quick find. Links below. Manuel's birth record go here: http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PV-AGUARETORTA-B-1880-1889/SMG-PV-AGUARETORTA-B-1880-1889_item1/P87.html There's a side note saying he died in Sao Jose, Ponta Delgada on June 13 1962. Maria da Conceicao go here: http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PV-AGUARETORTA-B-1880-1889/SMG-PV-AGUARETORTA-B-1880-1889_item1/P186.html Marriages and based on their birth year, they probably married after 1905 in which case you will need an approximate year of marriage to order one from Sao Miguel. One way that helps me get estimated dates is by birth date of their first child which gives us an approximate time frame of 1 to 2 years. You can click on the following link for the marriages but I didn't find them. http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PV-AGUARETORTA-C-1900-1905/SMG-PV-AGUARETORTA-C-1900-1905_item1/index.html Margaret Vicente On 7/22/12, Cheri Mello wrote: > Ria, > > As a beginner, you need to follow what's in this how to guide: > http://goo.gl/4SIFu > > You need to find your ancestors on a U.S. Census and then you will know > that they probably married before the birth of their first kid. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] My results are in
Nancy, makes sense. I think when people match me or my dad, Shirley A, and Altino, we'll find the match with Antonio de Mello and Constancia de Jesus. Or that's my theory. As more people test who have that couple, I'll be able to confirm that. So you are matching Gail and Altino on a different line, I think. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] My results are in
Gail, You and I are a match as well, at the 4th Cousin-Remote Cousin level. I also match Altino at the same level. I do not match Shirley, Cheri, or Cheri's dad. I've looked at your GEDCOM and can't really see where the connection might be, although I have Pereiras in my line, mostly from Sao Roque, Sao Miguel. I will email you privately.
