Thanks Shirley.

Cheri,

I do not see the names of their parents on the manifest. Since I am
unable to attach a copy of the manifest to this message I'll send it
to the e-mail address at the bottom of the group page.

Thanks again,

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Rosa, Souza from Sao Jorge to Massachusetts before 1860

2012-09-18 Thread AlRose509
I have a SOUZA from Sao Jorge who came to US before 1860.

Daniel Machado Souza, who always used the name Charlie Coleman for
reasons that I have never discovered, was a mariner or sailor that census
tell
me was in US by 1860. I first located him and his child bride (age 14 with
their first son born RI) in an 1875 census of Providence, RI. His young
bride was from Flores.

I only learned his real name from RC church cemetery records (a family
request for movement of his grave).

He was born about 1835.

Melo - Ribeira Grande, Rabo de Peixe

My maiden name was Mello. My Grandfather, Francisco Vieira deMello, came
from the Azores in the 1860's. The story I have is that his father, who may
also have been Francisco, came first to work in the goldfields of California.
He wrote his sons to come and 3 of them did. One, my Grandfather Francico,
stayed in California and the other two went to the East Coast. I have no
information on them. My Grandfather was from the village of Lages, Pico. His
wife was Catarina Xavier, from Silveira, Pico. I do have information of
relative on my grandmother's side but nothing about my grandfather's side.
Could his middle name, Vieira, be a clue. He gave that name to all his sons as
their middle name. Shirley Mello Fabel

Anyone recognize either one of them? Any help appreciated.

Hi Joann: I live in Beckwourth, CA. It is about an hour from Truckee. 45
minutes to Reno.
I have LOTS of Mellos in my ancestry.
Am I correct in saying that your grandparents are:
Manoel F. Mello X Maria Medeiros Mello?
How do you know that your grandparents had 16 children?
Do you have a birth certificate for your father?
Do you know where they died and when?

We need to talk. What is your phone number?

My Mello ancestors went to Hawaii in 1883.

2012-09-18 Thread Richard Francis Pimentel
The first thing I would do is see how much RAM you have. Windows 7 needs 3
or 4 gigs of Ram to run properly. If you can upgrade it may make more sense
cost wise to just get a new lap top. A new lap top will have the Ram and
Windows 7 and most likely have a larger hard drive.
