RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Sao Bento Obitos... Sao Bento vs Santa Barbara

Yea, CCA just messed it up. When they originally published the Angra concelho records online, they got it right and have obitos to 31 Mar 1911, item number 5 for a little infant named Maria. Then when the added in the rest of the Terceira records and standardized the file names, they switched things around. So it's an easy fix for them. But Sao Bento records are not showing up in Santa Barbara, in case you were thinking of checking that. They just have Santa Barbara records twice.Doug da Rocha HolmesSacramento, CaliforniaPico & Terceira Genealogist916-550-1618www.dholmes.com

Mike S,

Family Searched filmed Sao Bento obit through 1873, so they exist.

It looks like the CCA messed up. The Tombo site just crawls the CCA and
formats the info all on 1 page (instead of 10 to a page).

I'd write the CCA and let them know that link for those Sao Bento deaths
are taking you to Santa Barbara deaths.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] From Italy to Portugal - Death Record Info

2014-09-17 Thread luiznoia .
E,

Your text of the message is very small, need to rest it.

Trieste was not part of Italy until its annexation following the First
World War. It was the Mediterranian seaport of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
If church records can be found from that era, they will most likely be in
German

RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] From Italy to Portugal - Death Record Info

2014-09-17 Thread Eileen Leite
Familysearch.org has a lot of Italian records online, these are the FHC films
cleaned up and put online. They add more from time to time. They are not
indexed for easy searching, you have to go through the film, but many times
individual books have indices in front. I found it easy to find people. If
you know the region and town and the approximate date, look and see what they
have. The records are generally civil records, on a printed form that was then
filled in with the information. Not so hard to read once you get the format.
My understanding is that the law required civil registration of all births,
marriages, and deaths (Thanks to Napoleon), so these records are a good source.

If you are totally new to Familysearch.org, click on Search. To the right or
at the bottom there is a map of the world, click on Europe and a list of
countries will appear. Choose Italy and it will give you a list of Italian
records to Browse.

When I was going to the local FHC I helped someone with Italian records. I
Think the records were government records not the church records. I would think
most all the Italian records have been filmed. There are a number of them at
the local FHC. I would carefully look at the catalog for them.
