Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Help with Obit

2018-05-03 Thread JR
Okay you are right. It seems I transposed the year from another file, but
at this point I don't know where the date came from. So 1785 is incorrect
for sure. However, I do have that Antonio de Souto married Antonia Maria,
Feb 19- 1786. He was viuva de Maria Gularte.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/FAL-HT-CAPELO-C-1736-1816/FAL-HT-CAPELO-C-1736-1816_item1/P100.html

I will look around to see where I made mistake.

2018-05-03 Thread Sean Andrade
Hi JR,

I never found any records of Manuel having a daughter, but she is on the
Citem site listed with no parents. I believe you have her marriage date
wrong though as this record is from 1774 and you have her marriage in 1785.
Can you see the correct year?

Can anyone make out how old it says he is?

I see the date as May 1774, but can't make out the day, can anyone make it

Also, there's no place called "Lagoas" on Pico. There's no place called

Cheri

Thank you for your information.

I now have a Register of Birth which specifies the name Joao de Sousa born 27
May 1847. Place of birth Ponta Delgada – District of Angra (Azores –
Portugal). Father’s name Jose de Sousa born Ponta Delgada. Mother Tereza De
Jesus born Lagoas da Ilha do Pico.

I will check the websites you and others have forwarded to me. Much appreciate
your assistance.

island specified)

Joy,

There's a Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel island and another on Flores island.

On both islands, Ponta Delgada can refer to the city itself, or the
county/province.

Since you believe you have the birth date, search the baptisms on line at the
Azores government site, the CCA. Start with the city itself, then move to the
other churches outside the city, but within the council (county/province).

https://tombo.pt/en/d/acores

Pick the island from the left column, then the council of Ponta Delgada, then
start looking for every Joao born on 25 May 1847.
If you need maps as you expand your search, go to the Azores Gen Web here:

Good luck, Cheri Mello
