2017-12-14 Thread 'Julzzy66' via Azores Genealogy
Thanks Cheri,
Thanks for the warning.
I am aware of the scare tactics that are used on people which are far more
involved then just a fine being issued. A fine is imposed only if applied
by the court when a case is won. I took copyright and entertainment law
while in college and it is a shame that they are so greedy that they try to
not let people help each other. Then there are lots of other reasons
genealogist do not like groups like this.
It is always good to be careful.

Thank you Cheri... as always you are such a great help. I like the 2nd

people. Now I have to read through the whole thing to make sure I dont miss
someone.

Rick
Good to know, I will keep my eye out in case they post. The de Arruda
(Falcao) familyline is a brick wall I had for years and I found them know
and have just started filling in the tree. I would love to find someone
that is researching this line as well so we can be of help to each other.
So far it appears that they are all from the Ponta Delgada, area. This
record is from Arriffes.

[AZORES-Genealogy] How to help

2017-09-04 Thread 'Julzzy66' via Azores Genealogy
Hello

The baptism format just changed on me. Of course just as I was getting good
at reading the other ones. I was hoping someone could help me out and give
me the order of names and dates in this form. It would help me to know what
I am looking at and where to look. I see that in the margins they have what
I think is the birth date and then the child and/or parents names. Are the
grandparents still listed or is it the godparents.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PD-ARRIFES-B-1860-1869/SMG-PD-ARRIFES-B-1860-1869_item1/P7.html

this is not one of my ancestors so I am not looking for a translation, just
the order of how it is written.

Thank you

Is the name correct or is it Niolante? N and V can look so similar when
they are capitalized.

Also the maternal grandfather is Antonio de Medeiros (but another word/name
follows it in the record) Brilhante? I have not seen this word or name.

Birth 23rd of Nov 1859

Thank you again for your help. I am slowly remember how to read these

some Portuguese now lol. I lived in Lisbon for over 6 months. All my cheat
sheets you gave me years ago when I lived in Los Angeles are packed away in
storage. I hope to get all my research out soon.

These are my first twins records so now it all makes sense. Forão is Force,
Forcing. I admit I looked it up lol

I would love to with all of you sometime in the future. There is so much to
learn and teach each other. while I may not have been working on my
Portuguese tree, I was working on my Adopted fathers family for him and
have learn a lot about research and finding people. Now I am applying that
as well as re learning the Portuguese way lol.
You and the group have sure done a lot of work over the years and it makes
it so much easier to learn and find what we are looking for. Thank you.

2017-03-25 Thread 'Julzzy66' via Azores Genealogy
I was responding to Mara about Victoria's baptism record. here it is below.
I do know they immigrated around 1905 and noticed that on her record i see
a date but can not make out the words before the date to know if that is
what they are talking about.
