[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Jacintho/Tarves/Teves
Thanks to everyone for their help. Now I have a few new directions to research, especioally the Cambridge marriage. I'm not sure this is the same family. Hoping I can help someone in the group someday. In 1910 they are in Middleboro (Frank Jessie) and 1920 in Plymouth (Frank Jose) - censuses state they arrived here in 1907. You had they died in the 1920s so they aren't on the 1930 census. I couldn't find where their son Francisco came to this country prior to 1902. I did find a Francis Gesse who arrived in New York on May 19, 1907, on the Pretoria from Bermuda - he was a shipwright - going to Fall River - born in St. Michael's, the Azores. He is on the 1910 cenus as Frank Jesse Jr - 1920 census as Frank Jesse and 1930 as Frank Jure - the censuses stating he arrived here in 1907. Marriage in Cambridge MA in 1907 - Francisco Jacinto (Francisco Jascinto) 2 entries - Francssea Silva - wonder if this is them as I couldn't find any marriage in Plymouth. There must be a passport for Francisco in 1901 around that time - there are World War I and II drafts for him. Going to see if Francisco's family ever did go to the Bahamas. Just found a Francisca Nunes De Silva - estimated birth year 1889 - arrived June 28, 1906 on the Peninsula - port of arrival - New Bedford - the dates tie in. Pat, I assume this is part of your family. 1920 census - Frank Jesse, wife Frances and children (surname is Jesse so I assume they changed their last name) living on Prince St. in Plymouth Frank b. June 8, 1883 Azores. Interesting, they are next door neighbors to Carmen's Viera family. On the same page 1920 census are some Taveras (sp) John Teresa and ch: Manuel, Belinda, Antone, Frank, Sara. They are also living there in 1910 census. So far I have not found your earlier Tarvis, Jacintho or Tavares - will keep looking. There is a Teves family living in Plymouth in 1920 census and Joao de Teves b. 3/5/1875 Portugal WWI Draft Registration record.
