How do I find these newspapers on Ancestry? I'm a member of Ancestry.com
and live in Hayward yet I've always had to go to the Cal State library and
pour through the microfilm collection.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] San Francisco, California Online records

2013-06-11 Thread E Sharp
David,

This is how I do it. Maybe someone else has better way??
Just go to Ancestry. Under Quick Links in the upper right hand corner you
will see Ancestry Card Catalog. Click on this. On the left hand side there
is Title and Keywords. I usually search with Keywords. Put in Newspapers
Hayward and 2 will come up. Click on these and pick the one you
want. Then scroll down and on the right hand side it gives you the dates
covered. You can do this for Oakland, etc. or just plain Newspapers and
whatever state you want to look at, (i.e. Newspapers California or any
other State) and you can look at these.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] San Francisco, California Online records

2013-06-11 Thread Bill Boyd
David,

When you do an ancestry search, narrow the collection on the left hand side.
You'll have to keep narrowing. I've found great stuff this way. It gets lost in
all of the census and other information. The Daily Review had an article on me
being bit by a dog and needing rabies shots. Cool to find! Although, I could
have done without the stomach shots

For Fremont you may want to also look in the Tri-Valley Herald. Not sure if it
is on Ancestry, but that is where my family would also advertise for Fremont
rentals.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] San Francisco, California Online records

2012-05-04 Thread Shirley Allegre
E: I am looking for the death of Augostinho Linhares. He was born in
Ribeira Quente in about 1854. His wife was Isabel da Conceicao.
His daughter Adelina was married in Oakland in 1916.
I am guessing that he died post 1916.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks, Shirley in CA

[AZORES-Genealogy] San Francisco, California Online records

2011-09-02 Thread sdarosa
I wanted to remind everyone who has relatives that lived in San
Francisco area from the 1850's forward, the SF Genealogy site has a
wealth of free, online data including The San Francisco Call Newspaper
indexes by Jim Faulkinbury, a collection of SF City directories 1850 -
1982 - that are searchable online as well as downloadable to pdfs or
kindle.

There is much much more available at this address:
