[BackupPC-users] The correct version of rsync for windows an backuppc

2007-02-13 Thread Diaz Rodriguez, Eduardo
Hi to all, I make some test to try to find the correct version not for only
backup my windows workstation for recover
too. :-D

I make the test with my 22000 files of my documents

I find that the version that to recover and backup my windows-UTF8 are the
rsync 2.6.8

I made a compilation with cwRsync_Server_2.0.8_Installer.exe (that use 2.6.8)

cygwin1.rar that is dll that support utf8.

http://www.pk25.com/varios/rsync

Is very very strain that must use the same version of rsync to write in
windows, :-P (may be windows) :-P

regards!!!

[BackupPC-users] Problems restoring my backups, read if you have rsyncd and windows enviroment

2007-02-07 Thread Diaz Rodriguez, Eduardo
I have backuppc 3.0.0 in my Debian testing Server, perl v5.8.8, File-RsyncP-0.68

I backup a windows machine I put rsyncd version from www.itefix.no/cwrsync I
have the version 2.6.9. I use the utf8
parch for support Spanish chart (in my windows server, UTF-8 Cygwin)
http://www.okisoft.co.jp/esc/utf8-cygwin/

After of fail of my hard disk I try to recover my docs directory, and outloock
directory (I try the recover procedure
with some files first and run well) (recover outlook files run well) I have 2Gb
of pst files, and try to recover small
amount of files and runs well…

My docs directory has many files and many directory, how many?, 22000 files and
4Gb of data, I am from spain and my docs
has Spanish chats.

I have one problem, I try to recover my docs directory and backuppc start to
recover well, but after of some time 10 min
of 15 min rsync stops to run, I see the lost of network activity I see three
process of rsyncd server in my windows and
the status of recover in the backuppc server, afther of some time I see the
error "restore failed (Unable to read 4 bytes)".

I put the log of the client and the server.

(from Backuppc)
2007-02-07 00:21:28 restore started below directory misdocumentos to host
iguana1
2007-02-07 00:39:53 restore failed (Unable to read 4 bytes)
2007-02-07 00:49:45 restore started below directory misdocumentos to host
iguana1
2007-02-07 01:05:34 restore failed (Unable to read 4 bytes)

(from my windows xp pro English version)
2007/02/07 02:22:33 [792] recv servidor1 [192.168.1.3] misdocumentos (ediaz) My
Documents/0Proyectos/Abiertos/Occidental
Hoteles/Raid Manager 6.22.1/Docs.zip 7724979
2007/02/07 02:36:32 [792] rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (64991371 bytes
received so far) [receiver]
2007/02/07 02:36:32 [792] rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 86 bytes
[generator]: Broken pipe (32)
2007/02/07 02:36:32 [792] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream
(code 12) at io.c(1122) [generator=2.6.9]

The backup copy runs well, but the recover fails if I put many files :-( .

I other situations I see that the different versions of rsync in some
situations for example rsync 2.6.8 linux -- >
rsync write to --- rsyncd 2.6.9(utf-8) fails to write with similar errors. Only
repair this situation if I use the SAME
version in all sites...

I seen in the install log that File-RsyncP-0.68 are based in a version of rsync:
configure: Configuring File::RsyncP::FileList based on rsync 2.6.3

I have this question I know that I must use the version of I want (may be put
in FAQ that must use the same version of
rsync in client(backuppc) and server(windows). because in a linux windows
environment always fails went I write in windows.

I have only two question for any that use rsync (windows) and for Craig

1, What is the version to install rsyncd in windows?? must be the same of are
based File::RsyncP because in my opinion
if not are the same has problems, (must use utf8 Cygwin to recover files??) in
my test if don't use uft8 patch rsyncd in
windows don't create files with Spanish charts,.

2, Anybody has a installation with backuppc 3 utf8 and windows clients and try
to recover 2 files to a windows
client??? and run??

Thanks of all :-D and sorry for my bad English.

I stay with Craig if you need have more space, you can use lvm (and reiserfs),
or raid.

if you want use backuppc for every 10 or 20 machines.

Do you have other error too, the path don't will don't run because you must use
the small from (less of 8 chars) for windows

- please use MYDOCS~1 for path. and the firts thest use a short form of short
path C:/temp for example

- test from your linux backuppc server: telnet 192.168.0.168 873
if you get the connect the firewall is not the problem.

list = fals, what is this???, delete this line.

Re: [BackupPC-users] BackupPC 3.0, rsyncd and UTF-8 support?

2006-12-12 Thread Diaz Rodriguez, Eduardo
Only I can said that YES.

I now are using a Backuppc 3.0 beta 3

I use cwrsyncd from: http://www.itefix.no/phpws/index.php

And show, copy an restore my spanish charts from my windows XP and 2000
workstations without problem.

install cwrsyncd, prepare the directory for upload, replace cygwin1.dll with
this
http://www.okisoft.co.jp/esc/utf8-cygwin/cygwin1-dll-11-15.tar.bz2

restart cwrsynd, and works perfect.

Only one problem (or not) MUST use the same version of rsync in all systems
(backup-server and workstation) because in
high volumen of data my rsyncs fails some times if you use the same version
don't have problems, please test allways. ;-)

in my case: my server:

pk25.com:/tmp# rsync --version
rsync version 2.6.9 protocol version 29
Copyright (C) 1996-2006 by Andrew Tridgell, Wayne Davison, and others.

Capabilities: 64-bit files, socketpairs, hard links, symlinks,
  batchfiles, inplace, IPv6, ACLs,
64-bit system inums, 64-bit internal inums

rsync comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. This is free software, and you
are welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions. See the GNU
General Public Licence for details.

my windows:
2006/12/12 14:15:28 [3944] rsyncd version 2.6.9 starting, listening on port 873

Please add support to utf8 in your linux backup server to support it (using
locales)

Hi Craig, were is you button to donate, or Wish List??, my company loves your
program. (and my clients too) :-D

2005-08-23 Thread Diaz Rodriguez, Eduardo
Hi.

I use backuppc with samba3 in a single local host machine that's mades copy on
localhost.

It is about the display Accented chars and ñ int the web interface.

I can restore, and made backups without problems but I want that the display
show me the directory and the name of the files correctly.

I try to change the config.pl to
#
# Additional CGI header text.
#
$Conf{CgiHeaders} = '';

and

$Conf{CgiHeaders} = '';

and

$Conf{CgiHeaders} = '';

But don't get lucky.

After of refresh the admin page of BackupPC_Admin i see the Encoding are
ISO-8859-1.

Any ideas for use UTF-8 for see Accented chars in the cgi interface??.

Regards!
