Re: First Use - quick way to get a list of numbers for output

2021-12-30 Thread Luis Speciale

how to produce a simple list of numbered word such as
word01
word02
word03
word04

Open a new document. Change the wrap text option to none.
Now you can select vertically (right click).

Make carriage returns (the number the words you need)

Now go to Text>Add/Remove line numbers
Make your choice
Then make a vertical selection before the line and add your word

Unfortunately my graphic design skills isn't world famous ... not even

That's exact.

I wouldn’t want BBEdit saving the actual document automatically, so that
only leaves the auto-save ‘backup’ files. I checked the default settings
for auto-save (it’s an expert pref) and BBEdit will save the document
every minute. Granted I can type a lot in one minute, but no so much
that I need more frequent auto-saves.

A, I didn't know that, I mean that it will save each minute.

What is the actual problem you want to solve with an option to “save
every change”?

For example, there's an app called nvALT where you never save and keeps

Apple's free TextEdit (and a few other Mac OS X applications) have their

As usual, BBEdit provides a truly magical fine-grained implementation,
using *the same* infrastructure provided by the system’s built-in file
versioning capability, but playing it *with virtuosity*.

BBEdit's Manual says:

Search => Compare Against Previous Version
Provides access to previous versions of the current document using the
system’s built-in file versioning capability.
You can compare and integrate changes from any prior version into the
current document as desired.

If you haven't tried this with BBEdit, you should.

*Not-so-fine granularity offered by Apple's free TextEdit and a few
other Mac OS X applications*:
TextEdit gives you an entire previous version of the file and you have
to figure out, by yourself, what the differences with your current
versions are.

*Fine granularity offered by BBEdit*:
With BBEdit's "Compare Against Previous Version", you can easily zoom
into a given character, and you can decide which changes (if any), at
whichever granularity you want, to revert to any previous version of
your file.
