[beagleboard] Re: Beaglelogic with Linux beaglebone 4.9.36-ti-r46 #1
Hello, I think I had a bad / legacy bootloader on the emmc. I cleared it out and booted from the SD Card and it worked. There is another "google groups" dedicated to Beaglelogic, but it is very quiet. Hi - just to report back, I've sorted this out and the 4.9.36-ti-r46 #1 release is working with Beaglelogic. it turns out I had some old crap in my bootloader that was not zero'd out properly. cheers, GL On Friday, 11 August 2017 15:26:46 UTC+2, DLF wrote: > > Hello, > > Is anyone with a Beaglelogic using the 4.9.36-ti-r46 #1 ?. > > I've followed the instructions/image from Abishek on > https://beaglelogic.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html but I can't get > it to work. > > Following the troubleshooting section on the "readthedocs" site everything > checks out okay also. [beagleboard] Beaglelogic with Linux beaglebone 4.9.36-ti-r46 #1
Hello, Is anyone with a Beaglelogic using the 4.9.36-ti-r46 #1 ?. I've followed the instructions/image from Abishek on https://beaglelogic.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html but I can't get it to work. Following the troubleshooting section on the "readthedocs" site everything checks out okay also. As far a I can tell the pins are not being Mux'd at all, but I don't know where to go next(novice user) . I've zero'd my emmc so I'm sure I'm running from the SD card. I've been successful with an older version (bone-debian-8.4-lxqt-4gb-armhf-2016-04-10-4gb.img) but would like to upgrade. I don't mind to raise an issue for Abishek in git but I just wanted to see if there is something else to try beforehand or if someone can confirm it is working. I've made a posting over on the Beaglelogic group but it is a little lonely over there... https://groups.google.com/forum/?utm_medium=email_source=footer#!forum/beaglelogic cheers, GL -- For more options, visit http://beagleboard.org/discuss --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "BeagleBoard" group. Hello I played with this a while ago. A lot depends on which firmware you are running. http://dumb-looks-free.blogspot.fr/2015/12/beaglebone-black-bbb-uart2-with-esp8266.html should be some other examples via google - it is not real specific to BBB (maybe some raspberry pi examples that could be used) good luck On Friday, 27 May 2016 15:12:48 UTC+2, El Smiedro wrote: > > Hy everyone, > > I would like to customize the board of the BBB and add a wifi module (f.e. > the esp8266) to it. yes - it sounds like the problem... from William's blog, I'd look at this part $ sudo apt-get install git $ git clone https://github.com/beagleboard/bb.org-overlays $ cd bb.org-overlays/ $ ./dtc-overlay.sh $ sudo ./install.sh and then check that the overlays in /lib/firmware are current. [beagleboard] What is special about SPI0 ?
Hello, I was working a DT Overlay for my touchscreen and ran to issues trying to load it. It can successfully load it via cape_enable=bone_capemgr.enable_partno=BB-ADS7846 (so I know the overlays works) but I don't get the same results (not working) via the command line. Investigating this further I noticed similar points with the SPI0 (BB-SPIDEV0-00A0.dts) and discovered it not setting the pin mux via the command line as I would expect. (SPIDEV0 also works via capemgr in uEnv.txt) I'm using the bog-standard BB-SPIDEV0-00A0.dts overlay from bb.org-overlays/src/arm. Everything else looks like it is working properly in dmesg. I can move forward using bone_capemgr.enable in uEnv.txt so this is not a critical issue but more a point of understanding what is going on (or not, as the case may be) and efficiency. I've googled around but could not find anything related to the newer 4.x kernels. Thanks in advance for any clues or assistance. *Environment:* root@beaglebone:~# uname -r; cat /etc/dogtag; dtc --version; cat /proc/cmdline 4.4.1-bone5 BeagleBoard.org Debian Image 2016-01-31 Version: DTC 1.4.1-g1e75ebc9 console=tty0 console=ttyO0,115200n8 root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootfstype=ext4 rootwait coherent_pool=1M quiet .../boot/uEnv.txt ##BeagleBone Black: HDMI (Audio/Video)/eMMC disabled: dtb=am335x-boneblack-overlay.dtb results do not vary if I use cape_universal=enable or not . [beagleboard] BBB UART2 loopback test
Hello and happy holidays to everyone, I’ve been trying to use the UART on my BBB and I’m having some trouble to figure out why it is not working. To test I have a jumper line between P9.21<=>P9.22 and using a loopback test. The first Putty session (cat /dev/ttyO2)does not respond with any “output”. I thought this would be easier and my google searches indicate this should work. root@beaglebone:~# uname -r && cat /etc/dogtag 4.1.13-ti-r33 BeagleBoard.org Debian Image 2015-11-12 root@beaglebone:~# cat $SLOTS 0: PF -1 1: PF -1 2: PF -1 3: PF -1 4: P-O-L- 0 Override Board Name,00A0,Override Manuf,BB-UART2 root@beaglebone:~# ls /dev/ttyO* /dev/ttyO0 /dev/ttyO2 *Terminal 1:* root@beaglebone:~# cat /dev/ttyO2 *Terminal 2:* root@beaglebone:~# echo "hi" > /dev/ttyO2 many thanks for any assistance. It's a feature of the omap4+ bootrom. (omap35/36xx can't do it). We had users deleting MLO/u-boot.img in that fat partition so we started looking for a way to better protect that. Ps.. the bootloader does a lot more internally now too, so we can have simplified /boot/uEnv.txt script... which rev of the BBB does that relate to? i'm still using rev B. Any image after August 2014 (cat /etc/dogtag) Defaults to a boot loader that does: /boot/uEnv.txt /boot/vmlinuz-${uname -r} Either September or October 2014, we switched to MLO/u-boot.img being dd*'ed... sorry, i phrased that question badly. obviously, i can always upgrade u-boot on my rev B, but i assume there was a point in the recent past where the onboard bootrom could handle the dd'ed MLO/u-boot.img, and that's *not* something i could update. given that my BBBs were purchased a while back, i suspect i don't have that feature in the bootrom. eh, time to pick up some rev Cs. rday -- Robert P. [beagleboard] Re: VIdeo is not enabled with latest Angtrom build running from microSD card in BeagleBone Black
Hello it sounds like you have a similar problem to what I had experienced. There is a thread in google groups somewhere (can't find it) about this issue but I wrote it up here linkhttp://dumb-looks-free.blogspot.fr/2014/04/bbb-hdmi-debias well My specfic situation was for debian, but some others have indicated it works for angstrom too. maybe have a look at this to see if it can give you some clues. good luck On Tuesday, 6 May 2014 15:04:26 UTC+2, alexander.r...@gmail.com wrote: Hi: I've tried these two latest images on a 8Gb microSD card: Angstrom-Cloud9-IDE-GNOME-eglibc-ipk-v2012.12-beaglebone-2013.06.20.img Angstrom-Cloud9-IDE-GNOME-eglibc-ipk-v2012.12-beaglebone-2013.09.05.img In both cases, the board boots, and it shows the beaglebone logo image for a few seconds and a login ASCII screen, but then, the HDIM video is off. I can access the board via Serial cable (FTDI), but is seems the HDMI video is disabled. When booting from the eMMC with the original build from manufacturing, the video works fine on that same board, so there is no HDMI cable, power issues. Any idea how to enable the HDMI video when using the latest Angtrom build booting from microSD card Thanks, -- For more options, visit http://beagleboard.org/discuss --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups BeagleBoard group. Sounds like the explanation to me. - thanks for that. I don't have the skills to rework the board so I'll just put up with it.
