The reason I ask is based on the information here:

https://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_HDMI

In the past I've had the most success using an external HDMI to VGA connector
that then feeds into a Viewsonic LED 1080P Full HD monitor.  VX2753MH-LED.
This one doesn't really like 1920x1080@30 so the Beagle has trouble talking to
it.

https://www.viewsonic.com/nz/products/lcd/vx2753mh-led

Do these smaller displays present as 30Hz?  Seems given the capabilities of the
BBB it might be better to target a small 7" to 10" LCD display in the 1280x768
size.  I know I had a lot of trouble with the Mango screens for the Replicape
project with the higher resolution.   Touch on the Manga1 was crap.  Support
for the entire project kind of vanished and now it turns out one of the stepper
drivers is toast.  Never really got far with the Manga2 after all that

But the point is the higher res screens on a small physical footprint don't do
much so I was curious about this display and how well the touch actually worked.

Hi Robert,

it's solved. Hardware, the USB connector.

Was able to solder, now it works fine.

Sometimes there was a second entry with lsusb. Then I found out, it's the
connector, with a little pressure it worked.

Then microscope, solder iron

I spent 2 days and nights on that 

But I learned a Lot

Thanks to all

Re: [beagleboard] Re: BeagleBone Black (C) USB based touch not working

2021-06-03 Thread Peter Lange
Hi Robert,
it's solved.
Thanks to all
Kasimir

[beagleboard] Re: BeagleBone Black (C) USB based touch not working

2021-06-03 Thread Kasimir
Hi Dennis,
yes, the board looks similar. Of course I powered with a separate power
supply :-)
That's my board:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/174109565997
Works fine on Windows PC, so it's not defective.
I like it, brilliant colors, wide angle but Beaglebone Black is
ignoring the touch.
I'm using the current IOT Debian buster image.

Could you be having a conflict with the native LCD system (which is
active in parallel with the HDMI). The native LCD system expects a
capacitive touchscreen on the P9 (I think) pins.

Might help if you identified WHICH product you are using. This one
https://www.amazon.com/GeeekPi-1024x600-Capacitive-Monitor-Raspberry/dp/B075QCXLPF/ref=asc_df_B075QCXLPF/?tag=hyprod-20=df0=309707619534==g=5324710204179150785c===9017241=pla-570706414713=1
mentions a "free driver" (I would hope so -- I doubt they'd sell many if
they said the driver was extra cost; though the best documentation I find
for it says "driver-free" -- meaning no driver needed).

I would note that the compatibility list on

does NOT mention beagle bone, though the body text does.

"""
Power Supply 5V/1A via USB port
"""
OUCH! Beagle USB maxes out at 500mA (which is the spec for USB2); you'll
need a powered USB hub with high-power ports.

"""
Please make sure the FPC cable is fastened and please connect the
MicroUSB cable to your device so that it can communicate with the touch
panel.
Please make sure the USB power cable is connected properly.
"""

Implies one needs to use a separate USB power supply

One port is power, the other is data.
