Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] LMS 7.9 - enhancement request - further parsing of Shoutcast track info
Seven and a half years after suggesting these changes, I have finally implemented them as part of a plugin. It includes parsing of SHOUTcast ICY StreamTitle and looking up missing cover art It is in my Radio Now Playing plugin that is available via the LMS 3rd-party plugin list https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?115201-Announce-Radio-Now-Playing-plugin The parsing is done by regex and is held in a configuration file which makes it relatively easy to adapt for other stations if needed. But given that no-one else in the last 7 years has asked for this capability then I suspect it is just my big itch that was finally scratched. The regex looks something like this Code: StreamTitle=\'(?.*?): (?.*?)(?: - (?.*?))?\'(?:;|$)(?:StreamUrl=\'(?.*)\'(?:;|$))? which, if given StreamTitle=Happy Hour: The Beatles - When I'm 64;StreamUrl=https://lastfm.freetls.fastly.net/i/u/770x0/56c8ae3f99db414db15270f6adcc0f5b.gif#56c8ae3f99db414db15270f6adcc0f5b; will return: progtitle=Happy Hour artist=The Beatles title=When I'm 64 cover=https://lastfm.freetls.fastly.net/i/u/770x0/56c8ae3f99db414db15270f6adcc0f5b.gif#56c8ae3f99db414db15270f6adcc0f5b The regex is a bit more complicated than you might think it needs to be because it has to return sensible things when there is no song artist/title (implying a spoken link). Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Suggestion: LMS handling attributes of Programme as well as Song
Also - TuneIn sometimes has programme information ( https://help.tunein.com/how-do-i-update-my-station-schedule--SkIFQfiuG ) .. which LMS has access to. I do not know how many broadcasters provide that programme data to TuneIn and keep it up to date. This has a duration and seconds_remaining field - so a progress bar could be shown. Currently LMS is able to show programme names from TuneIn because it takes the first two name fields and drops them into artist and title. But TuneIn actually indicates what the item is with the "key" field. So LMS could store them separately from the real artist/title Code: { guide_id => "s112653", image => "http://cdn-radiotime-logos.tunein.com/s112653q.png;, items => [], key => "station", name => "Radio Melody 105.7", preset_id => "s112653", type => "text", url => undef, value => "Radio Melody 105.7", }, { duration => 7200, guide_id => "p1000896", items => [], key => "show", name => "Radio Melody am Vormittag", seconds_remaining => 2815, type => "text", url => undef, value => "Radio Melody am Vormittag", }, Some supplementary reasons - none of which are big issues. Having real programme fields would also prevent wasted lookups of artist info in MAI (although it is not likely that an end-user would click on artist info when the radio station is not showing song info ... but the display might be left open). For those users who have scrobbling of internet radio listening enabled ... it would help to stop (unless a new option was added to allow it) station/programme details being scrobbled. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Suggestion: LMS handling attributes of Programme as well as Song
True - but there are plugins today that provide both Programme and Song information - and they have to push it into the song info. For example BBC iPlayer, and my Radio France, ABC Australia, KCRW and CBC Canada (each of which handle multiple stations) all collect programme and song info. Paul Webster http://dabdig.blogspot.com author of \"now playing\" plugins covering radio france (fip etc), kcrw, supla finland, abc australia, cbc/radio-canada and rte ireland Paul Webster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=105 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112211 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
[SlimDevices: Beta] Suggestion: LMS handling attributes of Programme as well as Song
When streaming from radio sources it is possible, via existing plugins to retrieve information about the programme that is currently playing (or even being listened to via a catchup service). Currently those details are squeezed into song information (some combination of artist, title, cover, album, duration) meaning that the information is not readily able to be presented when a song is playing (assuming track details are captured by the plugin). On old SB devices there is not really enough space to show a lot of info - but on Touch and modern home-built stuff, plus web interfaces there is room to present a lot more. So - my suggestion is that LMS should accept a few more attributes (eg progtitle, progdescription, progicon, progstarttime, progduration) then a display handling module would allow the user more control over what is shown. e.g. Touch-style display could show the programme name and small icon up in the top left of the screen (even with a 2nd progress bar) when a named song is playing. I know that this would mean a lot of places would need to be checked (potentially everywhere that uses "artist"/"title") - but my guess is that most places could ignore it. Bringing this one back from the dead because I spent a bit of time working on making my own plug-in yesterday as suggested. I used Michael's DRS plugin as a template and I have mine working now but there are some issues that I would like some guidance with. 1) URL filter My filter works when I play by typing in the stream URL but if I play via the regular RadioTime/TuneIn station list then, not unreasonably I suppose, I do not get a match. My guess is that I could try to hijack the TuneIn URL when it includes my station id but they could break ... and what does LMS do if more than 1 filter matches the same stream URL 2) Artwork I can extend my code to put artist/track/show/station image but ... wouldn't it be better for the plugin to be able to signal that it is happy for LMS to provide this and then let it fall through to the (say) TuneIn artwork finder (based in the artist and track info that my plugin returned? e.g. not returning icon attribute could mean that plugin wants LMS to try and find one and returning empty attribute could mean that (for some reason) the plugin does not want the automated search to be done. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] LMS 7.9 - enhancement request - further parsing of Shoutcast track info
I thought about something like that - filtering on dandelionradio.com The code would then be, in essence, a clone of what is in HTTP.pm with the risk that it becomes out of date if things change in the future and probably needing people to download it. The benefit would the be that there would be no chance of it affecting other stations that might put a colon in their metadata artist for some other reason. [SlimDevices: Beta] LMS 7.9 - enhancement request - further parsing of Shoutcast track info
Hello all, I have a request - and have a patch for it (but am not git-literate). When the track info from a streaming (Shoutcast) server has - then it is assumed to be artist - track I have a special case where there is extra info before the artist name - something like this showname: artist - track This is not a standard - so I could imagine that people might not want it ... but I think that the chance of a clash with a genuine artist name is very remote. I suppose that it could be made configurable (to enable/disable the facility). The change would be in /Player/Protocols/HTTP.pm within sub getMetadataFor change Code: my ($artist, $title); to Code: my ($artist, $title, $artistPrefix); AND Code: my @dashes = $currentTitle =~ /( - )/g; if ( scalar @dashes == 1 ) { ($artist, $title) = split / - /, $currentTitle; } to Code: my @dashes = $currentTitle =~ /( - )/g; if ( scalar @dashes == 1 ) { ($artist, $title) = split / - /, $currentTitle; # Special case - if Artist has a non-space colon space then assume special prefix and split again # e.g. The 60s Chart Show: Beatles - Help! = artist=Beatles title=Help! # but should not catch Code : Red Core - Caution = artist=Code : Red Core title=Caution my @showcolon = $artist =~ /\S: /g; if ( scalar @showcolon == 1 ) { ($artistPrefix, $artist) = split /: /, $artist; } } To test - play any Shoutcast station and show that things appear to work as before ... then play Dandelion Radio before and after the change. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Official Last.fm plugin
An unproven hack to prevent all scrobbling of remote stuff (as opposed to local audio files) is to edit plugin.pm in home/SqueezeCenter/server/Slim/Plugin/Audioscrobbler and modify routine canScrobble - by stuffing a return; without the quotes on the line before # Must provide a source There are other ways of doing it - but this should work. It would prevent issuing love aubmiaaiona for the track. I say unproven because I have it installed on a Vista machine and it won't let me changes files in Program Files directory and I don't ave time to fiddle right now. It would be easy to turn it off for individual handlers - such as Shoutcast by modifying a routine that is called to ask if the handler supports last.fm -- Paul Webster Paul Webster http://www.lastfm.com/user/BondJamesBond Paul Webster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=105 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48880 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta

[SlimDevices: Beta] Re: New plugin: RadioTime
A few suggestions ... SORT ORDER Sorting left to right when the radio station name is prefixed by its frequency might work well for people in the listening area who know the frequency, but for others or even for locals with RDS radios (I guess primarily Europe) they probably rarely see or hear the frequency because the station name is presented ... plus (UK) national stations are diferent frequencies in different parts of the country. SEARCH There are a lot of stations - and Browsing through 100+ in a Genre when trying to find a particular one (at the Squeezebox) is a bit of a pain (especially if you don't know the frequency). PROGRAMME NEXT ON... This might break the business model for RadioTime - but anyway here is the thought. If I occasionally try to find a particular US show - I can put it in My Radio and then (I presume) it will appear playable in the menu if I happen to browse (at Slimserver or Web) if it is on somewhere that RadioTime knows about (in the same way that PublicRadioFan web site can show when a programme is on somewhere). However, if it could show when it is next on - then I may well come back and listen then. e.g. Car Talk - next on live in X hours/minutes (by saying in X hours/minutes you get around timezone issues) This might mean that I would not buy the RadioTime Recorder - hence my comment about the business model. On the other hand it might mean that users might get to like a show more and want to listen even more and would rather have the convenience of it being auto-recorded rather than having to remember to come back at the right time. -(Independent of SB or RadioTime, recording streaming programmes based on schedule or EPG entries is possible for free anyway - but if RadioTime has a simple, foolproof and integrated system then maybe sales will flow)- -- Paul Webster Paul Webster http://www.lastfm.com/user/BondJamesBond Paul Webster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=105 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26682 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta

Interesting. I see that Kevin Kelly of http://www.publicradiofan.com is one of their advisors. The ability to queue radio shows for recording and eventual playback (for money) is similar to a German offering for TV (http://www.onlinetvrecorder.com). Missing though is a live view of the EPG, or the ability to be told when a particular show will next be available live (for the cheapskates who don't want to pay for the recording service). Of course, one can always browse PublicRadioFan web site to see when a show is on.
