Directions: From hyw. 401 turn north on Oxford County Rd. # 6 towards
Stratford. About halfway between Embro and Stratford, turn West onto Oxford Rd
28. You will then pass through the small community of Herrington. Just through
the community turn right onto 31st Line. Travel exactly 1 kl north. On the
east side of the road there is a berm dividing the lake from a containment
pond. The Little Blue Heron is actively feeding in the containment pond along
with Great Egrets, shorebirds and other waterfowl. A scope would come in handy
as it is fairly distant at times.

Re: [Ontbirds] Eurasian Collared-dove in Dutton, Elgin County

2018-04-19 Thread Joanne Redwood via ONTBIRDS
It was requested of me to elaborate on my earlier email.

The Eurasian Collared Dove was still present and active (associating with one
of a pair of nesting Mourning Doves) at 229 Miller Road in Dutton this morning.
We mainly saw it at the house next door (225). I'm told not everyone is
convinced it is a ECDO so stay tuned until further notice, I guess.

Take 401W to exit 149. Turn right on Currie Rd., turn right on Pioneer Lane,
turn left on Miller Rd.
My gps took this address: 229 Miller Road, Dutton.

2018-02-22 Thread Joanne Redwood via ONTBIRDS
There are six Greater White-fronted Geese on Stoney Creek mtn in a flooded
field across from the Vinemount sign on Ridge Rd. between 10th Rd. E and 8th
Rd. E. No doubt these are the same 6 found by Mike MacLeod at a nearby
location yesterday. The number of waterfowl has greatly increased since
earlier this morning, including many (60+) Northern Pintails and American
Wigeons etc. Earlier there was also a Ring-necked Duck in the mix.

2017-06-16 Thread Joanne Redwood via ONTBIRDS
The previously reported Dickcissel is still singing strongly this morning.
Take Hwy 6 north, turn right on Dyers Bay Road. Stop your car before you reach
Crane Lake Rd. and you should hear and see him shortly. No need to leave
your car.
(It's still foggy here.)

on the north side of the North Service Road between Guelph Line and Brant St.
Both of these roads are accessed from the QEW. People are watching the bird
right now and he has been seen in various locations around the pond.

Re: [Ontbirds] 60 Greater White-fronted Geese near Haggersville

Still here, keeping well to the back of the pond at the moment and often
keeping out of sight behind the islands. They're swimming back and forth so
with a little patience you should get good looks at them. :)
