Determining configuration issues?

2015-02-16 Thread Lance Edward Miller
Hi All,

I'm very new to QS but am very impressed with the power and want to get
it working optimally and make it a central part of my mac experience. The
first most basic task I wanted to get working was email. I use gmail and
Chrome, installed mail, contacts, and gmail plugins. I get some
functionality, but not everything, so I have a few questions.

(1) I have two laptops and installed QS on both. The odd thing is I get an
error when trying to attached something to an email on one and not the
other. In particular, on one I get a com.google.Chrome mediator is
missing notification on one. I cannot find out where they are configured
differently or how to repair this!

(2) On the laptop without the error, the email writes but the file is not
attached. Why!

(3) Everything seems to go through apple contacts. I prefer to use gmail
contacts. Is that currently not available in the plugin? I'd rather not
sync if it can be avoided.

As I set this up, advice on how to troubleshoot myself would be
appreciated :).

Best,
Lance

Have you had a look at the Handlers section http://qs.qsapp.com/handlers of

re-installing the Chrome/Gmail plugins on the problematic machine to see if

Unfortunately this is a limitation with the web interface in Gmail. There’s
currently* no way to attach a file without physically doing it yourself.

Yes, unfortunately this is another limitation. The only ‘contacts’ plugin for
Quicksilver is for the built in Apple Contacts. This shouldn’t be a problem
though since the Contacts.app can sync pretty well with Gmail contacts (without
the need to ‘import’ anything. Try looking at the ‘Internet Accounts’ section

Tried both, no luck. Both Handlers match, and just deleted and reinstalled
the plugins with the same effect. I'm not really a programmer (anymore) but
can probably follow instruction if there is any easy way to diagnose (for

I know, and really this is a mild limitation, especially if I do what QS
seems to suggest is more natural (namely IMAP everything back to the mail
app, so that QS can completely send without opening.)

I could probably get pretty far, if I can get access to the manual that is
no longer linked on the website, any chance of sending a copy?

Also, a possible bug? If I create an email in the following manner:

***

1 - bring up QS
2 - enter text mode and type an email of the form

subject first line

second line

third line

3 - compose email to

4 - select contact

***

at least in gmail, the line breaks don't show up. This limits this function
greatly for gmail users; hopefully it is something naive I'm messing up.

Best,
Lance

Hopefully you have the manual now (from Rob) so fingers crossed you can work
some things out. Regarding what’s possible with the Gmail plugin - all it does
is constructs a URL for your browser to open. If Gmail has options (query
parameters) available as part of the URL, then the plugin can use it.

Regarding your problem with new lines - it works fine for me. Check the URL
when your browser opens the new Gmail link. The newlines should be percent
encoded as %0A

Hi Patrick,

This is directly from Console:

2/16/15 2:30:23.938 PM Quicksilver[799]: Mail mediator com.google.Chrome

On the other issue it seems the body string in this case is not posting

Here is versioning info in case it is helpful:

Thanks!
