[cayugabirds-l] Brown Thrashers

2015-04-28 Thread Donna Lee Scott
2 BROWN THRASHER yard birds!

Last year I had here 3 Brown Thrashers - I presumed they were a parent and 2
juveniles, hanging around the road edge and eating the bird food I put on the
ground in my front yard each day (I have the fattest squirrels in the county).

Today, 2 Brown Thrashers were foraging under the big Spruce tree in my front
yard; I wonder if they could be 2 of the ones from last year?
Whatever - they are beautiful yard birds!

I saw one B T on Sweazey Rd., Lansing, (off Rt. 34B) yesterday, in the
woods/orchard edge bushes.

[cayugabirds-l] Brown Thrashers

2014-07-23 Thread Donna Scott
2 young Brown Thrashers begging from their parent on front lawn where I put
bird seed each morning. Parent feeding them seeds, etc.

In past 2 weeks I have seen adult BT running up down side of road by longish
grass, then popping into the nearby bushes. Reminds me of a little Roadrunner w
that long tail erect head!

[cayugabirds-l] Brown Thrashers

2011-04-27 Thread Donna Scott
I enjoyed watching and listening to a pair of lovely BROWN THRASHERS dashing
around, then eating Staghorn Sumac seeds in a bushy, over-grown meadow above
Lansing Station Rd., Lansing, near east shore of Cayuga Lake, about 4 PM. One
bird had a fair amount of yellow on the margins of its breast.
