Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Gatekeeper acting weird for codec

2012-06-14 Thread Jason Murray
It because you have Inbound faststart configured on your gk trunk. You do this
so your sip phones will be able to call from cme to hq. The thing is the call
is G729 but call manager will negotiate G711 with faststart enabled going that
direction. Take off the checkmark for inbound faststart and the call will be
16k (test with your sccp phone), but you just now broken your calls for the sip
phones so you need it checked for all phones to work.

Randall is correct here.  UCM will always divert to the intra-region Service
Parameter settings.  Change this to 729 and then hard code your codec between
regions within the region parameters section.

Somebody from the group sent me a private message, but somehow I managed to
lose this message. This message was sent on my Facebook page, and I
received it on my iPad. So when I checked it on my computer, the message
was gone.

If you wanna know anything about the exam, I won't break NDA but I will be
more than willing to share a little of my experience on my two attempts. My
next attempt is coming up, but this one will be undisclosed. Personal
reasons :) Wanna send me a message? Please do so on my e-mail, I guarantee
I won't lose the message! :)

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] [MVA - CALLER PARTY NAME]

2012-06-14 Thread Peter Simmons

Michael,

I can replicate your observed behaviour by the following:

From the RDP, select the associated line on the top left.

When the "Directory Number Configuration" page appears, scroll down to
"Line 1 on Device X" where X is your RDP name.

If I leave the "Display ID" field(s) blank, I do not see any Calling
Name displayed whilst the destination phone is ringing.

If I complete this field (copy from the line configuration on the
associated phone, usually) then the Calling Name is displayed OK.

I may have other configuration/parameters set differently from you, but
these are the settings I alter to make this appear or not appear in my Lab.

What version of CUCM are you running? I am slighlty "up level" from
7.0.1, so it may work in my lab but not in _the_ Lab, if you follow me :-)

YMMV, but hope this helps.

regards

Peter

Greetings,

I'm working on a MVA lab that's asking for the 4 digit calling number and the
name. MVA is working perfectly, but nothing I do seems to enable the calling
party name.

Has anyone been able to accomplish sending the calling name when making an MVA
call? If so please share how you did it. If I make the MVA call it only
presents the four digits which is ok, but it won't show the calling name until
the call is answered. I've read many articles, some of which provide
solutions that don't work and some that say it's not supported so I'm looking
for the definitive answer on whether this can be done or not.

Any feedback appreciated. Thank you, --ms
