I would think you would need a transcoder at the site of your h323.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Fast start / codec question

2013-10-27 Thread Olu Oguntuga
Hi there,

Could someone please explain how to configure the following scenario:

I need to enable fast start for outbound and inbound call between pub , sub and
a h323 gateway. However codec requirements is that intra-site calls should use
g711 while inter-site calls use g729.

I have configured the codec requirement as stated, but when I set the fast
start codec to g711 it breaks the codec requirement for one site. Same thing
when I set the codec to use for fast start to g729, it breaks codec requirement
for another site.

For example for site A calls to use site b ( H323 GW) g729 codec is used. And
because I have enabled fast start codec as g729, that works OK.

But a call from site b, using site b (h323 gw) to the pstn, (fast start enabled
with g729 still), both site b gw and site b phone making the call are in same
region so codec should be g711. But the codec requirement is broken and codec
used is g729 because of the fast start codec selected. If I change fast start
codec to G 711, it will work but it breaks site A codec requirement because
calls from site A will now start to use G711 a cross the WAN.

how can I get round this, anyone has any Idea please.

Bill.

I just reproduced your issue in a working CUPC installation I have. Go into
the CUP Admin and check: Application > Cisco Unified Personal Communicator
> Settings. Are there any TFTP servers configured? (primary and backup,
sub/pub). Also check the Proxy Listener to be the Cisco Proxy TCP Listener.

I reproduced your issue by removing the TFTP servers configured there

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Fwd: CUPC Client will not register the softphone

2013-10-27 Thread Bill Hatcher
Stefano,

a) I don't get any kind of error on the server health window under either
the TFTP or the softphone. The TFTP section shows the IP Address for the
two tftp servers, but that's it. No connection information, nothing.

b) I don't even get a softphone option.

c) The UPC profile is associated to the user. I'm not sure what you mean
by am I using md5 passwords. I don't use digest credentials if that's what
you mean.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] RSVP Question

2013-10-27 Thread Ovidiu Popa
Hello

Ravindra is correct, I've just double checked:
- applying ip rsvp bandwidth to a subinterface automatically applies it to
the physical interface
- if you delete it from the physical interface, rsvp calls fail
- if you delete it from the subinterface it will NOT be deleted from the
physical interface

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUPC Client will not register the softphone

2013-10-27 Thread Bill Hatcher
I have encountered a very frustrating issue. I can do the full integration
between CUCM and CUPS. Everything will work, status, phone control, IM,
and voice mail. However no matter what I do I cannot get the softphone
capability to register. When I look at the show server health, the TFTP
server status shows the TFTP servers under the TFTP Configurations section,
but nothing else is populated. Server Address, Server Port, and Server
Protocol all show "---". The softphone shows as Not Active as well.

The user is HQ2, the softphone sevice name is UPCHQ2, and it is associated

Enabled and CCM End User groups are assigned.

The SIP trunk is set to use a cups SIP Trunk Security Profile. That
profile is set to non-secure, TCP+UDP for incoming, and TCP for outgoing,
Port 5060, and the Accept Presence Subscription, Out-of-Dialog REFER,
Unsolicited Notification, and Replace Headers are all checked.

In Service Parameters the CUP PUBLISH Trunk is set correctly, and Default
Inter-Presence Group Subscription is set to Allow Subscription.

The CtiGw applicaiton user account is configured with CTI Allow and CTI
