Re: very good news [SPAM discussion, off topic, ignore if not interested]
When I read the headers, for some reason this was passed despite being relayed thru an open relay server IP and this: Yes, score=10.7 required=5.0 in the spam-o-meter. Just playing around over the 4th, and trying to track down how this got thru. However, since the ezwind spam setting was exceeded, and the message came thru anyway, not much more to investigate as I'd think it should have not been forwarded. I sent a set of headers to the site in question, along with an explanation, as the site seems to be a "legit" site of some age selling crap vapor products, but obviously with a trap set the spammer here wants to divert people to. thanks jim On 7/3/2017 10:59 PM, steve via cctalk wrote: Hello, I've got good news for you, you'll be surprised)) Please, read more about it here Looking forward, steve Sent from Mail for Windows 10
offering to anyone with HP printers that is cursed with the Win 10 Creators
Here is what I found that works... for the benefit of all and any that get cursed by Creator Win 10 update! The secret seems to be cleaning out the old crap then reinstalling...Some one on a vintage electronics list pointed me to the following... THE FIX - The recommended... Follow the steps in the below article to uninstall the printer. http://hp.care/2ptt2ZN Once the printer is uninstalled completely, follow the instructions in the below document and install the printer. http://hp.care/2ptCI6c YES IT WORKS! We have our printer back. It is quite odd as you will loose network connectivity when doing it, you will also have your screen go to a lower res... However... when all is done the screen res. resets the computer will yes talk to the cable modem router again and all is just fine. All is good. I was luck to find this help as I had tried to search all the HP sites and MS sites etc. and got no where. I was pointed to this entry by someone on a vintage video equipment listserve as a possible solution.. Thanks Ed Sharpe archivist for SMECC www.smecc.org

All I could do was prop open the tape door with a paper clip. 45C in my fan oven worked for me. 55C in my oven seemed to mostly demagnetise the tape. Other ovens may be different, so it is best to experiment with something that doesn't matter. Regards Rob

Al Kossow wrote: https://strandgames.com/blog/magnetic-scrolls-games-source-code-recovered and now we know why all the questions were asked recently So, what are the currently-recommended tape baking temperatures and times? I have been using 58C/136F for 24 to 48 hours with some luck, but I feel that results could be better. What are other people using? I have several hundred more 800 bpi tapes to read, and my only 800 bpi drive is pretty rough on tapes, so I want to get it right. The drive is a Cipher 910 vacuum column drive. I also have about 100 TK50 tapes, if the temperature/time values are different for those. Thanks, Alan Frisabie

Z8001/Trump Card was in the May & June 1984 issues of Byte. There was a BASIC and a C compiler. I heard that it was a minor commercial success as some big company used them as a DB accelerator of some sort using custom programming. Would be interesting to track down that story. I vaguely recall Ciarcia did a 68000 or 32000 ISA card, but my google-fu fails me; probably misremembering. The video board for the SB180 was very cool, featuring an HD63484 video controller. Pretty advanced stuff back in those days. KJ

I seem not to be able to bring it back.\ Do not accept this update if you are in the middle of doing something critical and need to be able to print things out... I think that was called the "Trump Card" (which was generally a much more positive thing in the past).
