The mail server is probably limiting the mail to batches of 100.Also - if you want to keep things in synch you should use UID as this is guarnateed to be unique.

I see that when I CFPOP my mail server, I always get the last 100 messages. Not sure if this is set by the server or is something I can set via Cold Fusion.Either way though there is a problem that if I refer to messages via MESSAGENUMBER, this can change between grabbing them and deleting them or indeed grabbing them again as individual messages.

I am missing something right? :)

This has to be something set by the mail server as CFPOP usually gets
the first chronological message first.

It should do, its a long time since I tested it with a 4.0 installation as I
haven't run it in a while but the interface to CF hasn't changed from 3.1
onwards very much... just a couple of deprecated function calls which I have
never needed to use anyway.

Re: SOT: php on NT

WE currently play about with CF in an amateurish way and were thinking that we should
be doing a bit of dabbling with php as an alternative. However, the the security
warnings were alarming so we tried setting the 'safe mode' and other things as
recommended - no dice. Does not seem to work under Windows. Anybosy else have
similar experiences and/or solutions?

This who;e thing has now got me worried about CF security and whther I am doing enough
there. As I said I am a dabbler. Amy genral tips?

We have just installed a tape drive to do our own backups and it seems
to work ok for CF access dbs. We are having problems with the O'Reilly

much did it?

I'm asking because our hosting provider just told us that they can't
backup
our .mdb files, because they're locked when CF opens a connection to
them.

Most backup software should be able to back up locked files, they
generally
don't garuntee that the content is OK, but usually it shouldn't be a
problem. Sounds like you should look for a new providor.

File Download

2002-05-30 Thread Graham Lewis

This is an area I have not looked at in detail before so I am looking
for some pointers on the best way to proceed. - I am a CF dabbler not a
code jockey like you guys :-)

I make a selection on a page which stores the path to a file in a
variable (#PathToFile#). I now want to download that file by clicking a
button on the same page.I suppose I should relaod the page, passing
it the variable, and hyperlink the button with a url derived from the
file path (I gues there is a CF function for doing that?)

Is this possible or can anybody see a more sensible solution.

File Managemer

2002-05-23 Thread Graham Lewis

Re my last post on File Management systems. I found this freeware tag
on the CFAdviser Tag gallery. It appears to do the basics of what I
want and I can extend it later if need be.

File Manager

Author: Bryan Love
Company:
Submitted: Jan 08, 2002
Modified: Jan 28, 2002

However.

It correctly displays the directory structure and allows me to browse.
I can delete individual files but when I try anything else, I get a
dialogue telling me that I nned to select a folder in which/upon which
to perform the action. I had alreadt done so but this seems not to be
picked up. Any ideas?

It has just ocurred to me that this might be a v5 specific tag as I am
running v4.5

If you're doing bar graphs you can do them easily without a tag.

The basic idea is to have a transparent 1x1 pixel gif. Do your calculation
s on your data.then
dynamically set the height of the 1 pixel gif (and set different bgcolors
on the td's for different
bars) and manually set the width. The gif will stretch to the desired bar
sizes.

Re: fusebox stats

2000-09-08 Thread Graham Lewis

I had a similar problemwith an application I built last year. It wasn't
entirely fusebox but it did always call the same index.cfm. What I
did was log the variables in a table ie I recorded the state whenever
index.cfm was called. So if we go
index.cfm?action=redframes=yes and SESSION.people is "fred"
I just log all those variables.

Bit of a quick fix but it works

against the main index.cfm page, not the actual page that was hit.

How on earth do I track these pages individually? How can I tell how many
people looked at the contact page, or the support page or whatever??

 Thanks for any ideas...

Re: Query with a Query problem!

Just a thought: I don't know the details of your database
application but from your description, I wonder whether you need to
have two tables. If the same fields are in both, perhaps you could
manage with one table and perhaps an additional field that makes
whatever distinction having them in two tables currently makes if
you see what I mean.

Scheduled tasks

2000-05-21 Thread graham lewis

I have been trying to use the task schedular to do a date
comparison and send off an email when certain resources in the db
are older than a certain date.

I tried doing this through the CF admin interface but nuttin' happens.
Any clues anybody? I set the URL to be exected to an absolute
one:

http://www.focus.ac.uk/cfdocs/focus/framework/focus_dates.cfm

I have stripped out the real code and just put in a CFMAIL that
send me a test message and this works if I run it directly

I treid a number of variations on ways of running the task from the
task manager and am aware of the delay that the task manager has
in checking new tasks (default is 15min, I alktered it to 5 mins for
testing)

No log file was been created to consult.

Perhaps I should try the CFSCHEDULE tage instead but, despite
the manual, I am unclear exactly how that works.

It is possible that the problem is in NT. My NT server can't log
accesses and may be screwed in other ways

Any and all suggestions (except 'switch to UNIX') appreciated

Re: CF processing

2000-05-04 Thread graham lewis

This might point you in the right direction;

call this template test.cfm

CFSET i = #URL.var#
CFSET count = #URL.count#

CFIF #count# LT 100
Count is now: #i#BR
CFSET i = i + 1
CFLOCATION URL="test.cfm?i=#i#count=#count#"
/CFIF

start it off with calling
test.cfm?i=1count=1

Obviously there are variations on ths such as using SESSION
variables - it really depends on what yopu are trying to do - I suspect
you don't want to just count to 100.

And then execute this I won't see the iteration in my web browser as
it is being generated but rather the whole page when it is done.
I would very much know if there is a way to have cf pass the template
to the webserver step by step until it's done instead.
