You will need a dedicated server for remote desktop access, no host will

They Reseller package is only $25/m for 5 domains. It comes with lots of
features and MySQL. For $10 more you can get MS SQL Server.

http://hostek.com/web-hosting-reseller.asp

Or if that's more than you want to pay get with me and I can set you up
under my reseller package.

While it does pop up once a month, I'm not sure that is a bad thing.
Hosting these days is mostly a commodity business, and with all the
consolidation that goes on, the great host today might not be tomorrow.
The archives might say HMS is great, but then they might get bought by
Intermedia and be teh suck.

I've had a lot of good experience with CFDynamic's shared hosting. For around
$16 a month (1 year prepay) you get CF5/CFMX 7/BD 6.2, MySQL or SQL Server,
about 5 gig transfer, etc. You can look at the full details of all 3 levels of
accounts at
http://www.cfdynamics.com/sharedhosting/sharedhosting_comparison.cfm.

I've found their tech support to be excellent (their tech support people
actually know CF), and as important, they are strong community supporters as
well.

Correct. No one except myself I guess still use viux.com, I've been
with them for a few years with my reseller account and haven't had any
real big problems. Cheep and they are about to switch over to
smartertools for mail and stats... SWEET!

Outside of that we (9-5) job that pays the bills, use HMS for
coldfusion hosting, but most of this falls into the dedicated box
scenario.

RE: Hosting companies

2006-09-08 Thread Rick
This is a loaded question...

Everyone likes the place they are at and think they are the best, so do I.

I have made many suggestion as many others have. What I do notice is that no
one seems to be using the services that I use and most everyone is using the
same services. That tell's me that most everyone is just following the
majority with out giving the other smaller services a chance. And if they
have used the services they are not commenting on them.

I think if you have had bad experience you should share and in turn good
experience.

I use eNom over GoDaddy have for many years. They have an API, easy to use
DNS, email services and much more. They also have 2 types of reseller
accounts that are free and easy to use.

I am with Hostech.com for only $25/month.

FREE Setup
$5/month per added domain
Windows, ColdFusion or Linux hosting
3+ GB disk space
50+ GB traffic per month
100 Email accounts per domain
Static IP per domain

And there is more and its month to month billing.

I shopped around and found no one that could match this.
