Re: [cfaussie]

2012-07-20 Thread AJ Mercer
maybe a permissions issue??
 http://cftest.yoursite.net.au/cfc/
= 403

On 21 July 2012 12:42, Brett Payne-Rhodes bret...@gmail.com wrote:

In migrating from CF8 to CF10 I have come across and issue with the ?wsdl
generation... I generally put components into a /cfc directory immediatley
below the webroot for each site but I have found that with CF10 the ?wsdl
query is failing. This doesn't really matter much at the moment as the
services are all being consumed from the client side using javascript and
jQuery but I am concerned that this could soon be an issue as we start to
 expand our use of services.

As an example I have created a very simple Hello World cfc and when I put
the file into the webroot everything works fine:

 http://cftest.yoursite.net.au/hello1.cfc?wsdl and

 http://cftest.yoursite.net.au/hello1.cfc?method=helloWorld works fine

However if I move the cfc into a directory below the webroot things get
 confused...

http://cftest.yoursite.net.au/cfc/hello2.cfc?wsdl - given an AXIS error,
 but

 http://cftest.yoursite.net.au/cfc/hello2.cfc?method=helloWorld still
 gives the expected result

I wondered if there was a chance that the name of the directory could be
an issue so I tried an alternative but there was no difference...

 http://cftest.yoursite.net.au/cfxx/hello3.cfc?wsdl still give en error,
 and

 http://cftest.yoursite.net.au/cfxx/hello3.cfc?method=helloWorld still
 works as expected

I've read quite a few posts about mappings and cfcs but con't find
anything definitive. This is a multihomed server running Apache2.2 so I'm
not sure how a mapping would help - unless there is something that CF needs
mapped but I can't find a hint for that anywhere.

One other thing to note... I did edit the neo_xmlrpc.xml file to version 1
but the only effect appears to be that the error message says AXIS error
for a version value 1 and HTTP Status 500 for a version value of 2.

So, am I just missing a mapping? I even tried mapping / to the CF10
webroot but that had no effect.

 Many thanks!

 Brett

I have a java api I am using. I was hoping to invoke it natively via CF

which are also used by CF. Problem is when I dump these in CF9/lib I get
errors due to CF wanting to use diff versions than the api I am using.

I was wondering if there was a way with CF to somehow specify that a
certain created object uses a certain classpath/set of packages rather
than inheriting all the CF ones. If I am just going about this all the
wrong way feel free to highlight my ignorance.

Given Railo's relationship with JBoss I find it unlikely Adobe would

I was also surprised on the lack of doco to make JBoss and Raili play

Pretty much what Sean said. simplest way is to have a file for every
page and a cfc handle the logic in a function for requests. Not sure
why ur against the MVC folder structure though. yeah its a bit hard at
the start with so many files , but this is what makes the project
scalable and easy to manage. surely u wouldnt give away all these
advantages just coz it takes a bit of effort to get used to the
 general use and structure.

 Hi Glen (and thanks Mark),

I'll keep that link at the bottom of the page pointing at the latest alpha
 - it's just ticked over to 0.8, which includes local failover of service
 instances.

Note that the remote part of Galaxy is just standard cfc under the web root
(remoting, web service, json, wddx) - the difference to the developer is
that when you're calling a remote version of the service you actually use an
instance of the service cfc rather than an instance of a webservice.

Please feel free to check it out and contribute - like I said, it's so out
there that it's really going to take some good community feedback to turn it
 into something really useful.

Re: [cfaussie] Grouping Date / time values in a Cfquery output

have a look for date/time function available for your database server to
format or build out date/time string and group on that

2009/11/23 rai...@ozemail.com.au

  Hi,

I have a table that has duplicate records with columns of date and
 description and user

I have a query that groups all the records by date and the sub groups
those records by description which results in those duplicate records that
were created on the same date with the same description to be grouped
 together

The problem is that the date field has a time stamp which includes seconds
therefore the above grouping does not capture all the duplicates given the
seconds in the time stamp make many of the dates unique

Is there some way I can get around this so that the grouping of the query
only looks at the date component excluding the

time component of the date/time stamp

10-Nov (Sydney): Rumour and speculation only at this time, but its
possible we might have the FORTA and Terry in town for a gab-fest at

11-Nov (Melbourne): Inaugural FarCry DevCamp at Melbourne Law School.
The future of the open source FarCry framework and CMS, technical

 lot of fun. http://farcrydevcamp.eventbrite.com/

12-13 Nov (Melbourne): Inaugural CFOBJECTIVE ANZ!!! (Complete with the

Adam Lehman was on cf hour and the Suite idea came up.
Whilst he would not make a comment on it, he was saying how the development
life-cycles of all the eclipse based product were going to be kept in sync.
He then said you an draw your own conclusions from that.

The point he was also making was that if it was to be included in the CS
suite, then they would have to keep it in sync with that life-cyle. His
tone/attitude/read-between-the-lines was that was not going to happen.

Well, that was my take on the pod cast.
make up your own mind

 Would that work?

[cfaussie] Re: CFC call function of calling CFC

2009-02-01 Thread AJ Mercer
also, I am using ColdSpring to pass in initialised objects
So this should avoid the recursive calls.

2009/2/2 Simon Haddon simon.had...@gmail.com

Sometimes you cannot extend it cause the CFC you want to work with could
dynamically change. I have had this situation on scientific applications
which worked with synthesised data and the CFC being called changed
depending on what analysis they performed. In this case I wanted the same
 interface for all the components.

Having said that. If A calls B and then B calls A I would rethink your
design as I do not think that type of tight coupling is a good idea. And,
especially if B is called in init, you could end up in a recursive situation
 in no time at all.

 Cheers,
 Simon

[cfaussie] CF702 - cfquery caching

2008-04-07 Thread AJ Mercer
Hi Fusioneers,

I have an SQL I would like to cache, but have two strategies depending on
the parameters

If the parameters are for the current month, I only want to cache the query
for 1 day
If it is for a past month, I want to start the caching from after the last
day of that month

cfquery has two attributes to do this
- cachedwithin
- cachedafter

So I thought I would do this, but it looks like CF does not like the CFIF
inside the cfquery tag
cfset rptDate = CreateDate(URL.year, URL.month, DaysInMonth(Now())) /

cfquery name=qryStatsByMonth
 datasource=#APPLICATION.DataSourceMain#
cfif DateDiff('m', rptDate, Now()) EQ 0
  cachedwithin=#CreateTimeSpan(1,0,0,0)#
cfelse
   cachedafter=#rptDate#
/cfif

Any ideas how I can do this?

For now, I will put the cfif on the outside and have two cfqueries.
Guess this is not a bad way of doing it, just thought it would be neat if it
could be done with one query.

You are already *after* the last day of the previous month. Having such a
 statement is unnecessary.

Just use the cachedwithin parameter and be done with it. It's a good idea
not to store caches in memory for too long (e.g. more than a day).

Otherwise, create a method for caching your queries based on parameters.
Store them in memory (e.g. application scope) or save them to file (e.g.
WDDX). At least that way you have full control over when and how your
 queries are cached.

advanced datagrid and improved CSS capabilities; powerful tooling additions
like refactoring; and extensive testing tools including memory and
performance profiling, plus the addition of the automated testing framework
to Flex Builder.

Adobe AIR is game-changing in so many ways, delivering rich applications on
the desktop, enabling access to the local file system, system tray,
notifications and much more. Now you can write RIAs on the desktop using the
same skills that you've been already using to create great web apps
including both Flex and AJAX.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to see and hear about this highly
anticipated release of Flex 3 and AIR at this meeting.

Our SQL Server has just been reinstalled and now our CF application is

It used to work, so I am thinking there might be a setting in SQL Server
  somewhere that enables this
   Is this the case?
