I don't know so can't correct you. I thought the whole idea was that the image gets loaded in the cache through loading it with javascript. I might just change the two images to one image and use CSS to display the right part of the image - cause this preloading is giving me a head ache at the moment ;-) Thanks. If you do that the IE bug will still make the images flicker. couple of things correct me if I am wrong but preloading images only works if you use JavaScript to switch the images, not with a style sheet. The image is cached within the browser and is accessed through the object reference, not the image it self. Secondly, there is a bug in IE that images used in style sheets are not cached, so each time you call a class for your rollover, the image is re loaded into the browser which causes the flicker if you are using style sheets to control your image mouse overs.
