Re: Stus-List Centreboard
Richard I could count on one hand the number of times I used the centreboard in the 10 years I've owned Persuasion. I believe the board has been jammed since 2007 or 2008. You may recall that the pendant became disconnected while we were away hence the repair now. Mike PERSUASION C 37 K/CB Long Sault > On Aug 23, 2016, at 3:38 PM, Richard N. Re: Stus-List Centreboard
Hi Richard Several years ago during haul out I noticed the board was not up all the way and the fibreglass at the end was frayed. The crane director asked me what I wanted to do. I had no choice but to place Persuasion in her cradle. As she was set down on her keel you could hear the fibreglass crunch. From then on it was jammed up. Probably low water and backing in and out on my slipped caused the fibreglass damage and spreading on the board breaking the seal of the filler. Mike, thanks for sharing, they are fascinating photos! I recall that you had some centerboard issues during your trip; what was the source of the "chunk" out of the leading edge of the board? Stus-List centreboard channel woes CC 35-3
Help! I have a CC 35-3 with a centerboard. Last week we grounded on a sandbank (pretty gentle grounding actually) and the centreboard channel tube started to leak a little at the elbow (I don't really know what this is called, but it is the tube in the cabin that goes from the deck straight down to the keel in which the centreboard cable is housed). I've had the boat hauled to make the repair - but I can't seem to get the darn thing out. I have removed the bolts at the deck that connect the topside pulley through the hull to the channel tube in the cabin and I have undone the 4 nuts at the bottom that connect the tube to the hull at the keel (there are plates welded to the channel tube at the top and bottom for attachment). I have spent a pile of hours working at the bedding compound beneath the tube to try and free it but no joy. Does anyone have any idea of how this thing attaches? Do I need to drop the keel in order to remove it or is the bedding compound just really tenacious? Any insight would be appreciated! Re: Stus-List centreboard channel woes CC 35-3
Phil Any photos? You may need un-5200 (I think that's the name) to dissolve the adhesive/bedding compound. Just a guess.
