Re: Stus-List mast step question
I'm glad it worked out. Somebody went to a lot of trouble to rivet and tap the mast for screws. I'd like to see inside that mast. > On June 1, 2019 at 4:11 PM Daniel Cormier via CnC-List > wrote: > > Thanks everyone! Re: Stus-List mast step question
Thanks everyone! We were able to remove the mast today without a hitch. The screws at the bottom weren’t screwed into anything, however I can see that if we had a certain type of mast shoe they could be used to secure the mast. Thanks so much! Re: Stus-List mast step question
Wow! Those three screwsat the bottom of the mast hold something. Maybe a plug or maybe some component bolted through the mast step? If you don't get a better answer, I'd remove them before the crane starts pulling the mast. Once the mast is up a bit, you'll see what's involved there and know better for future. I think I would remove all the screws in that area, five each side. Offshore racing rules require the mast be bolted to the step, but one long bolt is usually used for that. Please send more pictures when she's lifted up. Re: Stus-List mast step question
It looks to me like those screws in the mast may hold the mast to the step as required by IYRU ( or whatever they're calling themselves today) for offshore racing. I would definitely remove the screws. I can’t think of a downside if I’m wrong, and you certainly don’t want to try getting the step out through the partners! Re: Stus-List mast step question
I see the screws in the side of the mast. Your mast step may extend up into the base of the mast and is held by those screws. Is there access to those screws on the other side of the mast? If you remove only the 4 hex heads that hold the step plate down the question becomes will the step plate fit through the deck? Wouldn't hurt to remove the screws in the side of the mast and see if the extrusion slides off the step plate. Dennis C.
