Re: Stus-List Irma heads up -> "head-fake"

2017-09-01 Thread Dreuge via CnC-List
Hi

This was just put out by a colleague at FSU:

Hurricane IRMA has winds of 115 mph which makes it a Category 3 storm. It is
possible to became a Category 4 storm but, most likely, when closest to land,
it will be a Category 3 storm with winds in the 127 mph range. The track has
some uncertainly this far from land (it is currently in the mid Atlantic). This
weekend Irma with turn south as if it were headed toward the Antilles. I
would liken this to a "head-fake" in basketball. by mid week IRMA (perhaps as
a Category 4 storm will begin to turn WNW and then NW and then NNW as it heads
up the east coast, OFF SHORE. It will pass by 50-100 miles east of the Bahamas
toward the end of next week and 100 miles east of Miami, and Florida next
weekend. It will travel up the east coast before tuning to the NE and back out
to see half way up the coast.

Discussion: The European model has been closest to my analysis. They have
spanked the US models. The excuse of inadequate
U.S. computer power just isn't true. The forecast presented here is almost
certain to be as stated through mid week. There is high pressure in the
Atlantic. It is driving IRMA westward. There is a strong front approaching
and the front is forecast to erode the western end of the high pressure and
push IRMA to the north instead of west. If you have plans for the Bahamas for
early next week, it PRESENTLY looks good. A lot depends on just how strong
this approaching front will be when it gets to the coast! The next few days
will tell. If it takes the southerly route will most likely get into the gulf,
and follow closely to the path of Harvey without a landfall in Texas. This is
in the category of not likely, but still one of the top 3 possible routes.
Again, it all depends on the strength of the approaching front. Hope it is
strong.

I’m taking a run at another boat and may be in need of a reputable surveyor in
the Sarnia Ontario area. Any listers around there that know of a good surveyor
I can contact?

I haven’t seen the boat yet as it’s a good 7-8 hour drive from me and paying a
surveyor for a proper report and saving me a trip would be well worth it I
think.

Also looking for transport services within Ontario if anyone would like to

Re: Stus-List Big Boat on my property C 33 mk1

2017-09-01 Thread David Kaseler via CnC-List
Joe,
The original 33s are great boats we still have ours and love her. For us, she
both cruises and races well. Old IOR design creates some challenges with the
spinnaker in a blow but you can learn to deal with that. From our prospective
she is the right size for a couple.
Hope you find a buyer. If she still has her Atomic 4 gas engine many potential
buyers may see that as a negative but we just replaced our old Atomic 4 with a
rebuilt one from Moyer Marine. Don Moyer is the man for these engines and has a
great website where he sells endless parts, a complete repair and rebuild
manual and rebuilt engines with new heads and manifolds and if you want to pay
a bit more he even sells "rebuilt" engines with new blocks.
Good luck on finding a buyer.

Stus-List Surveyor – Sarnia Ontario area

2017-09-01 Thread Sean Richardson via CnC-List
I’m taking a run at another boat and may be in need of a reputable surveyor
in the Sarnia Ontario area. Any listers around there that know of a good
surveyor I can contact?

I haven’t seen the boat yet as it’s a good 7-8 hour drive from me and
paying a surveyor for a proper report and saving me a trip would be well
worth it I think.

Also looking for transport services within Ontario if anyone would like to
share their experiences and recommendations.

Stus-List Surveyor ? Sarnia Ontario area

2017-09-01 Thread Tom Buscaglia via CnC-List

Sean

I'll second that. Andrews, home-based in Niagara on the Lake was
built on distributing C boats throughout north America, I suspect
that 80% or more of Cs not on Lake Ontario or Erie were originally
delivered by Andrews. I trusted them bringing Alera from NotL to
Seattle and they did a great job. Just don;t ask for a delivery any
time near the Toronto boat show because all their truck are booked
for a month or so for that event.

http://www.andrewstrucking.com/

Gert Tiel did my survey. Not sure he is anywhere near your target
boat. His survey was not at all detailed. But I was so in love at
the time that I just didn't care. And I figured that after building
a few thousand C, Gert coul d pretty much spot anything
serious. This site might come in handy if you're looking for on in
Ontario.

Re: Stus-List Webasto heater for a c 38 III

2017-09-01 Thread Ken Heaton via CnC-List
Our Espar is a BDL5L so 5500 watts. It heats the entire 37+ interior
without trouble, including the aft cabin, even in winter when I'm working
inside the boat. This is in Canada.

A C 38 III doesn't have an aft cabin so I'd think an EVO 40 would be
enough.

Do you want to heat the boat in the winter?
