Thanks, this seems like a great opportunity to model good behavior by birders
and inspire interest in non-birders!

On my way to a funeral (so I couldn’t stop for long) the large cackling and

a Ross’s and last week there were three greater white fronted geese( no time
today to scan to check). They can be seen from the Diagonal or Monarch Road.

I have resident white breasted nuthatches, year round. The red breasted

through at least once a day, and some spiffy American goldfinches have been
singing up a storm. Just some fall notes from Niwot.

very good job but wanted to test Merlin, and, no surprise, the blue jay won.

Re: [cobirds] Possible American Redstart at Lowell Ponds

2023-06-12 Thread elena
I agree, I did see a couple of American Redstarts this spring on migration but I saw Merlin repeatedly identify AMRE when a yellow warbler was singing. I did see and hear a yellow warbler and saw Merlin call it a redstart, so another example of how Merlin can be a great tool for learning, identifying and locating birds but it should not be used as a definitive identificación. Many times our ears can hear much more than Merlin.  Merlin is definitely improving, but not for 100% identity without our own judgement. Sent from my iPhoneElena Holly KlaverFederally Certified Court InterpreterConference InterpreterEnglish <> Spanish303 475 5189Member: American Translators AssociationColorado Translators Association Pronouns: she, her, hersI acknowledge that I live in the territory of Hinóno’éí (Arapaho), Cheyenne and Ute Nations, according to the 1851 Treaty of Fort Laramie, and that Colorado’s Front Range is home to many Native peoples. Birders -

I’ve noticed a change in Goldfinch (both American and Lesser)
behavior over the past 6 years or so.

I live in Roxborough Village, and going back 5-6 years, we had a
dramatic increase in the numbers of Goldfinches. Two foot-tall
mesh thistle feeders would be covered with a dozen Goldfinches
each, with easily a dozen or more waiting to feed. It was normal
for them to consume 1/2 to 2/3 of the seed from each feeder daily.

Local populations crashed roughly 3-4 years ago, with almost no
Goldfinches showing up at my feeders. Oddly, at that time, I
noticed that the remaining Goldfinches had gravitated to my
(shelled) sunflower seed feeders. This continued for a roughly 3
years, with only one or two Goldfinches showing up at a time.

So far, this seemed normal as populations shift, and Goldfinches
are known to eat sunflowers, but they were completely ignoring my
  thistle feeders.

This year has brought more Goldfinches - as many as 10 at a time -
but the unusual thing is that they ALL are eating sunflower seeds
and ALL ignoring my thistle feeders.

I dumped all my older seed and have completely refilled my thistle
feeders twice, and have moved one to the front yard, but the
Goldfinches continue to eschew my thistle feeders and in both
front and back yards now exclusively eat sunflower seeds.

At the same time, House Finches are also ignoring my thistle
  feeders.

While it’s possible I’ve purchased a bad or old batch of thistle,
I’d like to think that the bird supply retailer I use hasn’t
  received bad seed.

So my question to the group is whether anyone else is seeing
Goldfinches at their feeders refusing to eat thistle?

  Thanks!

  Jim Tyler

I was about to write that the bobolinks have bobbed back to the area west of McCall lake, south of highway 66 east of Lyons, many flying around in the field and singing. [cobirds] Hybrid cinnamon/blue winged teal, Monte Vista

2023-03-12 Thread elena
At the Monte Vista NWR this weekend, Courtney Rella and I saw a hybrid
cinnamon/blue winged teal. The duck had a clear pale crescent on his cheek, and
a very reddish side with faint spots. The tail looked very much like a cinnamon
teal tail. He was with a male cinnamon teal and a female blue winged teal. The
weather was great, thousands of sandhill cranes, many expected waterfowl, a
greater yellowlegs; we didn’t have any other unexpected birds, and the turnout
was really good.

[cobirds] Bohemian waxwings in or near Gold Hill

2023-01-14 Thread Elena Holly Klaver
A friend sent me a video today of a smallish flock of about 8 Bohemian waxwings
in or near Gold Hill, at about 8,500'. I couldn’t actually see from the video
to distinguish them from cedars, but the audio was very clear, and clearly
Bohemians. Having just had a large (81) flock of them on the Loveland CBC, the
sound was fresh in my mind. Nice to see them in Gold Hill, it makes one wonder
if this is part of the same flock moving around, or if there are just a lot
more this year scattered in many places.

[cobirds] Yellow Bellied Sapsucker again in Niwot

2022-12-19 Thread Elena Holly Klaver
Dear birders, it seems like these guys are around pretty regularly. This
morning, drawn by the ineffable dawn light (I hope some of you saw it; it was
amazing!), I went outside at dawn, and in the same tree where a juvenile YBSU
came from November 2020 to early January, one was there. This one looked,
again, like a juvenile male, so it’s not the same one as 2 years ago. If
anyone wants to come by, that is fine, just please don’t block the driveway-
email or text me for the address. Hopefully he will stick around again, and
those of you who do year lists can start off 2023 with him on your list.

On another note, I had the most chill northern harrier I have ever seen while
doing the Boulder CBC yesterday on the Bobolink trail between Baseline and
Table Mesa. She sat on the fence while many people and dogs went by very close
to her. She also vocalized several times, the “eeyah” whistle-like call used,
apparently, for territory or for soliciting food. I wasn’t able to record,
because it was intermittent and there was a lot of noise from people and dogs,
but it was surprising how habituated she seemed to be to the presence of two-
and four-leggeds. If anyone is looking to take pictures of a harrier, that
would be a good bet.

[cobirds] snow geese on Dodd Reservoir (Boulder County)

Dodd Reservoir (Monarch Road just west of Diagonal Highway) is filling up with

some other geese, although I didn’t see anyone else.

Re: [cobirds] a Williamson's Sapsuckers nest in Boulder County

2022-07-06 Thread elena
Cara Stiles and I went to Caribou Ranch for the Indian Peaks Bird Count, and
had a pair of Williamson’s Sapsuckers feeding young in a nest in an aspen tree.

Re: [cobirds] Birding books

2022-07-05 Thread elena
The ABA has a program to get books to aspiring birders and guides in other
countries where they can’t always afford them, you might check them out. And
Boulder Audubon in the past has held a holiday sale in November and might be
interested, but you would have to ask them; it’s been cancelled for the last
couple of years.

2022-05-08 Thread elena
Wonderful! I would love to go with you all some time. Also if you want to do
your Como survey let me know I would love to go with you again. I just spent
all day yesterday in Arapahoe County with the CFO birding day, no surprises
(lots of wind) but nice to be out and a number of FOS species.

[cobirds] carpooling to Rawhide CBC tomorrow, Dec 26?

2021-12-25 Thread elena
Dear folks, if anyone who has already pre-registered with compiler Douglas
Kibbe for the Rawhide CBC is interested in carpooling, please contact me, email
or phone/text. I will be driving from Niwot, going through Longmont and up
through Fort Collins. Doug suggested a place to meet in Fort Collins. I am
just hoping to not drive unnecessarily, as some of the CBCs I am doing involve
a lot of driving already. Thanks!

[cobirds] Great Boulder Caper 2021

2021-11-27 Thread elena
Friday, November 26, a small group of birders set out to continue the Great
Boulder Caper started by Ted Floyd about 15 years ago. Undeterred by COVID or
turkey hangovers, Hannah Floyd, Alejo Williams, Megan Jones Patterson, and
Elena Klaver met at Walden Ponds and began birding Walden and Sawhill Ponds.
We spent about two hours there, as the temperature rose to almost summer
levels, with no bird surprises, but some spanking hooded mergansers, good
numbers of waterfowl, and possibly a record number of muskrats (8-10). We then
drove through Boulder County’s Raptor Alley, Lookout Road between 75th and
95th, where we had two ferruginous hawks and two immature bald eagles, as well
as a couple of red tailed hawks, but not the northern harriers who have
sometimes graced that area. After dropping off Alejo, the three of us went to
Greenlee Preserve/Waneka Lake, where the geese did not disappoint. There were
large numbers of cackling geese, Canada geese, a probable snow/cackling goose,
a probable Ross’s/cackling goose, and a hatch year snow goose, who was grayish
white with a dark bill (ID thanks to Ted Floyd texting from the Qatar airport
with Hannah’s photos). Finally, with Hannah having to leave for academic
pursuits, Megan and Elena continued to Hecla Lake, where another snow/cackling
hybrid was lounging with numerous other cackling and Canada geese, and other
waterfowl. A wonderful day was had by all, with the caper ending around 1:45.
The weather was wonderfully mild, compared to some years where it has been
bitterly cold, and we had a wonderful time upholding the tradition of birding
instead of shopping.

[cobirds] Ross’s geese on Dodd

2021-11-14 Thread elena
Yesterday I wrote that there were three snow geese on Dodd reservoir (Boulder
County, Niwot/Monarch Roads and 75th St) but I didn’t have a scope. Looking at
them this morning they appear to be Ross’s geese, along with hundreds of
cackling geese and a few hybrids. I welcome corrections! A beautiful morning to
be out birding, for sure.

[cobirds] Snow goose hybrids on Dodd Reservoir

2021-11-13 Thread elena
Dodd Reservoir, Boulder County, just east of the Diagonal Highway and Niwot
Road, had several of the snow goose hybrids who Ted Floyd reported at
Waneka/Greenlee. So far no other geese seen but there are many to check out.

[cobirds] Cranes over Rabbit Mountain

2021-10-29 Thread elena
While on a midday walk on Rabbit Mountain (east of Lyons, Boulder County) and
after having run into a birder where we both were looking at three golden
eagles, and having lamented that I hadn’t seen or heard sandhill cranes this
fall headed south, about twenty minutes later I heard the unmistakeable sound
of a sandhill crane. It sounded like only one or two, and I never could get
them in sight, but from the sound, they came from north-northwest and then
headed east. Great birthday present! Maybe it was just a couple of stragglers
from a larger flock.

Re: [cobirds] Blue Jay mimics Cooper’s call, Boulder County

2021-10-10 Thread Elena Holly Klaver
The blue jays in my yard have been doing very good Cooper’s hawks imitations,
as well. I have been fooled a couple of times; the imitations are better than
their imitations of red tailed hawks.

[cobirds] Ibis at Lagerman

2021-08-08 Thread elena
It’s hard to tell which ibis, and I learned from Steve Mlodinow that they
should be registered as glossy/white faced. No clear white mark on the face,
seems a little more greenish on the body abs reddish on the neck. On the west
side with cormorants.

[cobirds] Red headed Woodpecker and indigo/lazuli bunting, Eldorado Springs

2021-05-26 Thread elena
Cobirders, the red headed woodpeckers who have been along the Fowler Trail for
the last few years are back. The Fowler Trail is just east of Eldorado
Springs, and the birds are in a dead tree where they were the last couple of
years (maybe more, I am not sure, but for sure the last two years) about 3/4
mile from the trailhead (which becomes very crowded at times as parking is
limited). Also a little ways up the trail is a hybrid indigo/Lazuli bunting,
who was there last year, seen this morning in the same snag where he was seen
last year. Nice to have a little stability! The bunting has a blue head and
bib, whitish belly, no red at all, and seems to be singing a kind of mixed
song.

There was a Tennessee warbler yesterday at Twin Lakes, along the trail a little

[cobirds] Northern waterthrush at Sawhill Ponds, Boulder

2021-05-09 Thread elena
Peter Williams, Jay Hutchins and i had a northern waterthrush at Sawhill Ponds
this morning around 10:00 am at the wonderfully birdy southeast corner of the
pond just north of the first Sawhill pond from the parking area. Peter first
heard the bird and thought it was a waterthrush but we were looking at a clay
colored sparrow, orange crowned warbler and several yellow rumped warblers.
Peter and I recorded audio of the bird, and as he played it to see if it had
recorded, the bird flew out and into trees at the north end of the first pond.
We got fleeting views of the waterthrush, but no one got pictures. Peter and I
have audio; he has already posted his audio in an ebird list. We also saw the
bittern who has been seen at that pond at pond #5, though another birder saw
two bitterns at that northeast Sawhill pond where we had the waterthrush. We
also saw the summer tanager thanks to other birders who were already watching
him at the westernmost trail at Sawhill. Great birding, and if you have
feeders, please consider putting out suet and fruit for birds arriving in the
cold.

[cobirds] Snowy egret at Lagerman

2021-04-23 Thread elena
My FOS snowy egret was in the tree with two double crested cormorants and a few
great blue heron nests just north of Lagerman at sunset. No birds out of the
ordinary, the northern harrier pair are pretty regular west of the reservoir. A
few nights ago there was a nice flock of about ten mountain bluebirds. The
dunlin seems to have moved on. Both adult bald eagles have been out of the nest
lately in a tree to the west of the nest. Does anyone know if the nest failed
due to the snow?

[cobirds] Wilson's Snipe in Boulder

Some friends who live on Kalmia just a block west of Highway 36 had a snipe in
their yard. She sent the photo to me for an ID, and it was a snipe. They
don’t have water in their yard, and she thought it might have been hurt, but
when she went out to see if she could catch it to take it to Greenwood, it flew
off.

[cobirds] Merlin, mink, et al White Rocks, Boulder

2021-02-20 Thread elena
On an outing this afternoon at White Rocks Trail east of Boulder we had a
merlin (photos available on request, not mine but friend Max Bello’s, with a
long lens) an immature bald eagle, a couple of common goldeneye in the creek,
and no other avian surprises. The red winged blackbirds have been singing more,
though the water was all frozen over and ducks were few. But at the creek just
north of Valmont, as the trail heads north, there were two mink actively
fishing. One caught a small fish and the other caught a huge fish that was
bigger than the mink, it looked like a trout. The mink dragged the still
flopping fish off to the side of the creek and into the willows, and then
dragged it further away along the creek. Max was able to get photos. It was an
exciting end of the trail!

[cobirds] Merlin at Sawhill Ponds, Boulder

2021-01-26 Thread elena
Today in the light snow I went with a visiting Chilean friend to Sawhill in
search of owls and whoever else was around. We dipped on the owls, but found a
Merlin, I think female prairie, very brown, no grey. He took pictures, which I
can send if anyone wants (once he sends them to me) and which I will post on
the eBird list. Lots of hooded and common mergansers, no surprises, but a
wonderful midday collection of expected birds.

[cobirds] Gray crowned rosy finches, Weld County

2020-12-26 Thread Elena Holly Klaver
While doing a northern section of the Nunn CBC today, I found a flock of about
50-60 gray crowned rosy finches. They were flying back and forth between two
farm houses at the intersection of County Road 37 and County Road 128, north of
the border of the Pawnee National Grasslands. Because there was no internet
signal, I wasn’t keeping a contemporaneous eBird list, and didn’t realize that
they came up as rare until I got home. I have photos taken from my phone that
I uploaded to the eBird list. It wasn’t a particularly birdy count area,
although it was beautiful weather, not much wind, so it was nice to find the
finches. I always wondered where to best see them in the winter. They were
actively feeding on seeds from sunflowers and other plants- it seemed grasses-
growing around the farmhouses. I had never seen rosy finches on the plains
before, so it’s interesting. It will be interesting to see how long they stay
around, or how soon they will be moving on to other food sources.

[cobirds] (Presumed) yellow bellied sapsucker still in Niwot

2020-12-06 Thread elena
S/he has been showing up, including for a good part of the afternoon, where
about six birders were able to see him or her this afternoon. The property is
called Willowdale, from the original Niwot schoolhouse, (if anyone needs a name
for the eBird list) or is 7712 and 7710 Niwot Road, as the house is actually
two residences- that’s why we request folks park on the west side. Birders are
welcome to come, and people can also bird the feeders and birdbath. Please
either park in the driveway west of Franklin, not east, and please don’t block
the back house’s driveway. There is also parking on Franklin Street. The
sapsucker has wells in a pine tree, some cottonwood trees, and even some willow
trees all by the chicken coop.

[cobirds] Eastern bluebirds in Niwot

2020-11-16 Thread elena
Yesterday late afternoon I went out on the Niwot Loop trail south of Monarch
Road into the open space. There was a small flock of about 6-8 eastern
bluebirds in the trees along the creek. I asked them nicely if they would
consider sticking around a month until the Longmont CBC, as that is an area I
usually count. We’ll see! They seemed to be feeding on something in the trees;
there were also some robins in the same trees.

Re: [cobirds] Sedge Wren

2020-10-19 Thread elena
Thank you, Lauren; it probably bears repeating regularly, since one, people
don’t “get” it the first time, and two, new people are (hopefully, it’s a good
thing) regularly joining the birding world, that our ethics as birders require
us to put the birds’ safety and health first. NO exceptions. Someone can state
it better than I can, but please, do not EVER disturb birds, especially
migrants, especially rare ones who are out of their usual habitat and likely
struggling to survive.

[cobirds] Mountain chickadees early in Niwot

2020-10-07 Thread elena
This morning I heard, then found, two mountain chickadees in Niwot around my
feeders. This is the earliest I have ever had them, as they usually aren’t here
until the dead of winter. It might be part of the phenomenon of montane birds
moving around because of fires. No juncos yet, though.

Also, in addition to the great dawn blackbird liftoff at Jim Hamm on County
Line Road East of Longmont, there is another one, mostly of common grackles
with smaller numbers of starlings and redwing blackbirds, bear the Boulder
Valley Farm, Boulder Creek on 95th Street between Lookout and Valmont East of
Boulder. Multiple thousands of grackles make a great show right before dawn. If
you go, then stop by Lookout Road between 95th and 75th to see both golden and
bald eagles, who frequent the prairie dog towns there.

2020-09-26 Thread elena
A friend, who is not a birder and not making eBird or cobirds reports, showed

(Dakota Ridge neighborhood, near the intersection of Broadway and Highway 36).
I haven’t seen many there in that area so wanted to report them.

Well, on the subject of puzzle questions and other not-quite-cobirds topics, I
was part of an educational webinar on heavy equipment and machinery for
interpreters, and there was a picture of a big truck with a crane, and a
picture of a great blue heron. As in English, the words in Spanish for a metal
crane and the bird are the same, but I had to let the webinar teacher know that
he wasn’t showing a picture of a crane, not Antigone canadensis. He said he
searched for images of cranes, and that was what he found 

[cobirds] Wilson’s warbler migrating through Niwot

2020-08-30 Thread elena
Yesterday afternoon a male Wilson’s warbler was bathing in my water feature

This is central Niwot.

This is a little overdue, but Pat Wednesday at Roosevelt Park in Longmont
(Longs Peak Avenue and Bross) there were up to 20 common nighthawks flying

to see tomorrow how many there are. They were apparently feeding but mostly
silent, only a few “peents”. Most of the activity was between 6-8 pm.

Re: [cobirds] Ovenbirds in Boulder County

If Ovenbirds in Boulder County interest you, I had at least one singing on the
Fowler Trail by Eldorado Canyon, in the moist and dense area along the creek
between the bridge past the canal from the Springbrook Trail and where the
trail cuts over into Eldorado Canyon. The habitat is similar to that at the
top of the Skunk Canyon trail a little to the north, where I missed them last
Saturday, but where they are regularly seen and heard.

2020-05-23 Thread elena
Is that true even if we have bought a fishing license and the other pass (as
well as the state parks pass)? I just spent like $80 for a fishing license I
won’t use in order to contribute to the state and be able to bird places. If we
are paying, it seems like we should be able to get in (although it’s sketchy
being in places where people are shooting...) without starting an flood of
emails, is there a way to clarify this or figure out how to approach the state
to get some access for birders?

Also the blackpoll warbler continues along the creek east of the same bridge.

There was a green heron on one of the ponds in the northwestern part of Sawhill

this was late afternoon yesterday, and since I didn’t see him post it, I
thought I would. This is west of where one has often been found in the past.

[cobirds] More white faced ibis and Bonaparte’s gulls at Lagerman

2020-04-23 Thread elena
Lagerman Reservoir in Boulder county continues to delight. This morning there
were more white faced ibis hunkered down in high winds (which give the water an
interesting light turquoise green color) and there is a large flock of
Bonaparte’s gulls. Also FOS for this place tree swallows and continuing
turnover of ducks, with greatly reduced ruddy ducks, who had been busting the
eBird filters for awhile with their numbers.

[cobirds] Snipe at Walden ponds, Boulder

2020-04-13 Thread Elena Holly Klaver
On a brief walk around Walden Ponds in Boulder, there were very few ducks out,
but four vocal Wilson’s Snipe flew out from Duck Pond and landed on the trail
along the boundary with Sawhill/Walden, where they were joined by robins and
killdeer, foraging on the trail for something I couldn’t see in the puddles.
They were quite cooperative, only flying off when the only other person there,
a jogger, came down the trail. The four flew off, then returned, and then flew
off again making this nasal squeaky-toy sound that I haven’t heard much. The
four stayed together while flying back and forth between the trail and Duck
Pond. There were also two female Mountain bluebirds, I didn’t see any males,
and a number of robins expertly pulling long worms out of the ground, always a
neat sight (except for the worms...). a white crowned sparrow was silent, but
the goldfinches were singing in the cold.

[cobirds] Pipits and a yellow shafted flicker, Boulder County

2019-10-29 Thread Elena Holly Klaver
On a walk to Boulder Creek on the White Rocks trail, there were two flickers
just south of the creek, one with clear yellow under its wings and tail. The
other had red; neither had malar stripes nor color at the nape of the neck,
leading me to think they were female, but I am not sure. The five American
pipits were along Boulder Creek by the bridge on the trail, feeding along the
creek and in some plants on the bank. Two adult bald eagles, the resident
pair, were along the creek, and on Teller Lake there was a good variety of
ducks. There were more ducks, including some canvasbacks, bufflehead, and
pintail, on Lagerman Reservoir earlier today.

Re: [cobirds] Re: Western Tanager invasion, Boulder

2019-05-19 Thread Elena Holly Klaver
I have several western tanagers in my yard in Niwot for the first time that I
can remember. There are males and females, both, calling (not singing), and
they prefer the suet. What a treat. Nothing says “neotropical migrant” better
than a western tanager!

[cobirds] trouble with signing up for CBCs

doesn’t seem to be a way to get to a sign up page as in the past. Any

Re: [cobirds] Pink-footed Goose, Weld County

2018-12-13 Thread elena
Thanks to Michael for finding the Pink-footed Goose at this lovely reservoir,
and thanks to the birders who kept eyes on him/her. What a treat! The goose
took off close to sunset with thousands of white cheeked (looked like mostly
Cackling) geese who flushed when a juvenile bald eagle flew over, but it looked
like the flock might settle back on the reservoir. That reservoir is a
treasure.

[cobirds] Northern Three Toed Woodpecker on best, Boulder County

2018-06-28 Thread Elena Holly Klaver
Cobirders, while participating in the Indian Peaks breeding bird survey at
Rainbow Lakes, Topi Martínez and I had a Northern Three Toed Woodpecker at a
nest. It seemed as if the woodpecker (a male) was working on the cavity, as we
didn’t see a female or hear young in the tree, and the wood shavings at the
base of the tree looked very fresh. We didn’t have any surprises on the count,
as it was fairly windy most of the morning.

[cobirds] Veery, Boulder County, Twin Lakes

2018-05-29 Thread elena
Cobirders, I am sorry I forgot to put that Twin Lakes is in Boulder County. It
sounds like someone refound the bird this evening. I uploaded audio (it was
faint, on an iPhone) to my eBird list. If the bird was refound at 7:40 pm,
hopefully s/he might stick around until morning. Good luck! The bird was
singing continually, although it was across a ditch in a yard and I never saw
him or her.

[cobirds] Boulder Creek snipes, etc

2017-12-10 Thread Elena Holly Klaver
Topiltzin Martinez and I did a midday recon of our Boulder CBC route along
Boulder Creek from 30th to 55th Streets. No one out of the ordinary, but it
was nice to see two Wilson’s snipes quite close up in the wetlands along the
path just west of 55th and north of the path. There were also two green winged
teal in the water a little west of the snipe, along with a good number of
assorted expected waterfowl in the ponds south of the creek and west of
Foothills Parkway. A raft of northern shovelers was spiraling in a tight
circle as they fed, while a few ring necked ducks stayed on the outside of the
rotating raft, presumably picking up leftovers. Being midday, it was a bit
slower than usual, but we still managed to get 30 species, including a
Townsend’s solitaire just east of 30th street and a juvenile dipper (yellow
bill, pale front) in the creek west of 55th. We asked the snipe to please
stick around until next week, and we hope they will be compliant!

[cobirds] looking for a pair of used binoculars for an indigenous Costa Rican bird/culture guide

2017-03-11 Thread elena
Dear Cobirders, This is a not a bird sighting, nor is it about a request for
money.

My friend Paula Palmer lived in Costa Rica for a number of years, and goes
every year. She lived and worked in an indigenous Bribri community. She
wrote: My Bribri friend Mauricio Salazar in Costa Rica asked me whether I might
be able to bring him a pair of used binoculars for bird watching. Mauricio is
the best Bribri culture/nature guide in the Talamanca region, but he has been
very ill for the last 6 or 7 years with cancer. He continues to do rounds of
chemo, off and on. He told me he would just like to have a pair of binoculars
to use for his own pleasure now that he is mostly confined to home. Just
wondering if you know anyone who might have an extra pair they are ready to
part with? I leave for Costa Rica on March 27. Thanks, Elena, -Paula

Please contact her directly: paularpal...@gmail.com
<mailto:paularpal...@gmail.com>

Thank you in advance for any help. The ABA program that sends binoculars and
scopes to Latin America is in a transition period and likely cannot help.
