Re: [CGUYS] Intel Core Duo Conroe 6550
Essentially it the ability to put two cores (CPU's) onto one CPU. This gives it the ability to split tasks if needed (two separate functioning processes) It is not as good as two computers for one price, but it does allow you to have to separate processes running at the same time and not bog down the CPU. what does "dual core" mean? Jeff Wright wrote: What are the list folks experience with dell outlet? I've bought many a system from there. Both servers and laptops; only one problem and the warranty took care of that PDQ. I recommend it to anyone. What do folks think of the above processor ?(what os are you using?) The Core 2 Duos are very nice CPUs. Even though I prefer AMD chips, these outperform the AMDs. For some odd reason i want to know if the cores show up as seperate cpu's in taskmanager (i assume vista has a taskmanager) All the dual-core chips I've used have. * ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** * * ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *

[CGUYS] Intel Core Duo Conroe 6550
Thinking on buying a refirb or scratch and dent dell with the subject line processer.. What are the list folks experience with dell outlet? What do folks think of the above processor ?(what os are you using?) For some odd reason i want to know if the cores show up as seperate cpu's in taskmanager (i assume vista has a taskmanager) Given a choice, ATI or Nvidia, the only real gaming i do is civ3, one assumes my next addition will be civ4, if i buy a new pc, other than that mostly general productivity. Any issues with vista and samba? No, I am not buying a mac, for reasons i wont go in here, but if you donate one to me, i will gladly take it. I would provide a link to a typical system, but the scratch and dents disappear fast. Thanks, Arthur * ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *
