Re: [CGUYS] MacBook Pro not remembering settings
Tom- Thanks for the advice. This is an Intel Mac, so I followed the instructions from the PMU reset Knowledge Base article and unfortunately it didn't make a difference. It's not a big deal unless this is indicative of a deeper problem. -Mike Moser On Aug 6, 2007, at 12:18 PM, COMPUTERGUYS-L automatic digest system wrote: From: Tom Piwowar [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: August 6, 2007 9:21:04 AM EDT Subject: Re: MacBook Pro not remembering settings 1st try resetting power management. Method varies greatly between models so you have to look it up. Search on MacBook Pro abd SMU or PMU. I've found that my MacBook Pro is forgetting where on the desktop I left my main hard disk and which wireless network I was connected to. Time and date remain accurate, but I guess it's possible that the computer is getting that when I connect to the internet. It's a little over a year old. Is there a battery or a cap that remembers settings? Re: [CGUYS] MacBook Pro not remembering settings
I established another account and it exhibited the same behavior. I think this is a hardware issue or something to do with the root OS. What d'you think? BTW the battery was just replaced, because the previous one was dying without much load with no warning. The new battery is otherwise working very well. This behavior started with the old battery and continues. I thought it was an issue caused by the old battery, but with all the resets, etc. I think anything residual from the old battery should have been removed. -M On Aug 7, 2007, at 12:00 AM, COMPUTERGUYS-L automatic digest system wrote: From: Tom Piwowar [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: August 6, 2007 8:53:32 PM EDT Subject: Re: MacBook Pro not remembering settings Have you tried doing same from a different user account? * == QUICK LIST-COMMAND REFERENCE - Put the following commands in == * == the body of an email send 'em to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] == * Join the list: SUBSCRIBE COMPUTERGUYS-L Your Name * Too much mail? Been there, done both...trashed finder plist from my user/library/ prefs folder. Maybe there's something in the root prefs file that needs to be trashed?? Have you tried doing same from a different user account? * == QUICK LIST-COMMAND REFERENCE - Put the following commands in == * == the body of an email send 'em to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] == * Join the list: SUBSCRIBE COMPUTERGUYS-L Your Name * Too much mail?
