Re: [css-d] nav wraps in native IE9

2012-04-23 Thread Angela French
It happens in all browsers on my MacBook. I do suggest not making the font-
size any smaller though - it's already hard to read on a small laptop screen.

Perhaps you could take out the ctcLink item that seems to appear another
two times on that page - and is not on the inner pages AFAICT.

David - can you tell me what the difference is with Macs that would do that? I
don't have any macs to test on.
Regarding the ctcLink in the left hand menu and the same in the top na v- this
menu system is pulled from a single .xml file. The dropdown from the top nav
menu (the blue bar) is exactly the same as what it appears in the local nav
menu on the left (the green bar). I can't change that, so ctcLink appears
twice. I'm sorry, but what is AFAICT?

I suggest you make sure the navbar - with drop-downs - looks and behaves
OK whether it is on one or two lines.

Navbars like yours will nearly always spread onto more lines in all my
browsers because of my preferences for all text at easy readable
sizes, and that a navbar drops a few items to next line is OK as long
as navigation can still be understood and used.

It's wrapping in Chrome on Mac as well. A quick look makes me think it's a

With live text, you need some wiggle room...

I have done more research and it appears IE9 renders fonts/letter-spacing in
a new and improved way and so other than accommodate it - reducing padding,
increase width of page, IE9 conditional style sheet, it seems there is
nothing to be done about it.  I hope to hear a few more from this list chime
in though.  Did anyone else experience font rendering issues with IE9?

Yes, it does do it in IE9, as well as my Mac Chrome (dev v20.x)
