THE author of the notorious anti-Semitic forgery, Protocols of the
Elders of Zion, has been identified as a Russian propagandist who served
both the Tsar and the Bolsheviks.

The Protocols have proved an inspiration for generations of anti-Semites
all over the world, despite having proved to be fake within a few
decades of their appearance at the beginning of the century. They
purport to reveal a secret Jewish-Masonic conspiracy to overthrow
monarchy and Christian civilisation through the manipulation of wars,
revolutions and capitalism, paving the way for world Jewish domination.

Research by a leading Russian historian, Mikhail Lepekhine, in recently
opened archives has found the forgery to be the work of Mathieu
Golovinski, opportunistic scion of an aristocratic but rebellious family
who drifted into a life of espionage and propaganda work. After working
for the Tsarist secret service he later changed sides and joined the
Bolsheviks.

Mr Lepekhine's findings, published yesterday in the French magazine
L'Express, would appear to clear up the last remaining mystery
surrounding the Protocols. Though banned in Europe, copies are still to
be found in Middle Eastern bookshops.

Golovinski was born in 1865 in Ivachevka in the Simbirsk region. His
father, a friend of Dostoyevsky who was condemned to death for his part
in a plot then pardoned, died when he was 10 leaving him to be brought
up by his mother and a French governess. His subsequent career evokes
the world of assassination and intrigue described in Joseph Conrad's
Under Western Eyes, as revolutionaries and reactionaries struggled for
the soul of Russia.

He briefly studied law before drifting into the Holy Brotherhood, an
anti-Semitic secret society which used forgery as a tool against the
revolutionaries, publishing phoney newspapers and tracts. His contacts
there found him a job in the government press department where he acted
as a Tsarist spin doctor, placing articles in compliant newspapers and
paying the salaries of certain journalists.

When his chief protector died and he was publicly denounced by Maxim
Gorky as an informer he was forced to look for work abroad and chose
Paris. There he made contact with the head of the Russian secret police,
Pierre Ratchkovski, who put him to work writing pro-Russian stories to
be planted in the French press.

Later he was charged with a more important mission. Reactionary circles
in Moscow, dismayed at the progress being made by modernisers in the
court of Nicolas II, hit on the idea of a forgery that would demonstrate
to the tsar that the rising tide of capitalism in Russia was really a
Jewish conspiracy aimed at overthrowing him and the old order.

At the end of 1900 or the beginning of 1901 Golovinski was set to work.
He leant heavily on a pamphlet written in 1864 by an anti-Bonapartist
lawyer who claimed Napoleon III was engaged in a plot to usurp all the
powers of the French people.

GYPSY MOUNTAIN, since September 8, 1998

The defense of this mountain began with a sit in a tree named Aradia; it
ended with another treesit in a grove of redwoods above a murder
investigation. The death of David "Gypsy" Chain occurred when an outraged
logger cut a tree in the direction of activists in the forest. Since then,
many injuries among the treesitters have caused activists to take down most
of Gypsy Mountain's treesits. The high canopy is no longer occupied. This
fall, Maxxam/PL completed unit #2's clearcut. All previously occupied trees
have survived this recent harvest!

FRESHWATER TREESIT, since October 16, 1998

Nate just celebrated his one-year anniversary of his road-side sit in an
old-growth redwood tree named Mariah. Nate occasionally comes down from his
sit when replacement sitters are available. Mariah and Nate also
periodically get shot at by disgruntled loggers who have clear-cut their
way out of their own jobs.

ARCATA COMMUNITY FOREST, since October 15, 1999

Oregon treesitters from Red Cloud Thunder traveled to California to set up
a tree village to stop logging in the community forest of the "greenest"
city in America. The result is that folks of Arcata have begun to wake up
to the threat and they are rallying to stop the cut. After a recent brush
clearing crew was prevented from working, a dozen law enforcement and
security personnel returned on October 25 to ensure that the public did not
interfere with the brush clearing. Regardless of this show of force,
planned fall cutting of the city of Arcata's Redwood Park has been put on

PEPPER SPRAY CASE APPEAL UPDATE

Earth First! activists who were pepper-sprayed two years ago while
protesting Pacific Lumber logging filed an appeal last month of the federal
civil rights case they lost, which aimed to end the use of chemical agents
on nonviolent demonstrators.
A videotape showing sheriff's deputies yanking back the heads and
swabbing pepperspray around the eyes of four activists holding a sit-in at
the office of then-Congressman Frank Riggs, outraged citizens around the
country and elicited global condemnation.
But in October 1998, after the civil rights trial ended in a hung jury,
Judge Vaughn Walker declared the case had no merit and that law
enforecement had acted appropriately and used reasonable force.
The Activists and the America Civil Liberties Union are seeking a
reversal of the judge's decision to grant qualified immunity to individual
police officers and to not schedule another jury trial. A hearing is not
likely until next spring.

 FASCISM AND ITS FOUNDER

 Fascism is a twentieth century political idea, forged from
its nineteenth century Syndicalist and Social Darwinist roots in
the fires of opportunism following the end of World War I.  It
has its own appeal as a popular mass government system, drawing
upon the elements of the irrational and the emotional to stir the
majority of a country's population into supporting the fascist
party in power.
 The founder of fascism was Il Duce (The Leader) Benito
Mussolini.  He "was born in Dovia di Predappio [near Forli, in
Romagna](1), Italy, on July 29, 1883. He was named Benito for the
Mexican revolutionary Juarez.(2)  As a teenager, Mussolini
entered into politics as a socialist.  His father, Alessandro
Mussolini, was a blacksmith and a fervent socialist.  His mother,
Rosa, was a schoolteacher; and at age eighteen (1901), Benito
Mussolini became eligible to be an elementary schoolmaster.  The
next year, he moved to Switzerland looking for work.  Mussolini
was expelled from Switzerland when he could not find a permanent
job, and returned to perform his military service in the Italian
army.(3)
 In 1908 Mussolini joined the staff of a newspaper in Trent
(in the Austrian held Italian province of Tyrol) and wrote a
novel, later translated into English as "The Cardinal's
Mistress."  He was expelled by the Austrian authorities, so he
continued his newspaper career with the socialist newspaper, La
Lotta di Classe (The Class Struggle) in Forli. Although his
socialist ideas were being modified by the philosophy of
Friedrich Nietzsche, the revolutionary doctrines of Auguste
Blanqui, and the syndicalism of Georges Sorel, the young man
still became the Socialist party secretary in Forli.(4)
 Opposite his later record as a warmonger, in Italy's 1911
war against Turkey, Mussolini was jailed for his pacifist
newspaper work.  He moved to Milan after he became the editor of
"Avanti," the official paper of the socialists.  From this
position, Mussolini rapidly became one of the most important
leaders among labor, advocating that "the proletariat should
unite in one formidable fascio (bundle), preparatory to seizing
power."(5)
 Mussolini experienced a sudden change of heart in the early
days of World War I, first opposing the war and threatening to
lead a proletarian revolution against both the war and the
Italian government, then later changing his stance about
fighting. He gave up his membership in the Socialist party and
abandoned his editorship of the "Avanti" newspaper.(6)

Fascism is Born

 The birth of fascism is a dramatic example of the one true
guiding principle of fascism: seize the moment, take a chance on
the opportunity at hand, and if the opportunity needs a bit of
encouragement, then give violence a chance.  Having suddenly
switched his position on Italy's entry into the war, Mussolini
founded a pro-war group, the Fasci d'Azione Rivoluzionaria, and a
new newspaper, "Il Popolo d'Italia."  "He evidently hoped the war
might lead to a collapse of society that would bring him to

A friend of mine, now deceased was/had been a deep cover/covert op. A few
years before he died unexpectedly in a hotel (he was in excellent health) we
had been having an interesting discussion about necessary gov't secrets.  I
had asked him what was the deepest secret he knew.  He said I probably
wouldn't believe him if he told me anyway because it was "so far out" that
even he had trouble believing it.
I told him I was really curious and wanted to hear his opinion on what was
the end limit of the "deep black".

Here's what he answered.  He told me that although the pluralistic grouping
of international merchant banking/industrial families had great power above
and beyond any single nation and had a plan to globalize and do it their way
(unknown to the masses), and although the "sources and methods" of the US
intelligence agencies and the alphabet "errand boy" agencies would shock the
public beyond belief if they knew (i.e. the chomsky type stuffgov't drug
importing and its drug war response, phoney media generated political
controversies, agent provocateurs in the kkk, sds, cut and divide stuff,
etc. etc.), he felt the deepest, most important secret and one that scared
him the most for his family and children was the "continuation of gov't"
stuff referred to as COG.

Here's what he told me about GOG that scared him.  He said that after wwii,
our military was extremely paranoid about the possibility of a nuclear
exchange with russia or even china, and was obsessed with creating a means
for COG.  He said a number of underground COG bases were built (eg. mount
weather was one but was to be the disposable "decoy" if a major nuclear
exchange occured).  He mentioned the mile deep bunkers under the white
house, the sidona, dulce, and mountain bases at colorado springs, and their
mile deep one-way elevator drop "suicide" control rooms, etc., etc.  He
thought all this was good and necessary protection for us.

What really concerned him was what he described as the supersecret TOG
program which was almost completely unknown by anyone, even those with very
high level Q, umbra, above top secret or sci clearances (he said many with
those clearances knew about COG, but only a very select number knew about
TOG, which referred to the "transfer of gov't" program.  He said that the
name "transfer of gov't" program (TOG) was really a cover for what was a
"termination of gov't" program, that is, he stated that TOG really stood for
"termination of gov't" instead of "transfer of gov't".

Those with high level classifications who worked on the lower level aspects
of the project were told that the purpose and function of TOG was to shred
documents, and protect secrets at the white house, its bunkers, and the
various complexes like langely, nsa, oni, etc.,etc. while the actual new
gov't would be transferred to two certain select locations in parallel to
insure at least one would survive.
What was not to be revealed except to a select few was that this program
involved placing small scale nuclear weapons (two to a location, one main
one and a second backup at each important gov't agency location), to be
detonated in time of nuclear attack, enemy invasion, collapse of the economy
or gov't due to war or natural disaster or any complete, near complete, or
expected loss of control of those areas deemed completely irredeemable and
without hope.  What concerned my friend was that he felt very certain that
the control of these TOG (termination of gov't) weapons had been seriously
comprimised and was under the control of certain select grouping of "foreign
entities" who served a select group of  hidden "international corporate and
financial masters" in everyday functions and were  were going to attempt to
pull off the world's biggest covert op when the time was right.  He said
they would set off the TOGs at will and when they felt the time was right in
order to wrest control from this pluralistic grouping of international
families (i.e.the order).   He said all such weapons were numbered TOG1,
TOG2, TOG3, TOG4, etc.,etc.  He said that all the cutout/shills in each
gov't would be taken out along with masses along with all the highest level
"families" of  "the order" (the overlords) who were not in this select and
very small special group(underlords).

I asked him to describe what two groups was he referring to here (overlords
and underlords) and he told me that there was a pluralistic international
grouping of merchant banking and industrial families centered in the "city"
(financial district of london), and in the german, swiss, french and
american financial and corporate centers. He said this group was referred to
in hushed tones as the "the order" or the "committee" and they were the

In Toxic Psychiatry, Dr. Breggin discusses the subject of drug combinations:
"Combing antidepressants (e.g., Prozac, Luvox) and psychostimulants (e.g.,
Ritalin) increases the risk of cardiovascular catastrophe, seizures,
sedation,
euphoria and psychosis.  Withdrawal from the combination can cause a
severe reaction that includes confusion, emotional instability, agitation

aggression."  Children are frequently medicated with this combination, and
when we highlight such effects as aggression, psychosis and emotional
instability, it is obvious that the result is pointing toward the very real

Ritalin, a brand name for the drug methylphenidate, is given to perhaps two
million American schoolchildren for a condition called Attention Deficit
(Hyperactivity) Disorder (ADD or ADHD).  ADD and ADHD, for which no
organic causes have ever been found, are touted as disease-conditions
that predominantly afflict the young, causing hyperactivity,
unmanageability,
and learning problems.  Of course, when you name a disorder or a syndrome
and yet can find no provable cause for it, you have nothing more than a
loose
collection of behaviors with an arbitrary title.

You also have a pharmaceutical bonanza.

The original patent holder and principal manufacturer of Ritalin was
Ciba-Geigy,
whose headquarters are in Switzerland.  Ciba-Geigy is now known as Novartis,
having merged with pharmaceutical giant Sandoz.

reveals a strange fact.  It states that Ritalin is "structurally related to
amphetamines.
Its pharmacological properties are essentially the same as those of
amphetamines."
In other words, the only clear difference is legality.  And the effects, in
layman's
terms, are obvious.  You take speed and after awhile, sooner or later, you
start
crashing.  You become agitated, irritable, paranoid, delusional, aggressive.

A firm and objective medical review needs to be done in all of the school
shootings,
to determine how many of the shooters were on, or had at one time been on
Ritalin.

Ritalin is classified by the DEA as a Schedule II drug due to its high
potential
for abuse and psychic dependence.  Ritalin is speed dressed up as medicine.
Users frequently go on to other drugs to even themselves out.

The Brookhaven National Laboratory has studied Ritalin through PET scans.
Lab research has found that the drug decreased the flow of blood to all
parts
of the brain by 20-30%.  That is a danger signal.  But parent, teachers,
counselors, principals and school psychologists know nothing about this.
Cocaine produces the same blood-flow restriction effect.  According to Peter
Breggin in Talking Back to Ritalin,  "Stimulants such as Ritalin and
amphetamine
have grossly harmful impacts on the brain-reducing overall blood flow,
disturbing
glucose metabolism, and possibly causing permanent shrinkage or atrophy of
the
brain."

Latin Leaders Call Drug War a Failure

This Wednesday (11/3), an open letter to the drug czars of the Western
Hemispheres was released, calling on policy makers to "admit that after two
decades the U.S. war on drugs -- both in Latin America and in the United
States -- is a failure." The letter, which was signed by former presidents
of Colombia, Costa Rica and Nicaragua, a former dean of the Harvard School
of Public Health and Harry Belafonte, among others, was presented at a well
attended press conference in Washington, DC this morning, aired on C-Span
and covered by the Associated Press as well as numerous Latin American
media.

The letter, and drug czars summit to which it was addressed, come at a time
when U.S. drug czar Barry McCaffrey is lobbying a hawkish Congress to pour
more billions of dollars in the Andean drug war quagmire, including major
new funding to the Colombian military, an institution which has been tied to
massacres and other human rights abuses and which is embroiled in a
protracted, unpopular civil war.

The press conference was organized by the Criminal Justice Policy
Foundation, with organizations including the Washington Office on Latin
America and Institute for Policy Studies.

Robert White, former ambassador to El Salvador and Paraguay and President of
the Center for International Policy, responded to drug czar McCaffrey and
Congress' casting of the Colombia issue in terms of "narcoguerrillas,"
saying, "The idea that you can target one group of people, in this case the
guerrillas, and say that they are responsible, is naive and self-serving."

Michael Gelacek, former vice-chairman of the United States Sentencing
Commission, offered words of caution for the drug policy officials gathered
in Washington: "If you say we're winning the war on drugs, you're doing
yourself and your citizens a tremendous disservice. We lost the war on drugs
a long time ago," adding, "You're going to have to deal with the
consequences of our policies, if you adopt them."

Rev. Bernard Keels, of the United Methodist Church in Baltimore, said, "The
crisis of drug abuse needs real material solutions in America's cities...
and a spiritual confrontation that does not attempt to blame others -- such
as peasants in South America -- for our failings as individuals and as a
society."

The final speakers may have been the most dramatic. Leonilda Vurita Vargas
and Margarita Terun Gonzales, representatives of the coca growers union in
the Chapare region of Bolivia, described the tragic consequences of drug war
militarization and eradication programs on their community. Since April,
said Vargas, 13 of them have been killed, including one small child who died
from inhaling gases. The forces that are supposed to only eradicate coca
have burned down 15 of their houses, as well as 8 hectares of pineapple, one
of the alternative crops to coca. Vargas explained that while Bolivian
officials come to the United States and claim to be making crop substitution
work, it hasn't worked because they have no markets for the alternative
crops.

Speaking at the drug czars summit, Pino Arlacchi, Director of the United
Nations Drug Control Program, predicted drug production in Latin America
will end in five years -- despite an increase Caribbean drug trafficking in
the Caribbean and an estimated 15% increase in cocaine production in

Arlacchi's chosen them at last year's UN Drug Summit was similarly utopian:
"Drug Free in Ten -- We Can Do It!"

In related news, Human Rights Watch reported on Wednesday that two soldiers
whom government investigators say murdered a Colombian senator in 1994
remain on the army payroll, despite overwhelming evidence against them.

A Message to the Hemisphere's Drug Policy Makers:
As you meet to develop a hemispheric drug strategy, it is time to admit that
after two decades the U.S. war on drugs -- both in Latin America and in the
United States -- is a failure. Despite a 17-fold increase in U.S. drug war
spending since 1980, record seizures, arrests, and incarcerations at home,
and destruction abroad of hundreds of drug labs and coca and poppy crops,
today in the U.S., illicit drugs are cheaper, more potent, and more easily
available than two decades ago.

Under the banner of fighting drugs, U.S. military aid to Colombia has
skyrocketed: today Colombia is by far the largest recipient of U.S. military
aid in the hemisphere -- and the third largest in the world after Israel and
Egypt. Yet, over the last decade, total drug production in Colombia has
risen 260 percent. The escalation of a militarized drug war in Colombia and
elsewhere in the Americas threatens regional stability, undermines efforts

First a "Current Affairs" brief:
There are currently I believe EIGHT states which have legally mandated
efforts to make cultivation of Hemp easy for their agricultural industry.
(Seven have passed "medical marijuana" decriminalization ... the FEDS are
threatening everyone in sight.)
The fine point of the current law shows that hemp is NOT even illegal now as
an industrial crop, but illegal "enforcement" of marijuana law against hemp
growers could be expected until the FEDS have their heads handed to them by
the citizens and the States.

I've been studying this whole area VERY in-depth for a very long time.
Started out with 20 years of field testing various intoxicants.
Nine years ago, it became obvious that intoxicants were no longer beneficial
to me personally, (actually it was probably obvious a few years before that
time... )
So, nine years ago I started the process of recovery from alcohol and drug
addiction.
About 4 years ago I started serious in-depth research into "everything else
the government is lying about."

The most terrible thing that the government is lying about NOW (with narrow
focus on illicit drugs) is that there is any intent within the "War on
Drugs" to do other than make money.

Government covert operations have been, since at least the Vietnam war,
DIRECTLY INVOLVED in importing Heroin and Cocaine - most of what enters the
country, to be exact, estimated "covert ops" profit taking: $200billion.

So, the "War on Drugs" is:
1. a war on the competition; any smugglers who are not CIA or "connected".
2. an ethnic/class warfare on two fronts; poison them and their communities;
imprison/enslave them (prisoners perform nearly free labor)
3. the "motor" behind the shiny new Prison/Industrial complex. Prisons are a
HUGE growth industry, (total $size approaches the Pentagon budget) many are
said to be "privatized," while in truth owned by CIA assets such as
Wackenhut, and others aligned with the CIA.
4. opportunity for vast funding (over $1.5billion/year) via "asset
forfeiture" (stealing people's stuff without due process of law)

In addition to these direct effects, a collateral effect that fits right in
with the NWOdor globalist agenda is the militarization of police- we no
longer have "creeping facism" we now have "leaping facism" thanks to the
C.reeps I.n A.ction - and an imposition of FEAR and subservience to even so
heinous an act as the roasting-to-death of mothers and infants by U.S.
Federal MILITARY and paramilitary forces. (we can talk about the Oklahoma
bombing too, and civilian disarmament campaigns supported by "crazed
shooters" who just happen to have, in several cases ties to U.S. Federal
military/paramilitary orgs.)

Naturally there is also a big boost to the defense industries (obviously CIA
connected) anytime a war can be concocted.  Also "coincidental" that the
wars keep happening where there is major drug smuggling. Vietnam was more
about Laos than Vietnam. KLA in Kosovo are the biggest gang of Heroin
smugglers in the biggest drug smuggling port in that region.
Watch the propaganda organs (monopoly owned radio, TV, newspapers, magazines
... yup, you guessed it- "connected" in one way or another, owned or
controlled by CIA/CFR/TLC members) ... "the Company" are planning the next
Vietnam in Colombia, which currently is the third largest client of U.S.
Federal "military aid" program, in spite of which -actually- as you may
hopefully see by now- BECAUSE OF WHICH- Colombian drug production has risen
an estimated 260% in the last ten years; 15% increase in cocaine production
THIS year.
I believe that they will FAIL to get the Colombian Drug war much bigger than
it already is.
Three weeks ago, there was a nation-wide protest against the Drug War in
Colombia- at least 5.2 million people marched nationwide in this country of
40 million. Police said two million protested in the capital.

I admit this rambles a bit...

I have to agree I think hemp should be legalized again.  The current war
against it is the result of government hysteria and ignorance, aided by
anti-competition campaigns by lumber and chemical industries.  But, there's
not a hope of it becoming legal until it becomes economically viable - which
means, until the oil and forests have almost completely disappeared, and the
price of nylon or paper has gone through the roof.

This situation with hemp is proof positive of the necessity for truth and
moderation in dealing with problems.  Whether a government working on a
country-wide scale or in dealing with personal problems, overreaction will

THE CYBORG PROFESSOR

Professor Kevin Warwick of the University of Reading in the UK made
headlines last year when he took the drastic step of having a computer chip
implanted into his body. The chip was part of an experiment to see how such
'wetware' could interact with an 'intelligent building'.

The scene of the experiment was Professor Warwick's workplace: the
university's Department of Cybernetics. The building had been wired to
detect the presence of the implant; essentially just a tiny smartcard. When
Warwick arrived in the morning the doors would even open automatically for
him and call a cheerful greeting.

One ambition of such research is to design buildings able to locate a person
and then personalise the environment for that particular individual, for
instance to divert phone calls to the nearest extension or to adjust the
heating and lighting levels to a pre-determined preference or perhaps
display an appropriate screen at an information point. The lattice of nodes
could also be used to support navigation services in large buildings.

The chip was removed from Professor Warwick after a few days, purely for
medical safety reasons. He's already planning more experiments though, with
the ultimate goal of wiring implants directly into the human nervous system.

But is Professor Warwick's vision of the future a utopia or a nightmare?

Kevin Warwick: I think I'm really looking at it in terms of how machinery
can enhance or help what humans can do normally.

KW: Well I had a silicon chip transponder implanted in my left arm, just
above the elbow and lying against the muscle. It was in there for about 9
days.

B2K: Many would ask the question "Why?"

KW: I did it as part of a research programme...The main emphasis was looking
to the future and the possibility of connecting up to the human nervous
system and interacting with technology that way.

B2K: Were you scared?

KW: I've never had an implant of any kind before so it was scary at
first...but I wanted to do it. It was something I had to find out what it
was actually like.

B2K: What did it feel like while it was in your arm?

KW: The first couple of days it was a little bit uncomfortable, but after
that I didn't really notice it was there physically...but mentally it was
quite a surprise; that because the implant was interacting with the computer
in the building and for all intents and purposes the implant was part of me
after a couple of days, I accepted it. Mentally I had a link with the
computer, an affinity that I hadn't expected.

B2K: How did that affinity make you feel?

KW: Well it made me feel quite strong, quite powerful because I had this
computer that was doing all sorts of wonderful things...I just had to move
around near it. But also I realised the potential there, that when you link
humans and technology together the possibilities are enormous. Just by being
in the vicinity of a machine the interaction could give you tremendous
powers...super-human powers.

B2K: What did you learn from the trial?

KW: The experiment was a tremendous success. Technically it worked very
well; the implant was picked up by the building all the time and over a good
distance. The main thing I learnt though was in looking to the future. The
possibilities are tremendous and it really opened up my eyes to what might
be possible around the corner.

B2K: Where do you see this research leading us?

KW: When we look to connecting an implant such as I had up to the human
nervous system it opens up a whole different spectrum. Then we can look at
getting movements...with arm movements you're sending a signal from your
brain to your fingers and telling them to move. Those signals can be picked
up and transmitted to a computer to make the computer move. We can learn
essentially to interact with computers without the need for a keyboard or a
mouse. To interface with computers we won't need the old-fashioned,
mechanical arm movements or even voice input, it will be straight from the
nervous system and ultimately the brain, straight into the computer.

man who tracked down the Titanic and other undersea mysteries has found
evidence that the Black Sea was inundated in a giant flood about 7,000 years
ago - perhaps the biblical flood of Noah.

Explorer Robert Ballard reported this week that he was looking for ancient
shipwrecks off the north coast of Turkey last summer and decided to check
out the flood theory.

Columbia University researchers William Ryan and Walter Pittman have
speculated that when the European glaciers melted, the Mediterranean Sea
overflowed into what was then a smaller freshwater lake to create the
current Black Sea.

Many ancient Middle Eastern cultures have legends of a great flood,
including the Bible story of Noah.

Ballard used side-scan sonar, similar to that used to locate the undersea
wreck of John F. Kennedy Jr.'s plane, to study the floor of the Black Sea.

He found, well out to sea, an ancient coastline and a change from freshwater
to saltwater mollusks dating from about 7,000 years ago.

But considering the flow of water through the narrow channel now known as
the Bosporus, Ballard told the National Geographic Society: "The flood
wasn't over in 40 days. ... The whole event probably lasted about 40 years."

People living on flat areas near the lake would have faced a sea widening by
a mile a day. Along cliffs water rose about six inches a day, he said.

In the area studied by Ballard, along the southern coast of the Black Sea,
the waters would have risen gradually, he said, which preserved contours of
the original beach.

Ballard scooped up a bucket of shells from the ancient shoreline - now 550
feet below the sea's surface - and sent them to the Academy of Natural
Sciences in Philadelphia for analysis.

The shells included both extinct freshwater mollusks, presumably from before
the flood, and saltwater mollusks from the postflood era.

The shells were then radiocarbon-dated at the Woods Hole Oceanographic
Institution in Massachusetts. The most recent date for the freshwater shells
was about 7,460 years ago, while the oldest saltwater shells dated to 6,820
years ago. That indicates a change about 7,000 years in the past.

Ballard plans to return to the Black Sea next August to search for ancient
merchant vessels and more clues about the ancient flood.

"We'd like to find some evidence of human habitation: stone walls, pottery,
hearths," he told National Geographic, a sponsor of his work.

Among conspiracists, the words "United Nations" evoke a reaction reminiscent
of a red cape in front of an enraged bull.  For many, the very idea of a
worldwide government is a direct threat to our own sovereignty and freedom.
Never mind the good things that the U.N. has done: feed the hungry,  help
those stricken by catastrophic earthquakes and floods, educate children and
provide modern medical care in areas where most doctors carry totems and wear
masks. Never mind the huge peacekeeping function the United Nations performs
in strife-torn areas.  Someone has to pay for those.

For the most part it's been somewhat comical to read the rants of the
ill-informed and paranoid. But now we have a diplomatic freight train bearing
down on us that has nothing to do with "One World Government" and everything
to do with America's credibility and world image.  For the third straight
year, Rep. Christopher Smith (R-N.J) is pushing for a bill to prohibit
abortion-rights groups from lobbying foreign governments in return for the
release of close to one billion dollars in delinquent U.N. dues.  And this
time, his efforts are sticking.  If we do not pay at least 200-some millions
by December 31, we forfeit our seat in the U.N. General Assembly and take a
black eye on the world stage the likes of which we haven't had since Vietnam.

Why?

Rep. Smith, a staunch conservative, feels we should not spend one dime of
taxpayer money to support abortion lobbyists.  At first blush, that sounds
like a domestic issue that hardly belongs in this international debate.
While there may some room for admiration for his adherence to principle, I
have to ask:

Why?

Why is it so hard for the extremist (and make no mistake, Mr. Smith is that)
to understand that the world is not black and white?  Why does he feel that
it is moral to jeopardize not only the image and credibility of his own
nation but the less-controversial programs the United Nations sponsors which
have absolutely nothing to do with abortion and everything to do with
lessening the suffering on this big green globe?  Why can't he get it through
his head that "planned parenthood" also means contraception and education in
a world where we just hit Six Billion citizens and are on our way to a
mind-boggling Twelve Billions by 2100?

The rest of the world is laughing at us, right now.  If I weren't so incensed
I'd be joining in the mockery.  Abortion is one of those debates which
generates much more heat than light.  The words "rational" and "abortion"
will hardly ever be heard in the same sentence unless to point out their
antipathy.   Everyone has an opinion, they're all right and anyone who
disagrees with them is Satan Incarnate.  People have killed other people to
try to stop an abortion, thereby "saving lives"?  Can someone please
demonstrate the logic to me?

So Rep. Smith is splashing big news all over the press with his measure.  We
could write it off to political ambition, and perhaps there's some of that.
But personally I would put it under the category of short-sightedness,
isolationism and narrow-minded provincialism.  We cannot dictate the world's
morals.  The rest of the world is not trying to dictate ours.  If I limit my
tax payments each year to eliminate support for nuclear weapons or Bill
Clinton's vacations, the IRS would be pounding on my door and stealing my
car.  Yet Smith's stand puts us in the same boat in the United Nations.

This past week, we have seen outraged Pakistanis, Afghans, Chinese and Greeks
conducting vigorous anti-American demonstrations.  There have even been
terrorist attacks on our facilities in Islamabad. Our position as a "world
leader" is not a foregone conclusion, nor would we likely be happy with some
of the other alternatives if we withdraw and leave a void.  Smith's obstinate
morality is yet another stepping stone to America the Alone, and if he
succeeds we had better be ready to accept world events without any recourse
because we will have willingly and needlessly abandoned our seat at the front
of the room.

We will also have done a much wider and more harmful disservice to millions
of poor, starving, uneducated world citizens.   We will have abandoned our
obligations as human beings all for the sake of making a one-sided moral
statement.

  Sound legitimate?  That's what the victim thought, but when she
  awoke she found out that her car had been moved to another
  parking area and  she was missing all her money that was in her
  wallet (total of $800.00).  Pretty steep for a sniff of perfume!

  Anyway, the perfume wasn't perfume at all, it was some kind of
  ether or strong substance to cause anyone who breathes the fumes
  to black out. SO beware.

  Christmas time is coming and we will be going to malls shopping
  and we will have cash on us.  Ladies, please don't be so trusting

DISCUSSION
1. Dealing with activities admittedly within its regulatory power, the
Congress [legislature] established the Commission [agency] as its
instrumentality to provide continuous and expert supervision and to exercise
the administrative judgment essential in applying **legislative standards**
to a host of instances.  These standards the Congress [legislature]
prescribed.  The powers of the Commission [agency] were defined, and
definition is limitation.  All agencies are under strict definition of

which shows that word is to be given a special meaning, resort is to be had
to ordinary meaning of word.  26 U.S.C. Section 7701, Footnote 3.  And,
since the word voluntary does not appear specifically defined by statute,
you must resort to its ordinary meaning as found on page 1575 of the Sixth
Edition of Blacks Law Dictionary. Unconstrained by interference; unimpelled
by anothers influence; spontaneous; acting of oneself.  I do not now, nor
have I ever incurred, with full knowledge and consent, a tax liability by
voluntarily entered into the Internal Revenue system of voluntary
compliance; and

3. I do not earn an income (profits or gains derived from capital, labor
or both combined) as defined by the Corporate Excise Tax Act of
909.  income under the amendment was a gain, a profit, something of
exchangeable value proceeding from the property, severed from the capital
however invested or employed, and coming in, being derived, that is,
received or drawn by the recipient [the taxpayer] for his separate use,

Pretoria hit by scandal over embassy bugging

  THE South African government was embroiled in a spy scandal yesterday after
the German embassy and the opposition Democratic Party said they had
discovered their premises were being bugged.
Joe Nhlanhla, the Intelligence Minister, assured the Democratic Party that
the National Intelligence Agency had nothing to do with eavesdropping
detected by a private security firm hired by the party. He did not rule out
that the "dastardly acts" might have been the work of other security organs
or private agents and vowed that "the law will take its course" if any
government official were found to be responsible.

The accusations follow the discovery on Wednesday of a spy camera outside the
German embassy in Pretoria. Bomb disposal officers found the equipment in an
upturned dustbin after a security guard spotted wires leading from the bin to
a tree. The embassy declined to comment, but the government has expressed
concern at the incident and promised to investigate. Mr Nhlanhla acknowledged
that the Israeli embassy had previously complained of being bugged.

However, he betrayed little real alarm at the possible undermining of South
Africa's democracy but criticised the Democratic Party for making the affair
public through the media. "These allegations are being made without any shred
of evidence being forwarded to substantiate the involvement of South African
intelligence services," he said. "On the contrary, intelligence services are
treated as guilty until they are proven innocent."

The scandal will raise inevitable comparisons with the wholesale surveillance
of political opponents carried out by the former apartheid regime. It will
inevitably lead to renewed questions about intolerance in the ranks of the
ruling African National Congress. The Democratic Party has grown into the
largest opposition group but, with 10 per cent of the national vote, it is
hardly in a position to threaten the ANC's 66 per cent. But it has been the
object of fierce ANC accusations that it seeks to preserve white privilege.

The party claimed that several telephone lines in its parliamentary and
national offices in Cape Town had been tapped. It also found that the office
of its chief whip, Douglas Gibson, and its caucus office in parliament were
kept under surveillance with listening devices that monitor sound through
windows. The equipment was allegedly operated from a nearby building housing
government offices, including the offices of ministers.

"I do not go in for smear politics," said Mr Gibson. "But it is extremely
distasteful and extremely worrying that, in a democracy with an exemplary
liberal democratic constitution, the official opposition should be subjected
to this kind of thing." He said party members had periodically suggested
having the offices swept by security experts after confidential details of
conversations had been leaked. "We are inclined to be suspicious because we
know this is what happened under the old order, but at first I resisted all
that because I am not paranoid," said Mr Gibson. "There is an uncomfortable
parallel with the past. I really hope that it is wrong."

The party said it would lay criminal charges next week, which would be
investigated by the police. Patricia De Lille, of the radical opposition
Pan-Africanist Congress, said: "I have never lost my vigilance of the
struggle [against apartheid]. I have been behaving as if my office is bugged
all the time and I will obviously have to check it out." The tiny African
Christian Democratic Party said it would have its offices swept for bugging
devices "because it seems that government is very concerned about any real
opposition".

  Italian Fascism: An Interpretation

 When the Grand Council of Fascism on 25 July 1943 removed
Benito Mussolini from his position as head of government, fascism
ended in Italy.  Its ending was as surprising as its beginning,
back when, on 28 March 1922, some 300,000 Blackshirts under
Mussolini's command seized the Italian state.  The events between
those dates can be chronicled.  The explanation of what had
transpired is much more elusive.  Fascism was touted by Mussolini
as a unique combination of thought and action, yet fascism was
still seeking an ideology after the Second World War was over.
 The roots of fascism are many and complex.[1] The fascist
leadership, notably Mussolini, admitted the multi-faceted
influences of liberalism, Marxism, syndicalism, Risorgimento,
socialism, Catholicism and nationalism on their ideology.[2]
Their speeches and writings were replete with quotations from
Schopenhauer, Hegel[3], Sorel, Saint-Simon, Pareto, Mosca,
Mazzini and a hundred other writers.  They admitted fascism was a
unique blending of all of these and much more, yet they were
never able to wholly explain it to their own satisfactions.
 Italian fascism was the first application of what would
become a generic ideology encompassing, or allegedly
encompassing, movements of the political right in every nation of
Western Europe, the United States, the British Commonwealth
nations and even Japan.[4] It was believed by Italian leaders to
be highly exportable, yet it carried strong Italian nationalistic
overtones.  It was essentially non-racist, yet in Italy it
preached the gospel of the coming Italian race of ["Supermen"].
 Italian fascism had at least four principal phases.  Until
1925, it was political action seeking an ideology.  Mussolini had
himself been variously a socialist, a pacifist, an
internationalist, a war hawk, an anarchist, a statist, and, most
of all, a pragmatist.[5] When he sought an ideology he found none
to satisfy him. When he came to power after the 1922 March on
Rome he found himself in charge of the state but without a
guiding and inspirational system of thought. The first phase
lasted until the first fascist state was founded in 1925.
 From 1925 until 1938 the first fascist state operated. Its
primary theoretician was Alfredo Rocco.[6] As he conceived it,
the state was to be a strong, modern nation-state, accepting both
the ideas of capitalism in the socio-economic sphere and a
syndicalist state which brought about a forced union of labor and
capital. Rocco encouraged the tendency of the fascist-sponsored
capitalism to form monopolies and cartels because he believed
that this increased productivity and thus encouraged the growth
of state powers. The new elites of modern society-labor unions,
industrialists, party bureaucracy and civil servants-were to be
placed under the authoritarian control of the state. Indeed, the
state became the single value to which all other values,
including the fascist party itself, were to be subordinated.
 Rocco conceived of creating direct channels of communication
between the masses and the party hierarchy. He demanded that a
hierarchical arrangement of capitalism be created, one in which
the masses would be supportive of the regime because the regime
would guarantee them full employment and higher wages. The party
would provide the mechanism for mass communication with the
leaders of the state. The combination of workers, industrialists
and the omnipresent party representatives would ensure full and
peaceful cooperation which would benefit all while strengthening
the power of the Italian state.
 In this second period of fascism, the Italian electorate
still played a major role. The 400 candidates for the legislature
had to be approved by the voters. The workers played a larger
role in the selection of their representatives and the people at
large had some role in the nomination of the 400 candidates for
the legislature.[7]
 In the third phase of fascism, Mussolini had come under the
spell of Adolf Hitler and his national socialist state. He was
increasingly influenced by the anti-Semitic wing of the fascist
party led by Farinacci and Preziosi. From 1938 until he was
relieved of command by the Grand Fascist Council in 1943
Mussolini became the victim of his own propaganda efforts. He
dreamed of wars of conquest, wars that were far and away beyond
the industrial capacity of the state to sustain. He involved the
state in wars of colonial conquest, perhaps the last of the great
imperialistic wars of Europe.[8]
 In 1938 a change was made in the Italian government which
separated the people from the decision-making process entirely.
The list of parliamentary candidates was no longer offered to the
masses for their approval. Mussolini merely emulated Hitler by

 For Sorel, power and coercion go hand in glove.  Fascist
theoreticians had no reason to change this when they were
required to articulate an ideology of fascism. No rival power was
to be permitted. The state's monopoly on power and coercion
effectively translated to a monopoly for the fascist party since
no other party was permitted. This exclusiveness is also based on
an obvious logic. The fascist party had conceived the fascist
state. One could not think of a "corporate state" or a
"syndicalist state" without thinking of the fascist party.
Fascism was inseparable from corporativism or syndicalism. If one
removed the one concept, he necessarily removed the others. The
fascist party, not the state, was the guardian of the fascist
ideals, especially including syndicalism and the corporate
organization of the state. The orthodoxy of syndicalist ideas was
safeguarded in the fascist party. Hence, the highest value in the
fascist state was syndicalism-corporativism. All force must be
available to ensure its purity and its continued existence. The
fascist party then is able to exercise in the name of ideological
orthodoxy the state's power.
 The fascist party had a special mission to the world as well
as to the Italian people in keeping the ideology orthodox.
Initially, fascism was conceived as an Italian movement, the
natural byproduct and the logical culmination of the emerging
Italian nationalism and its cultural Risorgimento.[29] Little
thought was given to its potential exportability. By the middle
of the 1930s Mussolini had come to the conclusion that fascism
represented the new dynamic driving force that would conquer the
world and take the place of the faded liberalism of the
nineteenth century.
 Giuseppe Mazzini,[30] philosopher, revolutionary,
soldier-of-fortune, patriot and nationalist leader of the
nineteenth century had sought in vain a set of Italian principles
wherewith Italy could re-establish her intellectual leadership
and philosophical pre-eminence in Europe. One or two great ideas,
ideas that would motivate mankind to abandon the false premises
of French liberalism, that was all Mazzini wanted. His own search
for ideas or revolutionary zeal failed. Nonetheless, he was quite
convinced that the rebirth of Italian philosophy and culture, the
Risorgimento, would indeed be ultimately productive to the extent
the Italy would once again be the birthplace of some new idea
wherewith the world would become enticed away from liberalism.
 When the nineteenth century ended without producing such an
awe-inspiring idea many Italian patriots were heartbroken, but
the dream was not vacated. After Italy's catastrophic betrayal at
Versailles, after so many promises made and broken by England and
France, after her dreams of territorial acquisitions had been
betrayed, after so much loss of life, the dream seemed lost
forever. But with the post-war rise of fascism some few fascist
supporters saw the fulfillment of Mazzini's dream. Fascism was to
be the single inspiration point for the Italian nationalistic
dream of cultural and spiritual leadership. All that remained was
to export the idea, the idea that was to supplant liberalism, to
others civilized nations.
 By the time of the great depression, other fascist movements
had arisen in Europe. Even in Southern and Eastern Europe fascist
movements and parties had been founded.[31] The rise of Adolf
Hitler in Germany was the culmination of Mazzini's idea. Germany,
a mighty culture producing nation had seemingly accepted an
Italian idea. England was on the brink of discovering fascism
with Oswald Mosley[32] a mighty leader at the helm.
 It soon appeared that the fascisms that grew up in the
remainder of Europe bore only little similarity to that of Italy,
excepting notably Mosley's British party. Germany's Nazism was
based not on Italian ideals but on German myths, on racism
grounded in a Nordic-Aryan race. The movements in Eastern Europe
remained mystical-religious movements for the most part,
excepting anti-Semitic ideals accepted especially in Poland[33]
and Romania.[34] These movements were decidedly anti-foreign and
extremely nationalistic. They had little interest in the
syndicalist-corporativist state that lay at the heart of Italian
fascism. They shared common features more of national socialism
than of Italian fascism, although each was based in the
nationalist sentiments and frustrations of the particular
nationality involved.
 Fascist movements in general had certain distinguishing
features.[35] They opposed parliamentary governments as being
impotent to handle such worldwide crises as the great depression
of 1929. They distrusted the "laissez-faire" economic system of
capitalism as associated with the French liberal philosophy of
the nineteenth century, for the system had collapsed in 1929.

 Since nothing eludes the fascist state, its power must
necessarily extend to the creation of a superior race.
 It was the ideology, the doctrine of fascism, that would
make of the race a people fit to control a substantial share of
the earth. The vitality of the race would be shown by its works
and deeds rather than by its genetic purity and its physical
characteristics.  A manufactured nation would enjoy power and
prestige; one that had not been properly articulated could not
enjoy the fruits of expansionism.  If the state has done its job
properly its race will show an aggressive foreign policy.  Its
art, drama, music and literature will show an ideologically
motivated vitality that can be appreciated only if observed.
 The people inhabiting a given geographical area are a nation
after they have been motivated and inspired by the ideological
fascist state.  Their nationhood is then not a natural but an
artificial construct, one superimposed on them from above by a
charismatic leader and his fascist party.  Thus the state is
fully empowered to educate its people, to offer them propaganda,
to indoctrinate them fully, and to persuade them by force if
necessary.  It is charged with maintaining ideological purity and
with spreading that orthodoxy.  This is the civilizing mission of
the state.
 The state must provide enriching experiences for its
members. Inasmuch as each individual is unique he must be
fulfilled by offering him opportunities to develop his unique
nature. The state must make him subservient to the state, its
party and its leaders, but it must also enrich his life. While in
the final analysis the individual lives to serve the state, it is
equally important that the fully socialized citizen be given as
many opportunities as he can utilize. Without individualizing
experiences as offered by the state there would be no meaningful
way for the individual to be differentiated from all other
persons in the state. The uniqueness of the fascist state is to
no small extent dependent upon the gathering in of the unique and
individualizing experiences of its various members.
 By offering him help in self-fulfillment, the state has
helped to create the individual. By indoctrinating him with the
ideology with which to approach outside phenomena, it has made
him in its own image. For the fascist, the state has the
obligation, while performing its social, political, and economic
functions, to create the individual person. It must teach him the
values established authoritatively by the state. It must
strengthen the virtues of man. It must provide him with a world
view. It must teach him to reject such alien values as move him
from the state. He and every other individual must be inside the
state, not against it nor outside it. He and all other persons
make up the living body of the organic state.
 The state is properly viewed as a real organic being.[40] It
is not only like any other organic being; it is a living
organism. It has a life all its own. It undergoes various
experiences, including happiness, sorrow, joy, melancholy, ectasy
and the like. It is born out of the ideas of men and their
courage in culminating the act of creation. It matures to
adulthood. It can become ill and it can die. All other beings
living within the state help to comprise it. Some parts die and
others are born to replenish the needs of the state. The state
can show courage, especially in an aggressive foreign policy; it
can also show cowardice in the face of its enemies. Since the
state is primary its life is far and away more important than the
lives of the individuals who are its component parts. Like
individuals it can create art, drama, poetry, music and
literature as a national characteristic.
 There is a spirit, a motivating factor, placed in the state
much like the soul is for man. One can really speak of the
"Italian national spirit" as being something actual, real and
existing. Take away the spirit and the body public dies. Give the
state a healthy spirit and its accomplishments can be almost
without limits.
 The organic analogy offered by fascism is very important
because it tells something of the individual's role in the state.
Ideally, the individual cannot consider himself independent of
his fascist state. He is completely immersed in his state. It
would be unthinkable, inconceivable to be outside the state. When
an individual posits his existence, he is positing the existence
of his state simultaneously. The fascist state offers the only
possible existence for him. The individual without the state
would not exist. The individual and his fascist state are
inseparable.
 Fascist ideology articulates the reason for the individual's
being. It is his source of legitimacy. It is his home, his
patria, his source of thoughts and ideas. An anti-state thought
is impossible.

 This leads us to the ideas of Roberto Michels.[44]  Michels
formulated a hypothesis known as the Iron Law of Oligarchy.[45]
He believed that there would necessarily and inevitably be
competition among elites for political control of all states.
Political leadership is then recognizable only in small groups,
fragments of society, never in larger organizations. Leadership
is always in the hands of the few who compete with other small
groups for control. Stated simply, society requires organization;
organization requires leadership; and leadership in inevitably
oligarchic. To Mussolini, this meant that Mosca's politicized
fragments of society were nothing more than oligarchic groups who
were competing for power. The socialists, the anarchists, the
communists and the fascists were all oligarchies. The competition
was necessarily accompanied by violence. The most prepared and
the most violent would win. The fascists had to be ever vigilant
because no victory was final. The competing fragments of society
were always waiting in the wings, ready to rotate power to
themselves. Hence, another of Michels' laws comes into play.
Because of the threat to the oligarchy in power from other
potential rivals the ruling elite becomes obsessed with the
maintenance of power rather than the application of programs.
  If the proposition that action and thought should always go
together was to have meaning the fascist party had to both
maintain power and develop programs. Without power, programs were
useless. Without doctrine, the maintenance of power was nothing
but an exercise in futility. Mussolini theorized that the threat
of an opposition party ready to seize power would stimulate
fascism to increasingly superior acts on behalf of the state and
its people. Without the agitation of a bit of sand inside its
shell the oyster does not produce a pearl and its value is nil.
 Violence is necessarily produced by an irrational act, but,
then, fascism was an irrational ideology. It was not an ideology
of violence, but it was a doctrine that found violence useful.
The violence was to be directed at its enemies. Both fascists and
their enemies were predetermined to use violence or fail.
 The revolution, since it involved only competing elites, was
superimposed on society from above. Fascism rejected completely
the Marxist doctrine of whole class struggles as we saw above
following Mosca. Thus the idea of a mass revolution, a popular
revolution involving the masses of men rising up spontaneously
from below, this was unthinkable in fascism. All revolutions were
elitist and involved only small fragments of all classes. By many
standards, these titanic struggles could not be called
revolutions since they presume the seizure of the state by the
few, classically called "coups d'etat." The bulk of the fighting
would be done in the underworld of society, much like two giant
sea monsters fighting in the depths who only occasionally surface
enough to show us that a struggle is going on.
 Fascism never claimed that it would necessarily win all such
struggles the way communism claimed inevitable and final victory.
The determining features of nature offer only determined
struggle, not determined outcome. No fascist victory was
necessarily final. While fascist states could cause by their own
efforts final victory, they could as well by errors of omission
and commission cause the battle to be lost.
 Since no victory was final, violence would never disappear
in the state. Violence was the means to come to power and it was
the means of most successfully maintaining power. Violence was
seen to harden the individual. Life after fascism was not to be
the proverbial bed of roses. Fascism promised neither a millenium
nor utopia.
 The heart and soul of fascism was the corporative state.
Its great concern was the syndicalist organization of industry
through the worker-management cooperatives.  This was and remains
its most exportable element.  Mosley recognized this in Great
Britain.  Few other fascists have seen this fact. The racist
fascism of contemporary fascism is more kindred to Nazism than to
fascism, and even it has generally lacked a basic understanding
of Nordic "volk" and Aryan racism.

The ancestry of Berta, merovingian or not, can be the subject of a
lenghty book. But in a few words, I can give the reason which make
probable, for Chaume (who nerver make of Plectrude a merovingian
princess), and others, including myself, her merovingian affiliation :
We know that the villa of Rommersheim is the common property, inherited
of their respective fathers, of King Pippin and his wife Berta, daughter
of count Charibert.
So, given merovingian successoral practice, one person have two
children, one being Pippins father ancestor and the other Bertas
father ancestor.
Otherwise, we know that Rommersheim was previously in the hands of Berta
« of Prum » and that she had in 721 one only surviving son named
Charibert.
So the first conclusion is that Bertas son Charibert is the same that
Charibert, father of queen Berta. The second is that Berta of Prum was
akin of Charles Martel. E. Hlawitschka has build an elaborate theory
which make of Berta the sister of Plectrude, the second wife of Pippin,
charlesfather. He denied so merovingian ancestry for Berta. So the
standard theory. But this theory is a misconception. He does so only
because he fails to find a « natural » link between Berta of Prum and
Charles Martel on the ground of ecclesiastical prohibitions. But this
failure is due to his inadequate search..
Merovingian blood for Berta is expected for onomastic reasons (her name
Berta, her sons name Charibert, her grandson name Theoderic are
all merovingian names). And this explain the merovingian names given by
Charlemagne to is children (not only first sons, Clovis and Clotaire,
but another son, Theoderic, and a daughter, Clotilde).
A good explanation is that one :
The king Theoderic III has a wife Doda. This Doda could be a daughter of
Ansegisel, son of another Doda. So, Ansegisel, presumably share
Rommersheim between his son, Pippin of Herstal and his daughter Doda,
king Theoderics wife. Then Pippins son, Charles Martel inherited that,
and so Berta, Dodas daughter. This explain why King Clothar IV, son of
Theoderic III, was called the cousin of Charles Martel in Ademar of
Chabannes chronicle.

  Conspiracy codified in the Bible as just an ARCHETYPE --a "dramatized"
  symbolic representation of something deeply rooted in human nature,
manifest
  in history-- or, to accommodate even religious literalists, accepting it
as
 a
  HYPOTHESIS (in practice, "let's ASSUME, for the sake of argument, that this
  is a feasible explanation , and now let's all TEST it  skeptically, to see
  how well it "fits" when faced with "outside," "contradictory" data"),

  Once, not so long ago, trade was the province of policy wonks and special 
interests--and the experts and lobbyists liked it that way. No longer. Now it's a hot 
political issue. One reason is the growth of trade; just 4 percent of GDP in the early 
fifties, it's more than 13 percent today. Another is that international capital flows, 
ranging from productive pursuits like building factories to speculative ones like 
betting against national currencies, have grown even more strongly. And still another 
is that the areas covered by trade agreements have widened from traditional concerns 
with tariffs and quotas to cover labor, environmental and health regulations as well.

  NAFTA was the first major trade fight, occurring at a time in the early nineties 
when downsizings were plentiful and new jobs were scarce. To many it looked like a 
scheme for greasing the departure of US manufacturing to cheaper, friendlier 
climes--Ross Perot's famous "giant sucking sound." A year after NAFTA took effect, a 
whole new trade regime came into being with the birth of the World Trade Organization 
in January 1995, replacing the much looser set of agreements that had regulated world 
trade since the late forties. The WTO has vast powers to adjudicate trade disputes and 
invalidate regulations it deems impediments to trade through "expert" tribunals 
meeting secretly in Geneva. In effect, it's a form of world government with almost no 
popular accountability.

  So far, so outrageous. But the WTO--and "globalization"--should be kept in some kind 
of perspective: Much of today's economic stress is the result of national economic 
policies, not global ones, and much of that stress is the effect of fairly ancient 
features of capitalism, among which "globalization" is merely one important part.

  Since the WTO's birth, life has gotten a lot more difficult for free-traders. In 
1997 President Clinton was denied so-called fast-track authority to negotiate trade 
deals; it's hard to imagine any new trade agreement getting approved in the near 
future. More globally, a new international movement has grown up over the past few 
years to frustrate the designs of those who'd further liberalize trade and capital 
flows. Its first major victory was the defeat of the Multilateral Agreement on 
Investment, a kind of bill of rights for capital that was being negotiated quietly. 
The movement has creatively used the Internet to organize and inform, a fact that has 
caused great distress among elites around the world.

  An important milestone in this new era of trade politics will be the WTO's summit 
meeting opening on November 30 in Seattle. As host, the Clinton Administration had 
hoped the summit would mark the opening of a Millennial Round of trade negotiations 
further expanding the liberalization agenda. But thousands of activists decided to 
crash the party. There will be demonstrations, teach-ins and street theater, designed 
both to spoil the summiteers' mood and to educate people about the WTO.

  What follows is a sampling of progressive opinion about the WTO and "globalization" 
in general. All the participants agree that the WTO, as presently constituted, has 
some serious problems; the disagreements flare up over what to do about it and over 
whether "globalization" is fundamentally a good or a bad thing. We hope this 
encourages discussion in an area where the depth of knowledge isn't always as profound 
as the depth of feeling.

  How much does "globalization" matter? Are there other factors that get ignored when 
so much stress is placed on it?

  Dani Rodrik: Certain aspects of globalization fall far short of the amount of 
globalization that we observed at the tail end of the previous century. I think we 
often exaggerate the degree to which national governments are constrained by global 
forces. Often governments find it too easy to say, "We can't do this or that because 
corporations will flee or we'll lose exports." National governments still have a lot 
of autonomy, and political forces, NGOs and others who want improvement in local

 A WHISTLEBLOWER from one of
 the most secret intelligence units in
 the British army has revealed that
 it tried to destroy police evidence
 by burgling and burning the
 operations centre of a
 high-powered investigation.

 A breaking-and-entry team from
 the army's special intelligence wing
 based at Ashford, Kent, carried out
 the raid at the heart of a fortified
 police station, according to the
 former undercover soldier.

 Their target was the offices of John
 Stevens, the senior police officer
 who will take over as the
 Metropolitan police commissioner
 on January 1. He was investigating
 links between the police, the
 security forces and loyalist
 murders in Northern Ireland.

 Details of the illegal
 burgle-and-burn assault by a secret
 arm of the British state on a figure
 whose task was to enforce the law
 have emerged as hopes of peace in
 Ulster are at their highest for 30
 years.

 The whistleblower, who uses the
 pseudonym Martin Ingram, was a
 member of the force research unit
 (FRU), a clandestine cell within the
 army Intelligance Corps that
 handled agents in the Provisional
 IRA and loyalist paramilitary
 movements.

 Ingram, who served in the
 Intelligence Corps between 1980
 and 1991, has asked for his real
 name to be withheld, but has
 shown The Sunday Times evidence
 of his role in the FRU. He says that
 intelligence officers knew the cause
 of the late-night "mystery fire" that
 gutted Stevens's top-floor
 operations room at Carrickfergus
 police station on January 10, 1990.

 A "covert methods of entry" (CME)
 team had been brought in after
 Stevens's investigators discovered
 that Brian Nelson, the head of
 intelligence in the UDA loyalist
 organisation, was also acting as a
 FRU agent. Through him, the FRU
 had a great deal of control over the
 UDA's targeting of Catholics and
 republicans.

 The attack was to delay the work
 of the Stevens inquiry, Ingram
 said. The FRU "wanted a little bit
 of time to construct an alternative
 cover story" to explain its
 relationship with Nelson. In the
 event, however, Stevens had
 back-up files. Nelson was later
 jailed for 10 years, and the FRU
 was disbanded.

 Ingram has also revealed another
 of military intelligence's secrets:
 that a British soldier was sacrificed
 so that an IRA informer's identity
 would be protected.

 Accusations that the FRU allowed
 attacks on republican suspects and
 Catholic civilians to proceed have
 been made before. Some of these
 deaths are being investigated
 again.

 Ingram brings in significant new
 information, mainly concerning the
 death of Neil Clarke, a private in
 the 2nd Battalion the Queen's
 Regiment, who was shot dead by a
 sniper during an attack on an army
 patrol in Londonderry in 1984.

 The young soldier was killed with
 a rifle from an arms dump
 controlled by Frank Hegarty, a
 FRU informer within the IRA.

 According to Ingram, the FRU not
 only knew about the arms dump
 but had brought in Intelligence
 Corps ballistics experts to remove
 the weapons and test fire them. It
 had then returned them to the
 dump.Shortly before Clarke died
 Hegarty told his handlers that an
 IRA go-between had asked for
 rifles from the dump for an
 operation but no action was taken
 by the FRU.

 It would have been possible for the
 army to have bugged the weapons
 or rendered them inoperable. But
 two senior officers decided not to,
 for fear of compromising Hegarty's
 cover within the IRA. The strategic
 decision paid off when Hegarty
 discovered the location of a
 massive IRA arms dump in the
 Irish republic.

 The weapon that killed Clarke was
 recovered by police in a haul that
 included two other rifles. Police
 sources revealed that the three
 guns had been used in a dozen
 attacks, including the murder of
 Clarke and Private Martin Patten,
 18, of the Royal Anglian Regiment.

Russian Military Researcher Suspected Of Spying For U.S.

MOSCOW, Nov 20, 1999 -- (Agence France Presse) A leading researcher at a
Russian international relations institute has been charged with treason on
suspicion of spying for the United States, the Itar-Tass news agency said
Friday.

Igor Sutyagin, director of the department for military and technical
cooperation at the prestigious Institute of the U.S. and Canada, part of the
Russian Academy of Sciences, was arrested Thursday, said the agency citing
FSB (ex-KGB) security services spokesman Alexander Zdanovich.

Sutyagin is suspected of passing secret documents to a U.S. nuclear security
expert Joshua Handler.

Handler's Moscow apartment was searched last month and a computer and
documents seized, said the daily Kommersant.

Handler is a Princeton University specialist in nuclear radiation and
security. The pair met on several occasions when Handler was preparing a
thesis on nuclear disarmament.

Sutyagin was arrested by the FSB near Kaluga, 150 kilometres (90 miles) south
of Moscow, the FSB spokesman said.

The spokesman refused to give any other details, invoking the "secret nature

For nearly 50 years an elite group of the West's most powerful men and women, a shadow
world government, have met in secret. Tony Blair is in the club. Every US president since
Ike Eisenhower has been too. So are top members of the British Government. So are the
people who control what you watch and read - the media barons. Which is why you may never
have heard of Bilderberg.

Lines of black limousines, unmarked except for a 'B' on the windscreen, swept in,
sometimes accompanied by police escorts, sometimes not, says an eyewitness of this
year's meeting in Portugal. A helicopter was overhead, and other security officers
were prudently patrolling the hillsides. The policy on duty at the gates made it crystal
clear that they were only the tip of the security iceberg.

For two-and-a-half days, relaxing in exclusive luxury amid vast armed security, the
powerful leaders discussed past and future wars, a European superstate, a global currency,
genetics, and the dismantling of the welfare state. Unaccountable, untroubled and
unreported, the Bilderberg meetings have formed the basis of international policy for
decades.

Last year freelance journalist Campbell Thomas was arrested just for knocking on doors
near the clandestine gathering in Turnberry, Scotland. He remained in custody for eight
hours. Other journalists were told that even the Bilderberg menu was confidential (a move
they named 'Kippergate'). A serving police officer told 'The Big Issue': Special
Branch and CIA were everywhere - they were calling the shots.

Never in its 47-year history has the content of these discussions been made public. Until
now. 'The Big Issue' has uncovered the Bilderberg Papers - the secret minutes of this
year's meeting in Portugal. Some of it is banal, some of it sensational. It blows the lid
off the thoughts of presidents, chairmen of multinational companies, world bankers, Nato
chiefs and defence ministers.

The meetings are shrouded in such secrecy that Prime Minister Tony Blair, when asked last
year in the House of Commons, failed to disclosed his own attendance at Bilderberg in
Athens in 1993.

The oldest of the oligarchical British families who were leaders in the
opium trade for the past 200 years are still in it today. Take the
Mathesons, for instance. This "noble" family is one of the pillars of the
opium trade. When things looked a bit shaky a few years ago, the Mathesons
stepped in and gave China a loan of $300 million for real estate investment.
Actually it was billed as a "joint venture between the People's Republic of
China and the Matheson Bank." When researching India Office papers of the
1700's I came across the name of Matheson, and it kept on cropping up
everywhere--London, Peking, Dubai, Hong Kong, wherever heroin and opium are
mentioned.

The problem with the drug trade is that it has become a threat to national
sovereignty. Here is what the Venezuelan Ambassador to the United Nations
said about this world-wide threat:

"The problem of drugs has already ceased to be dealt with simply as one of
public health or a social problem. It has turned into something far more
serious and far-reaching which affects our national sovereignty; a problem
of national security, because it strikes at the independence of a nation.
Drugs in all their manifestations of production, commercialization and
consumption, denaturalizes us by injuring our ethical, religious and
political life, our historic, economic, and republican values."

This is precisely the way the Bank of International Settlements and the IMF
are operating. Let me say without hesitation that both these banks are
nothing more than bully-boy clearing houses for the drug trade. The BIS
undermines any country that the IMF wants to sink by setting up ways and
means for the easy outflow of flight capital. Nor does BIS recognize nor
make any distinction when it comes down to what is flight capital and what
is laundered drug money.
The BIS operates on gangster lines. If a country will not submit to
asset-stripping by the IMF, then it says in effect, "Right, then we will
break you by means of the huge cache of narco-dollars we are holding." It is
easy to understand why gold was demonetized and substituted with the paper
"dollar" as the world's reserve currency. It is not as easy to blackmail a
country holding gold reserves as it is one having its reserves in paper
dollars.
The IMF held a meeting in Hong Kong a few years ago which was attended by a
colleague of mine and he told me the seminar dealt with this very question.
He informed me that the IMF agents told the meeting that they could
literally cause a run on any country's currency, using narco-dollars, which
would precipitate a flight of capital. Rainer-Gut, a Credit Suisse delegate
and member of the Committee of 300, said he foresaw a situation where
national credit and national financing would be under one umbrella
organization by the turn of the century. While Rainer-Gut did not spell it
out, everybody at the seminar knew exactly what he was talking about.
From Colombia to Miami, from the Golden Triangle to the Golden Gate, from
Hong Kong to New York, from Bogota to Frankfurt, the drug trade, and more
especially the heroin trade, is BIG BUSINESS and it is run from the top down
by some of the most "untouchable" families in the world, and each of those
families have at least one member who is on the Committee of 300. It is not
a street corner business, and it takes a great deal of money and expertise
to keep it flowing smoothly. The machinery under control of the Committee of
300 ensures this.
