[darktable-dev] Provide proof to nVidia that my system freezes are not darktable's fault
I am having by a lot of time, system freezes when darktable uses OpenCL with my nVidia Geforce GTX260 340xx drivers. I am pretty sure that it is a nVidia fault because when I started experiencing this kind of troubles, I started experiencing them on BOINC too. When the system freezes, the only way to use it is by SSH. I started some forum threads in nvidia forums, providing nvidia-bugreport.sh logs, but I have not received any feedback. You know is not easy to get attention from drivers developers, but now I have the possibility to exchange messages with one of them. Since the first thing they tell you is "the problem is the software you are using, not nVidia drivers" I need your help to attach (together nvidia-bugreport.sh logs) to my e-mail, a proof that darktable is working fine. Any ideas? ___ darktable developer mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-dev+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org

[darktable-dev] Wish: lighttable zoomed view when moving among photos
Hi, I created a feature wish ticket [1], about "lighttable zoomed view when moving among photos" and I would like to promote it / discuss it even in developers mailing list. Description: As every darktable user knows, lighttable is a powerful tool to select best photos, especially when you shoot burst of photos. By the way I would like to propose an improvement. There are very often burst of photos that changes only for a very little detail, so to quickly classify them and choose the better photo, you should be able to comfortable see that little detail zoomed. So it could be very useful to have a zoomed view in lighttable: I mean, you should be able to *keep* a zoomed view of a *portion* of the image, while moving between different shoots, so you can appreciate the difference between them. An example of use case is: in shoots that contains people, someone could have a bad facial expression in one shoot (eyes almost closed), but in next photos his expression could be better. Actually to be able to zoom the detail of photos you must everytime switch to darkroom, action that is slower because the machine renders the photo at full details. The same if you move among photos while in darkroom mode. Some photos of the burst may be blurred because I moved the camera while shooting, instead some other shoots of the same burst could have less blur effect beause my hands were not moving during its exposure time so the photo will have less blur effect. [darktable-dev] 3.0.0 RC broken current image cursor after image classification
In darktable lightview, I always used to order photos "sort by rating", and then set the file manager with '1' shown photos (the highest zoom). Then I classified photos, for example pressing R to reject a photo, and then moved ahead with the mouse scroll wheel. On darktable 3.0.0 RC(0,1,2) I have noticed that after having marked a photo as rejected, once I scroll the mouse wheel, the current photo "cursor" will be resetted so I have to go through all photos again. I mean, let assume we have photos 1,2,3,4,5,6. The cursor is on photo 3, I press R, then I move the mouse wheel because now I want to move to photo 4. If I am using darktable 3.0.0, after having pressed the R button on photo 3, scrolling the mouse wheel will trigger darktable to show photo 1, rather than photo 4 This was not happening with previous darktable releases ___ darktable developer mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-dev+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org

Hello, I am only now reading your reply cause the message was in the spam folder, due darktable domain wrong settings https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues/15906 ROCm is simply not reliable on consumer cards and never has been. ROCm 6.0 officially only supports the MI100/MI200/MI300 data center GPUs, the Radeon Pro W7900/W6800/V620/VII and the Radeon RX 7900/VII on at most kernel 6.2 (Ubuntu 22.04.3). Everything else is unsupported. Indeed I have another Radeon card which is a RX480 and it is a second class citizen since it is not supported by rocm. It does not even have HDCP support so I am forced to watch video streaming with a very low resolution When the drm/amdgpu errors started appearing, I would usually have at most 20 minutes until the whole machine would lock itself up. My Radeon 680M suffered till recently of this 1 year old bugreport https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/2220 For me the situation became so unbearable last year, I ended up plugging in an Intel Arc A770 GPU besides my RX 6600 XT. The A770 only does OpenCL (not just for darktable), the RX 6600 XT only graphics (ROCm is not installed). I would maybe be able to get my hand on an MI100, but they're passively cooled and don't fit into a standard ATX case. Have you ever tried to unpack propertary AMD OpenCL drivers somewhere and exposing them to darktable with a command like OPENCL_VENDOR_PATH=/home/user/amd_opencl/etc/OpenCL/vendors/ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/home/user/amd_opencl/opt/amdgpu-pro/lib64/ darktable it works for my old RX480 P.S. Not just using a different/recent kernel can break a working setup, but also changing the firmware files (usually installed in /lib/firmware/amdgpu/). An update of the firmware package might therefore also break a previously working kernel. [darktable-dev] Translations: dubts
I just finished to translate to Italian the missing strings. I have some dubts: No. 1 We have, in lens.c maker:%s model:%s focal range:%s aperture:%s crop factor:%.1f type:%s mounts:%s Does "focal range:%s" stand for "focal length"? No. 2 When I have some dubts, I usually check the English-French translations. I have a question:the string "range extent" has been translated as "étendue de clarté" that in English means "brightness range" So, which is the correct translation? ___ darktable developer mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-dev+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org
