Hi,

It'd be nice if you could use 'baz status' and just list the files
belonging to a particular changes (additions, mods, deletions, meta-data
only, etc.)

Perhaps something like the subject would be acceptable for the command
line.

Bug#298162: vim: Entering Euro char via digraph doesn't work with LC_CTYPE=de_DE@euro

2005-03-05 Thread Thomas Arendsen Hein
Package: vim

Severity: normal

If I have set [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] entering an
Euro char via :digraph ee 164 doesn't work. Using Ctrl-V 1 6 4
works fine. If LC_CTYPE is de_DE, en_US or C, digraph for Euro char
works, too, even after using :language ctype [EMAIL PROTECTED] from

Entering other special characters via digraph works, too.

This problem also exists in vim 6.3.62 on x86 compiled from source,
but it doesn't exist in vim 6.1.18 from Debian woody.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] is configured with /etc/locale.gen and locale-gen.

Bug#298127: db2latex-xsl: Please create TOC by default (for book)

* Roland Stigge [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote [050304 22:53]:

currently, no table of contents is created by default for books.
Instead, I need to manually create one with toc/. Other target formats
usually generate a TOC by default. So db2latex should do that also.

I don't think that this is the right way.
The reason that there is the markup tag toc is exactly as to give the
author the opportunity to decide himself whether he wants a toc or not.
Quite a few of my book documents don't have a toc.

If a user always wants a toc for his books he could easily achieve
this in his customization layer.

Bug#298125: db2latex-xsl: German Umlaut pattern leads to bad output

2005-03-05 Thread Michael Wiedmann
* Roland Stigge [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote [050304 22:42]:

in a lang=de book, consider a pattern like this:

 123 abc

db2latex-xsl seems to copy this to the output, causing LaTeX to create
 an A-Umlaut (Ä).

If using a lang attribute (which IMO is good practice) for DocBook Documents
which are to be processed using db2latex the user should contact the babel
documentation and read carefully all the options for the chosen
language.

shorthands are quite often used in babel and can be switched
off. This depends on the language.

For the given example the customization layer should emit (after
\begin{document}:

\shorthandoff{}

and all is fine...

IMO it is very difficult to find reasonable babel default values for a
given language, so the user _must_ configure babel in a
customization layer anyhow.

I think it will be a release-critical bug if only amd64 was a supported
  arch.

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but the simple fact is that amd64 is not a
supported arch, and therefore this bug is *not* release-critical.

I know that already, but I think that this small patch doesn't affect the
stability of other arch, but maybe I'm wrong about that, not possible to
simply add this patch? It worked on last 3 revisions of xfree, -9, -10 and
-11.

If you'd like some good news, I have started work on packaging X.Org X11
6.8.2. This should have better support for AMD64 and a lot of other nice
 things besides.

This is a great news!

 The Subversion repository is here:

 svn://necrotic.deadbeast.net/xorg-x11

I'll try that very soon, tnx.

Also, in the future, please send followups to bug reports to the bug

For sure.
Tnx for your reply.

2005-03-05 Thread Clemens Bier
Hi Hubert and Bastian,

I have the same problems as Hubert.

Last known version working on my machine is 0.9.20-9

I have the same volume entry as Hubert except another partition name in
my /etc/security/pam_mount.conf. If I use the current version, i get the
following errors:

Bug#298167: blender: insecure writing to /tmp/quit.blender

2005-03-05 Thread Bill Allombert
Package: blender
Version: 2.35-1.1
Severity: serious
Tags: security

Hello Masayuki,

It seems there is a trivially exploitable symlink attack in blender:

To reproduce:
1) ln -s $HOME/foo /tmp/quit.blend
2) run blender
3) Create some objects
4) quit blender
5) blender output:
Saved session recovery to /tmp/quit.blend

Blender quit
6) Now $HOME/foo has been written to.

Looking at the code:
./source/blender/blenkernel/intern/blender.c line 666 (no joke):

/* no undo state to save */
if(undobase.first==undobase.last) return;

BLI_make_file_string(/, str, U.tempdir, quit.blend);

file = open(str,O_BINARY+O_WRONLY+O_CREAT+O_TRUNC, 0666);
if(file == -1) {
printf(Unable to save %s\n, str);
return;
}

blender needs to also set O_EXCL when opening the file to prevent
the symlink attack. However it seems a better fix to save this file
in $HOME/.blender: if several users run blender on the same machine,
only the first one will benefit of the /tmp/quit.blend.

Cheers,

yes that's i2c.h
I have check on my system, the definition of i2c_adapter is the same in

never thought about XF86Config-4, since I didn't thought it would affect
this setting. I had completely forgotten about since, since I'm using
the KDE keyboard tool in KDE itself to decide which keymap to use. Maybe
this should be documented somewhere? But at least you can close this
bugreport and thanks for your help.

Bug#298169: mpg321 is setuid root and can be used to overwrite arbitrary files using -w

2005-03-05 Thread Chris Wedgwood
Package: mpg321
Version: 0.2.10.3
Severity: critical
Tags: security

mpg312 is installed setuid root probably to do scheduler magic or
whatever (didn't check). Anyhow, this means you can invoke it using
mpg321 -w /etc/passwd foo/mp3 or whatever.

For now I would suggest we remove the suid bit (clearly this has
issues to, but those are less sever than being able to trash arbitrary
files as non-root).

2005-03-05 Thread Chris Vanden Berghe
Package: jack

As far as I can see, the problem described in bug 266052 is still present in

possible for the maintainer to patch jack in a similar way as the submitter of
this bug has done?

The current situation makes Jack partially unusable for all people that use it
on non-english music...

Thanks a lot,

E.g. I use de_DE as default locale but most of my Docbook documents
are written in english. IMO one cannot deduce from the locale setting
what language a document is written in.

IMO it is more than good practice to use a lang attribute for
DocBook XML documents. Doing this will enbale db2latex to set the

- Use section instead of sect1. The db2latex templates renders

A more complicated solution could be (though not useful as a genaral

- Override the template

  xsl:template match=sect1|sect2|sect3|sect4|sect5|simplesect

I just use scripts, but I started to implement a means in which
multiple packages can modify the initrd. It's very rudimentary

I just packaged kernel-patch-suspend2, which uses

My suggestion is to use the same approach as kernel-package and to
allow scripts to be installed into /etc/mkinitrd/scripts/$VERSION,
which is processed after /etc/mkinitrd/scripts. The following patch
 enables this:

I've been making some tests, and it seems ogmdemux segfaults when
processing OGM files with MP3 audio. OGM with OGG audio works well,
but I haven't tested it too much.

If this is true, I suppose the severity of the bug should be diminished
to normal or something like that.

Bug#271313: packages depending on xview on ia64.

2005-03-05 Thread Kurt Roeckx
severity 271313 serious
thanks

Hi,

This bug seems to be open for a very long time without reaction.
I'm setting this to serious since those binaries do not work at
all on ia64.

grep-dctrl says that the following source packages build-depends
on xviewg-dev:
circlepack
gom
imaze
jove
workman
xvmount
treetool

They all depends on it without an arch restriction. This means
that they can't be build at this time and that all binaries
provided by those source packages should be removed, even though
they don't all depend on xview.

This gives the following list of binary packages:
circlepack
gom
gom-x
imazesrv
imaze-xview
imaze-lesstif
imaze-xlabed
imaze-sounds
imaze-xaw
jove
xjove
workman
xvmount
treetool

And the binaries provided by xview itself:
xview-examples
olwm
olvwm
xview-clients
xviewg
xviewg-dev

Bug#298138: ssh: PermitRootLogin should defaul to no

2005-03-05 Thread Thijs Kinkhorst
On Sat, March 5, 2005 02:41, Matthew Vernon said:
Please read README.Debian before submitting your bug reports - this is
good practice for any package, not just ssh.

You're absolutely correct, I should have done that, sorry.

If you permit, I'd like to ask a question about this. To me, the text in
README.Debian is not clear on the following point: how is allowing root
login just as secure as not allowing that?

You write:
If you set it to no, then they must compromise a normal user
account. In the vast majority of cases, this does not give added
security; remember that any account you su to root from is equivalent
to root - compromising this account gives an attacker access to root
easily.

As I understand this, the hacker has to do the following to gain superuser
privileges.

PRL-on:
1. Know the root password.
PRL-off:
1. Compromise a normal user account (one that allows su-ing).
2. Know the root password or a local root exploit.

The second one is hence more difficult than the first one (compromising
two accounts is inherently more difficult than one). Step (1) can be more
challenging because you need to know a valid username (also not always
trivial since systems are configured by default not to leak this
information).

So to me it just seems to add some extra security to the whole thing,
doesn't it?

I've done some web searching and found out that many security documents /
HOWTO's / manuals advise to turn this off. And found none that actually
advise to turn it on.

Secondly, I don't see the great advantage of turning it on. You might
argue whether turning it off makes things more secure or not, but in the
worst case it's at least just as secure as turning it off. I don't see a
good reason to allow remote root logins *by default* to newly installed
boxes, and those who have a good reason to want it can easily turn it on.

I'm interested in your views on this matter.

Regards,

Thijs Kinkhorst

Bug#298116: wwwoffle: init.d script won't be able to control wwwoffled if bind-ipv* != localhost

2005-03-05 Thread Paolo
Package: wwwoffle
Version: 2.8e-1
Followup-For: Bug #298116

hello,

this is somewhat different though closely releated to the config/control
deadlock reported previously (I guess).
And, well, I'd rise the rank of this bug to 'grave', as it breaks pkg
functionality, and may open security issues: no way to control wwwoffled
anymore:

#wwwoffle.conf---
  bind-ipv4 = 192.168.0.13
  http-port = 5865
  wwwoffle-port = 5866
  password = secret
#
 # wwwoffle -status
wwwoffle[32335] Warning: Failed to connect socket to 'localhost' port '8081'
[Connection refused].
wwwoffle[32335] Fatal: Cannot open connection to wwwoffle server localhost
port 8081.

[2.8e-1 on Sarge, on same host as wwwoffled ]
 # wwwoffle -status -p 192.168.0.13:5866
 [no answer, rc=0]

[2.7a on Woody, on same host as wwwoffled ]
 # wwwoffle -status -p 192.168.0.13:5866
 WWWOFFLE Incorrect Password

I think the old behaviour is better.

 # wwwoffle -status -c /etc/wwwoffle/wwwoffle.conf
wwwoffle[32337] Warning: Failed to connect socket to 'localhost' port '5866'
[Connection refused].
wwwoffle[32337] Fatal: Cannot open connection to wwwoffle server localhost
port 5866.

 # wwwoffle -status -c /etc/wwwoffle/wwwoffle.conf -p 192.168.0.13:5866
wwwoffle: The '-p' and '-c' options cannot be used together.

same for any other -command of course - in particular, for the initial
-config on start from init.d script.
Thus I've closed the door leaving the key on the other side.
/etc/init.d/wwwoffle * won't be able to stop/restart the demon.

Note that's perfectly reasonable to _not_ bind to 127.0.0.1.

I don't see any solution at script level. wwwoffle should just be able
to do the right thing when given the -c file, though I'd rather have the
-pwd option, as that's more fexible.

Now the SECURITY issues.

start with
#wwwoffle.conf---
  bind-ipv4 = 0.0.0.0
  http-port = 5865
  wwwoffle-port = 5866
  password =
#

[from remote (allowed) host]
 # wwwoffle -status -p 192.168.0.13:5866
 WWWOFFLE Server Status
 --
 Version : 2.8e
 State: offline
 Fetch: inactive
 Purge: inactive
 Last-Online : unknown
 Last-Offline : unknown
 Total-Servers: 0
 Fetch-Servers: 0

Set a password (pseudo-diff)
#wwwoffle.conf---
- password =
+ password = secret
#

[from either remote (allowed) host or localhost]
 # wwwoffle -config -p 192.168.0.13:5866
 WWWOFFLE Reading Configuration File.
 WWWOFFLE Read Configuration File.

[from either remote (allowed) host or localhost]
 # wwwoffle -config -p 192.168.0.13:5866
 WWWOFFLE Reading Configuration File.
 WWWOFFLE Read Configuration File.

well, that shouldn't happen as the new config set a pwd; I'm faked into
thinking I've set a pwd but actually wwwoffled did not reload the config.
I need to go restart the init.d script; but if I started with binding to
other than 0.0.0.0 that wouldn't work either, as wwwoffle won't be able
to contact wwwoffled and -kill it, I need to killall wwwoffled, then
start the init.d script.

I realize there are bigger problems to deal with; thanks for

This report and proposed patch was rejected by upstream. Upstream
explained that if we fix with this kind of patch for removing
-Wwrite-strings warnings, some user programs (which don't use const
 char) start compilation warnings.

It is never safe to write to a string literal so there is no advantage
to them in treating them as non-const. I think those programs should
be fixed instead of imposing this bug on correct programs.

SYSLOG_NAMES is used for obsolete purpose,

Please can you say what we should use instead?

and it's not well used these days, so their argument seems one of

yes, that is clear to me, but shouldn't apt say something like:

in my opinion the current behavior is very confusing.

Bug#298169: mpg321 is setuid root and can be used to overwrite arbitrary files using -w

Its not s[ug]id anything on the three machines I just checked. Are
you sure you didn't set that bit yourself?

mpg312 is installed setuid root probably to do scheduler magic or
whatever (didn't check). Anyhow, this means you can invoke it using
 mpg321 -w /etc/passwd foo/mp3 or whatever.

For now I would suggest we remove the suid bit (clearly this has
issues to, but those are less sever than being able to trash arbitrary
 files as non-root).

Bug#298180: rails: Might need to depend on bash 3.0

2005-03-05 Thread Urpo Lankinen
Package: rails
Version: 0.10.0-1
Severity: normal

When I invoked /usr/bin/rails under bash 2.x, no matter what
parameters I used, rails always showed me the manual page for rails.
When I upgraded to 3.0, it worked perfectly.
Is this because $BASH_ARGV is only available in 3.x? Would it be justified
to make rails depend on bash = 3.0?

Obviously, you can't do that as non-root. This is
probably something you should to in the postinst and
postrm script instead.

PS: Maybe a debhelper script for that would be useful, I
guess you're not the only one who has to do that.

Bug#298138: ssh: PermitRootLogin should defaul to no

You're absolutely correct, I should have done that, sorry.

If you permit, I'd like to ask a question about this. To me, the text in
README.Debian is not clear on the following point: how is allowing root
login just as secure as not allowing that?

Note that OpenSSH upstream ship with PermitRootLogin switched on as
well. This isn't a Debian-specific change.

Much easier: compromise a normal user account, install a keylogger, and
wait for that user to su to root. As long as you have an account which
is privileged in this way, you should treat it with the same care as you
treat your root account, since it is ultimately equivalent to root with
only a little work. PermitRootLogin no often buys only the illusion of
security, and we'd rather people thought about the issues a little more
carefully than that. Providing the illusion of security without
providing real security is dangerous, since (in this case) it encourages
people to use effectively root-equivalent user accounts as if they were
unprivileged: they must have turned PermitRootLogin off for a reason.

User accounts, by their nature, tend to be easier to attack.

Cheers,

2005-03-05 Thread Christian Perrier
Security and release teams, may I have your advice about this suggestion?

As you may know, I currently act as maintainer for the shadow package,
but I'm also aware of my own weaknesses when it comes at security (and
security-related) issues so I prefer getting the advice of more
competent people.

Given that installing login non setuid has been blessed for Ubuntu,
I'm inclined to follow the suggestion, but doing so close to a release
is maybe not wise.so I'm seeking for advices..:-)

Hi!

/bin/login is currently installed setuid root, which is absolutely not
necessary and only a potential security threat. In Ubuntu we install
it as 0755 for ages now without any problems.

Trivial patch, but for the record:

  http://patches.ubuntu.com/patches/shadow.login-nosuid.diff

Please consider making this change for Debian, too.

Thanks,

Martin

Yes, it does. It _allows_ incoming mail but does not require it. And
the SMTP daemon will only listen on 127.0.0.1 by default, i.e. the

Bug#283895: we will wait for qt4

2005-03-05 Thread Mathieu Roy
Hello,

This bug is truly annoying. People of KDE says that packagers have
been told about the patch and that we should bug them if we have this
problem.

We have this problem and it practically makes konqueror unusable
(hence the important severity). Will sarge be shipped with a broken
konqueror due to klipper, that freezes each time someone do a
copy/paste with the mouse? How about applying the proposed patch in
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80072

And it's not like if no KDE release have been made since this bug has
been reported.

Regards,

Bug#298183: lesstif1-1: Further unfixed XPM buffer overflows (CAN-2005-0605)

2005-03-05 Thread Moritz Muehlenhoff
Package: lesstif1-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security, patch
Justification: user security hole

Quoting from a recent Gentoo security advisory:
Chris Gilbert discovered potentially exploitable buffer overflow cases
in libXpm that weren't fixed in previous libXpm security advisories.

This has been assigned CAN-2005-0605, Woody should be affected as
well.

The attached patch has been taken from Gentoo bugtracking, as the
lesstif CVS doesn't have a commit yet. Judging from the source I assume
that this fixes only lesstif2, but not lesstif1, am I correct?

Cheers,
Moritz

Bug#283895: we will wait for qt4? Other option

2005-03-05 Thread Mathieu Roy
I forgot to say in my previous mail that if someone configure klipper
to
synchronize the content of the buffer and the selection
(it may not be the exact wording, I'm using localized version, so I'm
guessing the english version)

the symptons apparently no longer shows up (or rarely).

If it is not an option to get patched version of qt or klipper (I dont
exactly now the specifics about the patch), could it be an option to
have klipper by default set to this, or even the other settings being
blocked?
That would be helpful to users that havent time to poke around the
configuration to find this workaround by themselves.

Regards,

Bug#297663: iso-codes: german translation misses important codes

Quoting Wolfgang Rohdewald ([EMAIL PROTECTED]):
 Package: iso-codes

At least all european languages should be translated.

I leave the comment that european languages are important to you I
usually avoid such comment which may hurt people's feelings. I guess
you probably didn't make it on purpose, of course.

E.g. Greek, Modern (1453-) and Spanish (Castilian) have
 no german translation

Well, opening bugs for incomplete translations is quite uncommon. Most
often, people just complete the translations and submit them as
patches..:-)

In that case, I can send you the de.po file for ISO-639, Wolfgang, so
that you can complete it, have it reviewed by the german translation
team and then send it to this bug. Would you be OK with that?

Be aware that this may not be as easy as it seems...:-). Except for
obvious cases, having a good translation for a language name in
another language is not always easyespecially when this is about a
language you've never heard of..:)

Anyway...as mentioned, everyone is welcome to complete this translation.

XEmacs has its own, builtin AUCTeX package. There are wishlist requests
to provide the separate (and usually more up-to-date) AUCTeX package

Temporal workaround is to add (require 'overlay) to your

doesn't require this. So, in some situation, this error occurs.

sounds like your file don't get rotated. (laptop or whatever)

Ok, I've done some further investigation. The problem seems to be caused
by installing syslog-ng which changes the logrotate configuration of
/var/log/syslog to _not_ delay compress anymore. This way, there's an
old /var/log/syslog.0 file left which doesn't get cycled anymore.

logcheck remails a file if the the inode of the file changes,
then it can no longer assume to have the same file to check
  with previsou offset.

Though, the modification time of /var/log/syslog.0 is Dec 13th and it
contains all the lines logcheck reports again and again in the daily
 'System Events' emails.

 -rw-r- 1 root adm 28K Feb 26 06:29 syslog.7.gz

Since the syslog.0 hasn't changed and since logcheck reports lines from
it (not all lines, just the first half of the file) again and again I
still think there's some kind of problem.

  how often does that happen?

It happens daily with the 'System Events' emails.

do you have a seperate dir of logcheck messages?
could you send a typical example.

What do you mean by separate dir of logcheck messages?

Bug#298189: qpopper: Could create SSL certificate on installation

2005-03-05 Thread Phil Endecott
Package: qpopper
Version: 4.0.5-4
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

Qpopper supports SSL, but installation in this case is a bit complicated
because you have to work out the openssl command line to generate a
(self-signed) certificate. The Qpopper installation could do this
automatically. I believe that the Debian package of one of the other
POP daemons, probably the UW one, does this so you could just copy
their code.

but if you reboot into a Debian supplied kernel and re-install mpg321

Bug#297841: exim4-config: Local rewrite stopped working after upgrade in sarge

2005-03-05 Thread Daniel Bonniot
Still, I think the following behaviour is also a common one: outside mail
sent by smarthost, local mail delivered in spool; no incomming mail. This
is typical with a dialup machine where users have their mailboxes outside
the system (on an IMAP server for instance). Does the mail sent by
smarthost; received via SMTP or fetchmail give this behaviour?

Yes, it does. It _allows_ incoming mail but does not require it. And
the SMTP daemon will only listen on 127.0.0.1 by default, i.e. the
local loopback interface.
  hth, cu andreas
Thanks a lot. I chose the mail sent by smarthost; received via SMTP or
fetchmail, and it indeed seems to be doing what I want.

I think there are two points to consider:
1) sarge upgrade. I'm afraid I'm only one who's going to be hit by this
change. Basically, when your mail box is on an outside server, I does seem
logical not to select received by SMTP or fetchmail but instead no local
mail. It looks like this cannot be fixed automatically (since for some people
keeping the same option is desired) but there really should be some big
warning about possibly needing to change one's setup. Do you plan to do so?

Which brings us to:
2) debconf. As said above, one can be confused by the current list of options.
I think the internet site idea is quite good: give a short description of
the type of host. Then after ; explain more technically what will happen in
that setup.
Would it make sense for the second line to start with dial-up; and the third
line with LAN; ?
There might be better terms, but this should give the idea to most people (in
particular, not to chose the 3rd if the smart host is not a local server).

Maybe there's another option involved (ignore selection?)

If it is not an option to get patched version of qt or klipper (I dont

Well, we may consider that if it's really demonstrated that it'd fix.

I do not know what I can do to demonstrate it to you but I'm not
dreaming. A bug exists.

Severity: important

When ssh'ing (inside screen) into a another host and doing a log of
stuff there which displays much stuff (like building gcc) gnome-terminal
uses much CPU to display the output. around 98% for time as the output
is done. With other terminals like xterm this CPU usage is nearly not
recognizable when doing the same tasks.

Bug#296193: #296193: amavis-stats: can not write output graph

2005-03-05 Thread Rene Konasz
Hello Jean-Michel!
Very fast reaction ;-), I think this really should be fixed in php /
php4-rrdtool, the actual path should be preserved as in all other internal
php functions that access files/paths and not reset to the root path / as it
happens with new php4 4.3.10-8 btw php4-rrdtool 1.04-10 in function
rrd_graph (maybe the new thread safety in php broke something), amavis-stats
worked great before and there is no cause not using relative paths for the
img subdirectory, so amavis-stats should not be changed. My patch was meant
as a quick interim workaround only (please also see #297643, unfortunately
no response yet) until the real cause gets fixed in php.

Best regards, René

Julien Louis schrieb:

Hi,
po4a is an utility to make the maintenance of manpages translations easier. For
more informations see po4a(7) manpage.
You just have to apply the attached patch to support po4a.
After that, when you modifiy the documentation in the perl script, you have to
generate a pod file in the man/ directory.
If you receive a new translation, you just have to put de xx.po in the man/po/
directory and add the associated entries in the po4a.cfg file like following:
xx:man/manpage.xx.pod add_xx:man/addenum_file.xx
where xx corresponds to the language code.
As I'm not speaking Spanish, the Spanish translation is not generated by
default, you should ask the Spanish translator to review the es.po and defuzzing
entries.

2005-03-05 Thread Thomas Arendsen Hein
* Bram Moolenaar [EMAIL PROTECTED] [20050305 12:36]:
If I have set [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] entering an
  Euro char via :digraph ee 164 doesn't work. Using Ctrl-V 1 6 4
works fine. If LC_CTYPE is de_DE, en_US or C, digraph for Euro char
works, too, even after using :language ctype [EMAIL PROTECTED] from
  inside vim.

I don't quite understand what the problem is. First of all, digraphs
are independent of the language used. It does depend on the 'encoding'.
When you use Unicode then the euro character is 0x20ac. Is your
 'encoding' set to utf-8 perhaps?

No, otherwise :dig aa 228 etc. wouldn't work, but they do work
fine.

Anyway, if you define your own digraph with :digraph ee 164 it should
work, there is nothing in Vim to stop it. Except perhaps if you change
 'encoding' afterwards.

I thought so, too, but I'm proven wrong.

The default digraph for this character is Cu (Currency symbol in latin1).

I know, but this isn't even defined if I start with
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (though I can re-define it without problems).

Maybe a glibc bug in isprint or something similar? But then it
wouldn't have worked with vim 6.1.18.

Regards,
Thomas

Bug#230756: nautilus: Should not change desktop settings (color, icons) when launched under a non-GNOME session)

That's a good idea; Karsten, would it be ok if launching nautilus from
the Debian menu would do what you want? (ie. not hijack the desktop)

Yes.

Upstream should *still* be fixed, however.

Peaced.

 Dear sylpeed maintainer,

A buffer overflow bug was found and fixed at 1.0.3.
This problem exists in almost all of the older version, so it affects
woody, sarge and sid. Please update sylpheed package.

See http://sylpheed.good-day.net/index.cgi.en and check its detail.

Thanks for reminding but I've already done it, just waiting for my
sponsor to upload the packages.
See http://sylpheed.mine.nu:9981/debian if you need updated packages.

Bug#297494: mount.crypt doesn't seem to work

I have just uploaded 0.9.22-3 which fixes an option error in
mount.crypt. This should also fix your error, but before closing
this bug again I wait for your feedback if it works ;)

Unfortunately, it doesn't. :( I think it is the same problem as
the first point in #298141. i.e.
- under 0.9.20, if I ran the command:
mount.crypt /dev/hda8 /home/hubert -o cipher=twofish,hash=sha512
(which is how mount would call it) it worked.
- under 0.9.22, that command doesn't work, but the command
mount.crypt -o cipher=twofish,hash=sha512 /dev/hda8 /home/hubert
  works

Unfortunately, I can't try Jörg's patch because it looks like the BTS
ate it.

Thanks

Bug#298141: /sbin/mount.crypt: mount.crypt has many errors

Hi Jörg,

You tagged bug #298141 with the patch tag, but I don't see any patch
attached to your message. I think it got eaten (or maybe you just
forgot to attach it). Can you re-send?
