Bug#382956: mozilla: Shipping secure Mozilla in Etch would require unreasonable maintainance

2006-08-29 Thread Alexander Sack - Debian Bugmail

Whatever, I have tons of archived email inside Mozilla, and you
need to be sure Mozilla will migrate properly to SeaMonkey before
 removing Mozilla.

Unless Etch get significantly delayed, I am not sure that you
will have time for testing everything properly. Will the French
version of SeaMonkey for PowerPC always migrate properly from Mozilla
while updating from Sarge or Etch? Probably, but I am not a gambler.

Just removing Mozilla from Etch without anything to migrate from
is a major NO-GO for many people like me. I hope it is obvious for
 everyone here.

I am actually running Etch, and if I just see the package
disappearing, or if I have any doubt about the safety to migrate
to SeaMonkey, I will prefer to move to Ubuntu or Slackintosh.

Maybe I worry too much for nothing, and that Mozilla 1.8 (SeaMonkey)
will allow migration without any problems, but I wanted to express my
concerns about it. Also, many user will never forgive you if you just
 blindly remove Mozilla.

Thanks for pointing out your concerns. I understand it ... and we are
working on it as much as possible. I would guess that migrating to
seamonkey should not cause any pain. You can of course help by testing
the package as soon as it becomes available.

Ah, nothing against intended behaviour. However, what is the point in redoing
the connect stuff on an already connected network (I really mean the same
entry)? If disconnecting is not intended, I would assume that simply
_nothing_ happens.

Bug#385137: %S doesnt parse to share name in log file

2006-08-29 Thread N VZ
Package: samba
Version: 3.0.22-1
Severity: important

[global]
log file = /var/log/samba/%S.log

as described in Chapter 12 of the Using Samba guide to log for each
service (share) simply creates /var/log/samba/%S.log litterally and
doesnt parse it as a variable.

It is also stated in Chapter 6 table 6-8 pf the Using Samba guide that the log file string Works with all variables.

which is directly inconsistant with Gerald Carter's reply to the post
Francis Strickland had made about this issue back in january on
lists.samba.org @
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2006-January/115979.html

its outlined in the Using Samba document both on samba.org and in the
samba-doc package in debian that this is suppose to work for creating
seperate logs for each share instead of for each client machine. This
should be considered a serious bug, but I have filed it as important
because it doesnt affect usability for all users. However the bug makes
the documentation invalid and for this reason it is every bit serious.

Bug#385136: kcemirror: installs invalid screensnap.exe on compaq aero 1520

2006-08-29 Thread Wouter Michiel Koolen-Wijkstra
Package: kcemirror
Version: 0.1.5-1
Severity: normal

When running kcemirror, screensnap.exe is installed on the pda, which is a
compaq aero 1500
mips r4000 running windows CE 2.11. The executable can not be executed however,
and the error
message is not informative. I managed to install screensnap 4.0 myself from the
cab file that
can be found in the installer at
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/developerone/devonescreensnap4setup.exe. I had to
choose the MIPS
pro version, hpc and ppc do not work. The cab file installation installs files
into Program
Files. I copied screensnap.exe from there to the Windows directory (where
kcemirror places
the executable) with no result. kcemirror outputs:
[CeGetSystemInfo:105] last_error = 0
[CeCreateProcess:37] last_error = 0
[CeCreateProcess:39] result = 1

Kind regards,

Wouter

This will be solved ... but not by thunderbird, but the locales
package itself. What issue are you referring to (your mail has not
hint on what issue you refer to)

Sorry, Alexander, reportbug was supposed to attach my original bug
report from /tmp but didn't: Whenever I upgrade and then re-start
thunderbird, it complains that the current locale does not correspond to
the current version of TB. We all know this is not true and can fix this
 by a simple

 # aptitude reinstall thunderbird-locale-de

but this is annoying. Please update both packages at the same time or
make thunderbird depend on the corresponding locale version right away.

The latest locale package should fix this ... it was a too tight
version restriction in install.rdf. I this still pops up with the next
upgrade, let me know.

If there are no problems, remember to let me know too, so I can close
this bug.

Bug#385139: disc-cover: Please add support for texlive

2006-08-29 Thread Yannick Roehlly
Package: disc-cover
Version: 1.5.4-3
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I'm currently migrating from tetex to texlive and I had to uninstall
disc-cover as it depends on tetex-bin, tetex-base and tetex-extra.

So I tried to rebuild the package doing the following:
- I dropped the tetex-bin and tetex-base dependencies as tetex-extra
brings them.
- I changed the tetex-extra dependency for
tetex-extra | texlive-latex-extra.

With theses changes, disc-cover can be installed on my computer and
is working.

I don't know if texlive-latex-extra is the correct minimal dependency,
that's why I cced the bug to the debian tex maintainers list (if I
was wrong doing this I apology).

Sincerely,

Yannick

In English, the beginning of a sentence is capitalized. Consider it to
be the program name, rather than the executable. If you can't tolerate
this, recast the sentence to avoid beginning with the program name.

I'm following the GNU coding standards: If a lower-case identifier
comes at the beginning of a sentence, don't capitalize it! Changing
the spelling makes it a different identifier.

In this usage, the term aa is not an identifier, nor a program
executable name. It is a package name. Look at, for example bacula.

It seems awkward because 'aa' is not pronouncable, which is why I
suggested recasting the sentence.

It's a bit like the refresh function in Windows. You can tell k-n-m to

Bug#369851: I beg to differ...

2006-08-29 Thread David Weinehall
Quoting from Shell Utilities/2.6.4 Arithmetic Expansion of SuSv3:

If the shell variable x contains a value that forms a valid integer
constant, then the arithmetic expansions $((x)) and $(($x)) shall
 return the same value.

I cannot seem to find any reasonable way to parse this other than that
$((x+1)) should be treated in the same way that $(($x+1)) would be.

Hi,
I just installed libmysqlclient15off und mysql-common from unstable

So most probably the problem was related to the ABI-incompatibility that
was fixed in 5.0.24-2.

Thanks for the help.

   start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --pidfile $PIDFILE --oknodo \

 Good version

 Code:

 nobody \
   --$DAEMON_OPTS  /dev/null || return 1

   return 0

What's the difference ?
If [ -f $PIDFILE ] is true it will return 2 and the following code won't
be executed. So it doesn't need the else.

Bug#385143: nautilus: does not display anything in ftp:// urls if the server sends CR LF

2006-08-29 Thread Eddy Petrişor
Package: nautilus
Version: 2.14.3-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I have tried to use Nautilus to connect to a network printer which
supports printing via several methods. Knowing that the printer will
print any ps document transfered to it via ftp, I opened the ftp url of
the printer, but nothing was displayed. It was supposed to display a
PORT1 folder in which .ps files can be dropped. Probably the reason is
the fact that the server sends CR LF instead of CR(?), since connecting
with mc's ftp embedded client or trying to open the url in firefox
displays the PORT1 folder, while in mc there are some weird errors which
are not harmful at all.

MC's Errors are:
- on initial connection: «Cannot parse: -LA not found^M»
- on entry in PORT1 folder: «Cannot parse: .^M» and «Cannot parse: ..^M»

There are already these files :

/etc/tremulous-server/maprotation.cfg

which should allow running the server out of the box.

Doesn't it work for you ?

With theses changes, disc-cover can be installed on my computer and

I don't know if texlive-latex-extra is the correct minimal dependency,
that's why I cced the bug to the debian tex maintainers list (if I
was wrong doing this I apology).

With the current disc-coverI find that it uses the following packages
(already with the respective texlive and tetex packages):

ifthen
texlive-latex-base, tetex-base
graphicx
texlive-latex-base, tetex-base
color
texlive-latex-base, tetex-base
multicol
texlive-latex-base, tetex-base
inputenc
texlive-latex-base, tetex-base

The first four are from $latex_global_packages, the last one the default
of $latex_user_packages.

So the minimal dependencies would be:

tetex-bin | texlive-base-bin
tetex-base | texlive-latex-base,

The reason is quite simple: Real live issues kept me away from those
packages I regarded not that important. Your request shows that
it has some importance and I hope to get a new package out in about
two weeks. It was on my agenda anyway.

Sorry for the lazyness

 Andreas.

PS: Because I stopped using ZMS personally it might be reasonable
to bother me from time to time with new upstream versions because
I stopped tracking upstream versions actively. The alternative
for me would be to orphan the package completely.

Bug#385146: trac: trac has an inaccurate dependency and can be installed but broken.

2006-08-29 Thread Mike Ashton
Package: trac
Version: 0.8.1-3sarge5
Severity: serious

As you can see below, trac depends on subversion, but this isn't quite
true. It depends on the particular version of libsvn0 that stable
subversion comes with. If you install a backport subversion,
libsvn_swig_py is no longer included in libsvn0, which causes trac to
fail. So the reason I'm raising a bug against trac for this, as well
mentioning this to backports, is dpkg didn't spot the problem because
trac's dependencies aren't strict enough - it doesn't just depend on
subversion (= 1.0.1), it depends explicitly on libsvn0 certainly less
than 1.3.2, and probably much less than that.

To reproduce this problem, simply install a backport subversion on a
stable system and then try to use trac-admin.

I hope that all made sense.

Cheers,
Mike.

[...]

I'm happy to be convinced otherwise about (not) converting the package
to multiple binaries. However, I don't see any significant benefit at
 this time.

If I understand your proposal correctly, you want to provide the .gpr
file and the source and .ali files in their proper places, but you would
still provide the object files in /usr/lib/ada/adalib/adacgi/*.o, right?

The pro of this proposal is reduced complexity, both for you and for
users (one package instead of two).

The con is a lack of consistency with other library packages; both in
the naming scheme for packages, and in that it would be impossible for
users to pass -ladacgi to the linker. Maybe you could mitigate that
with linker options in the project file. Also the lack of a shared
library means users have no option but to link statically. I think that
it would still be a good idea to at least compile adacgi with -g, per
general Debian policy.

I don't feel very strongly one way or another, because the small size of
adacgi excuses it for not being a honest-to-God shared library :)

Do any other distributions do this to adacgi?

No, but then again, AFAIK no other distribution carries adacgi;
not even Gentoo and not even FreeBSD :) so, Debian leads the way
once again :)

Bug#385147: When php4-mysql is enabled, php prints Illegal Instruction and terminates

2006-08-29 Thread Jamie Thompson
Package: php4-mysql
Version: 4:4.4.2-1.1
Severity: normal

When php4-mysql is enabled, php ceases to work and instead prints
Illegal Instruction and terminates. If I disable the extension in
php.ini, php works fine, abet without mysql functionality.

I've tried reinstalling, to no avail. Mysql seems to be running fine
going from it's cli client.

Bug#385122: reportbug does not recognize locale token in .reportbugrc

2006-08-29 Thread Chris Lawrence

Er, reportbug doesn't have a locale setting in the .reportbugrc file.
You need to reset your global locale settings in your environment so
that LC_ALL isn't overriding your LC_CTYPE setting (which doesn't seem
to be exported anyway).

A custom image could be built with the patched ppp-udeb package, as I
did when testing my changes in it, and you could test my (yet)
unofficial patch.

Tell me if you are interested (it can be scripted to the level that
you patch the ppp source than run a command which compiles the
package, then places the resulted ppp-udeb package in the image, then
rebuilds the iso).

Bug#385152: lcd4linux: Please remove debian/templates file if you don't use it

2006-08-29 Thread Thomas Huriaux
Package: lcd4linux
Severity: minor

Hi,

Your source package contains a debian/templates file, which you don't
use at all. As this would be a real Debconf abuse to display the note
(this should go in the README.Debian file), please remove any
debconf-related stuff from your source package (especially the templates
file), so that various infrastructure such as the i18n infrastructure
(which is how I found this problem) won't bug for this file.

Note that removing the templates file will also fix the following lintian
warning:
  W: lcd4linux source: not-using-po-debconf

Cheers,

Bug#385155: fsck.reiserfs can take a very long time to complete

2006-08-29 Thread Andrew Buckeridge
Package: reiserfsprogs
Version: 3.6.19-3

fsck.reiserfs built for Debian does not presume the -q option.
As -q is not supplied by the init script fsck will take a very long
time to complete on a serial console.

This is particularly significant when you have a serial console
that is limited to 38400 baud (such as a Cyclades TS or an ADDS
terminal).

Cleaning up output would help BIOSes that support console redirection
and IEEE 1275 firmware that supports serial consoles by default.

Btw, do you have a hint for me on how to have nautilus/pmount ask for
the luks passphrase with a graphical prompt?

Bug#385089: network-manager-kde: fails to use kwallet after boot

2006-08-29 Thread Hendrik Sattler
Am Dienstag 29 August 2006 12:40 schrieb Michael Biebl:
I can not reproduce this bug here. It works as expected, meaning that
after starting knetwormanager, it tries to open the wallet, kwallet
prompts me for the password, and after that k-n-m is able to retrieve
 the key.
I just a uploaded a new revision [1] which fixes some kwallet related
issues, e.g. it only access kwallet on demand and not directly on
startup. Let me know if this revision also fixes your problem.
If not, please create a new test account, so that you don't have any
possible side effect and try again.

I installed the new version and strange things happened:
* On the first tries, it could not find the PSK at all.

Then I created a testuser and added that user to groups plugdev and netdev.
However, that was not enough. I also had to add the user to group dialout
or a DBUS error appeared (startup from console) and no network devices were
visible. Most strange is that removing that user from group dialout did not
make that error reappear.

After that, it kind of worked except that it didn't use the kwallet at all. At
least that what it looks like because connecting to the network did not
succeed at all (wpa_cli showed some PSK errors). I added the testuser to all
other groups that my normal user has and suddenly, it worked and the PSK was
stored in the wallet.
Somewhat strange behaviour because again, removing all those previously added
groups (except plugdev and netdev) did not have any effect anymore.

Back to my own user, it still had the same problem. I probably got the clue,
then, to note that I have _two_ wallets: my standard one for this system and
a manually added old one from my old system. Knetworkmanager could not handle
that, probably, because removing the old, second one (that was alphabetically
before the standard one) solved the problem.
After that, adding the old one again did not confuse knetworkmanager anymore,
maybe the standard one was not first in list but now is.

Conclusion:
The wallet code in knetworkmanager needs to be more robust, it fails in quite
some situations.
Also, failure to connect to the DBUS is only visible in the konsole, no error
message pops up!
If wpasupplicant fails to use the PSK, network-manager tries on forever with
absolutely no status report that something failed :-(

And I leave out the errors that two running network-manager clients caused.

After all, it's beta level software.

Er, reportbug doesn't have a locale setting in the .reportbugrc file.

I don't remember putting it by hand on the .reportbugrc, that's for sure.
Therefore, I believe maybe it was inserted by reportbug itself the first
time it was run (some releases ago)?

Maybe locale existed as a work-around before?

You need to reset your global locale settings in your environment so
that LC_ALL isn't overriding your LC_CTYPE setting (which doesn't seem
to be exported anyway).

Anyway, this works for me. Thank you!

Bug#385162: util-vserver: starting vserver fails if config path contains symlinks

2006-08-29 Thread David Schmitt
Package: util-vserver
Version: 0.30.210-10
Severity: normal

Hi *!

It seems that /usr/sbin/vlimit dies when the path to the config
directory contains a symlink:

tom:/etc/vservers# ls -lad apt-cacher
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 44 Aug 29 13:48 apt-cacher -
/var/lib/vservers/_infra/_config/apt-cacher/
tom:/etc/vservers# vserver apt-cacher start
vlimit: fstat(/etc/vservers/apt-cacher/rlimits): Permission denied

The same config works, when bind-mounting the config into place.

/var/lib/vservers/_infra is on external storage which can be accessed by
a standby server in case of a failure, therefore I also need the config
on this volume.

See also http://irc.13thfloor.at/LOG/2006-06/LOG_2006-06-29.txt for a

The only log message I'm getting from ntpd is:

In /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server there is the ntp file with:

Perhaps the following line should be added:

^\w{3} [ :0-9]{11} [a-z0-9A-Z\-]+ ntpd\[[0-9]+\]: synchronized to
[0-9a-fA-F.:]+, stratum [0-9]+$

This covers both ip4 and ip6. Also - in response to the first bug, the . does
not have to be escaped if it's between brackets:

echo cd | egrep '[ab.]+'

outputs nothing.

the day before? i'm fairly certain the former will fix the problem,
though if that's not possible i don't know that the latter will fix
the problem without recompiling php4, which should happen as soon
as the apache packaging team fixes an unrelated bug.

My kde version is (for kdebase-kio-plugins) 4:3.5.4-2.

The device is correctly created by udev. Under gnome, the window pops up
with no problems. I tried with several brands of usb keys.
The use hal subsystem in kontrol-center is enabled (but grayed out,
 like enabled and not disableable).

pmount invoked on the device just works fine.

 Any idea ?

After further investigation it seems that adding myself to the plugdev
group in /etc/group works, but using the facility of
/etc/security/group.conf :

gdm;*;*;Al-2400;cdrom, audio, video, hal, plugdev, users, fuse,
scanner, floppy, console
login;*;*;Al-2400;cdrom, audio, video, hal, plugdev, users, fuse,
scanner, floppy, console
ssh;*;*;Al-2400;users, fuse

which yields correcly the plugdev and others groups in the terminal when
typing groups, does not work.

I presume that this is because of the slave structure of KDE.

I really would like to know what are the precise messages sent by KDE,
and by which user/group combination.

However, I am sorry to say that 377689 is not fixed, but the fault may
not be in hal anymore.

Or is the /etc/security/groups.conf not supported?

The reason is quite simple: Real live issues kept me away from those
packages I regarded not that important. Your request shows that
it has some importance and I hope to get a new package out in about
two weeks. It was on my agenda anyway.

 Sorry for the lazyness

  Andreas.

PS: Because I stopped using ZMS personally it might be reasonable
to bother me from time to time with new upstream versions because
I stopped tracking upstream versions actively. The alternative
for me would be to orphan the package completely.
I built a new debian package from zms 2.9.2, which was quite simple,
but I'm simply too unfamiliar with zope and its intances to make it
work on zope3.
Would be great if you could create a new package for zope3.
I wouldn't mind to help where I can.

Thanks, applied. Instead of keeping the old *64 files around, I simply
taught debian-cd to cope with either cdrom or cdrom64 for a while, so it
should keep on building smoothly.

Bug#385168: /etc/skel/.bashrc - lesspipe

2006-08-29 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Package: bash
Version: 3.1-5

Hi,

there's a bug in /etc/skel/.bashrc:

It calls the program lesspipe and evals it's output.

But the syntax of the environment commands that lesspipe spits out
depends on the SHELL environment variable.

Thus, if a user has a SHELL variable other than any sh dialect,
(e.g. tcsh), and runs bash, lesspipe issues csh-compatible commands
which are incompatible to sh. It fails to work and issues annoying
error messages.

replace

   eval $(lesspipe)

with

   eval $(env SHELL=/bin/sh lesspipe)

regards
Hadmut

Bug#385167: xfonts-bolkhov-75dpi: Breaks the Helvetica font on e.g. inkscape

2006-08-29 Thread Teemu Ikonen
Package: xfonts-bolkhov-75dpi
Version: 1.1.20001007-6
Severity: normal

When this package is installed, the Helvetica font (a very, very
common font in svg files) becomes broken, mostly showing whitespace,
not kerning at all etc. This happens in inkscape, but probably also in
other applications.

Since xfonts-bolkhov-75dpi is a russian font, breakage on latin script
is not really surprising, but could the name of the cyrillic helvetica
be changed to something else, so that this won't happen? I spent a
considerable amount of time trying to find out what's wrong with
inkscape.

Hi Sven!

You wrote:

/etc/init.d/procps is using which (located at /usr/bin/which) at a

That's not correct. Although /usr/bin/which exists, it's a symlink to
/bin/which, which _is_ available when /etc/init.d/procps is run

This causes the init-script to fail and leaves /etc/sysctl.conf
 unprocessed.

Also, I can't reproduce this here. I have /usr on a seperate filesystem
on all my machines, and procps runs fine on all of them.
Could you please give some more info on which problem you encountered,
exactly? Maybe your PATH wasn't set correctly or so?

If there isn't a TTY, PAM_TTY should probably be left unset.

Yes, I was self confused about the function of these variable, but the

the variable to :0 or :1, etc. The pam_access module themself
support these fake variables (see libpam-doc).

So I think there shouldn't be a problem if cupsd set the variable to
cups or cupsys or whatever.

I was told via Joey:
the /doc/manuals/debian-reference webpage has no index.html file, while
the package debian-reference has one - maybe someone with admins rights

Then without thinking too much, someone changed above URL ending

Sigh. Whoever touched file, please put it back or discuss with me how
to addres issues without causing other issues. This is also reported as
Bug#384832.

I thought I told bug reporter there is the reason why I did this
intentionally. If someone wants index.??.html, please make old link as
symlinks or so so old links will be OK. Also let's fix upstream CVS and
copy contents. The souce is version tracked with upstream CVS contents.
Anyway, let's talk how to go at this first, please.

Problem of changing DDP CVS only withou me knowing it has [posible

Then I copy all contents over Debian ones.

So the minimal dependencies would be:

   tetex-base | texlive-latex-base,

Thanks for the info, I will make this adjustment, deferring to your

Cool, i was not sure and didn't want to remove the old ones (actually, instead

Bug#385115: chromium-data: Unclear license for some files

2006-08-29 Thread Roberto Gordo Saez

severity 385115 grave
thanks

I'm sorry, but AFAIK, distributing illegal data should be release
critical. We are not talking about non-free data, we are talking about
ripped (or pirated, if you prefer), undistributable data, which is
much worse. Please read below.

On 8/29/06, Steve Langasek [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

OK, my English is very bad, but I am under the impression that you
haven't read my message nor made any attempt to understand it. Yes, I
know the copyright file claims that files came from
http://www.reptilelabour.com/software/chromium/, but my point is that
the same page you cited claims that some files come from the urls that
I've mentioned on my email. This is a quotation taken from about page:

Music Loops and raw Sound Effects from:
   Partners in Rhyme
   FindSounds.com

terms of the Artistic License. If you determine that *specific* files are
covered by a different copyright than the one claimed in debian/copyright,

The copyright does not belong to the author of the program. He can't
publish them under the artistic license. Look at the strings of some
files:

strings /usr/share/games/chromium/wav/power.wav | grep Copyright
Copyright (C) 1995 Corel Corporation Limited. All Rights Reserved

And this is a quote from one on the pages the files were downloaded
(findsounds.com):

When you perform a search using FindSounds.com or the WebPalette
feature of FindSounds Palette, you obtain links to audio files hosted
by Web sites throughout the world. The sounds in these audio files may
be copyrighted and their use governed by national and international
copyright laws. We do not offer advice on the fair use of these
files.

So they are downloaded from unkown places.

or under a license other than the Artistic License, please re-raise the
severity. Otherwise, simple second-guessing of the statements in the
copyright file doesn't seem to be a reason for a release-critical bug.

I don't need to prove anything. It is only your assumption that the
files are under the artistic license, because this is not what the
author of the program claims. Under this conditions you should verify
that they are under the Artistic license, instead of me that they are
not.

Saying that the files are free because they are downloaded from the
same page as the program is not enough, because upstream recognizes
that he has not made some of them. It should be clarified by upstream
files made by him and files that are not.

I also want etch to be released in time, but allowing this is
unacceptable to me. Do you really think it is OK to release the
package in this state?

Bug#377915: Can't change sample rate

2006-08-29 Thread Daniel James

I reported this to the ALSA team - Takashi Iwai suggested:

Check your /proc/asound/card0/codec97#0/ac97#0-0 file, whether it
contains VRA in Extended ID section. If not, it's 48k-only codec.

This is the case with both the test systems showing the problem here,
which both have AC97 on-board sound cards. If extra sound interfaces are
plugged in (PCI card, USB interface) then these don't have the problem.

So this behaviour is not a bug in Debian, it is a limitation of certain
sound hardware that can only do 48kHz sampling. There may be a
work-around using ALSA's plug layer for software resampling, but this is
unlikely to give good JACK performance.

Cheers!

Daniel

Package: libcaca
Version: 0.99.beta3-1
Severity: normal

libcaca 0.9-6 (and, presumably, earlier versions) contained a
CACA_DITHERING_NONE constant. This constant, and seeminly others, are missing
from version 0.99.beta3-1 of the package. This causes GStreamer to fail to
build against this version of libcaca.

If this is a deliberate API change by upstream, then either both versions of
the API should be supported by Debian, or all packages that build against
libcaca[0] will have to be ported to the new API.

I've discussed with upstream, and found this is purely intentional,
because of some buggy hardware.

A Microsoft developer explains the issue:

Bug#385144: [Pkg-zope-developers] Bug#385144: zope-zms: New upstream version available for some time

I built a new debian package from zms 2.9.2, which was quite simple,

Would be great if you could create a new package for zope3.

zope3 is a complete re-write of Zope 2 with totally different
architecture and concepts. So, right now, it is almost impossible to
write a non-trivial extension that works on both.

Bug#385175: debian-installer: [powerpc] let's move powerpc d-i into the initramfs era ...

2006-08-29 Thread Sven Luther
Package: debian-installer
Severity: normal
Tags: patch d-i

Well, i believe there is no reason for any of the 2.6 arches to still use
cramfs, not sure though. In any case, powerpc can handle initramfs just fine
(and indeed, it is used by initramfs-tools for the real ramdisk), and i
believe ubuntu also produces initramfs for their installer incarnation on
powerpc.

So, the attached patch uses an initramfs for all powerpc subarches. Tested on
IBM pSeries p505.
