This was immediately followed by a string of reports about hdc (CD/DVD) lost
interrupt, and eventually a hint to try rebooting with the irqpoll option.

Tried another installation using

expert irqpoll

no problems, went straight through and re-booted OK. Should irqpoll be
included in the standard installation proceedure?

I have no further access to the laptop, this report was submitted afterwards.

Bug#477694: FTBFS: ext/threads/t/stress_re.t fails sporadically on sparc

Could you build the latest security update (that will be -7etch3,
available in a coupleo f hours) in an etch chroot and upload it?

It's not a regression in the security update and it's not been reported
before, so this appears to be a rather benign bug.

Unfortunately my sparc box is physically in a quite unsecure place, so
I don't think I can sign the result.

Maybe somebody else on debian-sparc could help?

Another alternative is to build it with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=x-perl-notest,
I guess.

keep in mind that the man page of update-pciids and its actual behaviour

lspci prefers pci.ids.gz.

I'll try to update the man page. Your patch is welcome. :)

In version 3.0.0-2, I have a brand new update-pciids script.
I'm still testing that new version.

Bug#477989: irssi-plugin-xmpp ignores messages without a 'type' attribute

2008-04-26 Thread Thomas Frauendorfer

Package: irssi-plugin-xmpp
Version: 0.13+cvs20080121-1
Severity: normal

irssi-plugin-xmpp ignores messages, if they don't contain a 'type'
attribute.

rfc3921 states in 2.1.1. 'Types of Message':
if an application receives a message with no 'type' attribute or the
application does not understand the value of the 'type' attribute
provided, it MUST consider the message to be of type normal

a message arrives as expected, if type=normal is set.

Bug#477976: elinks: bashism in debian/rules

2008-04-26 Thread Y Giridhar Appaji Nag
# Bcc: control
severity 477976 minor
tags 477976 + wontfix
thanks

Hi Raphael,

On 08/04/25 20:43 -0500, Raphael Geissert said ...
While checking for bashisms in debian/rules with checkbashisms (from
the 'devscripts' package) I've found your package making use of a bashism.

 checkbashisms' output:
possible bashism in elinks/debian/rules line 227 (brace expansion):
  rm -f $(ORIG_DIR)/{po/*.gmo,config.log,config.status,features.log}
possible bashism in elinks/debian/rules line 228 (brace expansion):
  rm -rf $(ORIG_DIR)/{debian,po/.deps}

These lines are in the get-orig-source stanza of debian/rules and not usually
used by people. I also use wget in there which is not in Build-Depends-Indep.
Someone wanting to do get-orig-source should look at it and install all the
necessary dependencies.

Hence I am marking this as minor and wontfix. I will close this bug after I
make a new upstream release (in which upstream would have themselves removed
those config.* etc. files -- which they already did in the development tree).

Bug#477990: Remove non-conflicting requirement in optional; relax dependencies

2008-04-26 Thread Don Armstrong
Package: debian-policy
Version: 3.7.3.0
Severity: wishlist
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
UserTags: discussion
Tag: patch

The requirement of optional packages not to conflict with eachother
and not to depend on essential packages are outdated, and appear to
stem from a time where someone would actually want to install all of
optional.

As such, I suggest that this requirement be removed, and only the
meaning of optional packages that you'd want without specialized
requirements kept. The attached patch as an initiation point for
discussion acheives this.

Bug#477991: libasound2: very high CPU usage

2008-04-26 Thread Peter De Wachter
Package: libasound2
Version: 1.0.16-1
Severity: important

With libasound2 1.0.16 many music players (e.g. mpg123-alsa, mpg321,
ogg123) take a huge amount of CPU to play music.

Playing a short song with mpg321, I get results like:
real 2m32.276s
user 0m25.310s
sys 0m47.259s

With libasound 1.0.15, it looks much more reasonable:
real 2m32.188s
user 0m2.212s
sys 0m0.108s

If there's anything I can do to help debug this, please ask.

Bug#477989: irssi-plugin-xmpp ignores messages without a 'type' attribute

2008-04-26 Thread Thomas Frauendorfer
The Bug is easy to fix. Either one off the two patches fixes it.

handle_message_without_type.diff only fixes the problem I reported,
while handle_all_unknown_types_as_normal.diff fixes the code, so that
it complies with the rfc section I mentioned before

Mhmh ok.

Afaict, it's the agent responsibility to make sure user can enter the

Agreed. So seahorse should recommend pinentry-gtk2. But I think it is
the responsibility of the application to make sure the agent will be
 called when needed.

Evo shouldn't require the agent running. If it is (detected via the
use-agent and GPG_AGENT_INFO), fine, use it. It not, fallback.

if I unset GPG_AGENT_INFO and then launch evolution, it won't ask me for
a password when trying to sign a message and fails the same way as

_That_ is weird. Afaik it should fallback to the integrated one. I'll
try to investigate and report back.

Bug#461760: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: Synaptics touchpad completely stops working under gdm, xdm, kdm ... and X (gnome, openbox, kde...)

2008-04-26 Thread David Paleino
On Tue, 22 Apr 2008 20:55:07 +0200, Julien Cristau wrote:

 Hi,

Hi,

you reported a problem with the synaptics driver not reporting any
 events for your touchpad.

Well, not detecting the touchpad at all would have been a better
description ;)

Can you attach the contents of /proc/bus/input/devices to this bug?

Sure, but I can anticipate that the touchpad isn't listed in that file.

Also, please test with the packages from testing (you would need to
downgrade your video driver, input drivers and xserver-xorg-core), and
if that works please attach the Xorg log.

This is the command I gave:

# apt-get install \
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics=0.14.7~git20070517-2 \
xserver-xorg-core=2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-12 \
xserver-xorg=1:7.2-5 \
xserver-xorg-video-intel=2:2.1.0-2 \
xserver-xorg-input-kbd=1:1.2.0-1+1.2.1 \
xserver-xorg-input-mouse=1:1.2.2-1 \
xserver-xorg-input-evdev=1:1.1.5-3

The information so far in this bug only shows that a previous version of
synaptics couldn't load with xserver 1.4 due to unresolved symbols,
but nothing showing the driver works on your systems, unless I've missed
 something.

The driver worked, as reported in the other bug report (with the same title),
some upgrades ago. I didn't report this previously, because I hoped it
would've been solved in the meanwhile.

I can't make the touchpad working now, even with the versions reported above. I
suspect it's something udev(?)-related, or, however, with hardware detection. :(

Regards,
David

Ah, ok. I though the hardware damage was just theoretical. If it's
real, a warning would be appropriate IMO.

Believe me, it's not :) One of these days, you too will have to jump
on the power button/plug at the rear of your scanner while at the same
 time shouting WTF? :)

:-) In that case, while I still think this I accept window should
disappear, I think a warning window would be a good idea. Like in
xvidtune, a warning that shows up every time the program is started.
Perhaps it should be possible to not show this again, or something,
but by default it should.

The big difference between those is that the I accept only functions
to protect the author (and fails, but never mind that), while the
warning protects the user. The latter is very acceptable; the former is
not IMO. The whole point of free software is that we can remove
annoying features.

So what is the issue exactly? That he might be liable if the user
didn't accept the license? Wouldn't that also be true for the rest of
  the GPL'd software in Debian?

It is, indeed. The NO WARRANTY clause of the GPL is not valid in a
number of countries. The GPL may be valid in full in the USA (though
it has not been proven to date), but it for sure isn't pretty much
 anywhere else.

But does any legislation force a software provider to provide warrenty
by default? I would expect that, assuming good faith, the default is
the same as when I give you something as a friend (as long as I don't
ask money. If I do, it's good to be explicit about warrenty, I
suppose).

But maybe I shouldn't assume too much about sanity of legislation...

accepting its license. In this case, the clickthrough makes it clear
that the user accepted the license and is now bound by its terms.

How does that make a difference? The warrenty disclaimer is a notice,
not something the user accepts (AFAIK). It just informs the user that
there is no warrenty. I don't see the point in explicitly accepting
that. If a user wants warrenty, they should get upstream (or whoever is
providing it) accept that they are providing it, not the other way
around. But IANAL, and I could be wrong on this.

It's the same when you click I accept after reading (erm) an EULA
while installing whatever proprietary crap (like, err, a SUN JDK for
 instance).

Ok, but that is because the license says you need to accept it before
you are allowed to use the software. I'm not sure if they can actually
require that, but even if they can, the GPL explicitly mentions that no
acceptance is required to use the software. And it says that adding
extra terms results in an undistributable piece of software. So if the
warning really is a requirement (and I don't think it legally is, it's
just a request by upstream that Debian keeps it), then the software
can't be distributed at all.

I fully agree. And I think these relationships are important. But if
upstream is asking us to do things which we, as Debian, agree are not
the way to go, then IMO we should do things our way. It's preferrable

I agree when it comes to things like license issues (cdrecord, ion3,
mozilla) or equally important things. But this? Come on.

I think it is one big benefit of Debian that the users aren't harassed
with legal crap. Setting a precedent of allowing authors to insert it
into Debian has the potential of making Debian *very much* worse IMO.
If every program would start doing this, I would seriously consider
forking the distribution.

Anyway, I am amazed at the attention this clickthrough is getting.

I think it has to do with what I wrote about how I feel about legal
stuff: I want to avoid it whenever possible. With Debian, I can do that
(as a user) without getting in trouble.

You're a FLOSS developer and moreover a Debian Developer. You cannot
avoid legal stuff, not one second.

As a user, I can. When I need to install stuff on a Windows machine for
other people (I don't have any :-) ), I read the license. When I
install a Debian package, I don't. My sources.list only contains main,
and so I just know that things are good. IMO this is actually a very
big benefit of Debian. The feeling that you can trust the system, that
you don't have to read a license before installing something and still
knowing that you're not giving up your privacy, for example.

Sure I'm dealing with legal things all the time as a developer. But not
as a Debian user. And that's very, very nice.

That's unfortunate, but that's how it is today. (and it sucks, yes)

This reminds me of someone who said With software, you have the dilemma
between following the law and being nice to people by sharing. That's
true for him, because he uses non-free crap. But it isn't for me.

In the same way, legal stuff can't be avoided is true for many people,
but not for Debian users (as long as they are in that role).

I just unset'ed GPG_AGENT_INFO and run evolution again.

Hello, first I'm not 100% sure which package this belong to
so apologies if this is a metacity issue or a gnome-keyring
issue.

I had just restarted my dbus system daemon and I clicked on
the nm-applet icon to see the list of networks at the same
time as the keyring passphrase dialogue appeared (it had
just noticed my WLAN and needed to unlock the passphrase)

I'm now stuck in a situation where it's not clear whether
the passphrase dialogue or the context menu have focus, but
neither respond to keyboard or mouse input. My x session is
effectively locked.

Bug#477999: screen script startx checks for XFCFG variable in wrong way.

this code is wrong. it adds -config without anything behind it, if XFCFG is
unset. thus i get a X calling line like this:

X -query 192.168.1.1 -config -terminate vt11 :10.0

obviously either -config must be gone or the filename of a configfile has to
be passed.

this code would probably work better:

else

Hi there,
I seem to have similar problem opened as bug #477175.

Can you send the output of pvs command to the bug report?

I suspect that you have an LVM PV that is not yet assigned to an LV.
The output of pvs, vgs, and lvs commands might help debug it.

If we do find these are related I will merge the bugs.

Many thanks.

 Hi!

Please find attached a patch to fix this bug. The solution is to just
use the right Python version as given by pyversions -d.
First of all, thanks!
But I am solving some other minor fixes for this packages, so I just didn't
look for an Sponsor who could upload this package for me.

Seems to be in ready state at end of next week, maybe earlier :)

I've already done that.

If it works, we should close the bug, IMO.

It worked, though previously I had followed your advice fixing the
problem by hand, dunno then if this actually solves the problem.

Hi Ivan,

the user manual is a good starting point for all customization issues,
e.g.:

zxpdf /usr/share/doc/dblatex/manual.pdf.gz

And you will find several customization mails in the mailing list
archives of dblatex-users:

http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_name=dblatex-users

Regarding the Debian package, I still consider omitting the internal
TEXINPUTS setting with the next release, together with this change I
would close the bug, if you agree.

Bug#478005: findutils: description of -perm /mode in man page fails to take into account functionality change

2008-04-26 Thread Drake Wilson
Package: findutils
Version: 4.4.0-2
Severity: minor

From find(1), regarding the -perm /mode option: If no permission bits
in mode are set, this test currently matches no files. However, it
will soon be changed to match any file (the idea is to be more
consistent with the behaviour of -perm -000).

That doesn't seem to be true anymore; the change has already been
made. I believe https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/index.php?14748 has
information regarding that. The man page doesn't seem to have been
updated.

(Never mind that this behavior is not, in fact, more consistent from a
mathematical perspective. But oh well.)

Bug#478006: update-grub ommits /boot/ from kernel and initrd pathes after update to 0.97-36

2008-04-26 Thread Juergen Kosel
Package: grub
Version: 0.97-36
Severity: normal

Hello,

after the update of grub from 0.97-32 to 0.97-36,
it ommits on one of my computers the base path /boot/ from the kernel entries.
So it comes to this entry:

title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.24-1-486
root(hd0,3)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.24-1-486 root=/dev/hda9 ro pci=biosirq acpi=force
panic=5
initrd /initrd.img-2.6.24-1-486

instead of

title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.24-1-486
root(hd0,3)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-1-486 root=/dev/hda9 ro pci=biosirq
acpi=force panic=5
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-1-486

The point is, that on this machine /boot is a symlink to fullyfy
the restrictions of the old BIOS and the partition layout:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 18. Aug 2007 /boot - /opt/boot/

and /opt is the mount point of a partition below zylinder 1024.

Greetings
Juergen

Bug#478004: grub-probe finds problematic partition device

2008-04-26 Thread Lupe Christoph
Package: grub
Version: 0.97-36
Severity: important

Setup:

Two different *real* *hardware* RAID controllers as /dev/sda and
/dev/sdb. /boot is on /dev/scsi/host1/bus0/target2/lun0/part1.

This is found by grub-probe -t device /boot as
/dev/scsi/sdh1-f7ceb000c0i2l0p1. The problem is that grub generates a
device.map file likes this:
(fd0) /dev/fd0
(hd0) /dev/sda
(hd1) /dev/sdb

So it does not understand where /boot is when update-grub is run:
Searching for GRUB installation directory ... found: /boot/grub
grub-probe: error: Cannot find a GRUB drive for
/dev/scsi/sdh1-f7ceb000c0i2l0p1. Check your device.map.

To make things more complicated, there is no
/dev/scsi/sdh1-f7ceb000c0i2l0. The device entries in /dev/scsi are:
brw-rw 1 root disk 8, 0 2008-04-10 15:49 /dev/scsi/sdh0-0c0i0l0

I'm afraid, I don't understand too well how these entries are created by
udev. And why there is

Because this is an interaction of udev and GRUB, I'm not completely sure
I should file this against GRUB. I choose to, because I think that
grub-probe could just as well return /dev/sdb1 and be done...

Bug#477997: Acknowledgement (network-manager: race between nm-applet context menu and keyring prompt)

2008-04-26 Thread Jon Dowland
I switched to a VT to type that bug report. On switching back I noticed
that the nm-applet context window was not redrawn, suggesting it was
waiting on a child process. I killed the gnome-keyring-ask process (ppid
1, interestingly) and regained control of my X session.

I had to re-instruct nm-applet to connect to the VLAN, it seemed to
treat the death of the -ask program as wpa key supplied rather than
could not unlock keyring.

It is best to use the dak-suite with a single base directory and not to

Great!

I'm not sure what you mean by both for clear text and encrypted. Would
you like to test preseeding grub-installer/password and
 grub-installer/password-again?

Yes. :)

Sometimes, people prefer to have a preseeding file with password in
cleartext so they can more easily remember them…

Bug#478010: ffmpeg-free: Please add a build-option to just build internal encoders

2008-04-26 Thread Sjoerd Simons
Package: ffmpeg-free
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

To be able to use video in some voip application i usually recompile an
unstripped ffmpeg on my own system (using the nice get-orig-source rules).
But i really want to minimize my non-vanilla debian pacakges to a minimum. So
i just want the encoders ffmpeg ships itself, not the ones debian on libs not
in debian at all. Unfortunately DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=risky requires the external
libraries. So to be able do this i have to hack up the rules file a bit.

It would rock if would be some set of DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS to only enable
internal
risky stuff, so i could do this without needing to do hacks in debian/ at all
  :)

Bug#418402: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the jove package

2008-04-26 Thread Christian Perrier
Dear maintainer of jove and Debian translators,

Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the jove Debian
package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
update in the BTS.

I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload
for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization
bug as well as all other pending translations.

The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in two
weeks, so I will proceed with the NMU.

The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail.

The package is currently translated to:
cs de es fi fr ja nl pt pt_BR ru sv vi

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: vi

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations
for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report
against the jove package so I can incorporate them in the build.

The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Tuesday, May 06,
2008. If you
are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS.

The POT file is attached to this mail.

If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU
and send him/her all updates I receive.

Otherwise the following will happen (or already has):

Thursday, April 10, 2008 : send the first intent to NMU notice to
 the package maintainer.
Saturday, April 26, 2008 : send this notice
Tuesday, May 06, 2008 : deadline for receiving translation updates
Wednesday, May 07, 2008 : build the package and upload it to
DELAYED/2-day
send the NMU patch to the BTS
Friday, May 09, 2008 : NMU uploaded to incoming

Thanks for your efforts and time.

Bug#478011: Please describe what are double arrays

2008-04-26 Thread Enrico Zini
Package: darts
Version: 0.32-1
Severity: minor

Hello,

thank you for packaging darts.

Reading the description, it is difficult for me to understand what the
library actually implements. Following the link brings me to a page in
Japanese, that I cannot read.

It would be useful, I think, if the description had a line or two about
what are double arrays. Googling for it mostly gave results about
java's DoubleArray, which is an array of doubles.

I understand that in this case the double array is some sort of trie
structure, so I could imagine having something along these lines in the
description:

Double arrays are a data structure to index $WHAT, similar to
$OTHERSTRUCTURE. They provide O($SOMETHING) operations for $THIS and
O($SOMETHINGELSE) operations for $THAT, at the cost of a larger usage
  of $RESOURCE.

Cheers,

Enrico

Bug#478013: libxul-dev should depend on libgtk2.0-dev

2008-04-26 Thread Carlos Martín Nieto
Package: libxul-dev
Version: 1.8.1.14-2

 The package libxul-dev includes the
file /usr/include/xulrunner/gtkembedmoz/gtkmozembed.h which #include's
gtk/gtk.h, but it may not be installed, as libxul-dev doesn't depend
on the package that provides that file (libgtk2.0-dev).
As it is now, packages which depend on libxul-dev need to know they
have to depend on libgtk2.0-dev even though they never use the header
files themselves.

right now, so Blender would definitely benefit from using an external
version.

Bug#478014: bts: Does not CC maintainer of reassigned package

2008-04-26 Thread Mark Brown
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.9.6
Severity: important

In bug #477930 a bug was reassigned with a fairly long explanation by
the reassigner. Unfortunately the BTS does not send the reassigned
maintainer a complete copy of the mail doing the reassignment so all
that reached me was:

  # Automatically generated email from bts, devscripts version 2.9.6
  reassign 477930 scons 0.98.0-1
Bug#477930: kio-locate: FTBFS: does not find Qt/KDE includes
Bug reassigned from package `kio-locate' to `scons'.

The bts command really ought to add a CC to the maintainer, at least
until the BTS is changed to send more information.

Bug#478017: mayavi2 crashes instantly on startup

2008-04-26 Thread abli
Package: mayavi2
Version: 2.1.1-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

A few days ago mayavi2 worked fine. Now, however, running
$ mayavi2
crashes instantly: the gui window appears, but right after
that gnome's bug buddy appears. The not-too-informative
crash output is attached.

This might be related to the fact that I upgraded
(with 'aptitude safe-upgrade') recently.

Bug#478016: shorewall-common: please depend on 'bash | dash' instead of 'dash'

2008-04-26 Thread Kevin Baradon
Package: shorewall-common
Version: 4.0.10-1
Severity: minor

shorewall-common and shorewall-shell both depend on dash because of bashisms in
scripts.

dash is not installed on my system. I use bash. With my understanding of the
problem, bash would work well with shorewall.
Or I'm missing something else.

Please make shorewall-* packages depend on 'bash | dash'.

Bug#478013: libxul-dev should depend on libgtk2.0-dev

On Sat, Apr 26, 2008 at 12:08:32PM +0200, Carlos Martín Nieto wrote:

  The package libxul-dev includes the
 file /usr/include/xulrunner/gtkembedmoz/gtkmozembed.h which #include's
gtk/gtk.h, but it may not be installed, as libxul-dev doesn't depend
on the package that provides that file (libgtk2.0-dev).
As it is now, packages which depend on libxul-dev need to know they
have to depend on libgtk2.0-dev even though they never use the header
 files themselves.

Actually, if they use the /usr/include/xulrunner/gtkembedmoz/gtkmozembed.h
header, they must already build-depend on libgtk2.0-dev themselves
because you cant use the gtkmozembed API without using the gtk API
yourself (you at least need to run the gtk main loop).

OTOH, the gtkmozembed API is not mandatory and not the sole purpose of
the libxul-dev package.

The most I could do would be to add a recommends, and that would change
nothing for buildds.

Mike

I enabled FSP support (see attached patch) but I am not able to browse any of
the sites listed at http://fsp.sourceforge.net/servers.html. I am able to
connect to a few and ELinks says OK but that is about it, I can't see any

Is this bug for the version of ELinks in experimental (0.12) only?

irqpoll really slow down the system and it would be a loss to include it
in the default command-line. However, it is not currently documented in
the help screen alongside other special boot parameters for hardware
work-arounds.

It might worth it to mention it there.

Bug#477960: manpages-tr: FTBFS: seems to take a very long time to build

2008-04-26 Thread Murat Demirten
Hi Lucas,

I think xml2man needs to tr_TR.UTF-8 locale to run properly. I'll contact to
package author. Normally this is an architecture independent package and
contains only man pages.

But, package author uses a special build process and man pages compiled from
xml sources, xml2man.c = xml2man required only generating man pages.

I wrote about this problem to package author.

 Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on

I killed the first xml2man instance (the one for apropos.1) after 30

Bug#478007: Please enable FSP support in elinks

2008-04-26 Thread أحمد المحمودي
Hello,

Actually I never tried FSP support with 0.11.x, I only tried it with
0.12 and it worked, I just assumed that it will work with 0.11.x
  similarly.

Anyways, please try it in 0.12 if you still don't see directory
listing, then there must be another problem.

the sites listed at http://fsp.sourceforge.net/servers.html. I am able to

 files or directories listed there.

Is this bug for the version of ELinks in experimental (0.12) only?

Bug#424905: debian : sdlmame

2008-04-26 Thread Philippe Coval
Hi,

Quoting : http://bugs.debian.org/424905
I have packed a SDLMAME version for Debian (Etch/Lenny) from up to date

great ! , if you're motivated to upload it to debian
please retitle the bug to ITP

Then double check you debian/* files
and try to merge what cesare flaco (cc:) did before
 (watch file, getorig etc)

Here are links to ubuntu works published in hardy :
  * http://packages.ubuntu.com/source/sdlmame

If it helps, I also connected this bug to ubuntu tracker
  * https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+bug/135879

Also if time miss, just tell us, someone (like me) may do the final steps

FYI, I started to merge yours and ubuntu patches, and build a 0.124.3 debian
package
fell free to reuse it again:

  * http://rzr.online.fr/q/mame

I'll make deeper tests

Regards

Bug#478019: zsh: Should handle non-breaking space as word separator

2008-04-26 Thread Samuel Thibault
Package: zsh
Version: 4.3.6-1
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

On a french keyboard, '|' is typed by using alt-gr, and the non-breaking
space is often typed by using alt-gr space. That often leads to this:

€ echo a | grep a
zsh: command not found:  grep

Because zsh looks for a  grep command, with leading non-breaking space
because my thumb remained a bit too long on the alt-gr key.

This doesn't happen with bash, because bash treats non-breaking space as
a word separator. Could zsh do the same? (currently, I have defined
alias  grep=grep
alias  vi=vi
...)

Bug#477478: AXFR record not found

2008-04-26 Thread Thomas Seyrat
Could you elaborate on the bug description? Is it the wording you
disagree with?
AXFR, as far as I understand, is a transport, not a record type.
host seems to request AXFR records...

AXFR is a transaction which is initiated by the client, which sends a
particular type of query (opcode = 252)

I agree with the fact that record might not be the best term to
designate the answer to an AXFR query, but this is homogeneous with
the other kinds of queries, don't you think?

I'm not sure I'm fully getting what you mean...

Bug#478022: libnet-ldap-perl: Fix SASL/GSSAPI behaviour when talking to round-robin server

2008-04-26 Thread Dominic Hargreaves
Package: libnet-ldap-perl
Version: 1:0.34-1.1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch upstream

https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=35263
details a bug which renders Net::LDAP unusable when using GSSAPI
authentication to a round-robin (set of) LDAP servers. It includes a
patch which has been accepted by upstream but not yet released as a new
version.

This bug report is partly a placeholder, since it might be worth waiting
to see if upstream release a new version soon. However it would be good
if this bug was fixed in lenny, even if a new upstream release doesn't
happen by then.

Thanks,
Dominic.

At least lvm tries to activate the vg residing on the original devices,
although the luns are already linked by multipath. So what would happen
now, if the vg which needs to be activated resides on one of the luns,
and so also resides on the multipath dm device?
