Hi,

the right way to do this for packages that replace modules from
mainline, is to divert them. look at latest ipw2100 and ipw2200 packages
(snasphot.dn or morgque) where i was doing exactely that.

Regards,
Daniel

Bug#523548: easyspice: Dependency on xterm

2009-04-11 Thread Gudjon I. Gudjonsson
Hi
I think there is nothing special about xterm, any would do the trick I
guess. If you find some clever way to change the command in the menu file:
?package(easyspice):needs=X11 \
section=Applications/Science/Electronics \
title=easy_spice \
command=/usr/bin/xterm -iconic -n $(HOME)
easy_spice_log -e /usr/bin/easy_spice

then I am happy to change this.

Hi,

When I use meld to diff/merge two files and I am modifying the file in
the right pane, while the top of the file is displayed, the cursor is
at the end of the file forcing me to first scroll up. This is not very
usable and particularly painful if I have a lot of files to merge.

Please reposition the cursor to where the first diff is detected.

Thanks,

Bug#523572: meld: CTRL+D and CTRL+E don't position the cursor

Version: 1.2.1-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

When I use CTRL+D or CTRL+E to scroll up and down in the right pane
while diffing files with meld, the cursor remains where it originally
was and doesn't move to where the diff is.

If I am resolving conflicts in a repository and there is a large number
of those, it is very difficult to scroll to the conflict markers using
just the keyboard. This forces me to use the mouse.

It would be good to re-position the cursor to where the diff is (and
hence to where the conflict markers are) during Up/Down and CTRL+D or
CTRL+E.

Cheers,

Bug#520482: postgrey: General update after the debconf review process

2009-04-11 Thread Christian Perrier
Dear Debian maintainer,

On Friday, March 06, 2009, I sent you a notification about the beginning of a
review
action on debconf templates for postgrey.

Then, I sent you a bug report with rewritten templates and announcing
the beginning of the second phase of this action: call for translation
updates.

Translators have been working hard and here is now the result of their efforts.

Please consider using it EVEN if you committed files to your
development tree as long as they were reported.

The attached tarball contains:

- debian/changelog with the list of changes
- debian/control with rewrites of packages' descriptions
- debian/templates with all the rewritten templates file(s)
- debian/po/*.po with all PO files (existing ones and new ones)

As said, please use *at least* the PO files as provided here,
preferrably over those sent by translators in their bug reports. All
of them have been checked and reformatted. In some cases, formatting
errors have been corrected.

The patch.rfr file contains a patch for the templates and control
file(s) alone.

Please note that this patch applies to the templates and control
file(s) of your package as of Friday, March 06, 2009. If your package was
updated
in the meantime, I may have updated my reference copybut I also
may have missed that. This is indeed why I suggested you do not
modified such files while the review process was running,
remember..:-)

It is now safe to upload a new package version with these changes.

Please notify me of your intents with regards to this.

There is of course no hurry to update your package but feel free to
contact me in case you would need sponsoring or any other action to
fix this.

Bug#523573: clamav: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review

2009-04-11 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: clamav
Version: N/A
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Dear Debian maintainer,

On Thursday, March 26, 2009, I notified you of the beginning of a review process
concerning debconf templates for clamav.

The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates,
and the proposed changes are attached to this bug report.

Please review the suggested changes, and if you have any
objections, let me know in the next 3 days.

However, please try to avoid uploading clamav with these changes
right now.

The second phase of this process will begin on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, when I
will
coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates.

The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will
receive an updated PO file for their language.

Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to
the debian-i18n mailing list.

Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as
individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug
reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with.

The call for translation updates and new translations will run until
about Tuesday, May 05, 2009. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed or
changed
debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of
course, other changes are safe.

Please note that this is an approximative delay, which depends on my
own availability to process this work and is influenced by the fact
that I simultaneously work on many packages.

Around Wednesday, May 06, 2009, I will contact you again and will send a final
patch
summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates,
updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations).

Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation.

Bug#523578: [xserver-xorg-video-intel] UXA crashes Xorg when logging out of KDE

2009-04-11 Thread Yves Paredes
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.6.3-1

With UXA enabled, I'm having problems when logging out of KDE (I haven't tried
this with GNOME/XFCE + GDM). If I'm lucky, it drops me down to a console, and
I can just restart X and KDE again. But more often, it crashes the X Server,
and gives me a blank screen that I can only get out of using the power button
or RSEIUB.

I don't experience this problem when using EXA.

I'm using a ThinkPad SL400 with an X4500MHD graphics chip. Here's the last

Bug#523577: libtool conflicts and missing depends

2009-04-11 Thread Amos Jeffries

Package: libtool
Version: 2.2.6a-4

After upgrading libtool in current sid/unstable it dies with the error:

libtoolize: `argz_.h' not found in `/usr/share/libtool/libltdl'

This is resolved by removing the libltdl3-dev package and installing the
recommended libltdl-dev.

On a clean install libtoolize still fails to work:
libtoolize: `ltdl.m4' not found in `/usr/share/aclocal'
when libltdl-dev is not also installed.

I believe the relationship should be a libtool requires libltdl-dev
instead of recommends.

The existing relations between libltdl-dev and libltdl3-dev will take
care of the libtool conflict once libtool is made to require libltdl-dev.

Bug#523576: meld: CTRL+Z after CTRL+X CTRL+V doesn't undo what was copied in one shot

2009-04-11 Thread Y Giridhar Appaji Nag

Version: 1.2.1-1
Severity: important

Hash: SHA1

If I cut a certain porition of code in the right pane by selecting it
and using CTRL+X, and I copy it elsewhere (using CTRL+V), I can't undo
the copying part in one shot via CTRL+Z. I have to do CTRL+Z multiple
times to get to the state where I was when I did a CTRL+V.

This is quite confusing and error prone. It is also unlike the usual
cut/paste/undo behaviour of most applications.

Bug#523573: clamav: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review

2009-04-11 Thread Christian Perrier
Quoting Christian Perrier (bubu...@debian.org):
 Package: clamav
 Version: N/A
 Severity: normal
 Tags: patch

 Dear Debian maintainer,

On Thursday, March 26, 2009, I notified you of the beginning of a review
 process
 concerning debconf templates for clamav.

The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates,
and the proposed changes are attached to this bug report.

Please review the suggested changes, and if you have any
objections, let me know in the next 3 days.

However, please try to avoid uploading clamav with these changes
 right now.

The second phase of this process will begin on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, when
 I will
coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates.

Actually, we didn't talk about this and I originally even didn't plan
to do a formal bug report as these templates are not *currently* in
the package.

However, the bug report is one step of my standardized review process
so I finally decided to go the usual way.

The templates include S. Gran's last comments.

Please confirm that everything is OK before I laucnh the formal call
for translations (this is part of the process, which is why I propose
handling it for you guys).

Bug#523580: phpldapadmin: Login fail with initial setup (using TLS).

2009-04-11 Thread Oded Naveh
Package: phpldapadmin
Version: 1.1.0.5-6
Severity: normal

-- Description:
Installed PLA with default configuration.
(from Synaptic, debconf frontend Readline, no questions asked.)
Login return error:
Could not start TLS. Please check your LDAP server configuration.
For both anonymous and authenticated login.
Disable TLS ($ldapservers-SetValue($i,'server','tls',false);),
allow anonymous login,
authenticated login return: Bad username or password. Please try
again.
Disable ldaps (re-enabled TLS),
$ldapservers-SetValue($i,'server','host','localhost');
$ldapservers-SetValue($i,'server','port','389');
Same results as without TLS.

-- Related (or not) Information:
PLA documentation says that LDAPS and TLS cannot be used together [1],[2].
Therefore I believe there's a bug in the debian config script.

I suspect failing to authenticate with TLS may be due to another problem
with slapd.conf or ldap.conf or the apache configuration.
I have a Debian Edu setup and for authentication with ldap-utils I need -xZ
options,
for ldapvi I must use --ldap-conf option for authentication, else it returns:
ldap_start_tls_s: Connect error (-11).

 (please-update-to-3.5.10-wishlist-bug already exists:

The latest unstable version seems to be 4:3.5.9-2 .

Did you use make to install it?

Bug still exists in 4:3.5.9-2 .

Long time has passed and now we have KDE 4.2 in unstable. Kalzium's equation
solver works fine here. Could you give it a try?

I've just read that kmymoney isn't ported to KDE4.x yet, so maybe it's the
problem,
but all dependencies are met, so I suppose it should look normally.

I'm currently affected by this bug too. I have broadcom 4328 (airport) with

also, FWIW restarting hal fixes the problem. Though I don't know what is causing
it, I'm suspecting suspend to ram.

Bug#523415: Acknowledgement (corrupted rendering)

2009-04-11 Thread Frederic Peters
I had a bit more time today to make some tests.

X starts fine with Option NoAccel true.

wrt AccelMethod:
 - EXA: gives the corrupted output this bug report is talking about.
 - UXA: gives the exact same corrupted output
 - XAA: gives a blank screen

I am attaching the Xorg.log.0 I get with EXA (as this is the default
option).

Hope it helps,

Frederic

Bug#521617: libnss-ldapd: tls_reqcert never doesn't work

2009-04-11 Thread Arthur de Jong
Sorry to not reply sooner.

On Sat, 2009-03-28 at 16:57 -0700, Jamie Heilman wrote:
With 0.6.7 if I have tls_reqcert never in /etc/ldap/ldap.conf then
nslcd can connect to my ldap servers (which unfortunately have
certificate problems and are outside of my administrative control) and
things work quite happily. The switch to 0.6.8 broke this capability
(almost surely the clean the environment and set LDAPNOINIT change
is responsible), even when I put tls_reqcert never in my
/etc/nss-ldapd.conf, which notably hasn't been well tested according
 to the warning messages.

Could you give me an summary of /etc/ldap/ldap.conf and
/etc/nss-ldapd.conf? That would make it easier to track this down.

Without tls_reqcert never in /etc/nss-ldapd.conf I just got this:

Mar 28 03:39:41 deadhour nslcd[11653]: [6c6125] failed to bind to LDAP server
ldaps://id.sea/: Can't contact LDAP server: Operation now in progress
[...]
While I'm not surprised it couldn't establish the connection due to
not being able to verify the certs, the error message could stand to be
 more informative.

The problem is that I've no idea how to get better error messages out of
the OpenLDAP library. Can't contact LDAP server is what I get from
OpenLDAP and Operation now in progress is what I get from errno (which
may or may not be useful). Running nslcd in debug mode (nslcd -d) could
give more details in some situations.

After adding tls_reqcert never to /etc/nss-ldapd.conf the messages
 changed slightly to:

Mar 28 03:41:02 deadhour nslcd[7158]: [8b4567] failed to bind to LDAP server
ldaps://id.sea/: Can't contact LDAP server: No such file or directory
[...]

Could you include the output of nslcd -d here? Can you also give some
more details on what kind of certificate is used (self-signed, etc).

Thanks for your bugreport.

Hi, as per recent discussion in the Debian KDE user mailing list,
there should be some text provided with Debian KDE packages like there
is for Mozilla and ALSA packages about when to report bugs to Debian and
when *AND ESPECIALLY HOW* to report bugs upstream.

It seem to solve some KDE4 and Java issues with opengl...

Is it possible to make it available in experimental ?

Bug#523585: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: Full-screen display jerky

2009-04-11 Thread Anthony Campbell
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon
Version: 1:6.12.2-1
Severity: normal

Following a recent upgrade of xorg my full-screen TV display is jerky
and freezes intermittently. Googleearth is also jerky.

As well as this there are problems with the keyboard. For example,
Ctrl-Alt-Del no longer stops X.

I thought it might be because DRI is enabled by default; I have not been
able to turn it off.

Possibly it is some other function of xorg that is causing all this but
I don't know what it could be.

Bug#519155: real pain now with 2.6.3 in unstable

2009-04-11 Thread Sven Hoexter
Hi,
now with 2.6.3 in unstable this is a real pain.
With XAA the xserver crashes and without it starts but hangs completly.
I tried it now with an empty xorg.conf and it hangs aswell.

Hardware is:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated Graphics
Controller (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company D530 sff(dc578av)

Memory at fc40 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512K]
I/O ports at 14e0 [size=8]
Expansion ROM at unassigned [disabled]
Capabilities: access denied

Attached Xorg.0.log is from a start with an empty xorg.conf.

Are you aware of any workarounds? Currently X is unusable here and that's
a bit unfortunate ...

Bug#451963: [kalzium] stable?

2009-04-11 Thread Matthias Krüger
Hi Ana,

You mean testing 4:4.2.2-1?
I'll do so in around six days, when the new kdeedu version migrated to
testing.

Is it possible to fix the bug or remove the feature for the stable version?
I think the crash still occurs in stable.

Thank you for your fine work!
Matthias Krüger

Bug#523562: autodetected keyboard has massively mismapped keycodes

The evdev driver, which is used by default with input-hotplug, indeed
uses a different set of keycodes than the traditional kbd driver. I'm
not sure there's a way to make that transition not painful for people
using xbindkeys/xmodmap and assuming the previous set of keycodes... :(

Bug#522567: please provide a hint that tp-smapi conflicts with in-kernel hdaps

the right way to do this for packages that replace modules from

Why should I divert the module, when the kernel gives me the ability to
just drop the right module into updates/ and it will pick that one over
the original version?

Additionally a divert would not solve the situation the original
reported had:

- boot a kernel with hdaps on a thinkpad
- load the original hdaps.ko
- install tp-smapi-modules-foo
- fail to load tp-smapi until the next reboot/reload of hdaps

after the next reboot updates/hdaps.ko will be loaded instead of
hwmon/hdaps.ko and everything is fine. But for the current boot,
hwmon/hdaps.ko is loaded, and regardles of updates and diverts, won't
be replaced with the new version until a unload and load by-hand.

two things:
1) don't use reportbug-ng; think of the kittens.
2) please send the full X log, not some stripped down version.

Also I don't think uxa bugs should be considered important just yet.

Bug#523589: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: dualhead broke with upgrade

2009-04-11 Thread di dit
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon
Version: 1:6.12.2-1
Severity: normal

The dualhead setup I've been using for more than 6 months broke up with
the last upgrade. The two identical monitors work fine in clone mode but
the following command results in a black screen on DVI-1 (the monitor
goes to standby mode it seems) while the display on DVI-0 is changed as
expected.
  xrandr --output DVI-1 --left-of DVI-0
At this stage, switching to the console (CTRL+ALT+F1) behave as expected
(both monitors display the same text) but switching back to X11
(CTRL+ALT+F7) restores the same situation (i.e. DVI-1 is black and DVI-0
displays the right half of the background image).

I had no success tweaking xorg.conf to get the dualhead output either so
only the clone mode works.

Bug#431402: Patch for this bug

2009-04-11 Thread chaica
tags 431402 patch

Hi,

Indeed it seems weird to offer the possibility to choose a non-existant
package or uninstalled package for installed packages on your system.
Here is a patch to solve this issue.

But I suspect the main issue could be triggered by the fact that dpkg -l
ping returns a line, maybe an old package which doesn't exist anymore,
I'm not sure. It could explain that reportbug doesn't ask to search ping
command inside existing packages, what it should do if no ping package
can be found.

Regards,
Carl Chenet

The only mention of it is in the changelog of linux-modules-extra-2.6

 Hi,

With XAA the xserver crashes and without it starts but hangs completly.

XAA isn't really supported anymore. The intel guys even want to drop EXA
in the near future...

Just remove the XAA line in xorg.conf and let the driver try EXA.

I tried it now with an empty xorg.conf and it hangs aswell.

 Hardware is:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
 Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company D530 sff(dc578av)

   I/O ports at 14e0 [size=8]
   Expansion ROM at unassigned [disabled]
   Capabilities: access denied

Attached Xorg.0.log is from a start with an empty xorg.conf.

I have pretty much the same hardware here running 2.6.3 on the same
kernel without problem (with EXA). No idea what's going on...

Bug#523594: recent udevinfo returns version differently - no awk required

2009-04-11 Thread Steffen Moeller
Package: laptop-mode-tools
Version: 1.47-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Hello, this is what udevinfo is returning for me:

$ udevinfo -V
the program '/bin/bash' called 'udevinfo', it should use 'udevadm info
options', this will stop working in a future release
140

The warning goes to stderr, hence

$ VERSION=`udevinfo -V`
the program '/bin/bash' called 'udevinfo', it should use 'udevadm info
options', this will stop working in a future release
$ echo $VERSION
140

Any awk magic that is applied to parse out the version number, as it is done in
the current versio it is, is consequently rather desastrous, the VERSION
variable is then empty. Here my suggestion:

I'm not really sure why you get that error, as it seems that file
was generated using -fPIC -DPIC. I would have to guess some
assembler was used, and that that's not PIC.

I've commited the patch anyway, since pointing at non-existant
logfiles isn't any better then pointing at those you don't have
permission to read.

Hmm - actually it might be better to not change, then:

Both setups won't work as is. But changing the configuration file on
systems that works already will cause package update scripts to ask if
you want to update configurations to the new default - which is of no
benefit, only confusion.

When the configfile is now updated anyway, my argument above is no
longer valid.

I have now applied your patch, and updated changelog as if you'd done it
yourself (since that's essentially what you did originally - I am to
blame for rejecting it back then).

What's the reason for the inofficial vs. unofficial check inside

After having a look at the issue I saw that those file actually have
a reference to the AUTHORS file, which seems to be the place in TomBoy
where the copyright for all those files is declared.

This was added recently, see:

http://gitorious.org/projects/gnote/repos/mainline/commits/3a41801b8672333b199ffb14c12367be952745e9

didn't make it to the package I uploaded, though.

 I personally would
guess probably fulfills the letter of law and license (but it is really only
a guess at this point). I'm a bit unsure though why it was chosen to
refer to the AUTHORS file instead of just including the copyright statement
in the file right next to the new one, which would probably have avoided
 this whole discussion.

I think this is because for each given file, not every person listed in
AUTHORS has participated in it, so one can only guess (or track down each
contribution for each file). Asserting copyright for more people than
actually wrote code is somewhat dangerous, so this looks like a way to
err on the safe side.

So pending a thorough review and without having seen the debian/copyright
file, I currently see no reason not to allow this in Debian. I don't think
that it contains any blatant lies about the copyright status of the work,
even though I have the feeling it tries to avoid giving credit to
the original authors any more than necessary. But that is a social issue
 and not a legal one.

I arranged debian/copyright to make it clear authorship copyright are
shared with the original authors. If you consider it necessary that this
clarification extends to upstream code, just let me know. Although it can
be a PITA because upstream doesn't want to be bothered about this.

Bug#519155: real pain now with 2.6.3 in unstable

Hi,

Just remove the XAA line in xorg.conf and let the driver try EXA.

Well same result as with no xorg.conf at all - it hangs.

I have pretty much the same hardware here running 2.6.3 on the same
kernel without problem (with EXA). No idea what's going on...

Seems to be similar to the problems described in #523415.
Setting Option NoAccel true helps a little bit. I can now at least
start and use X again but it's dead slow of course.

Is there any productive way to help the upstream devs to get the
accelaration support back to work on those older chipsets?

Bug#523606: enca_language_hook_ncs: Assertion `k ncharsets' failed

2009-04-11 Thread Sergey I. Sharybin

Package: libenca0
Version: 1.9-6
Severity: normal

When I'm trying to detect character set of buffer, which has KOI8-R
charset, with ENCA analyser for Belarussion language, I've got this error:

filters.c:373: enca_language_hook_ncs: Assertion `k ncharsets' failed.
Aborted

I think this is not normal. I suggest ENCA should return ENCA_CS_UNKNOWN
instead of terminating executing of my program.

This bug can be reproduced by enca binary package by typing `enca -L be
file.txt` where file.txt contents english and russian characters in
KOI8-R character set. File I've used to reproduce this bug can be found
in attachment.

Hi,

It's a predictible behaviour that reportbug hangs if you send a 105MB
file via e-mail. You can have limitions from both your own isp email
servers and Debian email servers. The solution you offer is acceptable,
but should go to the wishlist, not in the bug list.

Bug#317146: Possible patch for shared libgcc/libstdc++

2009-04-11 Thread Sam Morris
tag 317146 + patch
thanks

I have now tested the patch from Launchpad[0] and can report a partial
success! libgcc works:

$ i586-mingw32msvc-g++ -shared-libgcc -o shared.exe hi.cpp
$ i586-mingw32msvc-objdump -p shared.exe | grep 'DLL Name'
DLL Name: KERNEL32.dll
DLL Name: msvcrt.dll
DLL Name: msvcrt.dll
DLL Name: libgcc_sjlj_1.dll
$ wine shared.exe
hi

But libstdc++ does not:

$ i586-mingw32msvc-g++ -shared-libgcc -o shared.exe hi.cpp -lstdc++_s
$ i586-mingw32msvc-objdump -p shared.exe | grep 'DLL Name'
DLL Name: KERNEL32.dll
DLL Name: msvcrt.dll
DLL Name: libstdc++_sjlj_6.dll
$ wine shared.exe
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0xfff4 at address
0x6ce4f585 (thread 0009), starting debugger...
Usage:
winedbg [ [ --gdb ] [ prog-name [ prog-args ] | num |
file.mdmp | --help ]

I have attached the debdiff (modified to apply to the current package in
Debian) to this message.

I have also attached a test case to demonstrate that the patch works. If
you have the patched mingw32 package installed then you can simply run
'make' and then run both of the generated exe files under wine. Without
the patched package, you can only build the static exe with 'make
main-static.exe'.

Thanks for your report. I reproduced the bug so you can proceed.

The bug is caused by undocumented use of XkbLayout in your xorg.conf.

   Option XkbLayout fr(oss)

Currently console-setup doesn't support this. It expects

Option XkbLayout fr
Option XkbVariantoss

I think it shouldn't be difficult to fix console-setup.

I can confirm this problem on amd64 sid with gnome-keyring. downgrading
the keyring packages to 2.24 give me the needed agent function back.

Tell me if you need more infos/details which are not mentioned by

Otherwise modern kernels will generate a change uevent which will make
udev access the device again and maybe even remount it.

I do not know about the other functions, but the CDROMEJECT ioctl works
fine with a read only fd.

IIRC the O_RDWR was added for the benefit of the SCSI ioctl which might
not work otherwise. With some code reordering it should possible to limit
to that.

I suspect there is a D-Bus issue which prevents gnome-keyring from
talking to GConf.

It would be interesting (although non trivial) to investigate how the
D-Bus and GConf daemons are started and if the keyring daemon has access
to them.

Cheers,

Bug#523608: Newer version seems to have problems with screen resolution

2009-04-11 Thread Vincent Fourmond
Package: imagemagick
Version: 7:6.5.1.0-1
Severity: normal

  Hello,

Newer version of imagemagick seem to have a problem with detecting
the screen resolution. For instance, when using

  display -window root -backdrop picture.jpeg

now diplays the image sticking to the top left of the screen, while
it used to center it nicely.

Similarly, when using display on an image larger than the screen
size, the Pan Icon window appears, but the actual window used by
display is the size of the image. Older versions were only displaying
the biggest window that would fit into the screen and let the user
navigate on the image using the Pan Icon view.

Downgrading to 7:6.3.7.9.dfsg2-1+b1 fixes the problem.

I'm at your disposal for any further information you would need.

  Cheers,

Vincent

Bug#523610: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd: exa and xaa acceleration cause unstable DVD playback

2009-04-11 Thread Arthur Marsh
Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd
Version: 1.2.5-1
Severity: wishlist

I have an ASUS M3A78 Pro motherboard with built-in Radeon 3200 HD
(RS780 GPU) which I am hoping to use for video playback.

At present I a using the VGA output and have found that the default
acceleration takes the majority of the CPU cycles, and that using
either exa or xaa acceleration results in unstable video output using
gxine and loss of audio/video synchronisation in mplayer.

I could probably achieve better results with an older Radeon graphics
card but such cards are no longer available new.

I am happy to compile and test new versions of the radeonhd code.

While it is nice that totem prevent the screensave to launch when playing
   a movie,
it would be great if it wouldn't do so for audio only files...

Preferences → Display → second checkbox

Is there anything wrong with that?

I didn't spot it, but it was already checked :-/

It needs to be disabled.

Bug#481252: [initscripts] related bugs

2009-04-11 Thread C Sights
Package: initscripts
Version: 2.86.ds1-61

Hi,

Ubuntu has a related bug in their launchpad. (no solution however.)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/211631

Also, fixing this bug would solve debian bug #477498.

Thanks!
C.
