X-Debbugs-CC: Maxime ROBACHE mroba...@linux.utc.fr

Looking at the changelog, Maxime adopted this package and did a
single upload in 2006. Since then, there has been no sign of
life from him. For all intents and purposes, this package is
now orphaned.

Bug#570886: libservlet2.4-java on kfreebsd-amd64

2010-02-24 Thread Petr Salinger

Hello.

I did some tests.
The libservlet2.4-java 5.0.30-11 builds fine
using ant 1.7.1, it fails using ant 1.8.0.

So the root cause of this is #570889 in ant or gcj-4.4.

The ant 1.7.1 itself is buildable by current gcj-4.4.

Hi Al,

python-yaml provides with the YAML functionality described in the
Django manual: Serializing Django objects. Without it, Django silently
 fails to load YAML fixtures.

Added to Suggests (the same level as all the database modules) in SVN.

Bug#571191: music123: please upgrade to gnat-4.4

2010-02-24 Thread Ludovic Brenta

Package: music123
Version: 15-0.2
Severity: serious
Justification: gnat-4.3 will not be in squeeze

gnat-4.3 has RC bugs that I will not fix because the
default Ada compiler is now gnat-4.4. Please update
the package to use gnat-4.4 and recompile.

Note that, since music123 is an application rather than
a library, it is sufficient to just build-depend on gnat
without any version. This will make the package use the
default Ada compiler.

Bug#536362: place bigger warnings around dynamic services

2010-02-24 Thread Toni Mueller
Hello,

firehol does not work if it is configured to protect the NFS service
and if NFS is down for some reason. In that case, esp. at machine
startup, the machine in question ends up having none of their desired
packet filters in place, ie, everything is allowed.

I consider this as quite unexpected behaviour, and would like to see
some warnings to highlight this effect.

I suggest that firehol simply emits a warning that it can't configure a
dynamic services if it finds that the service in question is down, but
then proceeds to configure all other services that work, at least as an
option.

Kind regards,

Bug#571192: libcairo2: Eclipse crashes when hit on a proposal

2010-02-24 Thread Richard Zhou
Package: libcairo2
Version: 1.8.8-2
Severity: important

When hit Enter on a popup proposal, Eclipse crashes.
The following message showed in terminal.

rich...@r:~/bin/eclipse$ ./eclipse
The program 'Eclipse' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture parameter)'.

  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

This is after I updated libcairo2 from 1.8.8-2 to 1.8.10-1.
After downgrade to 1.8.8-2, everything is fine.

Bug#501794: /usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: --frontend should override DEBIAN_FRONTEND setting from environment

On 2008-10-10 16:10 +0100, Andreas Beckmann wrote:

 Package: debconf

 Hi,

shouldn't command line settings override the environment?
Probably not only --frontend vs. DEBIAN_FRONTEND, but for other
 parameters as well.

This is the behavior in all programs I've seen so far.

I just ran into a problem when I wanted to manually reconfigure a
package in a pbuilder environment (which had
DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive set, but I didn't recognize this at
 once). Even running
   dpkg-reconfigure --frontend foobar package
just exited with 0. No questions were asked. No way to reconfigure even
debconf. Every option given to --frontend was silently overridden by
 DEBIAN_FRONTEND.

AOL. I just tried to change /bin/sh to dash in my pbuilder setup and
scratched my head why dpkg-reconfigure dash would not do anything,
even with the --frontend and --priority options.

These environment variables are also not mentioned in the
dpkg-reconfigure manpage, only in debconf(7) which is in a separate
 package debconf-doc.

And even debconf.7 does not mention that DEBIAN_FRONTEND overrides the
--frontend option, at last I found it in the Debian changelog.

Yes thats right, because the ofed stack (infiniband drivers for clusters

From the way they're garbled, it seems that someone took the error messages in

Bug#570781: squeeze: ldap preseeding needs to be updated

2010-02-24 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
[Petter Reinholdtsen]
 I believe this preseeding in
 debian-edu-install/base-config/defaults.networked will fix the
 libnss-ldapd settings.

   # Some of the libnss-ldapd settings moved to nslcd in Squeeze
   nslcd nslcd/ldap-base string dc=skole,dc=skolelinux,dc=no
   nslcd nslcd/ldap-uris string DNS

I've now tested this preseeding, and it work as it should.

 Hello pkg-wpa Maintainers,

I got the same problem after an update from 2.6.32-trunk (squeeze) to 2.6.32-2

hostapd working again. I use an ath9k based card if this matters.

Thanks for feedback.

 Here is the lspci output:

I've prepared an NMU for hostapd (versioned as 1:0.6.10-1.1) but did not
 upload
it. Please tell me if it is ok to upload it or whether one of you wants to
 upload it.

I'd like to fix some other bugs in the next upload too. If we have not acted
in the next 7 days feel free to NMU.

Are you interested in co-maintaining hostapd?

Thanks, Kel.

I do not have sound anymore in Flash videos (it works in other
apps). It works again when downgrading to libasound 1.0.21a-1 . I
have not been able to find libasound 1.0.22-1 to test if it still
 works (haven't found it in http://snapshot.debian.net ).

It works fine here. Which flash app do you use? AFAIK there is no
API change in libasound. There should be no difference to 1.0.21 or
1.0.22-1.

- your gbp setup includes --git-ignore-new by default

 See

That was helpful, thanks - I didn't know about collating elements in REs.

Lots of the behavior of regular expressions in non-C locales is
counterintuitive, so it might be helpful to point out if each example
violates some rule of the standard or only common sense (both are
 important, of course).

Uh, that standard is too dense for me; I'll pass on that and can only vouch
for common sense.

Package: python-cherrypy3

Please update cherrypy3 to 3.2.0 rc1; the newly released sabnzbdplus
0.5.0 needs a newer version than 3.1.2. I would like to get that into
Ubuntu's 10.04 release as well and since I prefer to keep things in sync
with Debian, that explains why I'm asking for this rc rather waiting for
cherrypy 3.2.0 to go final.

FYI: I have an updated package ready, if you are fine with this update
please let me know and I could upload it to DMPT svn for review.

Actually, I don't see why this is a bug with youtube-dl, since that is
not exactly a legal URL, but, instead, a redirector. There could be an
endless chain of redirections, and I'm not convinced if youtube-dl
should follow it or not.

I would tend to tag this as a wontfix, but I'll wait for a comment of

Bug#571197: portmap: Should to run both from rcS.d and rc[2-5].d

2010-02-24 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
Package: portmap
Version: 6.0-6
Severity: important
Tags: patch

I believe the fix applied to fix the issues reported in #340158 and
#437912 actually broke runlevel 1 for portmap. In a normal boot where
NFS file system are to be mounted, portmap need to start in rcS.d, and
the call to the portmap script in rc2.d/ is a no-op. When switching
to runlevel 1, the portmap process is stopped, and when switching back
to runlevels 2-5, it need to be started again. Because of this, there
need to be start symlinks in runlevels 2-5 as well as the start
symlink in rcS.d/.

In short, I believe the bug reports and claims in #340158 and #437912
are wrong, and the portmap script actually need to run twice during
boot to make sure runlevel 1 works properly. And since the portmap
script was changed to not delay needlessly when called the second
time, there is not a big problem with boot speed to run it twice.

Here is a patch to reinsert the missing start symlinks during upgrade,
and make sure the correct symlinks are inserted on new installs not
using dependency based boot sequencing. The patch also bring the
init.d script header in line with the arguments used by update-rc.d.

Bug#571138: Backtrace of the crash

Hello,

I have been affected by this bug too. I was able to get a backtrace

The -M option switches startpar into a make(1) like behaviour. This
 option
takes three different arguments: boot, start, and stop for
 reading
.depend.boot or .depend.start or .depend.stop respectively in the
 directory
/etc/init.d/. By scanning the boot and runlevel directories in
 /etc/init.d/
it then executes the appropriate scripts in parallel.

There are no directories under /etc/init.d on my systems, isn't this some
 leftover
 (and confusing) SuSE heritage?

Yeah, it should be /etc/rc*.d/. SuSE puts these directories in /etc/init.d
afaik.

Thanks, Kel.

Bug#570273: debian-installer: netboot stops after loading pxelinux.cfg/default

All right, I think I got it... syslinux/pxelinux.txt states, that:

PXELINUX currently requires that the boot server has a TFTP server
which supports the tsize TFTP option (RFC 1784/RFC 2349).

But if you look in the NEWS file of Syslinux, which is packaged as
/usr/share/doc/syslinux/changelog.gz (why?) you'll find:

Changes in 3.70:
[...]
* PXELINUX: We no longer require a TFTP server which supports
the tsize option for all transfers.

which sounds ambiguous, but if you also consider
http://git.zytor.com/?p=syslinux/syslinux.git;a=commitdiff;h=86e68b689ce2dd228278ef08510c6532f429501f
it becomes clear that this issue shouldn't affect the Lenny version.

If it does, that definitely is a Syslinux bug.

However, although tftpd-hpa generally works, it is horribly slow in
inetd as well as in standalone mode, i.e. it takes ages until some
menu is displayed (having a look at the network traffic going on in
 the meantime shows why :/).

I never had such a problem with tftpd-hpa. Could you please elaborate?

Why has the Architecture: all package been moved to Architecture: i386

Yes thats right, because the ofed stack (infiniband drivers for clusters
on linux) only work on amd64, i386, ia64, powerpc so the doc is only
interesting on those arch.

But surely the drive isn't shipped in the -doc package? Is the

Ok, I think I understand what's going on:

 - machine starts booting, grub starts and sends the «clear screen»
   escape sequence
 - I connect to the serial console (through libvirt)
 - libvirt doesn't have a backlog, so I end up never getting the clear
screen command and so grub is much less usable.

I'm not sure what's the right way to fix it, but the current state of
 affairs is fairly suboptimal.

GRUB can't know when you connect your console. Add a clear command
manually or clear screen in console viewer

Bug#565706: grub2 enters rescue mode with fd0 cannot get C/H/S values

I am seeing the same problem: grub reports this on startup and then gets no
 further:

 entering rescue mode

Can you try the attached patch?
My system has three RAID1 md partitions across sda and sdb, containing swap,
/ and /boot and it has another disk (sdc). With these plugged in, it all
works fine, but once I plug a USB drive in as well, the system won't start.
I can get it to start by removing the USB drive and resetting it
(ctrl-alt-del or power-cycle). This is not ideal though, as it's a
hidden-away server which always has a USB disk plugged into it for backup
purposes, so I cannot reboot it remotely because it won't start up again.

Actually, I don't see why this is a bug with youtube-dl, since that is
not exactly a legal URL, but, instead, a redirector. There could be an
endless chain of redirections, and I'm not convinced if youtube-dl
should follow it or not.

I would tend to tag this as a wontfix, but I'll wait for a comment of
yours regarding this.

Just to be clear, we're talking about the url that
http://tinyurl.com/yz8ypxx points to, namely
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepageeurl=http%3A//www.youtube.com/user/MikeyCoooL%23p/a/73B7A33BE199C96B/0/pfrjcVD_YjIv=pfrjcVD_YjI
Not http://tinyurl.com/yz8ypxx itself, right?

If so, not sure why youtube-dl should not follow it, but please go ahead
and tag wontfix if you wish.

2010-02-24 Thread Victor Pablos Ceruelo

Ok, I was wrong.

Can you explain me why I was not able to forbid access to portmap
(and/or unfs) when using the following config files?

I've tried using syntaxes 138.100.12.136/255.255.248.0 and 138.100.
and I can still access portmap and unfs from the internet ...

I had to put folders in ro mode to avoid security problems ... :-(

Thanks,

Victor.

Could you please be so kind and tell us what your problem is? There should be
no need for a reinstall.

This morning, I think after upgrading (some days ago (I reboot daily,
but I only use virtualbox sometimes)) from 2.6.32-trunk to 2.6.32
kernel, virtualbox didn't launch my vm, and told me about installing
-dkms package.

But -dkms package was installed many time ago.

Then I did:

aptitude remove virtualbox-ose-dkms
aptitude install virtualbox-ose-dkms

And the problem went out.

Maybe my dkms config should be changed from the default config ?

Thank you

Bug#571202: Errors in rsyslog.conf(5)

2010-02-24 Thread Alexander Gerasiov
Package: rsyslog
Version: 3.18.6-4
Severity: minor

In manpage I see parameter InputUDPServerRun, but in config file there
is commented out UDPServerRun. The first doesn't work, the second is ok.

I suppose, that there are the same problems with tcp and repl
parameters.

Looks like it still exists in package in testing (but I didn't check
this).

Cheers.

2010-02-24 Thread Victor Stinner
Package: python-qt4

Justification: renders package unusable

After a dist-upgrade, my PyQt application doesn't work anymore.
I removed the packages sip4 and python-sip4 but it doesn't fix this
issue. I tried to remove python-sip and then reinstall python-qt4 is
still present.

I don't understand because the new python-sip packages provides SIP API
7.0 whereas the error message starts with the sip module implements
API v6.0!?

Bug#570781: squeeze: ldap preseeding needs to be updated

2010-02-24 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
[Holger Levsen]
 Great.

I assume you're holding this off until after +edu1?

I'm not commiting to svn, if that is what you mean. But I believe it
would be a good idea to do so, as having unused preseeding values in
not really a risk.

Anyway, I update URL: http://ftp.skolelinux.org/installer-squeeze.dat
with the squeeze preseedings I use for PXE testing, if others want to
test using the same settings.

Hi,

AFAICT of the four desktop environments that Debian offers to install from
installations CDs, LXDE is currenly the only one that does not ship with
network management software. In GNOME, network-manager-gnome is pulled in via
recommends of the gnome meta-package. In KDE network-manager-kde is installed
via the kde-desktop task. Finally in XFCE wicd is installed in the xfce-desktop

i386 ia64 amd64 powerpc? Does that make sense?

Yes thats right, because the ofed stack (infiniband drivers for
clusters on linux) only work on amd64, i386, ia64, powerpc so the
doc is only interesting on those arch.

But surely the drive isn't shipped in the -doc package? Is the
 documentation different for each architecture?

Ok that was the question i thinked about, and done i that way, so the
opensm-doc package should be arch all and the rest amd64, i386, ia64,
powerpc

so how can i correct this because the opensm package is needed for other
packages to enter testing and this block the rest of the ofed stack ?

http://qa.debian.org/excuses.php?package=opensm

As Aidas said, it's not a bug it's a configuration issue. This can
be fixed changing on client side require to unique.

After a dist-upgrade, my PyQt application doesn't work anymore.

issue. I tried to remove python-sip and then reinstall python-qt4 is

I don't understand because the new python-sip packages provides SIP API

 API v6.0!?

Hi,

does

$ python

lead to the same error? Did you ever install sip manually? Do you get
the following output?

$ python -v

Bug#571205: daemon: complains about non writable pidfiles dir even when called with --running

2010-02-24 Thread Thomas Koch
Package: daemon
Version: 0.6.3-1
Severity: minor

I'm using daemon in my init.d script. When I call it daemon with
--pidfiles and --running to implement the status) call for the init
script, it complains:

Invalid --pidfiles argument: '/var/run/hadoop' (Directory is not
writable)

However there's no necessity to complain, since I'm only checking and
don't intend to write to the pidfiles dir.
Every user should be allowed to check, whether a daemon is running.

Hi Pavan,

What do you think about this bug report? It sounds like something that
should be fixed upstream, not just in Debian.

There's more information at http://wiki.debian.org/RpathIssue.

Thanks so much for analysing this! I spent nearly a full day trying to
track this down as a possible bug in cdebconf (in d-i) before it
occurred to me that it might be reproducible with newt alone, and thus
found this in the Debian newt bug list ...

At line 295 of newt.c, newt calls fribidi_log2vis passing the length of
the input string (not counting the terminating 0 character) and never
makes sure that the output buffer is actually terminated. In 0.10.9 this
worked fine, but now with 0.19.2 you end up with random garbage after
 the button texts.

One simple fix would be to just set out[len] = 0 at line 296 to ensure
 proper string termination.

I don't have a particular opinion on the fribidi change, but my instinct
here would be to zero-fill the output array, which is a one-line change
too. I applied the following patch to the newt package in Ubuntu:

  * Zero-initialise fribidi_log2vis' output buffer, since it no longer does
so itself (thanks to Brad Jorsch for analysis; Debian bug #570581;
LP: #526391).

Alastair, could something like this be uploaded quite urgently? I

Which versions of heimdal libraries have you had installed before

Bug#571212: munin generates graphs correctly but does not generate links

2010-02-24 Thread Arthur Lutz

I'm migrating from a host to another. I've tried with existing RDD (converted)
data files, and with and fresh /var/lib/munin/ but in both cases I get the
same result.

The graphs generate correctly, I don't see any errors in
/var/log/munin/munin-html.log

The index files are empty shells. They just display the munin headers and
that's it.
The files exist so I can navigate by typing the URLs.

Thanks for any tips, places to look.

Bug#570773: squeeze: LDAP connections using TLS do not work

2010-02-24 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
[Holger Levsen]
Something is wrong with the generation and/or with the distribution of the
LDAP SSL certificate. LDAP connections using TLS do not work.

Filing as serious as having LDAP configured out of the box is a core
 feature of Debian Edu.

I suspect the cause of my problems during testing is that I install on
a network where the 'ldap' DNS name already exist, causing the
installer to download the wrong server certificate to
/etc/ldap/ssl/ldap-server-pubkey.pem on the main server (it should be
copied from the local disk instead). The certificate is then wrong
when I disconnect the main-server from the local network to test it
after installation.

If I am right, this problem will affect lenny installations too.

I have added some test code to testsuite/ldap-server in svn to detect
when that happen, and hope it will make it posible to verify my
suspicion.

Happy hacking,

I thought that you were talking about the tinyurl address.

If so, not sure why youtube-dl should not follow it, but please go ahead and
 tag wontfix if you wish.

No, I won't gratuitously tag anything wontfix on my packages. :-)
That's why I tagged it moreinfo. :-) Anyway, you seem to be using a
very, very old version of youtube-dl, that has many problems.

Can you confirm that the problem doesn't exist anymore with the
version from unstable? I can't reproduce it here with the newer
version.

BTW, it seems that youtube-dl will never be part of a stable release
due to concerns of the Release Managers and you should probably get
the package from unstable (I try to be conservative with the versions
that I upload).

2010-02-24 Thread Ludovic Brenta

Package: lists.debian.org

Name: debian-...@lists.debian.org

Rationale:
I started out in 2003 as (almost) the sole maintainer of Ada
in Debian but, in the past couple of years, several people have
joined in the effort. It has become necessary to coordinate
work of all these people. In addition to package maintainers,
the list would be targeted at prospective maintainers (e.g.
seeking packaging advice, sponsoring, peer reviews, etc.) and
end users (asking advice about existing packages, how to best
 use them, etc.).

Short description: Ada in Debian

Long description:
 Discussion of Ada in Debian.
.
Major topic of discussion that this mailing list is intended for
include: Debian Policy for Ada[1], packaging advice, release
coordination among Ada packages, general help for Ada programmers
 using the Debian packages.

Category: Developers

Subscription policy: open

Post policy: open (initially at least)

Web archive: yes

Precedents: debian-j...@l.d.o, debian-ocaml-ma...@l.d.o,
 debian-pyt...@l.d.o, debian-r...@l.d.o, etc.

Expected traffic: ~50 messages a month at cruise speed.

Yes, I am sure, and anyway, since I have virtualbox-ose as a service
to start at boot, it always checks if it has modules for the running

As long as you don't care giving us more information about which script shall
do what, what kind of output it genererates and why you are sure that the
modules are bein build accordingly there is simply no way for us to help you
with your problem. I'm pretty sure it's a local one as apparently no one else

Bug#571207: cappuccino: uses python2.6/site-packages with Python 2.6 as default

2010-02-24 Thread Jakub Wilk

Source: cappuccino
Version: 0.5.1-2
Severity: important
User: debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: python2.6

Hello,

When rebuilt in an environment with Python 2.6 as the default version,
your binary package contained the following files:

/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/cappuccino-0.5.1-py2.6.egg-info

The correct location of Python modules for Python = 2.6 is
/usr/lib/pythonX.Y/dist-packages. In fact, packages shipping files in
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages will break installation of
python2.6-minimal.

Bug#569548: [Pkg-fonts-devel] Bug#569548: fontforge: fix for the segfault

2010-02-24 Thread Rogério Brito
Dear Christian,

First of all, I'm sorry for the late reply, but I am only now catching
up with my e-mail.

2010/2/19 Christian PERRIER bubu...@debian.org:
 Quoting Rogério Brito (rbr...@ime.usp.br):
This feedback is very, very much appreciated (and lacking in other
aspects of the project). You make it tempting to join the fonts team.
 :-)

 Feel free..:-)

Is there any formalized procedure for new members? I barely know how
to package things, but I would like to help (please, keep in mind that
I am only a Debian Maintainer, not a Debian Developer).

People able to fix internal coding issues in fontforge are very much
welcomed to help maintaining that package. I'm sure I can answer this
 on behalf of Kęstutis.

Thank you very much for both your and Kęstutis kind replies.

Not http://tinyurl.com/yz8ypxx itself, right?

I thought that you were talking about the tinyurl address.

If so, not sure why youtube-dl should not follow it, but please go ahead and
tag wontfix if you wish.

No, I won't gratuitously tag anything wontfix on my packages. :-)
That's why I tagged it moreinfo. :-) Anyway, you seem to be using a
very, very old version of youtube-dl, that has many problems.

Thanks for not just closing it. I know maintainers who refuse to leave
bugs open if they are not going to fix it.

Can you confirm that the problem doesn't exist anymore with the
version from unstable? I can't reproduce it here with the newer
version.

Ok, upgraded to current version in unstable.

BTW, it seems that youtube-dl will never be part of a stable release
due to concerns of the Release Managers and you should probably get
the package from unstable (I try to be conservative with the versions
that I upload).

Ok, thanks. For the record, this is the first problem I've encountered
with youtube-dl, but I don't download much stuff from youtube. Mostly
dance clips. Though I've no idea why youtube can't provide a download
facility.

Bug#272645: [Pkg-opt-media-team] please use O_EXCL to open the dvd device

2010-02-24 Thread Rogério Brito
Dear George.

I'm sorry for replying this late, but I am only now catching up on my e-mails.

2010/1/30 George Danchev danc...@spnet.net:
However I do believe that this can be achieved in a more efficient way:

 http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2010/01/msg00642.html

This is a very welcome proposal and I think that we could merge the
pkg-opt-media-team with your proposal, as far as I am concerned (I am
not sure if there were any replies to that message).

I have, BTW, committed some small fixes to packages at
http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-opt-media/dvd%2Brw-tools.git but I am not
really sure why that repository does not appear on the main git.d.o
page.

If Takaki is OK with the merge of the teams, I guess that we can
consolidate everything.

Yes, I want.
The CD mirror is synced automatically. It is already in sync with
ftp.br.debian.org/debian-cd, despite the local trace file is
missing. I just edited my custom script in order to fix that.

Must CD mirror use pushing also? If so, I must configure it.

Yes, that would be great.

Bug#568872: This issue also affecting radeon 3200HD on anamorphic 16:9 1024x768 plasma display

2010-02-24 Thread Bernard Gray
Hardware is a radeon hd 3200 onboard graphics card, using xorg radeon
driver, outputting to a 42 plasma display @ 1024x768 anamorphic
aspect ratio (rectangular pixels).
Prior to this xorg update it was reporting/working at correct
resolution and aspect ratio. Now xdpyinfo is reporting an incorrect
physical size, and as such applications such as moovida are now
displaying incorrectly (a stretched image).

Xorg.0.log is giving mixed messages - Max Image Size [cm] is correct,
Image Size gives correct aspect ratio (16:9), but Setting screen
physical size is wrong (4:3 aspect ratio).

$ grep -i  size /var/log/Xorg.0.log | tail -n 5
(II) RADEON(0): Using exact sizes for initial modes

$ xdpyinfo | grep dimensions

Strangely, xrandr is reporting a correct aspect ratio...

xorg.conf is almost empty:
