Bug#631068: nyquist: Commercial use of xlisp not allowed

2011-07-23 Thread Steve M. Robbins
Hello Roger,

I've recently learned that one of the nyquist files contains license
terms contrary to the Debian Free Software Guidelines (DFSG)
[ http://www.debian.org/social_contract#guidelines ]:

On Sat, Jun 25, 2011 at 07:52:01PM +0200, Sam Geeraerts wrote:

The file xlisp/xlbfun.c contains the following license notice:

/* Copyright (c) 1985, by David Michael Betz
 All Rights Reserved
Permission is granted for unrestricted non-commercial use */

This clearly does not permit commercial use. In the worst interpretation
it also doesn't allow modification or distribution.

Nearly the same file is also used in Audacity, see bug 631068.

I've just checked and found the latest release of xlisp
[ http://www.xlisp.org/ ] has a new license that is compatible the
DFSG.

Would you consider replacing the problematic files when you make
a new release?

Thanks,
-Steve

Well, no, the xulrunner /path/to/application.ini approach still
seems to work fine with all xulrunner versions, so I'll stick with
that for now. IIRC conkeror's upstream is also going in that

 before IIRC.

Except there is no xulrunner binary ;) So if you want to support
several versions, you need to scan for xulrunner-1.9, xulrunner-1.9.1,
xulrunner-1.9.2, xulrunner-2.0, xulrunner-5.0, xulrunner-6.0, etc.

It's not because conkeror is fortunate enough to work with different
versions that we can assume everything will.

Sure. I though think that instantbird is the only other non-mozilla
xulrunner application in Debian besides conkeror.

But it uses a binary component and thus is effectively tied to a single
version. So conkeror is effectively alone.

ckbcomp doesn’t look at the cached keymap itself, so this seems entirely

rebooting?

 Hi folks,

Attached is a patch to switch bluez-alsa to the multiarch path, by querying
the *alsa* libdir path from pkg-config instead of assuming the libdir should
be the same for all plugins being built.  The patch itself is safe and
correct to push upstream, with or without multiarch; the change to the
debian directory is, of course, specific to multiarch.

This patch will be applied in Ubuntu shortly; and as bluez-alsa is unusable
with the libasound2 in unstable until this is fixed, I would encourage you
 to do likewise in Debian.

 Thanks for considering the patch.

Bug#635154: olvwm corrupts DISPLAY when running menu commands if DISPLAY lacks screen number

2011-07-23 Thread Adam M. Costello
Package: olvwm
Version: 4.4.3.2p1.4-25
Severity: important

If DISPLAY lacks a screen number (for example, :0 rather than :0.0) then
olvwm corrupts it when running a command from the popup menu, preventing
the command from connecting to the X server.

For example, with DISPLAY=:0 olvwm will invoke menu commands with
DISPLAY=.0 which is invalid. You can reproduce this by adding a menu
command in ~/.openwin-menu that invokes a script that writes $DISPLAY to
some file.

A workaround is to rewrite DISPLAY in ~/.xsession to append .0 if
DISPLAY lacks a screen number.

Bug#560721: RFS: spice

2011-07-23 Thread Liang Guo
Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package spice.

* Package name: spice
  Version : 0.8.2-1
Upstream Author : Red Hat, Inc.
* URL : http://www.spice-space.org/
* License : LGPL 2.1+
  Section : misc

It builds these binary packages:
libspice-server-dev - Header files and development documentation for
spice-server
libspice-server1 - Implements the server side of the SPICE protocol
spice-client - Implements the client side of the SPICE protocol

I override configure-generated-file-in-source lintian
warnings, for spice_0.8.2.orig-celt.tar.gz come with
config.log and config.status and debian/rules will
delete them.

The upload would fix these bugs: 560721

My motivation for maintaining this package is: SPICE is an interesting desktop
virtulization project, I want Debian can act as a guest or hypervisor with

But pay attention that, above output is taken from the machine where I
manually set keycode 58 in /etc/console-setup/cached.kmap.gz to a
 sequence of Controls.

ckbcomp doesn’t look at the cached keymap itself, so this seems entirely
correct to me. What happens immediately after you run “setupcon --save”
(which will replace /etc/console-setup/cached.kmap.gz), and then after
 rebooting?

Now it appears to be working. And stat cached.kmap.gz tells me that
the file is modified just after setupcon --save. So what was missing?

(I'm was not suggesting to propagate layout change after startup, of

Iceweasel doesn't deal with VDAU itself, so whatever does on your system

Bug#560721: RFS: spice

 - dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/spice/spice_0.8.2-1.dsc

You shouldn't need to override these warnings if the clean target would just
seriously delete them (not as make distclean but plain rm -f). Alternatively
you could stuff them into debian/clean. That should get rid of the warning
and thus the need to override.

What makes me wonder more though is that you put autotools-dev into the
Build-Depends yet do not seem to make use of it.

Moreover you specify this package is only suitable to build on i386 and
amd64. Most probably these are the only platforms that you've built and
tested this on - but apart from this, is there any known limitation why it
would not be buildable on any other arch? Shouldn't the source be arch:any
rather?

Regarding the embedded celt I'm probably as unhappy with the solution as the
rest and I'm inclined to say it should be packaged separately to scale
better. Yet I also see that'd be stepping quite a lot onto the celt
maintainers (who don't want the celt051 in the first place).

Your patches are not marked as forwarded upstream. I guess upstream would be
interested in them though.

So please try to find out about the arch:all issue, add the missing
autotools-dev files replacement and report back to get the upload prepared.

Thanks!

Bug#633343: xserver-xorg-core: No keyboard after fresh install

2011-07-23 Thread wiertel
A friend of mine had some problem with input devices in xorg. We used a
workaround - explicitly configure input devices in xorg.conf: in section
ServerFlags disable option AutoEnableDevices and add InputDevice section for
keyboard and mouse (the drivers we used were kbd and mouse from
xserver-xorg-input-{kbd,mouse} package maybe evdev would work as well).

Without it the only way we found to terminate gdm was using magic SysRq.

I could give you more details if you like, but using xorg.conf like back in the
old days should be enought.

I don't see any line like egrep 'Loading.*input' /var/log/Xorg.0.log in your
log. I'm quite sure there should be some.

I do agree with that. But as I've argued in this bug log, that is a
separate issue. What you suggest doing is actually the big task which
underlies #388141. That shall be done, but the need of doing that should
not hinder, imho, other improvements in our copyright declarations such
as making clear that SPI is not the sole copyright owner of the debian

I was by no mean implying that fixing this bug should stop us from

Bug#632332: [Pkg-libvirt-maintainers] Bug#632332: libvirt-bin: directory permissions differ from upstream

2011-07-23 Thread Guido Günther
On Fri, Jul 01, 2011 at 10:08:47AM -0400, Jim Paris wrote:
 Package: libvirt-bin

On the libvirt mailing list, I noticed this patch:

   http://www.redhat.com/archives/libvir-list/2011-May/msg01367.html
   Subject: [PATCH] libvirt.spec: /var/cache/libvirt should be 0711.

I was curious to see if this packaging change made its way to Debian,
but it seems that we don't set _any_ of the permissions like the .spec
file does. The particular bug they were trying to fix likely doesn't
exist in Debian because our /var/cache/libvirt is already overly
permissive, but this seems like an oversight and can be a potential
security issue (information leakage due to default 0755 rather than
the more restrictive permissions that the .spec file lists).
Looking at the dirs I dont' think were're actually leaking information
at the moment but it might be better to stay close to upstream in case
it puts sensible files there.
Thanks,

Bug#540208: lsb-release: Wrong codename still present with experimental pinning

2011-07-23 Thread Simone Rossetto
Package: lsb-release
Version: 3.2-27
Followup-For: Bug #540208

With my apt preferences and experimental repositories the lsb_release script
still reports the wrong codename. The attached patch uses the 'ignoresuites'
variable (already present in the python script) to ignore the experimental
entries in source.list. I don't know if this is the right way to solve this
issue, but it works for me.

I agree with Henrik that X doesn't actually crash. The fullscreen image of
the video freezes, but when trying to leave fullscreen the video goes on
playing (I hear the sound) and the mouse cursor also acts like I'm back in
non-fullscreen mode, i.e. it changes at the border of windows for resizing
 etc.
However I haven't found a way to get rid of that frozen fullscreen video
image, so I also had to kill X to get a usable desktop again.

Furthermore /maybe/ this happens when something is displayed on top of the
fullscreen image, like a message from xosd-bin (when I press the laptops
volume buttons I have messages displayed) - but this could have been a
 coincidence.

This is intel video driver bug which is pretty common when using kwin (kde-
window-manager) with OpenGL desktop effects enabled. Not sure if you want to
reassign it given the flash plugin is proprietary. On the other hand,
userspace software should never be able to crash an X server.

Hi,

I'd like to merge Ubuntu's support for iSCSI during d-i back into
Debian. Here's a patch for open-iscsi to add a udeb, which is the first
step in making this work.

Once this has landed, I'll merge the partman-iscsi work I've done into
the d-i repository.

2011-07-23 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: ttf-staypuft

Tags: patch

Your last upload unfortunately is missing the part that removes the
defoma hints file when the package is upgraded. See former bug report
about defoma removal.

Fixing patch attached.

Bug#487924: subversion: package has no documentation

2011-07-23 Thread Jonathan Nieder
retitle 487924 RFP: svnbook -- Subversion handbook (Version Control With
Subversion)
quit

Hi Lee,

lee wrote:

Hm, the URL to the documentation is http://svnbook.red-bean.com/,
not http://svn-book.red-bean.com/ as was displayed in the manpage
due to the size of the terminal.

However, it's arguable that a commandline tool should require
using a GUI to be able to read its documentation and that the
documentation isn't available in the distribution.

Makes sense. The need for fleshed-out manpages is already documented
at http://bugs.debian.org/378056, so let's use this bug to track
progress in packaging the svnbook for Debian. (To be clear, alas I
don't think I'll have time to work on this in the immediate future.)
Quick pointers:

* Package name: svnbook
  Version : 1.6+r3915
  Upstream Author : svnbook-...@red-bean.com
* URL : http://svnbook.red-bean.com/
* VCS : http://svnbook.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
* License : CC-BY-2.0
  Programming Lang: DocBook 4.4
  Description : Subversion users manual

This package contains Version Control with Subversion, a book about
Subversion, a version control system that was once designed to
supplant CVS. The book is published by O'Reilly Media.

The package contains HTML and PDF versions of the book (although
you can certainly buy a hard copy if you'd like to), which serves
as the reference documentation for Subversion. It is translated into
  several languages.

It is unfortunately based on the wrong templates, I'm afraid.

Resyncing with the POT file gives the attached result. Could you

Bug#635166: Please enable audio support in xen-qemu

Package: xen
Version: 4.1.1

On the xen-qemu-dm-4.0 package, I enabled audio support, but since this
is packaged in 4.1, audio support is gone.

What I did for squeeze, is:

--- a/configure 2010-03-23 17:08:39.0 +0800

+fi

Then:

$(STAMPS_DIR)/setup: $(STAMPS_DIR)/source
cd $(BUILD_DIR); ./xen-setup \
--audio-drv-list=pa oss alsa sdl esd \
--audio-card-list=ac97 es1370 sb16 cs4231a adlib gus \

You also need to build-depends on:

libasound2-dev, libesd0-dev, libpulse-dev

Please add the support for audio, it's otherwise a regression.

Having a build-depends on libbluetooth-dev would also be a good idea
to enable bluetooth support in xen-qemu-dm.

Thanks for considering the above,
Cheers,

Please note that the version mentioned in debian/postinst, preinst,

So, after applying my patch, you need to correct the version number in

Also Epiphany it does not work with 3.0.4-1.

I do not know since when this happens and [1] is the only Web site I noticed

Bug#635168: accountsservice: Only one user shows up ad gdm3 login screen, or in the user editor in GNOME 3

2011-07-23 Thread Matteo Settenvini
Package: accountsservice
Version: 0.6.12-5
Severity: important

Since I installed debian, and upgraded accountsservice to the latest version, I
stopped being able to see more than one user (the one with the largest UID) in
the gdm3 login window. Each time, I have to select other... and manually type
the user name (there are 4 users on this machine).

Moreover, the unlock screen for the screensaver displays the wrong user when
waiting for the password, and I cannot see any other user in the GNOME 3 Edit
users window. If I am logged in with my administrator account, for instance, I
cannot even change my own details such as name or portrait, as I am not the
user with the highest UID.

The same package installed on another PC (amd64 arch) does not have this
problem. It seem to be a powerpc-specific issue.

This might be caused also by consolekit or similar packages, but I'm giving my
best shot and say it's an issue of accountsservice on powerpc.

Hi Ross,

Ross Boylan wrote:

It would be helpful if the README.Debian explained what state the
package was in after installing it.

 1. What options was it built with (e.g., ssl, zip)?

 2. What state is the system in? (i.e., there is no subversion
repository on your system. You need to create one if you want it. If
you want to use Apache, you will need to x, y, and z.).

You might also mention other setup that's necessary (e.g., I think ssl
needs some certificates to be generated; I suppose apache needs
 tweaking).

Then, but this is getting more into the scope of 173960, some advice
or cookbook on how to set up (what directory? what ownership and
 permissions?) would be good too.

Sorry for the long silence. If I understand correctly, you are
suggesting something like bash's README.Debian has, documenting
choices made during packaging. Sounds like a good idea; retitling as
a reminder for the future.

Meanwhile the need to help people get started with their own svn
servers is documented in Bug#173960, as you mentioned.

Care to suggest wording for either? Realistically speaking, that's
the simplest way to get this fixed soon and well. :)

Thanks,
Jonathan

Bug#635169: [libsoundtouch0] Support multiarch: same

2011-07-23 Thread gregory hainaut
Package: libsoundtouch0
Version: 1.6.0-1.2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Dears Maintainers,

Could you support multiarch : same for libsoundtouch package.
http://wiki.debian.org/Multiarch/Implementation

I attach 2 patches.
1/ multiarch_soundtouch_v8.patch
* Drop lib32 package. No package depends on it. So it can directly
replaced by libsoundtouch0:i386. Be aware that current dpkg version
does not support fully multiarch (only a dev branch, Ubuntu is fine)
and therefore it will not possible to install libsoundtouch0:i386 on a
  default Debian.
* Bump debhhelper version, add multiarch specific field in control files
* move /usr/lib/* to /usr/lib/$DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH/

2/ multiarch_soundtouch_v8_to_v9.patch
For the moment, debhelper v9 compatibility is experimental but it
reduces multiarch work. This patch is optional. The intent was to show
you the impact of debhelper v9.

Bug#635170: ITP: ocaml-config-file -- OCaml library for managing configuration files

2011-07-23 Thread Stéphane Glondu
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Stéphane Glondu glo...@debian.org

* Package name: ocaml-config-file
  Version : 1.0
Upstream Author : Maxence Guesdon maxence.gues...@inria.fr
* URL : http://config-file.forge.ocamlcore.org/
* License : LGPL-2+
  Programming Lang: OCaml
Description : OCaml library for managing configuration files

Config_file is an OCaml library used to manage the configuration
file(s) of an application. You simply define your options and it
performs the loading and saving of the options. Each option is
defined from an option class (for example an int option) or from a
combination of classes (for example to create list of int options).

This library used to be part of cameleon, but has been split out, and
is a new dependency of the new upstream version 1.9.21.

Bug#635171: gnome-shell depends on obseleted ( no longer available) libmozjs4d

2011-07-23 Thread Roger Ricardo Moore
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.0.2-1
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream
Justification: renders package unusable

libmozjs4d has been obseleted and removed from the debian repositories (I
believe due to a security vulnerability). Other packages that depended on it
such as gjs and libgjs0b have been re-built against libmozjs5d. Unfortunately
gnome-shell is still built against libmozjs4d and depends on it.

As a result gnome-shell is now uninstallable from the debian repositories.

Please re-build / re-define dependencies against libmozjs5d (or indeed
libmozjs6d).

N.B. I have not tried downloading the source and re-building it myself, since I
still have a copy of libmozjs4d installed, so I'm not sure if it is that simple
:)

 Upstream bug: http://subversion.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=3489

Upstream explains further:

| Note that pre-1.6.5 behaviour was inconsistent. For some commands
| you had to escape the @ character, for some not. 1.6.5 makes this consistent,
| they always need to be escaped, so your script can work fine without having

| So besides the main goal of making svn follow documented behaviour,

Marking accordingly and cc-ing Kazuhiro-san.

Bug#635111: Acknowledgement (libnss3-1d: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/lib/libnss3.so in 3.12.10-2 )

2011-07-23 Thread The Wanderer

Apparently people are ahead of me, and somehow I'm not being notified of changes
to the bug even though I reported it (?).

Yes, changing the path in /etc/java-6-openjdk/security/nss.cfg makes this work
again.

Last night when I tried this it didn't seem to work; I got an actual crash, with
*** glibc detected *** java: free(): invalid next size (fast):
0x7fb9a8509bf0 ***, but today that does not happen. I think that crash may
have happened while I still had incorrect remnants of an earlier attempt to fix
the problem still in place.

I agree, on further information this does seem to be a problem with openjdk
rather than with libnss3.

Bug#635161: open-iscsi: add a udeb

Hi,

Once this has landed, I'll merge the partman-iscsi work I've done into
 the d-i repository.

I was wondering why the upstream iscsistart is not included in the udeb.

That way it would be possible to simply call iscsistart -b if an iBFT table
is present to auto-configure the iSCSI settings, without having to prompt the
user.

Bug#635172: clementine do not respect user locale

2011-07-23 Thread Klaus Ethgen
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

Package: clementine
Version: 0.7.1+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

My locale is de_DE, as you can see below. In additional I set
G_FILENAME_ENCODING=@locale to fix gtk applications. So my locale and
the locale of my filesystem is ISO-8859-1.

But when I try to play a file with a valid latin1 character like german
umlauts the file is not played. In any case (start the playback from
commandline or start it via graphical frontend) the file is displayed
correct but clementine tries to access the file to play using UTF-8
which is not correct. Funny is that the display also display the mp3
tags correct so the file handling is not always broken.

Bug#635173: ufsutils: mkfs.ufs and libufs not functional under standard Linux: could not find special device

2011-07-23 Thread Elie De Brauwer
Package: ufsutils
Version: 8.2-1
Severity: important

ufsutils version 7.1-2 exposed a similar bug which was reported/fixed in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=526586 and the problem I am
experiencing is very closely related (if not exactly the same).

Let's create a blockdevice to get started with:

edb@lapedb:~$ sudo modprobe rd
edb@lapedb:~$ ls -hal /dev/ram0
brw-rw 1 root disk 1, 0 Jul 23 13:35 /dev/ram0

This gives us the following behavior:

edb@lapedb:~$ sudo mkfs.ufs -O 2 -J -N /dev/sdb5
mkfs.ufs: /dev/sdb5: could not find special device
edb@lapedb:~$ sudo ffsinfo /dev/ram0
ffsinfo: ufs_disk_fillout(/dev/ram0) failed: could not find special device:
Success
edb@lapedb:~$ sudo dumpfs.ufs /dev/ram0
dumpfs.ufs: /dev/ram0: could not find special device

A clear pattern is emerging.

When looking at an strace, we can clearly see it fails after a stat (and after
reading /etc/fstab):

stat64(/dev/sdb5, {st_mode=S_IFBLK|0660, st_rdev=makedev(8, 21), ...}) = 0
brk(0) = 0x920d000
brk(0x922f000) = 0x922f000
open(/etc/fstab, O_RDONLY)= 3
fstat64(3, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=665, ...}) = 0
mmap2(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) =
0xb776b000
read(3, # /etc/fstab: static file system..., 4096) = 665
read(3, , 4096) = 0
write(2, mkfs.ufs: , 10mkfs.ufs: ) = 10
write(2, /dev/sdb5: could not find specia..., 40/dev/sdb5: could not find
special device) = 40
write(2, \n, 1
) = 1
exit_group(1) = ?

After apt-get source ufsutils and running a make (btw I need to specify
CC=gcc-4.4 since gcc-4.6.1 is complaining a lot and even then I need to comment
some things out to build and link properly). Then a gdb shows the following
(after a breakpoint in stat):

(gdb)
0x0804f0ec in stat ()
(gdb) n
Single stepping until exit from function stat,
which has no line number information.
ufs_disk_fillout_blank (disk=0x8054ce0, name=0xbe15 /dev/sdb5) at
type.c:111
111 if (ret = 0  S_ISREG(st.st_mode)) {
(gdb) print name
$1 = 0xbe15 /dev/sdb5
(gdb) print st
$2 = {st_dev = 5, __pad1 = 0, st_ino = 218104, st_mode = 25008, st_nlink = 1,
st_uid = 0, st_gid = 25, st_rdev = 2069, __pad2 = 0,
  st_size = 0, st_blksize = 4096, st_blocks = 0, st_atim = {tv_sec =
1311416552, tv_nsec = 146218743}, st_mtim = {
tv_sec = 1311416552, tv_nsec = 146218743}, st_ctim = {tv_sec = 1311416552,
tv_nsec = 146218743}, __unused4 = 0, __unused5 = 0}
(gdb) s
117 } else if ((fs = getfsfile(name)) != NULL) {
(gdb) n
128 } else if (ret = 0  S_ISDIR(st.st_mode)) {
(gdb) quit

But this again points to type.c and near line 114 this shows:

 } else if (ret = 0 (S_ISCHR(st.st_mode) S_ISBLK(st.st_mode))

(which is already a debian specific patch (ref
ufsutils-8.2/debian/patches/01_libufs.patch) which contains the following:

-   } else if (ret = 0  S_ISCHR(st.st_mode)) {
+   } else if (ret = 0  (S_ISCHR(st.st_mode)  S_ISBLK(st.st_mode))) {
/* This is what we need, do nothing. */
;

However, as far as my humble knowledge goes, I don't see how a /dev entry can
be both a character _and_ a block device (hence a logical || instead of a
might be more suitable in that patch).

For my local testing I just hacked the following in there (which works for me,
but probably fails on *BSD, judging form the previous bugreport).

} else if (ret = 0  (S_ISBLK(st.st_mode))) {
/* This is what we need, do nothing. */
;

And when I rebuild this and test this locally, then everybody is happy:

lapedb:/tmp/ufsutils-8.2# ./sbin/newfs/mkfs.ufs /dev/ram0
/dev/ram0: 8.0MB (16384 sectors) block size 16384, fragment size 2048
using 4 cylinder groups of 2.02MB, 129 blks, 320 inodes.
super-block backups (for fsck -b #) at:
 160, 4288, 8416, 12544

my 2 cents
E.

Bug#635174: gjs: Version 1.29.0-1 breaks gnome-shell startup

2011-07-23 Thread Christian von Kietzell
Package: gjs
Version: 0.7.14-1
Severity: important

Upgrading to version 1.29.0-1 makes gnome-shell segfault at startup. I'm not
sure GJs is really the culprit but downgrading to 0.7.14-1 makes the problem go
away, so I'm reporting it against this package. Please reassign if that's not
correct.

The error in syslog says the following:

Bug#628702: New release changes ICD dependencies

2011-07-23 Thread Tomasz Rybak
Hello.
New PyOpenCL version (2011.1.2) is in Debian.
I have changed OpenCL-related dependencies.
Now, instead of requiring NVIDIA libopencl, package depends on virtual
opencl-icd, and different packages can provide it.
Package still contains build-dependency on NVIDIA's libopencl-dev.

Please test whether this is the correct run-time solution for this
bug, and if so, whether this bug can be closed or should I wait
for non-NVIDIA OpenCL libraries to also fix build-dependencies.

Best regards.

adding the line

to the startup script (/usr/share/sweethome3d/sweethome3d.sh) allows

18 days is a few, I guess. :) Any news from upstream?

I think I already replied on irc, but upstream committed a fix (see
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7787 and
http://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-dev-tools/commit/?id=f2eb2c2e9ca7d042eb35fa56f392df4dbaf9924c)

I'm no too sure when the next x-d-t will be release but backporting the
patch should be easy. Then it should be possible in relevant packages to
run xtd-autogen before configure.

Bug#632030: [Pkg-xfce-devel] Question about weird mouse pointer thing (Bug #632030)

 Hello XFCE maintainers.

A short while ago I filed bug #632030 for libxcursor1 assuming it was a
problem with selection of the correct icons.

Michel Dänzer arrived at the conclusion that the problem might rather be
related to xfwm4 or maybe GTK. He suggested asking you about it.

Interestingly, the problem goes away when I run

   xfwm4 --replace

What is your opinion? Is it an xfwm thingy?

My guess is that the xressources aren't loaded correctly before xfwm4 is
started. As Xressources are only used for program started *after* they
are loaded, the fact that restarting xfwm4 fixes the issue means they
are loaded too late.

Can you check in gdm3 that the session you are using is “Xfce Session”
and not default X session or something like that (no idea how it's
called in gdm3).

Since the last upgrade the panel is not drawn correctly. The top few
pixels are not drawn, when I activate a button and remove the mouse again
the top pixels are drawn, when I change the desktop they are gone again.

I hope this screenshot illustrates what I am trying to describe:
 http://a10i.net/tmp/xfce4-panel.png

This shows a panel that sits at the top of my screen. I've moved my mouse
over the geany icon (the golden teapot-like thing) first, thus redrawing
those pixels and then on the mousepad icon (little writing pad).

I've tried changing the panel size, but that does not affect this
 behaviour.

Hmh, I never experienced something like that. Can you tell us what GTK+
theme you use, and try changing it?

I had to follow the routine several times, partially removing and re-inserting
the SDHC card each time to get Thunar to recognize it.
When it does occur, the error is a dialog message-box with no frame title, a
body heading of 'Failed to open directory CANON_DC.' above the text
Permission denied., followed by a [x]Close button.

Could you take a screenshot? It doesn't look like a thunar window, it
might be something launched by thunar-volman (like a photo importer or
something). Is volume management enabled in thunar properties? Can you
try disabling it and/or see if there's something related to photo
capture in the preferences?
