Oops. I meant to try it in the hypervisor - so right after placeholder add
 xsave=0

Which in grub2 means add GRUB_CMDLINE_XEN=xsave=0 to /etc/default/grub
(there is no commented out example in this case) and re-run update-grub.

I believe this is a kernel bug because when I boot up with a vanilla 2.6.38
kernel from kernel.org, it works as expected (I insert the CDROM and I can
access the videos on the disk).

Does this only happen with this CD-ROM or with all CDs?

Could you try a 3.x kernel from wheezy, sid, or experimental and let
us know how it behaves? The only updated packages from outside stable
that should be needed in order to try it are linux-base and
initramfs-tools.

It would also be interesting to test some intermediate versions like
2.6.33 and 2.6.35 from http://snapshot.debian.org/, to see when the
fix was introduced.

Thanks for a clear report,
Jonathan

Bug#644678: python-launchpadlib: uses $HOME instead of os.path.expanduser

2011-10-08 Thread Paul Wise
Package: python-launchpadlib
Version: 1.9.9-1
Severity: normal

When using python-launchpadlib without the HOME environment variable set
and without a cache directory set (such as in a CGI process), the lib
crashes because it cannot find the HOME environment variable. You should
always use os.path.expanduser rather than os.environ['HOME'] because it
behaves nicely when $HOME is not set and also behaves nicely on non-Unix
platforms.

Thanks for your efforts.

I'm unfortunately not much available these days to help reviewing, but
helping on phpunit is on my todo for the quieter times ahead (probably
around end of this months).

And now, I'm a DD, so I could in principle help a bit more than in the
past... if only I get rid of the annoying work backlog.

I consider these false-positives, because the files are for testing
purposes only. (Since the tag causes fatal auto-reject, it's quite
important to avoid false-positives...) I propose to exclude all
 test_*_pyc.py[co] files from the check.

Hi,

I am not entirely convinced here. I agree that false-positives for
auto-reject tags are bad and we should keep them to an absolute minimum.
However, poking a bit in the jython source package I learned that some
of these (if not all) appears to be unit tests. I guess these are not
meant to be installed in the binary package.

I say we re-assign this to Jython for now. If these tests serve a real
purpose at runtime for Jython, we can always make the exception there.

Really weird - since the package build-depends on liblcms2-dev!

What is the output of these commands:

This behavior is common to many web browsers (it is mandated by
W3C standards, if I recall correctly) and Midori is no exception.

However, Galeon, Iceweasel, and also Chromium remember visited
links (and continue to show them in visited link style) across
sessions, as long as the visited page is present in the browser
history. This is not the case for Midori (or for Epiphany,
for that matter): visited links seem to be forgotten, as soon as
 I quit Midori.

This is unpractical, as I find it useful to clearly see which links
I have already visited during recent browsing sessions (say,
in the past few days or weeks).

Is this an intended behavior or a bug?

To be honest I'm not sure. But it seems here it doesn't even change
color when I click on links so it might just be broken.

Bug#644626: [Piuparts-devel] Bug#644626: piuparts: Testing package data compression

2011-10-08 Thread Holger Levsen
Hi Mats,

On Freitag, 7. Oktober 2011, Mats Erik Andersson wrote:
Would it be possible, and suitable, to have Piuparts implement
an examination of the compression type used on a package?

I'm not sure it would be suitable.. as one could see in the bugs you
mentioned, those bugs are detected manually very fast, as they completly break
d-i/debootstrap.

While on the other hand...

To prevent bugs like those mentioned, one would need to
identify which compression types the bootstrapper supports
in the installer at all times

how would you do that?

, and one would need to keep
track of which dependencies are brought in by the installer.

how would you do that? (I think thats easier than the former, but still...)

This latter information should be readily available already,
or at least traceable, and the first piece of information
 is even simpler to register.

probably. but then it's also easy to setup a daily cronjob which runs
debootstrap :-)

Also/but I think the correct solution is to setup automated d-i installation
tests, (and not to add more functionality to piuparts which is basically
outside of piuparts scope).

There is a lot more which can go wrong in d-i (ie breakage of common tasks),
and IMHO there should be automatic tests to detect those.

So I'm very tempted to close this bug as wontfix. Comments from other people
reading this?

cheers,
Holger

Bug#617763: rebuild?

2011-10-08 Thread Yusuf Iskenderoglu
Hello,

This bug is still open since the 11th of March, nothing has happend
since the 28th of August.

Can someone please give us an outlook about what is hindering an
apparently simple rebuild of this package?

Best regards,
Y.

Luca, I had been working on the ghex and nemiver updates some a few
weeks ago before realizing that gtksourceviewmm needed updating in
Debian first. Well, that's happened now and I hope you don't mind that
I've pushed my nemiver work to your git repository.

Bug#644680: cups: Does not find my HP LaserJet 1200 in the net after update to 1.5.0

2011-10-08 Thread Andreas Tscharner
Package: cups
Version: 1.5.0-8
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After the update to version 1.5.0 I can no longer use my HP LaserJet 1200.

After the update, the printer was still listed, but showed errors when
trying to print on. So I deleted it and tried to re-install it again, but
it is no longer shown as found in the network (I use the web interface on
localhost:631).

Configuration: HP LaserJet 1200 series on a parallel cable connected to
   netGear PrintServer ps110

I can ping to the print server, but it is not found by cups and all
attempts to manually adding it failed.

It is aleady finished and I could bet I uploaded it. It seems my internet

That's no problem at all! It took me not that much time to package it

remove it again from our pkg-perl Repository.

Thanks for your work too Alexander!
Suggestions added and uploaded.

You know according to xorg, xorg.conf file doesn't exist in /etc/X11 and we

Bug#644685: liboss4-salsa-dev: Please stop providing libasound-dev

2011-10-08 Thread Jordi Mallach
Package: liboss4-salsa-dev
Version: 4.2-build2004-1
Severity: important

For whatever reason, liboss4-salsa-dev Provides: libasound2-dev _and_
libasound-dev, instead of just the former. This makes some packages still
build-depending on libasound-dev unintentionally build against OSS4
instead of libasound2.

I plan to stop providing libasound-dev in libasound2-dev, as libasound-dev
has been unavailable in Debian for over 8 years, and will file bugs for
every package declaring B-Ds on that so they switch to just
libasound2-dev, as it should be.

Before I can do that, though, you need to stop providing libasound-dev
too, or I won't fix anything that isn't broken right now.

Thanks!

Bug#640737: [copyright-format] Format URL and installation on www.debian.org

2011-10-08 Thread Charles Plessy
tag 640737 + patch
thanks

Dear all,

to summarise:

 * http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/copyright-format/version/ will
allow the copyright-format specification to become a multi-page HTML
document if
it gets significantly expanded, but on the other hand, somebody downloading
the
current one-page spec will get a file called ‘index.html’.

 * Rebuilding the distributed document at each upload may cause it to change in
layout or in checksum, but on the other hand ensures that it is continuously
   buildable.

My point of view is that the copyright-format specification is not likely to be
enlarged to the point of neeeding to separate its chapters in different files
(there is SPDX…) and that the source document uses only simple DocBook 4.5 tags
which makes it very unlikely to become unbuildable with the default XSL
stylesheet it uses. Moreover, I am biased by the culture in my profession to
not change even a single comma of a published work, so my personnal preference
would have been to distribute files like copyright-format-1.0.html, committed
with their source in the debian-policy Git repository. This said, this point of
view had no support from other participants in this discussion.

So I propose to do the following, in line with the other propositions.

 a) Apply the attached patch to point at
http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/copyright-format/1.0/ in the spec.

 b) When the 1.0 version is finalised, (re)build at each upload
copyright-format/copyright-format.xml,
copyright-format/copyright-format-1.0.xml, and so on for the future
revisions.

 c) Distribute the versionned and unversionned HTML and text builds in the
debian-policy binary package. (Assuming that if since nobody proposed to
stop
distributing the unversionned build, it is that people want it to stay).

I will propose a patch to implement the building and distribution of released
versions and current draft, but before doing so, I would like to know if it
would be acceptable to have them in /usr/share/doc/debian-policy, or if the
published versions should be in a separate directory.

Have a nice day,

Bug#644686: xorg: constantly uses 30-100% of CPU with KDE and nVidia propietary drivers

2011-10-08 Thread Grzegorz Andruszkiewicz
Package: xorg
Version: 1:7.6+9
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
A recent update of both proprietary nVidia driver as well as xorg itself
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Whatever I do the system is extremely unresponsive. top shows that xorg is
using all the cpu cycles. All the KDE applications are especially affected, GTK
based apps behave (almost) as they should.

Please let me know if you need more info.

Bug#618675: postgresql: Please include systemd service file

2011-10-08 Thread Martin Pitt
Hello Michael,

Martin Pitt [2011-03-27 17:22 +0200]:
Reassigning to postgresql-common, as the script looks like being
inteded to be version independent (just like the current init.d
 script).

Also, it starts quite a bit faster due to not having to run a shell
script and a perl script (pg_ctlcluster).

This does need to use pg_ctlcluster, I'm afraid. With the proposed
service file you'd break the postgresql-common structure completely,
 i. e. it disregards multiple clusters, cluster owners, data
dir/start.conf and other configuration, and also circumvent the sanity
 checks.

Any update on this? If not, I'll just close the bug.

Thanks, and enjoy the weekend!

Bug#644700: Preferences aren't loaded (with external HD)

2011-10-08 Thread Pietro Battiston
Package: deja-dup
Version: 18.1.1-2.1
Severity: important

I have (since months) deja-dup configured to backup on an external drive;
preferences are correct (seems so) in gconf, but when I open deja-dup (in any
way, be it to backup or restore), it starts as if it was unconfigured (asking
me i.e. to configure the Amazon account).

Attached is the output of gconftool --dump /apps/deja-dup.

The bug looks similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/deja-dup/+bug/774897 , but
not really the same (deja-dup never crashed to me, and on the other hand the
workaround didn't work for me).

I also tried to recompile applying the attached patch (coming from the Ubuntu
package), but with no luck.

So at the moment I'm unable to backup/restore anything.

Bug#644701: libfile-which-perl: package description

2011-10-08 Thread Martin Eberhard Schauer

Package: libfile-which-perl
Version: 1.08-1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainers,
working on the translation of the package description to German I found
an issue,

at least for me ;-) The former translation was plain wrong.

I believe rewording the description (1) will make it better comprehensible.

Description: Perl module for searching paths for executable programs
File::Which searches directories of a user's PATH (as returned by
File::Spec)

and looks for executable files having the name specified as a parameter to
which(), simulating the behaviour of the standard `which' program.

Obiously we find upstream's (2) wording:

DESCRIPTION
File::Which was created to be able to get the paths to executable
programs on systems under which the `which' program wasn't implemented
in the shell.
** File::Which searches the directories of the user's PATH (as returned
by File::Spec-path()), looking for executable files having the name
specified as a parameter to which(). ** Under Win32 systems, which do
not have a notion of directly executable files, but uses special
extensions such as .exe and .bat to identify them, File::Which takes
extra steps to assure that you will find the correct file (so for
example, you might be searching for perl, it'll try perl.exe, perl.bat,
etc.)

The way I understand the description, the following might be an alternative

File::Which simulates the behavior of the standard 'which' program: it
searches directories of a user's PATH (as returned by File::Spec)
 and looks for executable files.

Kind regards
   Martin

Bug#611493: Further investigations

2011-10-08 Thread Pascal BERNARD
Hi,

Recently, my system had more and more difficulties to boot and ended up
with no network connection (no /dev/eth0). So I decided to reinstall the
whole system on a native partition on another disk, leaving only /home
on the lvm/raid0.

Again, I fail to boot (see initram shell dmesg attached + mounts
+ /dev/mapper contents). This has been systematic while booting in
rescue mode is fine. Not very handy, but I boot in rescue mode, log in
as root and init 4. So far it works.

There must be something that the initram script does not do too well
which is revealed by my computer. I will investigate the difference
between quiet and single options.

Please let me know if you have other suggestions,

Pascal

Bug#617653: Could you please apply the patch?

2011-10-08 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Hi,

Vladimir 'φ-coder/phcoder' Serbinenko phco...@gmail.com (07/10/2011):
Could you please apply the patch
 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=10;filename=xorg-patch.diff;att=1;bug=617653
This crash gets more and more annoying

we usually ask reporters to get their patches reviewed/applied upstream
instead of doing so in our own distro corner. We are also low-powered,
which can explain the lack of replies on this or that bug. See that doc
to get your patch merged upstream:
  http://wiki.x.org/wiki/Development/Documentation/SubmittingPatches

Cc'ing back the bug for further reference.

KiBi.

To be honest I'm not sure. But it seems here it doesn't even change
color when I click on links so it might just be broken.

I also have noticed that, in some cases (the Debian BTS web pages being
one notable example!), visited links fail to change style at all.
I was planning to file this misbehavior as a separate bug report, but I
need to test other browsers first, since it could be due to a different
problem (maybe in WebKit, so perhaps I should file the report against
source package webkitgtk+)...

Please let me know, if you have any specific suggestion.

Bug#578787: Fwd: [Open Octave Development] New Anouncement List

2011-10-08 Thread Reinhard Tartler

Hi,

it seems to me we don't even have the package in Debian yet, altough
there is an ITP (#578787), and a git repo:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-multimedia/oomidi.git

It seems to me that 'oomidi' might not be the best name for the
package. How about renaming it to openoctave?

Just to clarify, Jonas, Adrian, are you still interested and working on
the package? I personally won't have time and hardware to work on it,
but it seems to me that the package is a bit in the limbo since April.

In any case, I think a working package and a watch file is more useful
for pkg-multimedia than subscribing to yet another mailinglist. But YMMV.

Cheers,
Reinhard

Bug#644706: banshee: crash when loading a song

2011-10-08 Thread Piotr Drozdek
Package: banshee
Version: 2.2.0-1
Severity: important

Hi there,
After last system updates (Debian Testing) today I discovered that my Banshee
is completely unusable. Yesterday It was running fine.

There's dpkg.log, which shows, what exactly changed in my system (before
update, it was fine!):
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=ndkrXvXV

There's 3 complete debug logs from banshee crashes:
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=1sCCert0
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=KTzJukBg
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=KXGWN9gQ

How to reproduce:
Open Banshee. Double click on one of your smart playlist (for example).
Music should play now, first track.
What's happening: Banshee closed instantly with crash output in terminal.

I'm using up-to-date Debian Testing AMD64 system.

I hope those information may be helpful on fixing those problems.

Bug#644676: subtitleeditor: Keyboard configuration breaks between 0.30 and 0.39

2011-10-08 Thread Philip Rinn
tags 636117 moreinfo unreproducible
thanks

Hi Christian,

sorry I can't reproduce this behaviour. I installed 0.30 and added some keyboard
shortcuts. Then I updated to 0.39 and all shortcuts are still working even
those I
added manually. The shortcuts are stored in
~/.config/subtitleeditor/default/accelmap and I don't see any difference in the
format between 0.30 and 0.39.
Do you sill have your old accelmap so I could spot if the format changed
somehow?

Best regards,
Philip

Now I reread all bug entries and tried to download

However, I try the current installed version (3.0.0~dfsg1-1) and get the

Bug#644626: [Piuparts-devel] Bug#644626: piuparts: Testing package data compression

2011-10-08 Thread Mats Erik Andersson
Dear Holger,

lördag den 8 oktober 2011 klockan 10:39 skrev Holger Levsen detta:
 Hi Mats,

On Freitag, 7. Oktober 2011, Mats Erik Andersson wrote:
Would it be possible, and suitable, to have Piuparts implement
an examination of the compression type used on a package?

I'm not sure it would be suitable.. as one could see in the bugs you
mentioned, those bugs are detected manually very fast, as they completly
 break
 d-i/debootstrap.

Yes, but they did so because the three packages were built
in way that would predictably break the bootstraping stage.

libacl1 and libattr1 were blockers for thirteen days,
the time span for libgssglue1 cannot be determined
from its changelog alone. Personally, I would have wanted
an automatic detection that sent a warning to the
maintainer almost immediately after the upload into
the unstable pool.

 While on the other hand...

To prevent bugs like those mentioned, one would need to
identify which compression types the bootstrapper supports
in the installer at all times

 how would you do that?

A human statement regarding compression capabilities found in
the debian-installer and possibly a verification that the
packages brought in by deboostrap-base did not add some
further decompression facilities. An automatic detection
is probably beyond reach.

, and one would need to keep
track of which dependencies are brought in by the installer.

how would you do that? (I think thats easier than the former, but still...)

Examine the dependency tree present in the debootstrap-base.
This is the installer step that broke in both the cited bugs.

The resolution of this bzcat bug family was delayed by the weak error
message produced by debootstrap. (I will file a wishlist bug on this.)
Thus an automated installation test would only tell that something
was broken, but it would not have given pointers to the three library
packages. Only curiosity and some inspired manual inspection brought
the culprits to daylight.

There is a lot more which can go wrong in d-i (ie breakage of common tasks),
and IMHO there should be automatic tests to detect those.

So I'm very tempted to close this bug as wontfix. Comments from other people
 reading this?

You are most probably correct in both these respects. But the ball
might now be rolling.

Regards,
  Mats E A

Hi Klaus,

Now I reread all bug entries and tried to download
http://minus.com/mcElMTq but there is only a message about javascript
 visible and nothing to download.
Well you need to enable javascript to see the download. I just downloaded it
with
no problem. I could send you the file it's about 2.5 MB large - just tell me.

However, I try the current installed version (3.0.0~dfsg1-1) and get the
 following:
Thanks for the additional info I posted it upstream. I hope we'll be able to
find
the problem but getting the debug output would be better.

Best regards,

Does sysstat even work on kernels other than Linux? It looks very

If it's not intended for !Linux platforms, it should be made linux-any instead.

Bug#644716: synapse: Missing french translation after upgrade

2011-10-08 Thread Julien Eula
Package: synapse
Version: 0.2.8.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading synapse from 0.2.6x to the 0.2.8.1-1 currently in wheezy,
the program's interface is no longer translated into french.

I don't know whether it is a build issue of if it's related to the upstream
source, but this is a regression since synapse 0.2.6 was correctly
displaying the french translation.
Translation status on the project's launchpad page looks ok (French: 97%),
so I wonder if we could get the translation in the official debian package?

Thanks.

Julien

Bug#644717: scans UNRELATED filesystems for DCIM directory

2011-10-08 Thread Eduard Bloch
Package: gvfs-backends
Version: 1.6.4-4
Severity: important

Every time I attach my camera, all attahched USB disks are woken up
(lenghty spinup). I traced this back to some stupid program which scans
ALL filesystems looking for /dcim or /DCIM directories. And it seems to
be caused by gvfs-* because removing the package and killing all gvfs...
processes makes the problem go away.

So the questions are... why does it scan totally unrelated filesystems?
And why does it do this nonsense whatsoever? It's a PTP class device,
there is no USB mass storage filesystem where you could search.

Regards,
Eduard.

Bug#644669: freebsd-utils: Consider importing iostat from upstream

2011-10-08 Thread Mats Erik Andersson
lördag den 8 oktober 2011 klockan 13:55 skrev Robert Millan detta:
 2011/10/8 Mats Erik Andersson mats.anders...@gisladisker.se:
A priori the package sysstat installs the file /usr/bin/iostat
at the most natural location for Debian. Observe, however, that FreeBSD
locates its native executable in /usr/sbin/iostat.

Does sysstat even work on kernels other than Linux? It looks very
 Linux-specific.

If it's not intended for !Linux platforms, it should be made linux-any
 instead.

Well, I have sysstat_9.0.6.1-2 running on kfreebsd-amd64. Without
having examined all options, the only deficiency I know is its
inability to produce disk statistics. On the other hand, the most
recent version 10.0.2-1 was changed to linux-any.

I gather sysstat would require compatibility files in linprocfs
to run properly on kfreebsd-any.

Re: Martin Pitt 2011-08-27 20110827132931.gj2...@piware.de
Please rebuild this package against postgresql-server-dev-9.1 instead
of -8.4, or consider just using postgresql-server-dev-all.

Hi Robert,

here's an NMU that uses pg_buildext to automatically build packages
for all supported versions. I'll upload it to delayed/0.

Btw, I'd also be willing to take over maintenance of this package
under the pkg-postgresql umbrella. (Either completely or as a
co-maintainer.)

Bug#644701: libfile-which-perl: package description

2011-10-08 Thread Justin B Rye
Martin Eberhard Schauer wrote:
I believe rewording the description (1) will make it better comprehensible.

Description: Perl module for searching paths for executable programs
File::Which searches directories of a user's PATH (as returned by File::Spec)
and looks for executable files having the name specified as a parameter to
which(), simulating the behaviour of the standard `which' program.

Do you mean you were having trouble with the syntax, and the ambiguity
about which of the previously mentioned goings-on was being referred
to as simulating the behaviour of the standard `which' program? Or
is it the content that's a problem?

Obiously we find upstream's (2) wording:

 DESCRIPTION
File::Which was created to be able to get the paths to executable
programs on systems under which the `which' program wasn't
 implemented in the shell.

Implemented in the shell seems (from the description below) to be a
factual error not present in the Debian package description's account.
The only shell I know of with a which builtin is zsh, but if that's
missing Perl would be perfectly capable of using /usr/bin/which
(provided by the Essential package debianutils).

** File::Which searches the directories of the user's PATH (as
returned by File::Spec-path()), looking for executable files having
the name specified as a parameter to which(). ** Under Win32
systems, which do not have a notion of directly executable files,
but uses special extensions such as .exe and .bat to identify them,
File::Which takes extra steps to assure that you will find the
correct file (so for example, you might be searching for perl, it'll
 try perl.exe, perl.bat, etc.)

So it's a safety-net to ensure the availability of a command that on
Debian is guaranteed to be available anyway? In other words, it's a
module that exists only so that it can be listed in the dependencies
of software that wants to have the same dependencies on Windows and
Linux? If so, it might be helpful if the package description said so.

The way I understand the description, the following might be an alternative

Turning it round this way should remove the ambiguity mentioned above,
yes.

File::Which simulates the behavior of the standard 'which' program: it
searches directories of a user's PATH (as returned by File::Spec)
  and looks for executable files.

It doesn't just return success if it finds any executables in PATH
directories; it looks for particular command names. You might
abbreviate it to looking for executable files matching a given name,
though.

Bug#644718: kfreebsd-8: /proc/net/dev gives empty statistics

2011-10-08 Thread Mats Erik Andersson
Package: kfreebsd-8
Version: 8.2-7
Severity: normal
Tags: pending

The linprocfs entry in /proc/net/dev reports zero at
every item in the table. A solution for this was accepted
a merged by upstream as revision r218114.

The patch is reported as originally tested by myself
(and it is productive in 8.1+dfsg-7.1mea2), so we keep
this bug for the record. The next kernel kfreebsd-9
is properly built with this compatibility file.

Bug#633493: remove configuration to clear

2011-10-08 Thread jidanni
YP So you're basically telling it's not a bug but you did that yourself?

It is very much a bug.
If somehow something is disabled (who knows how?), there is no mention that it
is
disabled. Instead one is told to download a new version, unlike Firefox.
Also just doing
$ midori
and looking through the menus, one does not find a disable/enable button
either.

Bug#644451: sa-learn-cyrus: Version 0.3.4+dfsg1 dropped, virtual_user patch, breaking existing configurations.

2011-10-08 Thread Hans-Juergen Beie

This is upstream talking ...

BTW: From my point of view this is not a bug but a request for a new
feature.

David already contacted me about this and sent me a patch against 0.3.2.

As far as I can see, this new feature/option virtual_config_dir can be
integrated in sa-learn-cyrus without breaking anything else.

I asked David to send me a patch against 0.3.4.
Having this I would release sa-learn-cyrus-0.3.5 after a short time of
testing.

Is that OK?

Bug#644720: fglrx-control depends on fglrx-driver, but fglrx can be installed using dkms

2011-10-08 Thread Fernando Cerezal
Package: fglrx-control
Version: fglrx-control
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
on updating my system, a new version of
xserver-xorg-core (2:1.11.1-1) uninstalls all fglrx packages (perhaps fglrx
team and xorg team should synchronize their updates).
Manually I installed new versions of fglrx-packages and
I installed fglrx driver using fglrx-modules-dkms, so now I have installed
fglrx again.
However, I cant install fglrx-control for using catalyst configure interface.
This is caused by fglrx-control depends on fglrx-driver, and this one depends
on xserver-xorg-core 2:1.10.99. I think fglrx-control should depends on
fglrx-driver | fglrx-modules-dkms.

Thank you very much for all your work.

 Yes, kind-of expected.

Do you know what's the correct way to handle different symbols on
different archs, without generating one symbols file per arch?

You can annotate it with (arch=!s390 !...|optional) I think.

See geotranz for example. (But that's C++.)

Kind regards,

Package: fglrx-control
Version: fglrx-control
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
on updating my system, a new version of
xserver-xorg-core (2:1.11.1-1) uninstalls all fglrx packages (perhaps fglrx
team and xorg team should synchronize their updates).
Manually I installed new versions of fglrx-packages and
I installed fglrx driver using fglrx-modules-dkms, so now I have installed
fglrx again.
However, I cant install fglrx-control for using catalyst configure interface.
This is caused by fglrx-control depends on fglrx-driver, and this one depends
on xserver-xorg-core 2:1.10.99. I think fglrx-control should depends on
fglrx-driver | fglrx-modules-dkms.

Thank you very much for all your work.

It does not work with the new Xorg

Bug#644723: util-linux: /sbin/fsck fails with undefined symbol: set_com_err_gettext

2011-10-08 Thread Bernhard Trummer
Package: util-linux
Version: 2.19.1-5
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropiate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Updating some packages via dselect.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Shutting down the system normally and restarting it some hours later.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

The system doesn't boot up because /sbin/fsck.ext3 (a symlink to /sbin/fsck)
fails with the following error message:

fsck from util-linux 2.19.1
fsck.ext3: symbol lookup error: fsck.ext3: undefined symbol:
set_com_err_gettext

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

A normal boot process. :-)

As workaround, I booted from the debian installer CD and replaced my system's
/sbin/fsck binary with the installer's one (explaining the debsums errors
found).

Bug#644451: sa-learn-cyrus: Version 0.3.4+dfsg1 dropped, virtual_user patch, breaking existing configurations.

BTW: From my point of view this is not a bug but a request for a new
 feature.

David already contacted me about this and sent me a patch against 0.3.2.

As far as I can see, this new feature/option virtual_config_dir can
be integrated in sa-learn-cyrus without breaking anything else.

I asked David to send me a patch against 0.3.4.
Having this I would release sa-learn-cyrus-0.3.5 after a short time
 of testing.

 Is that OK?

For me? Sure! Sounds perfectly reasonable.

Hauke

PS: You had some dotfiles (some Apple generated stuff?) in your 0.3.4
tarball. Could you make sure this doesn't happen? It's stupid but since
Debian doesn't have the tools to create such files, I have to repack
sa-learn-cyrus to exclude them. And that's not really a nice option.
