Bug#674024: icinga: General update after the debconf review process
Dear Debian maintainer, On Tuesday, May 22, 2012, I sent you a notification about the beginning of a review action on debconf templates for icinga. Then, I sent you a bug report with rewritten templates and announcing the beginning of the second phase of this action: call for translation updates. Translators have been working hard and here is now the result of their efforts. Please consider using it EVEN if you committed files to your development tree as long as they were reported. The attached tarball contains: - debian/changelog with the list of changes - debian/control with rewrites of packages' descriptions - debian/templates with all the rewritten templates file(s) - debian/po/*.po with all PO files (existing ones and new ones) As said, please use *at least* the PO files as provided here, preferrably over those sent by translators in their bug reports. All of them have been checked and reformatted. In some cases, formatting errors have been corrected. The patch.rfr file contains a patch for the templates and control file(s) alone. Please note that this patch applies to the templates and control file(s) of your package as of Tuesday, May 22, 2012. If your package was updated in the meantime, I may have updated my reference copybut I also may have missed that. This is indeed why I suggested you do not modified such files while the review process was running, remember..:-) It is now safe to upload a new package version with these changes. Please notify me of your intents with regards to this. There is of course no hurry to update your package but feel free to contact me in case you would need sponsoring or any other action to fix this. -- patch.tar.gz Description: Binary data --- icinga.old/debian/icinga-common.templates 2012-05-22 08:27:37.659506600 +0200 +++ icinga/debian/icinga-common.templates 2012-06-06 07:09:00.906344594 +0200 @@ -1,10 +1,19 @@ +# These templates have been reviewed by the debian-l10n-english +# team +# +# If modifications/additions/rewording are needed, please ask +# debian-l10n-engl...@lists.debian.org for advice. +# +# Even minor modifications require translation updates and such +# changes should be coordinated with translators and reviewers. + Template: icinga/check_external_commands Type: boolean Default: false -_Description: Icinga check external commands: - Icinga is not configured to look for external commands in the default - configuration as a security feature. Bug#677713: [BTS#677713] templates://ipsec-tools/{racoon.templates} : Final update for English review
Dear Debian maintainer, On Saturday, June 16, 2012, I notified you of the beginning of a review process concerning debconf templates for ipsec-tools. The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates, and the final proposed changes are attached to this update to the original bug report. Please review the suggested changes, and if you have any objections, let me know in the next 3 days. However, please try to avoid uploading ipsec-tools with these changes right now. The second phase of this process will begin on Sunday, July 01, 2012, when I will coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates. The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will receive an updated PO file for their language. Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to the debian-i18n mailing list. Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with. The call for translation updates and new translations will run until about Sunday, July 22, 2012. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed or changed debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of course, other changes are safe. Please note that this is an approximative delay, which depends on my own availability to process this work and is influenced by the fact that I simultaneously work on many packages. Around Monday, July 23, 2012, I will contact you again and will send a final patch summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates, updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations). Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation. -- # These templates have been reviewed by the debian-l10n-english # team # # If modifications/additions/rewording are needed, please ask # debian-l10n-engl...@lists.debian.org for advice. # # Even minor modifications require translation updates and such # changes should be coordinated with translators and reviewers. But if you're not going to package snapshot versions on a regular basis, maybe that's not necessary. Ok, I will take a look again that option of the watch file, I have never seen before. I'll read carefully uscan man. Actually, Boris' suggestion (cherry-picking the changes you need and including them as patches) is even better, you should consider doing that and dropping the +20120619git27g55c0f4e entirely. Yeah, it seems best to discuss it with upstream. Regarding the GPL-3 for the packaging, since it's incompatible with the GPL-2, it would be much better if you agreed to GPL-2+ for debian/*; that way, the source package as a whole can be considered GPL-2. I don't know if there is a reason behind their choice of GPL-2 instead GPL-3... but I can ask them. Hi! I had contacted upstream author and I get a good response from him: 1.- I can remove Matchman Green from the copyright file. 2.- I added libcppunit-dev as build-depend and the test suite is built now, but never executed. As we suspect, make test doesn't work. Which rule on debian/rules must I override to execute the unitcpp test? 3.- They agree to remove the AUTHORS section, but I think that he didn't understand me very well about the REPORT BUGS section. He think that I want to put in the upstream manpage a REPORT BUGS section pointing to Debian BTS, and I explained again that I intend to remove the entire section because a debian user must use Debian BTS, it's redundant to say it on the manpage. I explain too that they can keep this section if they want, and I will remove it using patches on the package. Not a big problem. I have only a questions before uploading the package again to mentors.debian.net: which rule I must override on debian/rules to execute the unit tests? Bug#679338: [Pkg-nagios-devel] Bug#679338: icinga-web: Agavi tries to connect via TCP to DB, though Sockets was selected in dbconfig-common
tags 679338 + pending thanks Hello Chris, As you already told in other bugs, you only want to support the setup, where the databases are local, right? No, that's actually a feature that causes no problems. So then it makes sense to access them via sockets and not via TCP. The default php5 feature Debian utilizes is the mod_php5 inside apache2 and therefore a socket does not work with the standard peer authentication. (Except you want to give www-data rights in Postgres...) Though the next upload 1.7.1-2 allows sockets, but you have to configure the user and permissions on your own. My problem now is the settings in: /etc/icinga-web/conf.d/database*.xml These get DSN set that try to use TCP, even though I selected sockets. I'd expect the change to set the correct DSN for sockets is simple and I'd have simply overwritten the value,... but I don't know the format for such a DSN. All I tried failed and Agavi seems to provide no useful docs. Do you have an idea? And if so, could you please modify your scripts, to set such DSN, if unix/sockets was selected? This is fixed also. For quick help: use %2Fvar%2Frun%2Fpostgresql for the server part of the DSN. As far as I can see libpam-systemd only ships a manual page and a pam configuration file in /usr/share besides /usr/share/doc and the library. This would make it a candidate for m-a:same as well, but maybe I am just missing a detail here. Similarly the -dev packages only ship a pkgconfig file and one or two headers besides /usr/share/doc and the library. Marking them m-a:same should be possible as well. Such a marking of -dev packages is useful for crossbuilding. Again, I may be missing a detail here. Can you briefly explain your reasons? Would be nice having this in wheezy. Yes. Bug#679330: ioquake3: Add support for GNU/Hurd
On 27/06/12 23:10, Svante Signell wrote: The attached patch adds support for the GNU/Hurd architecture Thank you for porting it. Do the resulting binaries work correctly? In particular, can Linux clients join a Hurd dedicated server and interoperate correctly? To test it, you'll need a very similar patch for openarena (the build system is almost identical). You could also use Quake III Arena if you own a copy, but openarena is a better test anyway, because our patched version exercises the native-plugin-loading code path. My main concerns about things that might not work or interoperate are: * networking (BSD sockets implementation) * graphics/sound, for the client (does Hurd have any accelerated 3D? If not, it's likely to be unplayable - seconds per frame rather than frames per second) * native-code game logic loading (debian/q3arch, Makefile and q_platform.h all need to end up with the same name for the OS and architecture) If Hurd lacks accelerated 3D, it might make sense to only ship ioquake3-server, and leave out ioquake3. +ifeq ($(COMPILE_PLATFORM),gnu) + COMPILE_ARCH=x86 +endif This part is (or should be) unnecessary, and could break on hurd-* other than hurd-i386. For some reason the ioquake3 build system refers to i386 and x86_64 on Linux and kFreeBSD (and I think you should follow this naming convention for Hurd too), but x86 and x64 on Windows. Because you patched the Linux case to pick up Hurd as well as Linux and kFreeBSD, if you take this part out, the Linux logic should still apply. (When upstream say Linux they really mean GNU/anything.) What does this: uname|sed -e s/_.*//|tr '[:upper:]' '[:lower:]'|sed -e 's/\//_/g' (used upstream to set COMPILE_PLATFORM) return on Hurd? Hopefully it's gnu. We don't use this in Debian because we override it with debian/q3arch platform BUILD, but for the patch to be usable upstream, they should return the same thing. (For instance, on Linux, q3arch has to replace the linux-gnu from the GNU tuple with the linux that the Makefile expects). Bug#677983: Differences after restarting acng
Hello Daniel, Steve, World, * Daniel Hahler [Mon, Jun 25 2012, 03:43:48PM]: I am getting a similar error with apt-cacher-ng backported to Squeeze (via Ubuntu Lucid PPA) and think that it is related. thanks for your support and the archives you sent in. Unfortunatelly, I see no trace of a misbehaviour in the the fetcher code which I originally expected. Now it looks more like issue with the hot cache of download objects, especially because only a restart seems to fix it. I will make a bigger code review as soon as possible but cannot provide any hard ETA at the moment (personal reasons). Btw, Daniel: the size of the Release files does not mean much. It's always generated following the same format (same checksum and date string length, same paths) and has the same size until the archive config is changed. Having Wireshark 1.8.x in Wheezy is important because upstream's support for 1.6.x ends on June 7, 2013 [1] and Wireshark needs regular security updates. [...] Thanks for letting us know. Unfortunately, we think that this update came a tad late because we are that near to freeze and the update seems quite large. This is why i don't want to risk backporting security fixes from 1.8.x to 1.6.x. I have to admit to not being happy with the size of the diff at this late stage, but it seems the lesser of the available evils. The 1.8 package was accepted from NEW a short while ago by our friendly ftp-team. Thanks! The Wireshark project uses pretty advanced techniques for ensuring code quality including three different static code analyzers, building for platforms and fuzz testing every build. There are still security issues found in the code base time to time, but with more than 2 million lines of C code it would be hard to avoid those completely. All in all I'm convinced that having 1.8.x in Wheezy in the right decision. Can we schedule binNMUs for netexpect, or does it require any source changes? Eloy will upload the new netexpect package soon. ... Note that 1.8.0~rc1-1 has been uploaded to the NEW queue weeks ago... [1] In that case, I'm not entirely sure why the transition bug wasn't raised weeks ago... nor what the logic is behind not having uploaded the release version already, given that the upstream schedule claims it was released a week ago. In the past we managed the transition ourselves by quickly updating netexpect after wireshark. Since netexpect does not have too many users yet and netexpect is the only package depending on wireshark it seemed to be a better solution over involving the release team. Bug#679369: fusionforge: Please package authcas plugin
Source: fusionforge Severity: wishlist Hi. This feature request is mainly a placeholder to track the packaging of the authcas plugin that is available upstream, and which was removed from the Debian packaging as it depends on php-cas which was not yet package in Debian. But php-cas entered unstable, so now, the authcas plugin should in principle be packageable again. Still, upstream needs to backport some of the trunk changes for the most recent version of php-cas to the 5.2 branch first. As it is a bit late before the freeze to start such endeavours, this work will probably be done only for unofficial packages provided by upstream, or in experimental. Any comments welcome. Bug#679363: latexila window can't be resized
package latexila clone 679363 -1 retile -1 latexila fails to start thanks Patrick Winnertz, 2012-06-28 09:47+0200: I'm using gnome and somehow latexila fails in 9 of 10 times to open up correctly. If I open it, the window is missing the maximize button (although enabled in gnome3 and all other windows behave correctly) and if I move the window I can't resize it manually by clicking with the mouse on the corner of the window. These are two distincts bugs, I am thus duplicating it. The size of the opend window is from left to right smaller than my desktop (~60% of the screen size) and from top to bottom a little bit bigger than my desktop (~105% of the screen size). This makes it quite unusable in this state. Sadly I've no clue what triggers this missbehaviour and I've sadly also no clue why it in 1 of 10 times works correctly. Bug#576972: Workaround implemented in atlas 3.8.4-8
Hi, It seems impossible to elegantly solve this bug without having hooks in update-alternatives (a wishlist bug is filed for that). In the meantime, a workaround has been implemented in order to minimize the incidence of this bug. Starting from version 3.8.4-8 of Atlas, the Lapack alternative provided by Atlas has a lower priority than the one provided by Netlib's reference Lapack. That means that the bug will never hit as long as the alternatives are left in automatic mode (which is the default). The downside is that one won't automatically benefit from the optimizations made by Atlas into Lapack, unless the alternative is manually modified. The decision to implement this solution has been made jointly by Sylvestre Ledru (maintainer), Julien Cristau (Release Team) and myself, during the Debian Science Sprint kindly sponsored by ESRF, Grenoble, France. -- Sébastien Villemot Researcher in Economics Debian Maintainer http://www.dynare.org/sebastien Phone: +33-1-40-77-84-04 - GPG Key: 4096R/381A7594 pgpEH8NuIbgRi.pgp Description: PGP signature

Just to check, have you tested with 2.88dsf-28 (went into unstable today), and also the new ifupdown, which also went in today? It would be good to know if it works with all the current versions or not. Yes, those updates (both) are what determined me to revisit the issue. (it took a while for me to notice the regression since I don't reboot often and I don't use NFS much). Should this go into a new bug or should this one be reopened? Whichever you prefer, so long as there's an open bug! If you think it's the same issue, then reopening the old one is fine with me. The suggestion mentioned in the bug log of commenting this line [ $ADDRFAM = inet ] || [ $ADDRFAM = inet6 ] || exit 0 works, but re-activates the initial bug (stall at boot). Package: git-gui Severity: wishlist My typical workflow with git and git-gui is that: 1 - While making bigger change in code, on the way, I sometimes make also couple of smaller changes like style clean-ups or typo corrections 2 - As soon as I have done the main change, I run git-gui 3 - Now I stage the files and lines related to one change (picking them manually also serves as ana dditional check) 4 - I Comment Commit the main change 5 - I Repeat steps 3 - 4 until Unstaged area is clean Now what bothers me a little bit is that at the moment I click into Commit Message field and start typing, the code I'm looking at is not actually related to the commit (unless I clicked to Staged changes). It would be nice have behavior so that once cursor is brought into Commit Message field, Viewing part is switched to (first, or last-accessed) item of Staged Changes list. Bug#679383: cconv: package description review
Package: cconv Version: 0.6.2 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Cconv's package description has several problems; for instance it spells the word characters in three different ways. Package: cconv Architecture: any Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends} Recommends: iconv Description: simplified-traditional chinese conversion tool Problem one: Simplified and Traditional Chinese should be capitalised. Problem two: there's no such thing as Simplified-hyphen-Traditional Chinese. It might be intended as an n-dash, saying that cconv is a Simplified-to-Traditional conversion tool, but that wrongly implies it's one-way. What you really mean is: Description: Simplified/Traditional Chinese conversion tool The Chinese national GB standard defines a basic set of (around 6,000) characters for use with Simplified Chinese writing that does not include many With (implying the characters merely accompany the writing) is the wrong preposition; you mean in (or maybe for). This sentence is fairly long and complicated (and for instance it's not immediately obvious that the thing that does not include certain characters is the basic set); it would be easier to follow if there was more of a break in the middle here. I suggest: The Chinese national GB standard defines a basic set of (around 6,000) characters for use in Simplified Chinese writing; this excludes many of of the characters in the Taiwanese industry standard for Traditional Chinese called Big5 (around 13,000 characters in the basic set). Unicode is however a superset of both with all duplication removed down to the level of detail described above. No level of detail is described above - was this text cut'n'pasted from elsewhere? Besides, the de-duplication doesn't stop at any predefined level of detail; it applies to every case that's considered to count as duplication. So we might as well just say: [...]However, Unicode is a superset of both (with the duplication removed). . This tool is used for converting a UTF-8 string which combining both ^ Simplified Chinese characters and Traditional Chinese charcters directly into ~ one type Chinese chareacters. ~~~ Taking out the grammar (^^^) and spelling (~~~) problems and doing some de-duping of my own, I would suggest: This tool is used for converting a UTF-8 string which contains both Simplified and Traditional Chinese characters directly into a single Chinese character set. It is available before login. .dmrc is updated, (although encoding syntax for Language is different: utf8 instead of UTF-8) But $LANG inside session is still same as system default, not what I selected in lightdm. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable'), (300, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-686-pae (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages lightdm depends on: ii adduser3.113+nmu3 ii consolekit 0.4.5-3 ii dbus 1.6.0-1 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.43 ii libc6 2.13-33 ii libglib2.0-0 2.32.3-1 ii libpam0g 1.1.3-7.1 ii libxcb11.8.1-1 ii libxdmcp6 1:1.1.1-1 ii lightdm-gtk-greeter1.1.6-1 Versions of packages lightdm recommends: ii xserver-xorg 1:7.6+13 Versions of packages lightdm suggests: pn accountsservice none -- Configuration Files: /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf changed: [LightDM] [SeatDefaults] xserver-allow-tcp=false greeter-session=lightdm-greeter greeter-hide-users=false greeter-show-manual-login=true session-wrapper=/etc/X11/Xsession [XDMCPServer] [VNCServer] -- debconf information: lightdm/daemon_name: /usr/sbin/lightdm * shared/default-x-display-manager: lightdm -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#677543: dependency not added
A couple of hours ago I did a upgrade of guake ( grep guake /var/log/aptitude shows me [UPGRADE] guake:amd64 0.4.2-10 - 0.4.3-2 ) and know i get: Traceback (most recent call last): File /usr/bin/guake, line 35, in module from xdg.DesktopEntry import DesktopEntry ImportError: No module named xdg.DesktopEntry when starting guake (guake worked fine in 0.4.2-10). Bug 677543 and 676629 (that are dups of each other) tell me that a dependency on python-xdg has been added in 0.4.3-2 but i believe this is not the case. the guake upgrade went fine here (I'm running wheezy) but python-xdg was not installed, also http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/guake doesn't list python-xdg as a dependency. Installing python-xdg fixes the bug, so could you add it as a dependency ? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#679236: O: ckport -- portability analysis and security checking tool
Le mercredi 27 juin 2012 12:49:40, vous avez écrit : Package: wnpp Severity: normal Hereby I orphan the package ckport. [SNIP] As it is not fully useless I only orphan it not asking for RM. The package itself is in good shape. Upstream development is not affected by this. I hope the package will find a new home. I will gladly help a new maintainer as needed. However there was no new upstream release for one year when previous releases were made every other month approximately. Is upstream development still going on? The package description is: ckport is a tool to check already compiled binaries and libraries for porting and security problems. . It uses objdump to read the binaries and analyses calls and jumps to functions. . This package is architecture independent and can be used on non-host architecture binaries if an objdump tool for the target architecture is installed. I've just discovered this package with this orphaning message and I find it very interesting. I'm thus interested to maintain or co-maintain it, but due to personal business right now, I will not adopt it before september. So if someone else is interested in this package fell free to adopt it and I will join in later. Best regards, Thomas Preud'homme signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
Bug#679268: tmux: pane erraticly behaves as if Ctrl key was stuck
Hi Romain, Thanks for the report and initial info. Which terminal emulator do you use xterm what's the value of TERM outside and inside tmux Outside tmux: $ echo $TERM xterm-256color Inside tmux: $ echo $TERM screen and do you have any special setup regarding the Control key (e.g. you use Caps Lock or another non-standard key as Control)? No, I don't. I use my Caps Lock key as a Compose key, but I don't think that's relevant. Also, can you include your ~/.inputrc? I assume you're using bash? That's right, I'm using bash. My ~/.inputrc is attached. Cheers, Davide .inputrc Description: Binary data
Bug#674483: RFS: haxe and neko [ITA] (Was: Re: Bug#674483: RFS: haxe/1:2.9+20120414-1 [ITA] -- Web-oriented universal programming language)
Please upload haxe and neko for me before the freeze. I'm trying to adopt them just because haxe is needed by gnash testsuite and I'd like bringing it back in stable. Swftools has been reintroduced few months ago, haxe would be the only missing test tool. If I won't find any sponsor, I'll re-orphan them.
