Sorry for having abandoned the project for so long. Upstream completely 
reorganized the directory layout of the source code and it's a festival 
of imported third-party code that is in different stages of being 
available in Debian. Also I've started tracking and rebuilding the 
debian/copyright file but got discouraged at some point.

The half-ghost issue is the reason the two commands are
"encapsulated" in a single 'sh -c' call.

Without that the second call simply vanish.

cron-after-var.service is even weirder;
it's just the least worst way to do it.

A long time ago running systemctl daemon-reload in a loop was just enough to 
crash systemd.

And doing a big update will leads to so many calls to daemon-reload anyway.

My DEP-8 tests create some temporary directories, and they use $ADTTMP
to calculate the paths to create.  However, if the tests fail and
you're using --shell-fail/-s, you get dropped into the chroot but
neither the $ADTTMP environment variable, nor the directory (as seen

test failures quite difficult.

Okay, it seems that phpmyadmin can do auto upgrade of the tables when
accessed with enough privileges. This seems to collide with dbconfig
upgrade we're using. I need to figure out best approach to handle this.

To workaround this for now, you can execute following query:

ALTER TABLE `pma__column_info`
  DROP `input_transformation`,
  DROP `input_transformation_options`;

And the upgrade should work.

For me "in-target" seems to be more convenient.  Of course, logging target
is different but I think that it is OK for zipl.  The alternative would be

The point here is that if zipl fails, the file systems needs to un-mounted.
The "set -e" causes the script to end but with the file systems still mounted.
Because that's exactly what in-target does, I preferred it rather than
sending the patch above.  I am also fine with the patch above if you like
that approach more and keep the zipl logging idenntifier.

  I'm using the armmp variant of the linux Debian ARM kernel package.
The linux-image-4.0.0-2-armmp (4.0.8-2) was working correctly but new
kernel freeze during the boot.
  I tested since 4.1 (but without keeping the exact version number)
However, I tried to locate more precisely the problem with the
linux-image-4.3.0-1-armmp (4.3.5-1) and it seems the problem comes
from the ci_hdrc_imx module (see below). The freeze also occurs with the
current experimental kernel (4.4-1~exp1).

  To try to debug, I installed the linux-image-4.3.0-1-armmp package
(the system was running the 4.0 kernel). I switched to sysvinit (instead
of systemd) to be able to precisely control the boot, step by step.
  Before rebooting (in fact, after several tests), I renamed the
/lib/module/4.3.0-1-armmp/kernel/drivers/usb directory to usb.pb so
that usb modules were not loaded by udev.
  Then I reboot with init=/bin/bash, manually run /etc/rcS.d/S01*
script and run /etc/rcS.d/S02udev script.
  Then, I manually loaded usb modules for this machine (udoo quad)
and you can observe on the attached log that the ARM board freeze
when inserting the ci_hdrc_imx.ko module. No log, no error message
is printed. Only a freeze of the board.

  This is a regression from 4.0 kernels.

On which Debian release have you run lintian? On Debian stable? (I
guess so, because the deprecated "git buildpackage" no more works on
Unstable/Testing. You need to use "gbp buildpackage" instead there.)

If so, you need to install lintian from backports. Lintian from
backports follows Lintian from Unstable/Testing rather quickly.


Additionally, lintian runs more tests when run against the .changes
file (and not the .debs); and lintian has some nice command line /
configuration options to enable additional tests (informational,
pedantic, experimental).

The package is almost done. The current state can be
found at the team's VCS[1].

Right now I am stalled, as I can't get the tests to pass
when building in a chroot (pbuilder).

The tests require a neovim instance running as server, so for
example one can use `dtach` to run nvim, and run the tests
against it. This already works outside of pbuilder, but I fail
to reproduce it in pbuilder. A simplified example of what is
needed, without proper cleansing after the tests would be:

formally casting to long.

I'm not sure what went wrong here, as the log does confirm linkage
against libntfs-3g:

php-pager is only used by php-structures-datagrid-renderer-pager, but
it’s going away (#804904, #814108). There has been a new upstream
release five years after the version currently in Debian, but since it
has a low (and shrinking) popcon, it probably isn’t of any use anymore.
There is a priori little point to ship it in the next stable release.

I intend to follow up with an RM request in a few months if nobody
objects (but feel free to beat me to it).

I've found the cause of the problem and it has nothing to do with 
okular. The problem was (is) that ifupdown2 fails to bring up the lo 
interface. Bringing up lo by hand, okular starts working again, along 
with other KDE apps.

Well, but that's not the current state of affairs, I believe s390x is
currently the last port with mpich as default MPI implementation, and
that one has mpich, not mpich2:

-march=native is inappropriate for official Debian packages, because
it limits binary portability and breaks reproducibility.  I think

Hmmm, ok, to me that means I cannot accept the architecture in dpkg,
as the triplet would kind of lie, as it's supposed to include the glibc
part as well. If the toolchain is used to build stuff like 64-bit
kernels, boot loaders and similar, then I'd say the correct thing to
do anyway would be to use a standalone compiler.

I'm thus inclined to close this bug for now, as long as there's no
glibc support yet.

I didn't know it was available from a package :) Anyway I tend to always
pick up the latest version online anyway so that editors cannot complain
of a wrong version, and also because I want to save the working versions
in case I have to rebuild 5 years later.

Oh, you mean dpkg's own configurations, sure!

If dpkg can detect there's an actual conflict then it should (in
principle) error out, but in this case I don't see how dpkg would be
able to tell what you really want to do, so it considers the user
wants to extend the pre-existing directives.

So all the above are coming from the invocations via apt-listchanges
or a similar apt hook. And the reason they are failing is that a pipe
is being broken, which means some involved process closes the pipe or
dies. If this is apt-listchanges doing the parsing, and it does not
set SIGPIPE appropriately and stops reading from stdout, then that
could be a cause for this issue.

The easiest way to reproduce could be to run apt-listchanges manually
on a given .deb package.

Hm, yes, I do.

And this is the culprit:

I put that in my todo list but I ended up switching to roxterm instead.

Since the switch, I get no screen garbled, no lines missing from
scrollback, no mutt getting confused by a SIGWINCH during early startup
caused by terminator opening with its extra toolbar and then hiding it
right away, and mouse paste working well in vim, so I don't anticipate
using terminator again for several months.

Feel free to close this bug if it turns out that I was the only one
experiencing it.

Just tried "gpg --version" and "gpg2 --version" and both have MD5
available as digest algorithms (Debian 8.3).

Which one does break gpg or gpg2?

By default ~/.gnupg/options is ignored, should be ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf¹,
so don't really understand what's the problem. 

Can you run claws-mail with --debug option in a terminal and try to
encrypt a mail to one of those recipients? It may show more info on
what's happening.

I own a Kingston DataTraveler USB key. When I want to unplug it, I click
on the "Eject" button in GNOME Shell's notification bar.

The key is properly unmounted and disappears briefly from Nautilus, then
it is immediately mounted again, as if I just plugged it.

It annoys me because I can't be sure nothing is being written on the key
when I unplug it, which can lead to data loss.

I filed this bug for GNOME Shell because it doesn't happen with other
desktops (I tried with XFCE, MATE, Ubuntu with Unity, and even Windows
10). Unmounting from Nautilus works as it should, too. The 'eject'
command in a terminal works. It's really specific to GNOME Shell.

It happens only with this USB key : I have two other keys from other
brands and they are properly unmounted. I would assume it's just a bad
quality USB firmware if it didn't happen only in GS.

I can reproduce the bug on a fresh Jessie install.

My kernel version is 3.16.7-ckt20-1+deb8u3. I observe the bug on the
backported 4.3.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 kernel too.

to /etc/ca-certificates.conf and running update-ca-certificates, 
Mailchimp's API works again.


Hope this is useful, I have to admit I'm at the limit of my 
understanding on this!

Given that (as previously documented) pathnames might get reincluded
if the code thinks it might need them later on, I've mentioned just
that. And trying so hard to remove specific directory object entries
might be in vain after all, so it might not be a good recommendation
that sends people in the wrong direction.

i've got a few small web applications written in mojolicious that
i run via

 SetHandler perl-script

 PerlSetVar psgi_app /path/to/the/app
 PerlSetEnv PLACK_ENV "production"

ie, within the apache and using mod_perl. this starts up just fine, works
a few days, then inevitably crashes with the following error message:

the code in question is _load_sandbox() in plack::util, but it's not clear to

the mojolicious apps in question have all been cleared of any findbin, by
the way; they only use 'use lib "$ENV{MOJO_HOME}/lib";' because i suspected
findbin as the cause of the problem - but neither findbin with ->again nor
findbin without changed the behaviour any.

even more puzzling is the fact that this very same code and config has been
working reliably for years on wheezy (with its apache2.2 and whatever version
of plack that wheezy came with).

i've been experiencing this problem only  since i upgraded to squeeze and
its perl, plack and apache versions.

Squid already is:
 "configure:31445: HTTP violations support enabled: yes"

The compile-time option in Squid is to *disable* violations support if
wanted, and that is not used in the Debian builds.

If you are having trouble mangling HTTP headers the problem is
elsewhere. Some details about what you are actually trying to do and how
it is not working would be a help.

so that one could install at the same time librarian-puppet and
librarian-puppet-simple.

We have several custom networking scripts, and find it would be easiest
to handle them with a custom "method" in "/etc/network/interfaces".
We can't just add scripts to if-up.d, because we need strong ordering of
command execution. Examples would be adding macvlans, and ip tunnels.
For example, we need pre-up in "/etc/network/interfaces" to run before
ANY other script, because we do an ip link creation there. There are
built-in "methods" which cover some of the functionality we want, but
clearly this doesn't scale like a plugin based architecture would.
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to plug in a custom method for

my first opinion was disk full or memory error.

It would be nice to have support for credentials caching so that PAM
stack is not called for each HTTP request when some heavyweight network
authentication is used (my situation, I use libpam-sshauth which checks
credentials against SSH server).

Apache module mod_authn_socache does this, but other modules must
explicitly support that feature.

Module developers should note that their modules must be enabled for
cacheing with mod_authn_socache. A single optional API function
ap_authn_cache_store is provided to cache credentials a provider has

It has always been documented that local-top scripts will be run
exactly once.   We can't change that behaviour now.  It's up to the
mdadm package to retry whatever needs to be done in its local-block
script.

Looks like https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=813399, but
more of the same.  Barry, shouldn't you be doing something like
"python-six-whl (<< 1.10.0+)", rather than these sketchy <= dependencies
on specific packaging revisions that are going to break when we do
something innocuous in six?

The whole way this devendoring is handled seems very very sketchy
anyway.  I take it that you're trying to ensure that pip has
exactly-versioned wheels available even when (e.g.) six moves on to a
newer upstream version?  In that case, I suggest finding a way to ship
the necessary wheels in a directory private to pip instead of in
/usr/share/python-wheels/.  We really shouldn't be deliberately shipping
the same file in two different packages for more than just temporary
transitional purposes.

Yes! I successfully built something that made me happy, but so far I asked
for some reviewing, and I got only one or two answers. I took the advice
into account, I'll probably retry to ask some reviews soon, then I'll go in
packaging all the things. My main issue for now is about configuring
correctly mailman3 to have a properly running server on install, even if the
administrator will need to reconfigure some things.
