The attached patch removes umask variability from the build system. Once applied, serverstats can be built reproducibly in our reproducible toolchain. I think a better fix would be to drop the use of DH_FIXPERMS_EXCLUDE (which is deprecated anyway) and make the changes you want in another hook. This would have the added benefit of being more explicit about the changes between a regular package and what serverstats needs to do. Just a thought. Bug#721487: [debian-mysql] Bug#721487: mysql-server: standard mysql server installation does not listen on tcp6 protocol
Hi Adrian, letting mysql-server listen on localhost only is the default debian configuration. This was done as a security enhancement. Unfortunatelly you can only supply a single IP address to bind-address So there are only: bind-address = 127.0.0.1 # IPv4 localhost only bind-address = ::1 # IPv6 localhost only bind-address = 0.0.0.0 # IPv4 any bind-address = :: # IPv6 any but now way to open localhost for IPv4 and IPv6 only. my vote - close bug as it is a configuration issue. I definately did not do this on purpose, but it might come from on older 5.1 installation. When you manually fix the file-owner (chown mysql /var/log/mysql/error.log ) the problem disappers. - -snip- regarding mysqld startup: the SVN/experimental fix is basically :ugly: from some discussion on the #mysql.de channel I very likely believe we should not be using mysqld_safe at all, but start the mysqld process directly. Unfortunatelly I did not find the time to write a proposal for an updated init-script yet :( - -snip_ regarding logrotate: problem with logrotate basically is that we do not have any clue which logfiles will be created as this information comes from the mysqld config. - From the distributed my.cnf no logging is done at all. Bug#664846: mysql-server-5.1: MySQL Server does DNS-PTR lookups even when skip-name-resolve is active
Package: mysql-server-5.1 Version: 5.1.61-0+squeeze1 Severity: important Hi folks, I'm running my MySQL server with the --skip-name-resolve. I verified that this option is enabled via: mysql show variables LIKE 'skip_name_resolve'\G *** 1. row *** Variable_name: skip_name_resolve Value: ON 1 row in set (0.00 sec) Unfortunatelly SQL connections from remote hosts are very slow in the handshake phase. I found that this is the case for hosts where no PTR record is set. After that I started a tcpdump on the mysql-server host looking for DNS queries and I see several PTR lookup each time a remote client wants to connect. Hi Lucas, you're right that this bug has never been meantioned in the changelog. The fix came up by Nion but never made it the way into eighter unstable/testing NOR debian-security for etch at that time. It was a bad timing at all, because two days after Nions NMU I asked fs to sponsor the upload of a complete new upstream release where the bug already has been fixed and I ahdn't even been aware of that bug. From my point of view there are currently two issues to deal with. First and more important: Why is this fix not in debian-security for oldstable? Secondly how to handle the missing changelog entry? Christian Perrier wrote: While installation I used a private mirror which was misconfigured. I got 403 when downloading grub or lilo, but the installer did not told something about misconfigured sources. Maybe the error message can be improved. That would mean analyzing the possible cause of failure when trying to get packageswhich is a somewhat complicated task because of the various possible errors that can happen on private mirrors. IMHO, having the installer say that it failed to retrieve this or that package is the only reasonable solutionwhich is what we're doing right now. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#367634: mpt* RAID support fixed with kernel 2.6.16
Hi, I just installed linux-source-2.6.16-14, build a kernel-image and it mpt* support is working. So problem is that d-i still uses 2.6.15 which seems to support the mpt* cards but only when the harddisks are not in an RAID array It would be really great if this could be solved towards release of etch - otherwise we would miss support for a great hardware plattform If I might support in any way don't hesitate to contact me see also [0] [0] http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-scsim=113632608121938w=2 Cheers Bjoern -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Hi, FJP: the mpt* drivers are already on place but they are differnet from the drivers provided by LSI linux-kernel-2.6.16.16 offers version 3.03.07 but it seems that those drivers do not include support for some cards I prepared a diff [0] of latest kernel.org and LSI drivers (3.02.68).
