Bug#1063096: python3-webview: proxy_tools dependency not found
Package: python3-webview Version: 4.4.1+dfsg-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, With the upgrade to python3-webview from 3.3.5 to 4.4.1, the package is no longer usable. The package is unable to find the module proxy_tools. Bug#968082: zathura: adjust-open width setting in zathura results in black screen
Package: zathura Version: 0.4.6-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, When ~/.config/zathura/zathurarc contains: set adjust-open width to make the default zoom when opening a PDF for the first time zoom to width, PDFs open as a black screen. It's not possible to set the zoom to width by pressing 's'. But it is possible to press '-' to zoom in a bit and then press 's' to get the document fitting to width. If zathura is closed and then the PDF reopened, the PDF opens OK, but the zoom is at maximum. The PDF can then be zoomed to width OK by pressing 's'. This zoom is then remembered for that PDF, so subsequent behaviour is OK (until a new PDF is opened for the first time). Inspecting ~/.local/share/zathura/history shows that the zoom for the previously opened PDF is set to 'inf'. This started happening with zathura 0.4.6-1. Before this new PDFs were opened with fit to width as default without problems. Package: neomutt Version: 20200619+dfsg.1-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, When trying to create a multipart/alternative message, neomutt returns this error: Can't stat (null): Bad address Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Bug#946922: linux-image-5.3.0-3-amd64: Power regression from 5.2 to 5.3: FIXED
Hi, This issue has been fixed in linux-image-5.5-rc5, which is currently in experimental. I think it corresponds to this upstream issue: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/intel/issues/614 Power usage is back to what it was with Linux 5.2 and package C states are correctly reported. So this Debian bug can now be closed as I guess things should be all good once Linux 5.5 enters unstable. Bug#946922: linux-image-5.3.0-3-amd64: Power regression from 5.2 to 5.3
Package: src:linux Version: 5.3.15-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, Since upgrading to Linux 5.3, I am seeing a power usage regression. With Linux 5.2, powertop reported an idle battery discharge rate of between 3 and 4 W and CPU package states seemed normal (majority of time spent in pc7). However, with Linux 5.3, powertop reports an idle battery dischage rate of between 5 and 6 W. The CPU package states are all reported as follows all of the time: C2 (pc2)0.0% C3 (pc3)0.0% C6 (pc6)0.0% C7 (pc7)0.0% C8 (pc8)0.0% C9 (pc9)0.0% C10 (pc10) 0.0% I noticed this with the first version of Linux 5.3 to be included into Testing. I just upgrade the UEFI BIOS from 1.55 to 1.61 to see if that would make any difference, but it didn't. I was able to successfully boot this kernel. Since my previous attempt to build 5.0.0 using the config from the current Debian 5.2 kernel also wouldn't boot, it probably means that some new config option that Debian is using for 5.2, not used (but available) in 5.0 causes my machine problems. Happy to help find this issue. But I wouldn't know where to start (other than a diff of /boot/config-5.2.0-2-amd64 and /boot/config-5.0.0-trunk-amd64). -- David Purton e: dcpur...@marshwiggle.net m: 0413 626 862

Bug#716927: grub-efi-amd64: grub-efi doesn't support HFS+ EFI partitions
Those following this thread might be interested in my work around. I use the method outlined by the OP to boot debian on my Macbook Air. I'm basically resigned to things failing every time grub-efi-amd64 is updated. So now I let it fail, then run this shell script to fix things up and make sure my machine is in a bootable state: /boot/efi is a small HFS+ partition without a journal. It's structure (when working) looks like this: EFI ↳ debian ↳ grubx64.efi mach_kernel System ↳ Library ↳ CoreServies ↳ boot.efi ↳ SystemVersion.plist .VolumeIcon.icns Notes: - grubx64.efi is hard linked to boot.efi - .VolumeIcon.icns contains an icon for the volume (optional) - mach_kernel is an empty file - SystemVersion.plist contains: http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd;> ProductBuildVersion ProductName GNU/Linux ProductVersion Sketch When grub-efi-amd64 is updated, everything gets borked up. So after an unsuccessful update, I run this shell script to fix things up: #!/bin/bash # Workaround for grub-install's failure to work properly with hfsplus # partitions. # # Use a loopback vfat partition to install on, then copy updated # grubx64.efi to the actual hfsplus parition. rm -rf /boot/efi/EFI/debian/System umount /boot/efi fsck -t hfsplus UUID=86734cde-d4c8-3eef-bae0-abefba3c2332 mount -t hfsplus -o force,rw -U 86734cde-d4c8-3eef-bae0-abefba3c2332 /mnt mount -t vfat -o loop efiboot.img /boot/efi grub-install cp /boot/efi/EFI/debian/grubx64.efi /mnt/EFI/debian/ umount /boot/efi umount /mnt mount /boot/efi Notes: - efiboot.img is a small vfat image. It's file structure is as follows: EFI ↳ debian ↳ grubx64.efi The logic of the above script is pretty simply. It fixes the damage done to the HFS+ partition after a botched install. fscks the HFS+ partition in case it was not cleanly unmounted (otherwise mounting rw causes problems), mounts the vfat efi image, runs grub-isntall, copies the new grubx64.efi to the HFS+ partition, then remounts things in the proper place. My question is: Why can't grub install just treat the HFS+ partition in exactly the same way as a vfat one? That way once the directory structure is set up, grubx64.efi would just be upgraded and nothing else would change => system continues to boot fine. Hope this helps, David -- David Purton dcpur...@marshwiggle.net For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. 2 Chronicles 16:9a signature.asc Description: PGP signature

Bug#741583: Bug #741583
Hi, I think this is a wider problem than just the alias command. Something has broken between $realname and $from between 1.5.22-1 and 1.5.22-2 $realname is ignored and just the $from address is used when sending email. Also when querying an external address book, the real name is ignored. e.g., when an external address book returns: a...@example.com\tReal Name\tOther Info The expected behaviour is for mutt to use: Real Name a...@example.com but in practice just a...@example.com is used. My guess is that all these are related. Bug#741147: mutt: Mutt generated smime signatures fail verification in icedove/thunderbird
Package: mutt Version: 1.5.22-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, The S/MIME signed emails that Mutt generates do not validate with Icedove (under Debian) or Thunderbird under OS X. (These are the only tests I've done.) Icedove simply states the the digital signature is not valid and that the message has been modified in transport. The signatures do verify with mutt itself (obviously) and with Maill.app under OS X. I am able to construct a signed message with openssl directly and send it using the mail command and Icedove/Thunderbird works. So it is not a generic problem with the certificate or with how it is stored on my computer. Signed messages created in Icedove with this certificate also work. The certificate is just a free one from Comodo. (I realise that the problem could lie with either Mutt or Icedove. I haven't submitted a bug report to Icedove and there isn't something similar existing in that package either.) Bug#716842: cups-filters: please compile with support for using acroread as pdftops-renderer
Package: cups-filters Version: 1.0.34-3 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, Version 1.0.24 of cups-filters introduced the ability to use acroread instead of ghostscript (or poppler) for converting PDF to PostScript in the pdftops filter. Adobe Reader converts to PostScript much much faster than GhostScript which is slow to the point of being unusable on documents with complex transparency. However, the path to acroread (and indeed the other renderers) is set at build time and cannot be changed at run time. If acroread is found in the path at build time, this is used, otherwise it's set to a zero length string and the filter fails when specifying this option (which can be done at run time). I realise, that Debian does not include acroread, but it can be installed from the deb-multimedia package which puts acroread in /usr/bin/. Would you consider configuring cups-filters with the --with-acroread-path=/usr/bin/acroread option? I realise that this is a hack, but at least acroread could be used this way. Bug#686671: cups-filters: pdftops filter does not remove -number-up printer option
Package: cups-filters Version: 1.0.18-2+b1 Severity: normal Tags: upstream patch Dear Maintainer, I believe there is a bug in pdftops.c Page layout options like nup printing are now handled by pdftopdf. However pstops also handles this. pdftops, which should be run in between pdftopdf and pstops is supposed to remove the options that pdftopdf has already applied. However, the option -number-up is not removed by pdftops. The result is that nup printing is applied twice when printing to a PostScript printer (the CUPS PDF virtual printer is also affected), once by pdftopdf and once by pstops. This bug is due to the way function remove_options searches for options to remove. When searching for -number-up, -number-up-layout is found, since (at least sometimes) this is on the command line before -number-up. Function remove_options is clever enough to know that -number-up-layout is different to -number-up, but not clever enough to keep searching for -number-up after -number-up-layout is found. Although a more robust solution is to fix remove_options, a simple solution is to get remove_options to search for (and remove) -number-up-layout be -number-up is searched for. This can easily be done by reversing the order of these two options in the pstops_exclude_page_management array in pdftops.c. Hope that helps! Package: linux-image-2.6.29-1-686 Version: 2.6.29-2 Severity: normal Suspend to RAM has been working (from gnome) on previous kernels (2.6.26, 2.6.28) but no longer works with 2.6.29. Sometimes it will suspend and resume once ok, but never twice. And mostly not even once. There is some stuff dumped to the console on the second attempt if the first has worked ok, but there is never enough time to read it. Booting back to eariler kernels restores my ability to suspend. s2ram -i offers the following: This machine can be identified by: sys_vendor = CLEVO Co. sys_product = M5x0G sys_version = Not Applicable bios_version = SONOMA01.86C.0056.D.0510251336 Can provide more info if given instructions on what is useful and hw to provide it. cheers dc -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.29-1-686 (Debian 2.6.29-2) (wa...@debian.org) (gcc version 4.3.3 (Debian 4.3.3-5) ) #1 SMP Sat Apr 4 17:36:29 UTC 2009 ** Command line: root=/dev/hda1 ro ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [2.812625] hdb: host max PIO4 wanted PIO255(auto-tune) selected PIO4 [2.812947] hdb: UDMA/33 mode selected [2.813361] ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14 [2.840294] ata_piix :00:1f.2: version 2.12 [2.840313] ata_piix :00:1f.2: PCI INT B - GSI 19 (level, low) - IRQ 19 [2.840393] ata_piix :00:1f.2: MAP [ P0 P2 -- -- ] [2.840714] ata_piix :00:1f.2: setting latency timer to 64 [2.843502] scsi0 : ata_piix [2.843529] scsi1 : ata_piix [2.844832] ata1: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x18c8 ctl 0x18c0 bmdma 0x18b0 irq 19 [2.844907] ata2: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x18a8 ctl 0x180c bmdma 0x18b8 irq 19 [3.187681] ide-gd driver 1.18 [3.187776] hda: max request size: 512KiB [3.189687] hda: 156301488 sectors (80026 MB) w/7539KiB Cache, CHS=16383/255/63 [3.191618] hda: cache flushes supported [3.191729] hda:6ide-cd driver 5.00 [3.208902] hda1 hda2 hda3 hda5 hda6 hda7 [3.285029] ide-cd: hdb: ATAPI 24X DVD-ROM DVD-R CD-R/RW drive, 2048kB Cache [3.285362] Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20 [3.925534] PM: Starting manual resume from disk [3.997589] kjournald starting. It must be stuff left over from Skype4Py ages ago, before it was officially part of the debian distro - don't know why it was in /usr - I guess either I had a deb from somewhere which didn't uninstall itself properly or (more likely) I couldn't get it working in /usr/local, and I just dumped it in /usr. It's definitely not part of any deb currently installed on my system. If I remove the offending Skype4Py directory from the site-packages, Skysentials works as expected! Woohoo. Hi, Had a feeling it might be something specific to my config, as haven't found anything similar on net. Bug#504272: iceweasel: Does not fall back to nphelix.so when libtotem-complex-plugin.so is disabled in GUI
Package: iceweasel Version: 3.0.3-3 Severity: minor Iceweasel 3 has the ability to disable plugins in the GUI (Tools - add-ons). I want to disable libtotem-complex-plugin.so, because it fails to play most real audio streams. I prefer to use the actual real audio player plugin (nphelix.so). But When you disable libtotem-complex-plugin.so, and go to a page with embedded real content (e.g. bbc.co.uk) iceweasel says that no plugin is installed to play the content, even though nphelix.so is listed in about:plugins and set to be enabled in the GUI. The only work around I now of is to delete libtotem-complex-plugin.so manually from the disk so it is not detected at all. This is not really optimal, since every time the package is upgraded, it puts the plugin back again. (Yes, I know I could remove the package, but that would mean removing the gnome metapackage, which I would like to keep, since that brings in new parts of gnome as they are made available.) cheers dc -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (700, 'unstable'), (600, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages iceweasel depends on: ii debianutils 2.30 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii fontconfig2.6.0-1generic font configuration library ii libc6 2.7-15 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.3.2-1 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.16.6-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.12.11-4 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libnspr4-0d 4.7.1-4NetScape Portable Runtime Library ii libstdc++64.3.2-1The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii procps1:3.2.7-9 /proc file system utilities ii psmisc22.6-1 Utilities that use the proc filesy ii xulrunner-1.9 1.9.0.3-1 XUL + XPCOM application runner iceweasel recommends no packages. Package: mozilla-thunderbird Version: 1.0-3 Severity: normal Specifically, mozilla-thunderbird -compose attachment=file:///path/to/file does not work if thunderbird is already running. The compose window is opened, but the file is not attached. This is a pain, since I believe OpenOffice.org uses this technique to send the current document as a PDF attachment, which I find quite a handy feature. cheers dc -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.29 Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages mozilla-thunderbird depends on: ii libatk1.0-0 1.8.0-4 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc62.3.2.ds1-20GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfontconfig1 2.2.3-4 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.1.7-2.3 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-9 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.6.2-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.6.2-3 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libpango1.0-01.8.0-3 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-8 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-12.0.1 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-12.0.1 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxft2 2.1.2-6 FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxp6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-12.0.1 X Window System printing extension ii libxrender1 0.8.3-7 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxt6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-12.0.1 X Toolkit Intrinsics ii xlibs4.3.0.dfsg.1-12 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4 compression library - runtime -- debconf information: * mozilla-thunderbird/browser: GNOME -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
