Bug#976235: enlightenment: e switches off screen|monitor

2021-08-24 Thread enno
Dear Ross,

Long time no see, I have new findings. By now I'm on 5.9.0-5-amd64, have
longtime not tried to reactivate e, today found the time, and again, it reacts
strangely. Maybe my setup is wrong, I have a ~/.xsession, which is a symbolic
link to ~/.xsession-enlightenment, which says:

"""citation start"""
#!/bin/bash
if pgrep Xorg >/dev/null 2>&1; then
syndaemon -d -K -R -i 1
exec /usr/bin/enlightenment_start
else
echo "Usage: by X/xdm. See X(7x)."
fi
"""citation end"""

What happens is that I see an Enlightenment screen showing on my (laptop)
monitor for about a second, then the screen turns black.

NEW: If I do nothing, screen stays black for quite precisely 30 seconds, no
matter if on VT7 or VT1-6, then screen comes back. If in TTY1-6 it stays, if
in VT7 as soon as I press a key or click a mouse it turns black again. But
then sometimes also VT1-6 turn black again, apparently without my influence.

And in .xsession-errors--where I redirect console output, there's:

"""citation start""":

Gaffer Tape, yes (your signature)! What do you mean by CSM
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CSM)? I don't know the system longer than a few
days, but I've tried everything the BIOS/UEFI setup offers for booting, and if
memory serves I have started the first install from USB via `Legacy' boot.
Interestingly i can boot the USB-stick with the jigdone
debian-10.9.0-amd64-xfce-CD-1.iso any time. I cannot boot the (other)
USB-stick with (umph) https-downloaded debian-live-10.9.0-amd64-xfce.iso, the
Dell says depending on used boot options either `no bootable media found' or
similar -- or it says `isolinux.bin missing or corrupt'. My workinglap HP
Elitebook says the same about the latter USB-stick. And I have seen some
debian bug-reports about similar problems with ISO-images on USB-sticks...

Solution available?

Maybe a younger or an older Release?

Brgds, e.

Bug#986387: cdrom: Unsuccessful installation on Windows10-Dell-Latitude-Ultrabook. No grub.

2021-04-04 Thread enno
Package: cdrom
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

Jigdone a debian-10.9.0-amd64-xfce-CD1 USB-Stick. Booted a Dell Latitude
Ultrabook with preinstalled Windows 10 from aforesaid USB-Stick. Performed
full installation including resizing the NTFS partition and including
installation of grub(2). Rebooted. No bootable media found.
On reboot via F12 I could select Windows Boot Manager to boot successfully into
Windows10. But Grub or Linux are not available.

Windows10 recognises the resize of the NTFS partition, the
additional partitions sda4 (root) and sda5 (swap) are recognised as well.

UEFI booting presents a "normal" Windows 10.
Legacy booting says, no bootable media found.
Booting via UEFI-->Windows Bootmanager boots Windows 10.
Legacy AND UEFI booting Installation-USB-Stick work up to the point to
register the disk(s), and there it stops, it doesn't seem to recognise the
partition table, that the installer has written and is also reported by
Windows10.

It just presents an unformatted disk of MAX units to go on with. But Windows
DatentrÀgerverwaltung does indeed see the created partitions.

I'm at a loss.

Dear Maintainer,

I recently updated emacs and consort to 27.1. On first `M-x rm' emacs (in an
Xsession) complained about having no mailmove available. I googled mailmove
to find it a part of (gnu) mailutils, which as a debian package provides
mailmove (/usr/bin/). Aptitude doesn't seem be aware of or just doesn't care
about this dependency.

Brgds e.

PS I suppose there aren't many people still using emacs as their MRT.

OK, I would have thought so, just asked to be sure. No, the `backlight keys'
don't make any difference at all.

Well I couldn't make anything show up with my really strong LED headlight (BTW
I'm a surgeon).

BUT...

I'm still or evermore puzzled. I just tried .e again, and after waiting about
20 seconds the black screen switches to life and shows an e screen with the
usual icons root home and thingummyjig as well as the whatsitcalled e-Bar on
the bottom of the window--with a clock and several click launch icons. Soon as
I click mouse or type a key--screen turns black again. VT1-6 black, after
waiting about 20 seconds the black screen switches to life and thereis gpm and
keyboard working perfectly normal--I switch back to VT7, see e for a
second--then screen turns black.

I did a few updates on suspected potentially involved packages and the like:
[INSTALL] xorg-docs:i386 1:1.7.1-1.2
[INSTALL] xserver-xorg-input-evdev:i386 1:2.10.6-2
[REMOVE (PURGE)] xserver-xorg-input-all:i386 1:7.7+19
[REMOVE (PURGE)] xserver-xorg-video-vmware:i386 1:13.3.0-2
[UPGRADE] xorg-docs-core:i386 1:1.7.1-1 -> 1:1.7.1-1.2
[UPGRADE] xterm:i386 361-1 -> 362-1

and now the screen[s] do[es] not come back to life within... uh ah one minute?

And BTW I've tried to present my problem on the phabricator, but there is no
reaction within 10 days or so by now.

Isn't there anybody who knows what these ~/.xsession-errors log lines say:

The only thing google finds (even if cutting off the rather unspecific ` ->

I can't believe it. I have tried ldd to see if there are any missed

Done that. Makes no difference at all--at least none that I can detect. Still
enlightenment_start brings up enlightenment for a second or so, then the screen
goes black--and is black on all VTs BUT after switching to one of VT1 to VT6,
and typing blindly--after about 2 minutes the console lights up and is back to
normal.

As soon as I switch to VT7, there's about half a second of seeing e, then the
screen goes black--and again all VTs follow being black.

BTW what do you mean by backlight keys?

Anyway I don't think that there's any `strange interaction', because before I
switched that #! switch to 90 everything was alright--apart from e-dialogs
complaining about unconfigured screens (or so, can't really remember the
wording). Thus it's certainly not a problem between e and my hardware.

I suppose I'll try to try the Phabricator, it seems to be somewhat difficult to
enter there...

First thanks for hangin on. And no, it's definitely not in a suspend/resume
cycle--i cold boot into the system, and the problem is there. Still not
understood, especially the strange flicker between screen on and off. But as
I'm not a LCD technician I haven't a clue, if this is just backlight off or
whatever effect it may be. But as stated before, the LCD display is black, but
all standard 7 VTs are there and listening to my entries via keyboard--well
confirmed I have so far VT1 to VT3, but I don't suppose it could be different
on VT4 to 6. Presumably VT7 is working too, but that is a wee bit difficult to
test without seeing the mouse pointer.

In the past I had some difficulties with a certain release of i can't really
remember, i think it was aptitude back then, which after some package updates
stopped working properly. Some people from the debian response team said they
were surprised that my system was working at all, because of some very old
packages combined with a lot of the testing suite. They suggested to upgrade
the whole system. After that, aptitude worked. And yes, this might be some
sort of solution in this case as well. But I still doubt that this Windows
kind of solution is the ultimate debian way: Reinstall.

Unfortunately the e documentation is extremely terse. And again unfortunately,
the logs in .xsession-errors and other Xorg logs are not very distinct
regarding possible reasons of the problem, everytime it stops at a different
line. Well long story short term, I had hoped You might be able to isolate
something from these logs with more insight than my humble self.

Bug#976235: enlightenment: e switches off screen|monitor

2020-12-04 Thread enno
Hello Ross,

No change so gvfs doesn't seem to be responsible BUT 1 new finding: I had the
meanwile usual procedure, starting enlightenment via my ~/.xsession, the
aforementioned switching off of the screen/monitor/display (I mean it just
turns BLACK), the blind switch to a console VT already being logged in, waiting
about 20 seconds, VT comes up again to life, further 20 seconds without any
interference by me, and the screen goes black again. I'm just resistant to the
idea it might be a hardware error, because with flwm there's no problem at all!

Wondering. Please let me know it there's anything I haven't worded
sufficiently clear.

I guessed so.

I haven't investigated recent X things before this, so I just presumed that
LVDS is my "Visual", how shall I say, well, my monitor. And of course I
haven't closed the lid. BTW closing of the lid perfectly switched my laptop to
suspend mode before this mess now--without me having configured anything (apart
from having installed pm-utils).

Works well, opens a new Xserver (Xorg) on the chosen VT with an uxterm, then
typing `enlightenment_start' leads to something coming up which looks like e...
and after about 2 seconds the monitor is switched off, the hardware I'd say, as
all VTs are included. And again, waiting on a (console) VT for about 20" it
switches back on. I'm baffled. O BTW just for info it is a HP Elitebook
8460P, so not quite something exotic. Was Windows7 and I installed Debian from
USB.

As the last thing being called after my `enlightenment_start' seems to be
gvfsd, I'll try to update gvfs-daemons to see if that might make any
difference. Will let you know.

Any ideas?

Bug#976235: enlightenment: e switches off screen|monitor

2020-12-01 Thread enno
Package: enlightenment
Version: 0.24.2-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Upgraded e, after that e on start complained in a window that I had no screen
configured to display on--but my 4 screens from prior .e were present. But
the complaint persisted, so finally I tried the suggested Settings->Screens--
but that doesn't exist. However I remembered there was some Screen config
somewhere, found that, didn't find anything to configure. Complaint about
unconfigured persisted. So again into the configure-dialog, there is a lot of
options without explanation or tooltip, f.i. one checkbox choice with
0 90 180 270 as choices. Checked 90 and haven't seen e again since that.

Calling enlightenment_start since then just switches off the monitor (on a
laptop) and .xsession-errors contains some lines that google doesn't come up
with any solution:

> Hmmm, I just tested with enlightenment 0.22.3-2 and this works
> for me [...]:

Aah, well, now it woks, way there was long and not quite obvious.

Using the `Settings Panel' not on the first (left) item `Wallpaper' but the
third one `Screen', there the first (top) item `Virtual Desktops', up comes a
new menu displaying the `Virtual Desktop Settings' in _pictures_, there I can
click on each VD in turn and up comes a new menu `Desk Settings', there click
`X Set'--and off we go to where I want. Excellent.

But if I use the `Settings Panel', there the first (left) item `Look', there
the first (top) item `Wallpaper', up comes new menu `Wallpaper Settings', there
choose the Picture by whichever possible way, click `> Advanced', there select
`This screen', then `Apply' or `OK'--all my (ahem) `Virtual Desktops' get the
same tiled background.

Thanks for your time, can close this bug unless somebody wants to do some
information presentation regarding the different terms `Virtual Desktop',
`Screen' and their respective addressing via the Settings Panel of e17.

Brgds, ED.

Thanks very much appreciate your time, tiling bg images works when I follow
your advice, but all my screens get the same background, no matter if I check
"only this desktop" or "only this screen".

I like to have my 0-0 and 1-0 with All-Good-People and my 0-1 and 1-1 with
Enigmas_Oven. Just a habit.

Version: 13.018

Dear Maintainer,

kernel-img.conf(5) is not included in kernel-package 13.018, however it is
referenced several times in the documentation. The sample.kernel-img.conf
delivered in the package does not seem to be a sufficient substitute.

do_symlinks and do_bootloader are obviously obsolete, but link_in_boot isn't
really explained, and do_initrd isn't even mentioned.

Bug#789330: pyqt4-dev-tools: defining a pyqtSignal(str) fires a pyqtSignal(QString).

2015-06-19 Thread Enno
Package: pyqt4-dev-tools
Version: 4.11.3+dfsg-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Defined a class with signals:
class Blahwoof(QMainWindow):
helpsig = pyqtSignal(str)
...

Connected the signal to a function:
def react(self, sig='poof'):
self.helpsig.emit(sig)

Defined a function catching that signal, but instead of a str a QString was
received.

If I define the signal as:
helpsig = pyqtSignal(object)

the function receives a str.

This happens since about 4.11.2+dfsg-1, before it worked fine with the
pyqtSignal(str) definition.

I suppose it's an upstream item.

Bug#764761: closed by Dmitry Shachnev mity...@gmail.com (Re: pyqt4-dev-tools: fontMetrics.elidedText performs poorly on '\t' in QLabel.)

2014-10-17 Thread Enno
Dear Dmitry,

Of course I know about the difference between tabs and spaces.

Segfault? Well maybe I should add the full code:
### CODE START
from PyQt4.QtGui import QApplication, QLabel
a = QApplication([])
b = QLabel()
b.setGeometry(0, 0, 100, 24)
text = 'blah\tmooh\twoof'
fm = b.fontMetrics()
b.setText(fm.elidedText(text, 1, b.width()))
b.show()
### CODE END

The width of the tab is 80px according to Qt documentation, but this is
not consistent with my experience, in my configuration in this QLabel it
seems to be about 56px wide.

Anyway I think it's an upstream problem, right from Qt, like so many :(.

as discussed in email earlier this week, there have been several
changes to tolua++ since the Debian package was built, notably the
tolua_outside modifier (which my project needs). It would be great if
those could make it into a new Debian pacakge. I've taken this
opportunity to commit the Debian patches into the upstream SVN at
berlios, so you should be able to build directly from those sources
now.

Thanks,

Bug#632471: logcheck-database: spamd child cleanup message broken after upgrade to squeeze

2011-07-02 Thread Enno Gröper
Package: logcheck-database
Version: 1.3.13
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

After upgrading to debian squeeze I get several messages a day in the form of:
Jul 2 15:05:15 hostname spamd[21286]: spamd: handled cleanup of child pid
[28609] due to SIGCHLD: exit 0
This is due to an update in spamd, that makes the message more detailed
(includes exit code)[1]. Therefore messages including exit code 0 should be
ignored as the whole message without exit code would have been ignored before.
I include a patch. With my patch the new version of the ignore rule ignores the
old and the new message version.

Try again without xorg.conf and with debian's standard kernel
 (2.6.32 or 2.6.38).

 Cheers, Julien

Did that. Doesn't work with 2.6.32-5-686. X just doesn't start,
claiming it finds no screen.

BUT o miracle it works with 2.6.38-2-686!

So now I'll just have to find out why the post-2.6.30-kernels mess up my
audio, blowing it up to 100% volume and keeping it there... then I can
finally switch over to the brave new world.

Still I'm puzzled about the 'malfunction', I mean I don't have anything
like unusual hardware...

Hello Cyril,

There's nothing unusual in the logs.

On some occasions though I couldn't get back to VT7, only
solution left was magic sysrq -- or power button.
Was your machine still responsive over the network?

That I don't know.
But once kernel logging was working fine:
Apr 15 18:36:22 mash kernel: SysRq : Emergency Sync
Apr 15 18:36:22 mash kernel: Emergency Sync complete
Apr 15 18:36:28 mash kernel: SysRq : Emergency Remount R/O

and the next time:
Apr 15 20:53:38 mash kernel: SysRq : Emergency Sync
Apr 15 20:53:38 mash kernel: Emergency Sync complete
^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@

BTW I should have filed this as bug report for xserver-xorg-video-intel,
because with vesa or fbdev the vt-switching works, albeit xserver is
a wee bit slow.

Bug#622894: xserver-xorg: VT switching does not work.

2011-04-15 Thread Enno Deimel
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.6+6
Severity: important

VT switching (via Ctrl-Alt-F[1-6]) does not work. When trying to switch, X
seems to freeze: no response to kbd, mouse pointer disappears, xclock stops
dead.

But, in fact the VT has switched, it is just not reflected on video: Can type
commands, restart xdm and suchlike, when typing blind. And, when switching
back to VT7 (via Alt+F7) everything pops back into life.

This is the very behaviour I reported before for xserver-xorg 7.3+20 (i386).

On some occasions though I couldn't get back to VT7, only solution left was
magic sysrq -- or power button.

 Wrong. /usr/share/doc/xserver-xorg-video-intel/README.Debian

A yea, that ONE (missed it b/o package purged by now :(). But not in
either of xorg-docs_1:1.6-1 and xorg-docs-core_1:1.6-1, which seem to be
the most current ones.

And as I said the drm_i915 module is loaded with the 2.6.32-5-686
kernel, and the modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf entry is present as well,
X still 'finds no screens' and thus aborts.

2011-03-07 Thread enno . vet
JC == Julien Cristau jcris...@debian.org writes:
Looks like you have disabled kms. Don't do that.

Now how would I do that?

In both my custom 2.6.30 and std debian 2.6.32-5-686 DRM_I915_KMS is not
set -- and says: [...] will cause pain. [...] precludes loading things
like intelfb.

In 2.6.30 there is no DRM_KMS_HELPER. With the std debian kernel the
kms_helper module is loaded automa[gt]ically, but makes no difference.

xserver-xorg-video-intel up to and including 2:2.9.1-1 worked fine for
me. Unfortunately I can't find that anywhere, thus am forced to use
2:2.3.2-2+lenny8 from oldstable, which somehow seems to me not to work
as well (slowing things down).

There's no mention of KMS anywhere in the X accompanying docs.

Please convince me that Intel is NOT trying to produce a catchall for
915 different cards/chips, which practically only works on 50% of
them -- or maybe just not on the one I have!

Should you (hopefully) care to reply, please consider this as well:
Would it be appropriate to create a new bugreport that reflects the
actually described problem, or do we simply run on with the 'crashes
X'-subject?

Brgds, ed.

Believe it or not, I can't reproduce the behaviour. I must have
upgraded some lib involved in this, and I'm sure I won't be able to
re-establish the exact same software situation on my system, alas.

Instead now the xserver-xorg-video-intel thing doesn't even start at
all. No matter if on my custom kernel or std deb 2.6.32-5-686.

Again, xserver-xorg-video-vesa works.

The only abnormal finding in kern.log, occuring when starting xorg with the
vesa driver:
Mar 4 12:56:17 mash kernel: [20797.818002] mtrr: base(0xc000) is not
aligned on a size(0x7b) boundary
Mar 4 13:00:47 mash kernel: [21068.387185] mtrr: no MTRR for c000,7b
found
Mar 4 13:00:47 mash kernel: [21068.395407] mtrr: base(0xc000) is not
aligned on a size(0x7b) boundary

All other log files WNL (messages daemon.log debug etc.pp.).

Bug#616086: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Arbitrarily crashes X

2011-03-03 Thread enno . vet
Dear Julien,

 Version: 2:2.3.2-2+lenny8
This doesn't correspond to the version in your log file below. Which is
 it?

Sorry for the mixup. I had in the meantime downgraded the driver to
have a working X available.

The video driver in question is:
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.13.0-5

 Linux version 2.6.30.bootlogd (2.6.30) (root@mash) (gcc version 4.3.4
 (Debian 4.3.4-6) ) #1 Fri Sep 3 18:13:12 CEST 2010
What is this kernel? Is the issue reproducible with the standard Debian
 kernel?

My kernel is a custom kernel of debian linux-source 2.6.30.
I doubt that a standard debian kernel would make any difference, as the
incriminated behaviour does NOT occur when using either
xserver-xorg-video-fbdev or xserver-xorg-video-vesa drivers (they're
just incredibly slow).

Moreover all prerequisites according to the README files regarding
kernel config are fulfilled.

But should you insist -- I'm prepared to do the test.

2011-03-03 Thread enno . vet
Dear Julien,

Again, when I sent the report I had already downgraded to have a working
system at hand.

Package in question is:
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.13.0-5

As kibi at debian dot org has suggested, I'll do some testing with a
standard debian 2.6.32 kernel and let you know what happens.

Bug#616086: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Arbitrarily crashes X

2011-03-02 Thread Enno Deimel
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.3.2-2+lenny8
Severity: important

Video driver spontaneously kills xorg (without apparent causative user
interaction). Could be severe if occurring with other hardware as well.

Furthermore the driver seems to grab video and not releasing it again: black
screen apparently unresponsive to mouse or keyboard -- in fact the system is
listening on console but one has to type blind.

VT switching does not work properly anymore: The driver seems to grab the

Bug#574587: -L does not show active connections

2011-03-02 Thread Enno Gröper
Package: ipvsadm
Version: 1:1.25.clean-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

Please apply the submitted patch and release a new version. I want to
upgrade my production servers and would really appreciate, if
ipvsadm -L would still work correctly after the upgrade from lenny to
squeeze.
At the moment, as said, active connections aren't shown.
The current version of Ubuntu incorporates the patch.

With kind regards,
Enno

Instead it leaves the state from _before_ the cancelling.

Bug#557425: More problems

2009-12-27 Thread enno . vet
Installing grub-pc left my system unbootable, too.

It just says: Error 15
(or similar)

I suspect that this message comes from the original (now named legacy) grub, as
the MBR hasn't been changed at all.

Good Luck my trust in debian wasn't that great as NOT to produce some sort of
boot-device in advance -- in my case a CD, as my laptop doesn't have a floppy
drive. This is the first time I've ever been let down by debian.

Anyway, reading through the bug list I found some things and tried:
# dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc
and got the followin whiptail question:

-| Configuring grub-pc |---
The following Linux command line was extracted from /etc/default/grub
or the `kopt' parameter in GRUB Legacy's menu.lst. Please verify that
it is correct, and modify it if necessary.

Linux command line:

---

 Ok

Now that isn't very convincing. I'm not impressed.

To add to confusion:
my /boot is a separate partition on (hd0,0) usually mounted ro, root is on
(hd0,3), whereas (hd0,2) is occupied by some proprietary software that seems to
have been correctly identified for the use of creating grub.conf:

menuentry Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (on /dev/hda2) {
insmod ntfs
set root=(hd0,2)
search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set xyz
drivemap -s (hd0) ${root}
chainloader +1
}

Then (having just hit enter) I get this (as mentioned in previous bug reports):
-| Configuring grub-pc |
  GRUB install devices:

   [ ] /dev/hda

   Ok

This time I hit space to mark the offered entry. Get answer:

Replacing config file /etc/default/grub with new version
Installation finished. No error reported.
Generating grub.cfg ...
Found linux image: [...]
Found Micr[...]
done

Miraculously, now it works.

Still, the console isn't configured properly. The grub-shell help is nearly as
bad as Windows Help.

Whatever, this will create so many 'debian is unstable' or 'linux is unstable'
(or replace unstable with unreliable if you like) that if I were in charge I'd
immediately remove this package from stable and also remove all dependencies
within stable, and resort to good old grub(-now: legacy) or even lilo.

Brgds.

Bug#524554: Bug not fixed in skencil-0.6.17-17

2009-12-03 Thread enno . vet
As Octavian Voicu reported, the patch lets skencil start, but the the actual
bug is just prevented from raising an exception. The intended file menu is
repeated thrice. Skencil does work, but the bug isn't fixed.

But it can be fixed with tiny patch found on:

Bug#492590: gnome-appearance-properties does not show thumbnails and uses 100% CPU

2008-07-27 Thread Enno Weichert
Package: gnome-control-center
Version: 1:2.22.2.1-1
Severity: important

*** Please type your report below this line ***
Gnome-appearance-properties does not show most of the listbox thumbnails
(themes, controls, windows borders and icons) showing a generic picture
instead with a big question mark in it, only wallpapers and cursors are
shown.
The program uses 100% CPU and remains in memory after being closed
(still using 100% CPU), sending SIGTERM suffices in killing the app.

A new user with an empty %HOME% will not encounter this bug.

There is an Ubuntu bug report maybe covering the issue on:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/211384
At least the screenshot shows exactly the appearance as I see it:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13095778/customize_screenshots.jpg

Having read #448902 I'm adding the following information:
/desktop/gnome/interface/gtk_theme Glossy
/desktop/gnome/interface/icon_theme self-made
/apps/metacity/general/themeGlossy
Although changing these will not change the behaviour described above.

gtk2-engines1:2.14.3-1 0
gnome-themes2.22.2-1 0

That's it, keep up good work!

Bug#470992: gnome-panel: Notification area shows weird vertical 'streaks'

2008-03-14 Thread Enno Weichert
Package: gnome-panel
Version: 2.20.3-3
Severity: minor

Starting up Gnome the notification area is placed a tiny bit more far away from
the rest of my applets, the space is clear.
When I now move the notification applet 'into' the other applets, I can see
some vertical streaks, like there are icons, reduced to 1px width.
Moving back the space is clear again.
I have a screenshot of that, but not knowing if reportbug will let me add
attachments I give you a link:
http://www.abload.de/img/bildschirmfotoyn4.png
I have played around with the session configuration, thinking it could be
remains of some broken notify icons but nothing helped.

Bug#400099: svn_client_commit3: Assertion `*commit_info_p' failed.

2007-06-07 Thread Enno Groeper
Package: subversion
Followup-For: Bug #400099

I have got the same problem.
Everything works fine without post-commit hooks. But my post-commit hook
file, that worked fine with subversion 1.1.4-2 doesn't work with
subversion 1.4.2dfsg1-2~bpo.1.
Even if I change it to a minimal test (whoami /tmp/whoami.out) or
comment every line out it doesn't work (the normal command is using
absolute paths, so this should'nt be the problem.).
It only works if I delete the post-commit file.
For now I downgraded to subversion 1.1.4-2 again, but I didn't upgrade
for nothing. I wanted to get a software package work, which works better
with subversion 1.1 (and there isn't anything between 1.1 and 1.4 in
the repositories)
With subversion 1.1.4-2 everything works fine.

Apt-file does not honor the --architecture option, both while updating
and querying the database.

Here's a patch for the problem.

Bug#348228: starttls: segfault when displaying program usage

2006-01-15 Thread Enno Cramer
Package: starttls
Version: 0.10-2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

On architectures where sizeof(int) != sizeof(char*), starttls dies
with a segmentation fault, while trying to display the program usage
information. The bug is caused by a missing prototype for basename(3)
in starttls.c, thus misinterpreting the return value from basename.
The included patch adds the prototype by adding the missing include.
