Hello,
please remove zope-cps from debian: it is unmaintained upstream, as Nuxeo
is switching from Zope to Java, and it is not compatible with the current
zope2.9 package in testing/unstable.

Thanks,

 Hello

It seems as if there is no support for python 2.5 in this package:

Uhm, you are right: python-psycopg misses the 2.5 support, but I do not
understand if this should be fixed in etch or just in etch+1. Running
pyversions does not provide python2.5 with any of the command line switches.
Cc'ing [EMAIL PROTECTED], so somebody with a better knowledge of the python

Bug#404601: websvn: Missing alternate dependency on libapache2-mod-php5

2006-12-26 Thread Fabio Tranchitella
Package: websvn
Version: 1.61-20
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Hello,
please modify the dependency on php[45] to prefer php5 instead of php4
and to add libapache2-mod-php5 which is actually missing.

Original:

Depends: apache2 | httpd, php4 (= 4.3.0) | libapache2-mod-php4 | php4-cgi |
php5, subversion, debconf (= 0.2.26) | debconf-2.0, po-debconf, ucf (= 0.8)

Recommended:

Depends: apache2 | httpd, libapache2-mod-php5 | php5 | php5-cgi |
libapache2-mod-php4 | php4 (= 4.1.0) | php4-cgi (= 4.1.0), debconf (=
0.2.26) | debconf-2.0, po-debconf, ucf (= 0.8)

Please, apply this patch and target it to etch: it is actually
impossible for me to install websvn on my server running etch which uses
libapache2-mod-php5.

Thanks for maintaining websvn!

This is not a bug, but the intended behaviour of the program. In order to use

Also, be sure to have a look at the examples in /usr/share/doc/gtkdialog.

Bug#402075: dovecotpw only prints help message on powerpc

Hi Koen,

When running dovecotpw on powerpc (a Buffalo Linkstation HG), no matter
what command line parameters I pass, I always get the help message. For
 example:

 # dovecotpw -l
 usage: dovecotpw [-l] [-p plaintext] [-s scheme] [-u user] [-V]
 -lList known password schemes
 -p plaintext New password
 -s scheme Password scheme
-u user Username (if scheme uses it)
 -VInternally verify the hash

When doing the same on i386, it does work correctly, so it seems
 architecture-dependent.

I'm not able to test dovecotpw on powerpc because I am away from my usual
workstation so I can't connect to debian.org machines. I'll test it next
week, in the meanwhile could you please check if previous versions worked
correctly?

The problem with the way you have it set up now is that upon installation
of phpLDAPadmin, it becomes the default page for the host instead of
whatever the sysadmin wanted to be the default page. Conf.d is parsed
before sites-enabled (which includes the directives for the default page),
so the default is no longer the default. In my case, it brought down my
employer's website in favor of the LDAP web configuration site. That didn't
go over so well with the boss.

Can I ask how is it possible that this snippet:

IfModule mod_alias.c
Alias /phpldapadmin /usr/share/phpldapadmin/htdocs
/IfModule

can replace your website with a phpLDAPadmin installation? It seems to be
impossible, as it should only mount the software under /phpldapadmin.

When apache2.conf is loaded, it first includes ../conf.d to pick up
miscellaneous server configurations and then includes ../sites-enable to
pick up configurations relating to particular sites. (Sites in this
context doesn't just refer to vhosts or separate domains. It refers to any
self-contained URL and related directory structure like the phpLDAPadmin
 page.)

I'll have a look at the relevant documentation, but after a long e-mail as
yours I would think that you have good reasons to insist on this issue. :)

Alias and Directory directives are precisely what should go into the
../sites-available directory. They are the principal directives (in
addition to VirtualHost) that control virtual hosting and directory
structure rewriting rules. The apache conf for phpldapadmin contains
exactly the same sort of information as in
/etc/apache2/sites-available/default. (I note, by the way, that the
phpLDAPadmin apache.conf file also includes vhost information, which would
  clearly part of sites-available.)

This has just a endeavour: phpldapadmin won't be accessible and enabled by
default, and the system administrator will have to manually run a2ensite in
order to enable the alias directive in his configuration.

Thanks again for your excellent work on this package.

Thanks for your kind email,

Fabio

Hi,
the random password auto-generated by dbconfig-common for the postgresql user
which will be used by the application can contain invalid utf-8 sequences.
When creating a postgresql database on an utf-8 enabled system, the invalid

I'm able to reproduce this behaviour using zabbix packages from experimental.

Is it possible to use only ascii characters for auto-generated passwords?

Bug#388072: Test needed: non-root usage of dzhandle for zope {2.9, 3}

2006-11-03 Thread Fabio Tranchitella
Hi folks,

I know that we are in hurry for the release, but I'd like to upload a new
zope-common for etch with non-root usage support for dzhandle and the
current zope2.9 and zope3 packages in testing.

For non-root usage, I mean the ability to create, manage and run zope and
zeo instances as normal user without any special permission and within the
own user's home directory. I must admit that this feature has been long-waited,
and the implementation (which is non-intrusive and required minimal effort)
stayed on my laptop for a few months before landing on the newly created svn
repository.

You can find the new zope-common package here:

 Hi !

Compiling dovecot with inotify support could boost performances. I
think you need to source depend on linux-kernel-header since inotify
should be on by default if correct header is installed.

Build-depending on linux-kernel-headers would render dovecot not buildable on
non-linux ports (like, for example, GNU/kFreeBSD). I'm not aware of a good
way to avoid this; if you know a good way to solve this issue, let me know
and I'll be glad to apply it.

Have a nice day,

Are you talking about uploads in Debian? Zope3.3 has been uploaded a few

context.

SchoolBell needs to be updated to work with Zope 3.3, but it looks as if
upstream is not willing to make that happen. No outside volunteers have
appeared to take over that role.

Well, doesn't schooltool depend on schoolbell? How can upstream release

conditional import, isn't it?

Bug#391758: Upgrade path for plone 2.1 - 2.5

2006-10-09 Thread Fabio Tranchitella
severity 391758 important
thanks

Hi,

first of all, let's downgrade the severity of the bug report: plone
2.1 is not part of a stable release: sarge includes plone 2.0.4 which is
not managed by dzhandle, so it is not affected by this issue.

Anyway, this affaire could be problematic for etch+1 so it surely
needs attention. I'll deeply test the upgrade path from 2.1 to 2.5 in
the next days, as well as a bunch of other changes for zope-common I'd
like to do before the general freeze.

One thing which I would need is a good testing of upgrades.. are you
available for a few test upgrades in the next days if I hand you the new
packages before the uploads? Obviously, this testing request is open for
everybody so contact me by email if you have some spare time and you're
willing to help.

Thanks for raising this problem up,

Sorry, the changelog it wasn't enough clear.. this is my fault.

Anyway, the 2.5.1 release fixes the problem in unstable but the problem

I still do not understand... after start-up, zope uses the zope user.
I've created a hacked product, with a __init__.py like this:

import os; os.system(touch /tmp/abc.txt)

After start-up, the /tmp/abc.txt is owned by zope:zope which is correct.
So, what are you talking about?

Are /var/lib/zope2.9/instance/devel/bin/runzope

If you want to write on it, then you must be within the zope group, and
if the system administrator adds you to a system group it must know what
he is doing.

Bug#384437: Installation report from Dell PowerEdge 2950

2006-08-24 Thread Fabio Tranchitella
 systems:[O]
Mount partitions: [O]
Install base system:[O]
Install boot loader:[O]
Reboot: [E]

Comments/Problems:

The server has a DRAC (Dell Remote Access Card) which allows the remote
administration
of the system and which provides virtual floppy and cd-rom drives. One of them
(I suppose
the cd-rom one) is supported as removable scsi device.

The two SCSI disks are configured in RAID-1 with a SCSI RAID controller which
requires the
metaraid_sas module.

In the first part of the installation, this module wasn't loaded so the
removable SCSI
device was /dev/sda and the SCSI disks weren't accessible. After the Detect
hard drives
phase, the megaraid_sas module was loaded and the RAID-1 disk were detected as
/dev/sdb.

After the first reboot, the machine failed to start:

1. The initrd didn't load the megeraid_sas module, so the disk wasn't detected.

2. After booting in rescue mode, adding megaraid_sas to the list of modules to
load
(/etc/initramfs-tools/modules) and run update-initramfs, the problem was that
megaraid_sas was loaded before the removable SCSI module so the RAID disk was
detected as /dev/sda instead of /dev/sdb.

3. After booting again in rescue mode and changing /etc/fstab to match /dev/sda,
   the system went up.

I wonder why the installer doesn't add megaraid_sas to the list of additional
modules
for initramfs if it uses that module to detect the disks? And, in any case,
this will
change the order of the disk devices depending on the order with the modules
are loaded.

Thanks,

 Package: plone-site
 Version: 2.5-1
 Severity: grave
 Justification: renders package unusable

Hi Soren, thanks for your report.

First of all, I adjusted the severity of the report because the package
is installable in a clean testing/unstable environment, and we are not
going to support upgrade from plone-site (based on zope2.8) and the
actual version of plone-site because the former wasn't included in
sarge.

Now, let's go ahead.

I am running Debian testing on i386. I just upgraded to plone-site 2.5-1 and
Zope 2.9. I was running the previous release on Plone on Zope 2.8. After
the upgrade Plone would not work on Zope 2.8 or Zope 2.9. There is no Plone
Site option in the Select type to add... dropdown box in the Zope
Management Interface. The only options related to Plone are Plone Language
Tool and PlonePAS Tool. I backed up my data files, purged all Zope and
Plone packages, and reinstalled but had the same results. I also tried
installing plone-site on an AMD64/testing with the same results.

I suspect you are still looking at the zope2.8 instance which
(obviously) will be broken by the upgrade. Everything starts with a
Zope2.8 plone-site instance, then you upgrade plone-site which does:

1. upgrade all the zope-* packages to be compatible with Plone 2.5
2. install zope2.9 (because Plone 2.5 requires it)
3. create a new plone-site instance for zope2.9
4. leave untouched the old zope2.8-based plone-site instance.

Yeah, I could remove the old zope2.8-based plone-instance but this would
mean data-loss; an automatic migration between zope2.8 and zope2.9 is
not supported, so there are no other solutions.

Please let me know if there is anything else I should try. Thanks for all
your hard work maintaining the plone packages.

Could you please confirm me that you are looking at the zope2.9
instance? And, please, could you attach to your bug report the list of
zope packages installed (something like `dpkg -l | grep zope` is
enough).

Thanks,

It should, but apt does not. Try the following commands:

apt-get install wordpress apache2 libapache2-mod-php5 php5-mysql
(this doesn't work as expected)

apt-get install apache2 libapache2-mod-php5 php5-mysql wordpress

With your suggestion, now apache2 becomes default. Sooner or later
someone is going to file a bug moaning that apache2 was installed even
though he has another httpd server. Or am I wrong? :)

You are wrong: if he already has another http server with php4 or php5,
everything is ok. This only affects the case when the dependency is not
satisfied by already installed packages (which includes the ones you

The behavior continues to seem undesirable for me, and I see a number
 of problem areas:
 1) upgrades respecting runlevel
 2) upgrades respecting instance selection in /etc/default/
 3) documentation.

I may have misunderstood or missed something, however.

Restart behaviour on upgrades can't be unified with system start-up
behaviour: I have several zope instances which I can't restart untill
the week-end or holidays, and in this way I can upgrade the machine at
any day, and then plan the restart. Even if an instance is started at
boot-time, this doesn't mean it is useful for me if apt tries to restart
it on upgrade. Also, think about the product upgrades: Plone 2.0.2 -
2.0.3 requires migration, and this is something which I would prefer to
do in a second moment for **a particular** instance.

So, about the bug: what about restarting instances only if it is already
running? In my opinion this is the best solution. Anyway, I'll add some
documentation about the restart-policy (even if my english is terrible).
Especially for this last point, any help is welcome.

Bug#375811: closed by Michael Ablassmeier [EMAIL PROTECTED] (on backports.org)

Il giorno mar, 11/07/2006 alle 13.21 +0200, Robert Millan [ackstorm] ha
scritto:
 Hi Michael,

Hi Robert,

My report was a request to relax build-dependencies in order to facilitate
 backports:

 -Build-Depends: debhelper (= 5.0.0), libsnmp9-dev, libmysqlclient15-dev,
 libpq-dev, libldap2-dev
 +Build-Depends: debhelper (= 4.0.0), libsnmp9-dev | libsnmp-dev,
 libmysqlclient15-dev | libmysqlclient14-dev, libpq-dev | postgresql-dev,
 libldap2-dev

rather than to create them for backports.org. We're already rolling our own
backport of this package, with some local customisation, but it'd be nice if
we could derive from the official package when updating it.

I think that modifying the build-dependencies for the package which is
uploaded for etch to include the sarge dependencies is not the right
thing to do. I know that it is improbable, but the auto-builders could
link the binaries to different versions of the libraries (eg.
libmysqlclient15-dev vs. libmysqlclient14-dev) and it is not a clean
solution.

All in all, backports.org is there for this purpose and the package
builds fine with sarge + backports.

Cheers,

I complitely agree: the main purpose of the new python policy (as far as
I understand) is that adding/removing python versions will just require
binNMUs in order to fix the packages. Adding a static provides would
prevent this, and the python policy says that they are required for
extensions and not for modules.

I fully agree with your bug report, but...

... and this, combined with the fact that Debian changed the
distribution path /lib/python to /lib/python2.4/site-packages, makes it
impossible to run tests from zopectl with instances created with these
 skeletons.

... Debian didn't changed the distribution path. Taken from
debian/rules:

./configure \
  --prefix=/usr/lib/$(ZOPE) \
  --with-python=$(PYTHONBIN) \
  --force
$(PYTHONBIN) install.py build

AFAIK, there is no Debian modification and the upstream build system,
when called as above, will install under
$PREFIX/lib/python2.4/site-packages.

Do you have any suggestion/patch to workaround this behaviour, instead
of exporting ZOPE_HOME inside the skeletons?

reconnected with phpldapadmin using the admin user.

Could you please send me the configuration file of phpldapadmin

and the authorization section from your /etc/ldap/slapd.conf? A dump of
your ldap directory would help, too: reading your report it seems that
it is quite simple, so it could be a good test case for upstream, too.

This is not a general problem, so I'm quite sure that there is a
particular configuration which triggers it.

Please report this bug by clicking below!

Moreover, there were no link below :-)

Oh, this is a funny behaviour of phpldapadmin! It seems that the
upstream developers do not want to receive bug reports at all. :)
