Bug#848940: ipset: bash complestion error

2016-12-27 Thread Neutron Soutmun
Package: ipset
Followup-For: Bug #848940

Hello Gedalya,

I try to reproduce this bug on my machine but it doesn't.

From your debug log, I follow the "syntax error" in _ipset_know_hosts(),
perhaps, there are something wrong in _known_hosts_real().

Please ensure that the installed bash-completion is the latest one
(1:2.1-4.3) but I quite sure that you have done already.

Therefore, please do the further debugging in the
/usr/share/bash-completion/bash_completion for _known_hosts_real()
function.

It look weird,

Bug#799255: libmnl: please bump priority

2016-02-22 Thread Neutron Soutmun
Package: src:libmnl
Followup-For: Bug #799255

Hi Arturo,

  As of the current iptables 1.6.0-2 does not depend on libmnl yet.
The highest priority of packages that depend on libmnl is 'optional',
such as iptables-nftables-compat, conntrack, contrackd etc.
  Therefore, I will hold the bump priority until the next libmnl
upstream release, perhaps bump to 'optional' or higher priority up to
the packages that depend on it at that time.

  Thanks for your initial patch, It fixes the FTBFS.
But I think, the symbols visibility may be different with clang,
even though the clang is supporting visibility attribute.

  Therefore, I have prepared the full patch [1] apply to libmnl git
master branch. If upstream agree with this approach then I will
backport this patch to Debian.

 Dear Maintainer,

 If set has huge default timeout value, or you try to add entry with huge
 timeout value, ipset uses 4294967 instead on x86_64 arch.

 How to reproduce:

 1. Create testing set
 ipset create testset hash:ip timeout 2419200

 2. Add new netry and check timeout value
 ipset add testset 1.2.3.4 ; ipset list testset | grep 1.2.3.4

I have prepared the proposed patch, waiting for upstream to review.

 Dear mentors,

   Version : 1.0.0-1
   Upstream Author : Pablo Neira Ayuso pa...@netfilter.org
 * URL : http://www.netfilter.org
 * License : GPL-2+
   Section : libs

 It builds those binary packages:

  libnftnl-dev - Development files for libnftnl0
  libnftnl0 - Netfilter nftables userspace API library
  libnftnl0-dbg - Debugging symbols for libnftnl0

 To access further information about this package, please visit the following
 URL:

 Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:
   dget -x
 http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/libn/libnftnl/libnftnl_1.0.0-1.dsc

 This package includes the first Netfilter oficial release of libnftnl.

 The library is the userspace, low-level, API to the nftables kernel
 subsystem.
 So, for using nftables, you need libnftnl, the nft CLI tool, and a proper
 Linux kernel.
 Note that nftables is supported in Linux kernel since 3.13.

 I don't like it. If not required, I would leave this as is.

just an example,

$ git diff

=== 8 ===
-Build-Depends: debhelper (= 9), dh-autoreconf, automake, libtool
(=2.2.6), libmnl-dev, flex, bison, libnftables-dev, libgmp-dev,

If not apply the wrap-and-sort, it will make the diff a little bit
ugly and harder to find a change.
BTW, it's a decision of the package maintainer to appy or not apply it.

Hello,

I have no right to upload, but I'm interested in nftables also.
therefore, I have both dget and git clone your source package for
testing and reviewing.

Below is my review.

* debian/control:
  + could bump the standards-version to 3.9.5 as lintian has warned right now.
   (found a revert commit in git :P)
  + cosmetic, please apply wrap-and-sort -sa

* debian/copyright:
  + forgot the debian/* license
  + the upstream license could be GPL-2+ as mention in the COPYING file

* debian/watch:
  + I know you plan the watch file for the upstream first release but
it could be changed later, for my suggestion is

=== 8 ===
opts=uversionmangle=s/^/0.0.0~/ \
  http://ftp.netfilter.org/pub/libnftables/snapshot/libnftables-(\d\S*).tar.bz2
=== 8 ===

just track the snapshot tarball, I know it's nonsense but it's not
broken watch file :)

* vcs-git:
  + cloned, the git buildpackage -S is failed. the upstream tag
 upstream/0.0.0_20131209  is missing.

Hopefully, the package will be sponsored soon. Good luck.

Best regards,
Neutron Soutmun

 isn't needed, since 3.9.3.

I'm not quite sure that the policy said isn't needed as

12.5 `debian/copyright' is no longer required to list the Debian
maintainers involved in the creation of the package (although note
that the requirement to list copyright information is unchanged).

I interpret that,
  + list the Debian maintainers involved in the creation of the
package is no longer required
  + the copyright information of files included debian/* is unchanged.

Maybe, I'm wrong and sorry for the noise.

 Nice, thank you for your work. :)

It's my pleasure.

 I hope you'll forgive me for pedantic nitpicking but let's fix the
 following minor issues before we upload:

  * Standards 3.9.4 (expected current version 3.9.5).

bumped it, no changes needed.

  * Needless versioned Build-Depends on debhelper (this exact version
is in stable). Besides is there are any features of this
particular version is in use?

My intention is also to backporting it to sqeeze which running some of
my production servers.
But I think I could change it to (= 9~) as the squeeze-backports is
only providing the 9.20120909~bpo60+1 as of now.

  * Short package description starts with capital letter (lowercase
would be better).
fixed it.

uploaded to mentors.d.n, please review

 IMHO ipset can live in /usr/sbin until libmnl gets moved to /, but you

Sure, I'll file a bug to libmnl. Thanks, that you remind me again.

 I think, it's not appropriate to install ipset in /sbin when it's still

 That depends.  If it *is* going to get moved to /sbin, it is best to
 already ship it in /sbin so that people don't start using

Bug#672394: RFS: ipset/6.12-1 -- administration tool for kernel IP sets

Hi,

 this is a review of your package ipset.

 * Do not set DM-Upload-Allowed: yes on your own. It's your sponsor's
 domain to do so. It's hard enough to find sponsors as is, no need to
 scare off even more potential sponsors by adding DMUA for packages which
 show up on debian-mentors without prior agreement.

Sorry, drop in the latest upload.

 * You declare the debhelper compat[ibility] to be 9, but you build
 depend on debhelper (= 9). Please use a version which actually
 supports the finalized level 9. That is 9.20120115.

I'm following the debhelper(7) manpage which it said that add
debhelper (= 9) for compat level 9.
However, I adjust it to debhelper (= 9.20120115~) as your suggestion.

 * Do not start with uppercase characters in libipset-dev's description.
 You did it correctly for the other binary package, though.

Adjusted and for libipset2 description also.

 * Why do you use dh_autoreconf? You do not patch automake stuff and a
 brief test seems to confirm it is not needed.

Drop, it's unnecessary as your suggestion.

 * Are you sure about the location of the binary in the file system?
 iptables is in /sbin, why do you install ipset to /usr/sbin?

The ipset depends on libmnl which it is installed in /usr/lib or
/usr/lib/[arch triplet] if it willing support multiarch.

I think, it's not appropriate to install ipset in /sbin when it's still
depends on libmnl that installed in /usr.

 I am willing to sponsor your package if you fix the fist two concerns at
 very least.

Thanks in advance and please review again.

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  http://mentors.debian.net/package/ipset

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/i/ipset/ipset_6.12.1-1.dsc

Changes since the last upload:

  * Imported Upstream version 6.12.1
  * debian/patches/99-ipset-shared-libs.patch:
- Drop as the upstream provides the configuration parameters to force
  the ipset binary to link with shared lib.
  * debian/patches/90-fix-typo.patch: Add typo fix
  * Enable settype dynamic modules support
* debian/rules:
  - Add --enable-settype-modules to configure.
All settype modules still build as static which included in libipset
as usual but the ipset binary could runtime load the additional modules
installed at /usr/lib/[arch triplet]/ipset.
* debian/control:
  - Add libltdl-dev to build-dep.
  * debian/libipset2.symbols: Add symbols file
  * debian/control:
  - Set debhelper (= 9.20120115~). (thanks, Arno Töll)
  - Drop dh-autoreconf from build-deps as it's unnecessary.
(thanks, Arno Töll)
  - Adjust the packages description which should not start with capital
letter. (thanks, Arno Töll)
  * debian/rules: Drop autoreconf addon from debhelper configuration.

 See [1] for more details.

Ok, drop those lines from debian/changelog and will follow the [1] soon.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Bug#656870: libmnl: New upstream release version 1.0.2

2012-01-22 Thread Neutron Soutmun
Source: libmnl
Version: 1.0.1
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

  The new upstream release version 1.0.2 is out, please consider to
package it.

  However, I have prepared the package 1.0.2-0.1 that could be found at
http://mentors.debian.net/package/libmnl.

  dget -x
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/libm/libmnl/libmnl_1.0.2-0.1.dsc

  Despite the version number, it does not mean that I will NMU
your package but just only prepare the stuffs that you may consider it worth
to include in the new release of libmnl pacakge, perhaps nothing, it's
not a problem :)

  BTW, I know you always have many works to do, please take care your health.
Since we met last time in Taiwan MiniDebconf 2009, I must say many
thanks for your advices and sponsored my package also.

  Please keep do the good jobs, I'll learn from your experitise :)

  Thanks for your attention in advance.

Best regards,
Neutron Soutmun

Bug#656343: ITP: ipset -- administration tool for kernel IP sets

2012-01-18 Thread Neutron Soutmun
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Neutron Soutmun neo.neut...@gmail.com

* Package name: ipset
  Version : 6.11
  Upstream Author : Jozsef Kadlecsik kad...@blackhole.kfki.hu
* URL : http://ipset.netfilter.org/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : administration tool for kernel IP sets

IP sets are a framework inside the Linux 2.4.x and 2.6.x kernel which can be
administered by the ipset(8) utility. Depending on the type, currently an
IP set may store IP addresses, (TCP/UDP) port numbers or IP addresses with
MAC addresses in a way which ensures lightning speed when matching an
entry against a set.

If you want to

 * store multiple IP addresses or port numbers and match against the
   entire collection using a single iptables rule.
 * dynamically update iptables rules against IP addresses or ports without
   performance penalty.
 * express complex IP address and ports based rulesets with a single
   iptables rule and benefit from the speed of IP sets.

then IP sets may be the proper tool for you.

Note: As the package ipset has been removed from the Debian archive
  unstable with the reason as decribed in http://bugs.debian.org/651790
  which the ipset fails to build against current kernel; no response from
  maintainer.

  But it's not a problem now as the ipset already included in the recent kernel
  , kernel 3.1 in wheezy/sid and also the 3.2 in experimental are fine,
  no needs to build any modules.

  Therefore, I intend to package and has already started (based on the latest
  ipset package that was removed and more updates). The package could
  be uploaded soon.

  now, follow up but keep working continue on the old patch which won't get
  me
  more confusion.

 Well, part of the reason I pointed you to that repository is the fact
 that there's a patch in there (for #557810) that conflicts with yours.
 It'd be cool if you could update it so that it would apply cleanly to
 that version, and then I can easily do an upstream release immediately
 followed by a Debian package.

 Are you working on that? If not, that's not a problem, I'll do it
 myself; it's just that it'd probably be easier for you at this point.
 But if you don't have the time, or are tired of it, or are working on
 something else, I'll finish this off.

Sorry for late response, I have something else to do, but I still thinking
of the solution for #557810 which the user parsing the hostname for
listening address that case for example

# nbd-server localhost:12345 `pwd`/nbd-file 1G -C /dev/null

which localhost may resolve in both IPv4 (127.0.0.1) and IPv6 (::1)
Therefore, I think that if I'm using getaddrinfo() to get each information
and add to server listening pool only if it valid, it's better, isn't it ?

Or localhost:12345 is only mean 127.0.0.1 port 12345 ?
If it is this case, when parsing this command line should set the
socket family to AF_INET.

If now this case is ignored, I think I can prepare the patch for you which
diff from git repository that I reviewed already that the patch does
not conflict much.
I test that hostname parsing is OK but only the first info that
getaddrinfo() return could
setup for listening.

Neutron Soutmun

The latest patch to master branch of git repository is attached.
Please review the patch again.

It's also solved the #557810.

Add append_serve() more over the last patch to verify the parsing
listening address which now the parsing listening address could
be IPv4/IPv6 and also hostname. The service will resolve the hostname
and try to listening on all of them.

If the hostname/address could not solve, must show the error

# nbd-server testing:12345 /home/neutron/temp/test.img -C /dev/null
getaddrinfo failed on listen host/address: testing (Name or service not known)

If parsing hostname,

# nbd-server localhost:12345 /home/neutron/temp/test.img -C /dev/null
It will listen on 127.0.0.1:12345

# nbd-server ip6-localhost:12345 /home/neutron/temp/test.img -C /dev/null
It will listen on ::1...@12345

 I have provide the initial patch for IPv6 support in
 nbd-{server, client} which the nbd-server able to
 serve in both IPv4 and IPv6 requests.

 Patch is attached.

 The client can connect to the server that listen on
 IPv6 or IPv4 like this on command line

 # nbd-client ::1...@1 /dev/nbd0
 or
 # nbd-client 127.0@1 /dev/nbd0

 Substitute the port separator from : to @.

 Indeed, that would be required for proper IPv6 support.

 However, I'd like to have some way of backwards compatibility. Since
 IPv6 addresses have at least two colons in them, we could check whether
 there are two or more, and if not, assume that the colon is still the
 separator.

 That shouldn't cause too much of a problem.

Update as your advice which now the IPv4 address and port could either have
separator : or @ but the IPv6 is strictly @.

What is the reason for that? Doesn't AF_UNSPEC already mean we're
listening for v6 addresses, too? Or am I missing something?

nbd-server using SERVER that only has a single listening socket which
if I need to handle both IPv4 (AF_INET) and IPv6 (AF_INET6),
I must setup both in separated server (IPv6 could handle the IPv4 connection
but only in the system that allow to do the v4 mapped).

The AF_UNSPEC is only using for the hinting to calling getaddrinfo() which
it may return the addresses (linked-list) of IPv4 and/or IPv6.
We could use these addrinfo data to setup the listening socket and also bind it.

 Please don't do gratuitous whitespace changes; they convolute the patch
 and make it harder to see what's going on.

Sorry, just confuse a litle bit to follow your code-style but I try to keep it
as you want.

 This would mean that if someone were to use 'nbd-server 0.0.0.0:1234' to
 explicitly bind to an IPv4 address, this would not work.

 I think the disabling of IPv6 for those who want it, should still be
 possible.

Aha, it must possible to do so.
I fixed it in the new patch and I found that the last time patch only
handle the parsing config file to setup the server(s) but not for the
parsing cmdline which if I parsing like this

# nbd-server 12345 /path/to/file.img

It only bind to AF_INET or AF_INET6 depending on which one return first
but not both.
Therefore, the new patch has added more patching on the code to manipulate the
serve that return from the cmdline() parsing function.

I have provide the initial patch for IPv6 support in
nbd-{server, client} which the nbd-server able to
serve in both IPv4 and IPv6 requests.

Patch is attached.

The client can connect to the server that listen on
IPv6 or IPv4 like this on command line

# nbd-client ::1...@1 /dev/nbd0
or
# nbd-client 127.0@1 /dev/nbd0

Substitute the port separator from : to @.

Please test and also advice me if you have seen
something wrong in the code.

So, the last time that the build is OK due to
the pbuilder options that I set to -B the binary only
which does not build the -doc, therefore the errors does not
occured.

Finally, I build without the -B option, still have the problems.

Downgrade the doxygen solve this, may be the changes in new doxygen
cause of this problem.

Bug#544838: Consulting with upstream

2009-09-03 Thread Neutron Soutmun
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I have consulted with upstream developer for a while and try to seek the
similar cases as this but no luck. The main problem is that I don't know how to
emulate the s390 or how to cross compile for this arch.

Seeking for the utmpx.h for s390 only found in the
lsb-build-base3:/usr/include/lsb3/utmpx.h which it isn't in the libc package

Search for utmpx in other packages, found in the rxvt do some workaround for
this function and maybe or maybe not the same case.

For suggestions are welcome.

 Thanks for the patch, but please see the discussion about this option in
 the following thread:
 - http://lists.debian.org/debian-cd/2008/12/msg00063.html
 - http://lists.debian.org/debian-cd/2009/01/msg4.html

Ahh, I am just another person who using simple-cdd that define ISOLINUX_DEFAULT
to set the default of the debian installer menu, no more than that :)

 As you can see my opinion is that the option no longer has any real value
 and should probably just be dropped.

 Also, your patch does not cover the alternative desktop environment
 configuration files that we now have on quite a few images. If that is
 added the total thing becomes so complex that it IMO really is more
 trouble than it's worth.

Thanks for your review, I only test it with amd64 graphical installer images
and it seems to work but if it will issue more troubles, definitely be dropped.

 Unless very strong arguments can be given why this should be preserved, I
 plan to remove the broken existing code shortly.

I'm not sure for the reason to preserve this option, just follow the
information
from the simple-cdd settings.
May I have more information that I could follow the discussions about
this ISOLINUX_DEFAULT should be dropped and what options may replace it,
or the new concepts that better than this option.

Thanks in advance,
Neutron Soutmun

The new upstream 2.4.3 was released with some new features which
describe in http://ipset.netfilter.org/changelog.html

The new upstream have the Kernel part changes which I think it related to
the netfilter-extensions-source package which get the source from the
netfilter patch-o-matic.

I search through https://svn.netfilter.org/netfilter/trunk/patch-o-matic-ng/
unfortunately I can not find any new changes about 2.4.x yet or
it will be update later ? or I find it at the wrong place ?

Bug#499154: libgda3-3: found 3.0.4 upstream released

2008-09-16 Thread Neutron Soutmun
Package: libgda3-3
Version: 3.0.2-4.1
Severity: wishlist

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I found some problem with current libgda3-sqlite which build against the old
libsqlite that it could not get the correct data value from db, only NULL
return in string fields.

Test environment:
 sqlite3, libsqlite3-0 (3.5.9-4)
 Test Code: http://www.gnome-db.org/CodeExampleGdaSelect

After rebuild libgda3 against libsqlite3-0 (3.5.9-4), it work just fine.

Therefore, I think now the new 3.0.4 is released with some problems solved.

http://ftp.acc.umu.se/pub/GNOME/sources/libgda/3.0/libgda-3.0.4.tar.bz2

It's good idea to build the new one which also solve the problem that I found,
isn't it ?

Today, I try to upgrade the LTSP client in the chroot, and I found the
conflicts that the system will remove the ltsp-client-core which cause of
the unsatisfied dependency on discover1 package.

The discover package (2.1.2-2 as now) is the propose package to replace
the discover1 package (I guest, I saw it conflict with discover1 package).

If it is possible to change the dependency on the discover1 package to
the discover package, please change it.

Bug#480038: subversion: call the jhbuild update, error message return svn: Network socket initialization failed

 Can you figure out what repository it is trying to check out, or what
 command it is running? Is it using http or https? I tried:

   svn ls https://svn.gnome.org/svn/gnome-common/

After try to force_checkout again.
It is using http, therefore it is not the same as #480041,
following the error message like this

*** Checking out gnome-common *** [5/192]
svn checkout http://svn.gnome.org/svn/gnome-common/trunk gnome-common
svn: Network socket initialization failed
*** error during stage force_checkout of gnome-common: ## Error
running svn checkout http://svn.gnome.org/svn/gnome-common/trunk
gnome-common *** [5/192]

But I wonder why I issue the command manually, It's work.
Just
  svn checkout http://svn.gnome.org/svn/gnome-common/trunk gnome-common
or
  svn ls http://svn.gnome.org/svn/gnome-common/

Maybe the jhbuild issue some options to svn that extra than svn
checkout,
I will try to find it if I can. (I'm not be expert in python :P).

  Thanks for the confirmation. Seems like
  80_static-mutex-aliasing-warnings.patch breaks g_mutex_lock on amd64.
  Reassigning to libglib2.0-0.

 That patch can't break locking for NM. As Sebastien mentioned earlier, the
 changes can only ever have effect when you compile against the new glib. We
 need to debug this more on network-manager's side before starting to blame
 glib.

 I've made some debs[0] which should fix the dbus errors we're seeing in the
 NM
 logs. Which may or may not fix this issue, but it definately fixes some
 memory
 corruption. (I couldn't test this because i don't have machines with kill
 switches though...)

 So please everyone who can reproduce it, try these debs.. And if it still
 fails
 send in new NM logs :)

 Sjoerd
 0: http://beast.luon.net/~sjoerd/NM/

Sorry, I'm not sure, what's the actually problem. I only test, follow
the others' comments that downgrading the libglib to prior version and
it's work.

Now I test your debs[0], the error message has gone and also fixes the
problem :)

Thanks (Sjoerd Simons [EMAIL PROTECTED]) for this patch,
